BNHA: Dual Fates
Chapter 39: Miss Muni's Arrival.
A/N: Dudes- because I screwed up before by introducing Toga way earlier, I'm going to try and work around it so be prepared for a little bit of changed dialogue, please. XD
I'm sure this wouldn't hinder the anime's plot any. :)
Excluding Toga, one other man had arrived to check out the league who was brought by some man Haru couldn't figure out. "Kurogiri, get rid of this guy," Tomura's irritated voice reached the blind girl's ears and the smallest movement of his arm was felt through the vibrations on the floor, she knew he was pointing at him. "The rude guy, one out of the many things I hate," he added, only to hear Kurogiri try to reason with him.
"Now, now. He came all this way to visit, so let's at least hear him out, Tomura Shigaraki. Besides, that big shot broker, brought him," his feet shifted slightly when he turned to view the man lingering in the doorway. "He's bound to be a valuable asset," the misty man explained and was unaware that Haru's smirk played at her lips.
No, she wasn't bound to ropes this time, she was actually free but the exit to their hideout was bolted down and it'd take a lot of time to unlock it. She knew, that if she so much as tried to escape by unlocking them all, it'd slow her down and they'd bind her in no time.
Her head hadn't faced towards the newcomer, instead only her ears twitched and picked up everything. Their smells, the sounds, the vibrations from all around, were enough to paint that same colored image in her vision. The odd, misty silhouettes that had the same exact colors on their bodies, it was enough to let her know what they were doing and who was moving.
"I don't care what you do with him, but make sure I get my commission, Kurogiri. At least let me introduce him first," reminded the Broker before he stepped closer with his cigarette. "This guy here, hasn't committed any flashy crimes, but he holds fast to the hero killer's ideology, and that high school girl was who I brought to you last time remember?" he easily explained.
"I'm uneasy about this. Does this organization really have a just cause? Don't tell me I'd have to be stuck with that crazy woman there," his blue eyes, even though Haru couldn't see them, looked over at Himiko and watched her gasp at him in return.
"Hey, you. You can't even do what that crazy high school girl was able to do. Give me your name first, you're an adult right?" questioned Tomura, however, upon hearing amused giggles behind him his red eyes glanced at Haru for a moment before viewing the guy again.
"I currently go by Dabi," the man known as Dabi, mumbled just to earn another response from the hand-guy.
"That's not what I want to know. What's your real name?" once more, Tomura asked, and kept his finger pointed at the man in black.
"I'll tell you when it's time... Anyway, I'll carry out the will of the hero killer," Dabi's reply only annoyed Shigaraki that much more, when his eyes bore into red ones that were difficult to see behind the giant white hand on his face.
"You don't have to say what you haven't been asked," As he leaned over, he continued and gradually stood to his feet. "Jeez, everyone's so hung up about Stain, Stain... I don't like it," he was so caught up in his anger towards the hero killer, that Kurogiri's warning only fell upon his deaf ears. "I don't feel good," quickly, his hand lifted and tried to touch them with his quirk. "You're no good!" through his muffled voice was nothing but distaste when he went to reach for the man. Everyone excluding Haru, reacted with haste and prepared their quirks to fight.
However, thanks to Kurogiri's quirk, he managed to stop all of their attacks by sending their fists through portals and catching them in time. "Please calm down, Tomrua Shigaraki. If what you wish is to come to pass, then we must increase the organization's numbers. Strangely enough, we're in the spotlight right now, so now is our chance. We should not be rejecting them, we should be receiving them. You must use it, all of it, and all of the ideology he left behind," the last part of his sentence Tomura heard in his ear and was practically whispered.
When Shigaraki felt himself being freed, his feet carried him away toward the exit. "Shut up..." his mumbled words only made the Broker curious and all heads watched him make his way out; the Broker couldn't help but ask where he was going, to which Tomura replied with another rude, 'shut up'.
They want to keep me here, right? A whispered voice, inside of Haru's head, echoed and a sinister, toothy grin grew on the girl's lips. They took my dagger away, but they didn't take my will. And, you know what...? Killing doesn't sound like a bad idea, after all. If I kill, I can be free... If I just let this feeling have me, I won't have to keep fighting anymore right? I won't be in pain... Uviel, I'm so sorry, but I can't be around you anymore. I'm so tired of fighting it, it hurts too much. So, if they want to see a real psychopath then they have no idea who they're housing right now... Very slowly, a long, pointed snake tongue slipped out and licked her lips. As Shigaraki said, if my killing desires are directed correctly then I don't have to keep fighting it anymore... kill, I need to kill to sate its hunger, but the more I feed it the stronger it gets. I can't hold it in anymore! Desperation for relief drew her almost into a state of madness when she began to giggle to herself.
As swiftly as he could, Kurogiri used his quirk to reach the door and locked all of the locks at once after Tomura left. "Yukimura, I know what you're thinking. You can't leave, not until Shigaraki finds a good way to direct your blood-lust," the misty man reminded the brunette, he didn't notice Toga and Dabi move their eyes to the ominous girl.
"Who's this?" Questioned the man in black, with a risen brow, and remained in his spot.
"She is Haru Yukimura, the daughter of the infamous Hitman, Serpentine. The league's ally paid her father to bring her here in hopes of forcing her to accept her true self. She's very emotionally conflicted... I honestly feel sorry for the girl," the last bit was mumbled when he reached from beneath the counter and pulled out a shot glass.
"Hehehe, she's super interesting though! I like her! I want to meet her darker side more than anything! I keep seeing it more often now, ever since we've kept her here for almost two weeks! Can you believe there are some weak heroes that keep looking for her?" Toga giggled and twirled in place, before sitting down in a chair next to the brunette. However, the snake girl refused to sit, for she remained standing and the dark aura around her almost sent a shiver down Himiko's spine.
"Toga Himiko," Kuro's words made the dirty-blonde perk up and snap out of whatever state she was in with a blink of her eyes. "Do you have any word from Miss Muni? You and Shigaraki are the only ones that have stayed in contact with her. I believe she was supposed to arrive tonight, but Tomura Shigaraki hasn't informed me of anything yet," as he poured some alcohol into the small glass, he scooted it across the bar top and didn't even pay attention to a scaly hand that caught it.
"Yes! I think she said she'd arrive tonight or early in the morning. Somewhere around that time! That lady is so cool! Can you believe she actually eats human flesh and blood?!" Toga's cheeks burned with excitement when she cooed over the unknown woman as if she was her idol.
Dabi looked like he wanted to puke by just hearing it being mentioned, for his hand covered his mouth and his face contorted. "You want me to accept my dark side, huh?" Soon, all of their heads looked over to see a sinister, grinning brunette and made Dabi's hand lower. Confusion and caution filled his eyes with he heard such an ominous tone come from the girl.
"You're right... All I have to do is accept that part of me. I won't have to struggle anymore... No more pain, no more fighting," her next words weren't as creepy as the first but her wicked smile never faltered. Kurogiri, Dabi, and toga all noticed a stray tear leak from under the white mask that hid her eyes.
"She's crying?" Kuro, who soon glanced at Tadami that silently sipped at his shot glass, was a little stunned at the display and watched the girl chuckle.
"You have no idea... What kind of murderer you set free," When the snake girl turned to face them all, her hand rose and lifted one side of her mask to reveal her snake eyes. A bright green glow outlined them, gradually fading into a darker green with small radiating specs in some spots. Their gleam pierced through the dim lighting in the room and the thick shadow that veiled over most of her face.
A strike of fear entered everyone's hearts, rendering their limbs immobile and their eyes to widen from the horrific sight. I can't move!? Dabi's devastated thoughts echoed as his blue hues bore into the terrifying slit across the room that was being revealed.
Toga's lips quivered from the nightmare that was before her, for even her limbs froze in their spot and couldn't so much as mutter a word save for a few almost inaudible whimpers. Everyone, even Kuro were as still as statues, except the girl's father.
When Tadami was about to stand with a close of his black eyes, Haru's amused laughter filled the room and covered her one eye back up. "Hahahaha, you should've seen your faces! Wow, my quirk really worked on you guys, didn't it?~" with her arms clenching her gut, she completely ignored the flabbergasted expressions of the others and trekked closer to the bar. "Kurogiri? You have any hard-boiled eggs?" They were all taken aback by her sudden burst of positiveness and villainy mixed together.
"I- I do..." the misty man hesitated at first but turned around to search through his containers. When he turned around, he held out an egg carton full of hard-boiled eggs that he seemed to have prepared for occasions like this. "You've been eating them a lot since you've been here, so I prepared a small stash for you," as soon as he sat it in front of her, he picked up the bottle of alcohol from before and took Tadami's shot glass to refill it.
"Thanks!" Quickly, she took the egg carton and walked away towards the door. A cheerful background behind her caused a lot of confused faces and when she reached to the top of the door... "Huh? I could've sworn my Dad put my dagger up here," her mumbled words reached everyone's ears until Serpentine rose from his seat and took one last sip from his glass.
"They moved it somewhere else... Shigaraki didn't want you killing him like you tried to last time," Her father spoke up and put his black hat on his head, it was obvious he was about to leave.
A harsh shove from his arm made her tumble back a little and felt his movements when he blindingly unlocked the locks. It was hard for her to pick up his speed, for he had sprinted out of the door just as fast and it slammed shut. Kuro had to quickly lock it back up so she wouldn't escape, which in turn only made her lips pout.
Half of a hard-boiled egg was bit off of when she put her fangs on it and nearly swallowed it whole, like a real snake with its prey.
The Broker sighed and placed a hand to the back of his head, whereas everyone else viewed the girl near the door. "I don't want to complain about a client, but he's young... Too young. And this young lady is just creepy," Unease was obvious in his eyes when he stared upon the brunette.
"I thought he was going to kill him," Toga replied with unchanging features, just to hear Dabi mumble in return.
"He makes me sick...and the girl's freaky," What he didn't know, was the amusement showing on Haru's lips when she heard him.
"Would it be all right to give you an answer at a later date? I believe he knows what he should do. It's because he knows he left without saying anything; All Might, Hero Killer, he's been humbled twice already. I'm sure he will reach an answer... That both of you will be satisfied with," Kuro questioned and explained to the man in black, as he cleaned the shot glass Tadami once had.
~~~
Outside, everyone gawked at a woman who carried a large Gatling gun with one hand, over her shoulder. The chain of bullets clinked together against the metal pieces of the gun and a small piece of paper with directions written on it, fluttered from the soft breeze of her pace.
Many citizens around her backed away or walked as fast as they could to get around the woman, for all they know she could flip the gun over her shoulder and start spraying bullets. As far as they were aware, she hadn't caused any trouble for them to call for help or a hero.
White boots clacked against the sidewalk as a black, formal skirt flailed over her black leotard-covered legs. From corner to corner, then into an alleyway where she nearly passed Shigaraki, his red eyes gazed upon her frame and halted in his steps.
"I thought you were arriving tonight," With his hood on, his words were muffled. "I'll be back later..." quietly and irritably spoken, his thumb point over his shoulder and returned his gaze to the exit of the alley. "It's back that way, the door to the left. Just knock... It's locked, so someone will let you in," When he continued past her, he wasn't aware of the woman's attention following him until she too continued her way.
Two minutes, was what it took, for the stranger to reach the door and with a small pale hand, she knocked on its surface. One, two, to three more minutes Kurogiri's voice could be heard questioning who it was and when she didn't answer...
Very cautiously, locks were messed with on the other side. The woman watched it open with an eerie creek, however, it wasn't enough to spook her... Not even in the least. What was revealed to her, was the very bartender who opened the door and glued his yellow eyes to...dead, black ones. "Miss Muni, I was told you were arriving later tonight or soon. This is unexpected," As he motioned for her to step inside and moved out of the way, he watched her pale hand adjust a pair of round glasses on her nose.
In she came- her wavy and unkempt, silver pigtails flowed gently behind her, as two strands that shaped out a heart above her head waved. A white, puffy, and sleeveless trench coat did the same and easily avoided any collision from her Gatling gun hitting anything on her way in. Worn-out and torn, her blue, V-neck shirt was as it revealed a lot of her stomach's long stitches and the darker skin patch over her left ribs.
With a heavy thunk of her gun, she watched the bartender with a sharp glare make his way behind the bar's surface and slap the paper in front of him. "You call this a hideout...? It was hard to follow these directions," nothing but raw anger laced her words when she asked. Those piercing, black and dead eyes bore into yellow ones until she looked away to find a seat next to her.
Her bum sat down with a cross of her legs and a fold of her arms, calmly closing her eyes. "Miss Muni, we had to make do with what we could afford. It is also not your place to complain, when you are merely in a temporary alliance with us," Kuro explained and gave Haru a glance when he heard her eating those hard-boiled eggs.
Muni couldn't help but peek over her shoulder at the brunette, who was accompanied by a familiar dirty-blonde girl watching her eat the eggs whole. A test would be a good thing to do, to see if she's finally come around. her mind pondered on Haru's mental state and kept her strict eyes on her. "Any updates on her...?" Despite not looking at Kurogiri, the said bartender returned his attention to the silver-haired woman and nodded.
"Yes. Though I still can't believe her words, she claimed it'd be better if she did accept her true self so she wouldn't have to be in pain anymore, or have to keep fighting it. All For One suggested for us to redirect her blood-lust toward a more satisfying goal. Death with meaning or more progression, he claimed would be more satisfying than simply letting her loose," explained the misty man.
"Sure... Whatever gets her moving faster. As long as she's useful in locating that bastard, I don't care," Harsh, Muni's words were, for even her stern eyes sharpened to a more furious one at the mention of the unknown man she claimed to be a bastard.
Her arrival rose curiosity in Dabi's and the Broker's minds, for they have never heard of her. So, this is the woman that the girl mentioned, eats flesh and blood? She looks dead... in his mind, with a little unease about the reminder, he noted and kept his attention on the silver-haired stranger.
~~~Uviel~~~
"Let go of me, Kyoshi!" Saito's anger began to boil and her legs thrashed behind him, she absolutely hated how he was carrying her under his armpit.
"Be quiet! I'm going to lure out that snake out one way or another!" His anger rose as he raced across the streets and scaled a nearby apartment building with his free hand.
"Which snake?! Serpentine or Haru?!" Uviel's question was yelled when she watched the ground beneath them become more distant and the devastation never left her widened eyes.
"Who else?! That damn snake, Serpentine!" As soon as they reached the rooftop, he sat her down and looked around. "If he can't see you all the way up here, then I'll try somewhere else. He's after you, so I might as well use you to my advantage," He hated the idea of putting a child in danger, but if it meant locating that Hitman then he'd do whatever it takes.
"Hey- I'm... Not sure if using me as bait, would be the best choice," hesitantly spoken, a few steps back were enough to show her uneasiness and when her hands rose up in defense, it proved how she disliked the close proximity.
"You have any better ideas...?" A low grumble, resonated from his throat like a Crocodile, and his piercing yellow eyes bore into blue eyes.
From behind him- what made both of their heads look at a ladder, were Kirishima's and Ochaco's voices. "Well- Kidnapping a student out of the blue isn't a good one, for starters!" With a rough hand, Kirishima pulled himself over the edge of the roof and stepped aside to help Uraraka out.
After Eijiro, it was Ochaco's turn to speak up and she didn't appear all-too-happy about her friend being taken like that. "Yes, now that you did, the teachers will be hunting you down to try and arrest you. Kirishima and I heard what you said when we were on our way up this ladder... Why didn't you just approach her normally?! I understand that you're in a hurry but doing it like that- only makes you look like the bad guy!" Her fists clenched and those brown hues bore into annoyed yellow ones.
"How would you kids know anything about being a bad guy compared to being assumed as the bad guy?!" his anger spiked and his bellowing growl echoed, which seemed to have unsettled the two.
"You're assumed as the bad guy if you're reckless to the point of doing something harsh as you did just now. We know you're not really that bad, from what Recovery Girl told us," This time, it was Izuku who decided to speak up and hop over the edge of the roof using his quirk.
Sparks engulfed his body as his eyes lit up a lighter green, he gradually stood up straighter and kept his stern hues upon the Crock. "She told Ochaco and me what she knew about you, from your Middle School years. Even though I don't know about your past, I understand that you have hatred for that Hitman, but that still gives you no reason to bust in as you did moments ago and kidnap an innocent student," The boy had a firm stance to show Wani his confidence, he really disliked how he barged in unannounced without asking for help from one of the teachers.
"I... Hate heroes. I've hated them ever since and I will continue to hate them even now. I have no respect for them, so why would I politely knock on the front door when I could just kick it down and be done with it? I want it done now, not later. I've waited too long and the only fucking thing I can do is use Saito as bait! Knocking on their front door would only take even longer!" Kyoshi's dangerous, grumbling voice boomed and startled everyone except Midoriya and Kirishima.
"Why do you hate heroes?" Ochaco's question that seemed to have a bit of concern, only made the Crock turn his back to them and look over the tall building.
"Why would you care to know? You're all kids," his mumbles weren't unheard, in fact, a booming voice not too far from them alerted everyone.
"That's right, they're just kids!" The flaming hero, with his blue eyes staring at the group and his arms folded, stood to the opposite side of the building. Surprisingly, even Shinso was next to him, albeit appearing rather bored, and kept his hands in his pockets. "The Hero Agency assigned me to take care of that Serpent, a mere citizen like you shouldn't get involved! Go, leave this to me. I have bait to lure out that Hitman and I don't want you ruining my plan," Explained the blazed hero, as he glared daggers at the Crock, who simply grumbled and fully faced him.
"I have a grudge to settle, with that snake. I have just as much right as you, to kill that bastard," This time, after he calmly walked to the hero and were mere inches from his face, their foreheads almost touched if it wasn't for Uviel getting their attention.
"B- Both of you, should probably work together. I- I mean, if you think about it- A hero and a very strong citizen that seems to know what he's doing, a little... With Shinso and I out in the open for Serpentine to see, it'd be irresistible to try and at least kill one of us. If he's after us, then you two would be better off teaming up, right?" Nervous sweat trickled down her cheek as she stepped back to give them some room.
"It makes sense. But Saito..." Upon hearing Shinso's slightly concerned words try to gain her attention, her blue hues peered at purple ones and blinked. "You'll have to stay out of the way the best you can, in order to keep him from killing you. I have a way to use my quirk to help fight that Hitman and if that man there, teamed up with us- He would only make things worse. If anything, he would be better off protecting you until that snake's dead," He stepped closer to the cybergirl and sighed, he found it rather annoying since others were getting involved.
"That sounds irrational. Leaving a student of U.A, a child, in the hands of a citizen that's not even licensed to use his quirk. That's not very reassuring, especially since he kidnapped her straight from her practical exam," Endeavor fumed through gritted teeth and unfolded his arms, he felt as if a fight between the two would soon occur.
"You know what, how about I hide? Kage will keep me safe if worst comes to worst, that way you two won't have to worry or watch over more than one student. T- That or... My friends can take me back to U.A..." Uviel suggested awkwardly and lifted her hands in defense. She couldn't help but feel as though she was in their way, however, a gentle hand from Eijiro made her jump a little bit and peek over at him.
"Let's just leave these two alone. Besides-" Kirishima, with a finger pointing above her head, motioned for her to look and so she did. "Kage already has his guns out and aimed at that tall guy. Let's hurry back so the teachers won't have to worry and spend too much time looking for us," a thumbs-up was what she received, along with his contagious, joyful smile that she loves so much.
Ten shades of red, painted her cheeks, from how close they were. From taking in his muscles, the beaming grin on his face, his badass outfit, and the aroma that wafted to her nose; it made the entirety of her face brighten and her eyes widen.
"Ah-!" A quick shriek left the girl's upper-black lips when he swooped her into his arms like a bride and jumped down the building. It was unlike him to do that, for she had known him for his chivalry and kindness; his manliness. She never expected him to have the guts to hold her while he ran back to the school's training area.
"W- Wait for us!" Midoriya stammered slightly over his speech and blushed at the thought of doing the same for Uraraka. When his eyes met brown ones, they both shyly looked away with red cheeks. Regardless, they ran back and left the hero and the Crock behind.
