A little more Action in this chapter. As you will read, T-Bone stuck his foot in his mouth, Big Time!
No more sneak peeks, go read.
Chance needed to get away from the girls. It was not that he didn't love them. That was the farthest from the truth. Earlier that morning, Callie went to the store to get some more milk and a few other things the girls needed. She came home and found Chance on the floor, playing happily with his daughters. He had all three of them on his back, letting them ride him like a horse.
Callie had to fall to the floor, laughing when Mary grabbed ahold of Chance's tail, and gave it a firm pull, then bit down on it, nice and hard. Sinking her very sharp teeth into his tail, which caused Chance to wince in pain.
After he put the girls down for their morning nap, he called Jake, begging to go out for a flight in the TurboKat.
Two hours later, the two arrived back at the Salvage Yard, and found Katerina's car parked over by the garage.
Chance parked his car to the right of Katerina's and turned it off. An idea formed in his head, then asked, "Remember when Katerina claimed there was not another pilot out there who could out fly her?"
"Yeah, and I also remember finding you, in a tight lip-lock with her soon after. What of it?" He cautiously asked.
"How about we challenge them to see which team is better in the air?"
"One, are you nuts?! Katerina has mastered flying the TurboKat 2. She's almost better than Felina. And two, the TurboKat is not as advanced as the TurboKat 2. Our jet will come close, but she can't out maneuver the TurboKat 2!"
"Stop being so pessimistic, Jake. I can out fly her, any day of the week," Chance said, and got out of the car.
Jake sat there for a second, said, "This is a very bad idea." Then got out of the car and followed Chance into the garage.
After entering the garage and climbing down into the hangar, they found Katerina, Tina, and Gwendlyn, washing the TurboKat 2 Each one was wearing a pair of jean shorts and a white t-shirt.
"What's Gwendyln doing down here?" Chance asked.
"We didn't have someone who could watch her, so we brought her with us. Its not like she doesn't know who we are," Katerina said.
"We don't hide anything from our daughter. We want to have a very open and honest relationship with her, and that type of relationship is built on trust. Both Katerina and I trust our daughter not to tell a sole, what goes on and who we are," Tina said, while ruffling Gwendlyn's hair.
Gwendlyn batted her mother's paw away, as she said, "Stop that mommy! You know I hate it when you do that!"
"Sorry Gwen, I can't resist playing with your hair. It's so soft," Tina said.
Gwendlyn ran over to the wall in front of her to get the Rolling Ladder, used to service the jets. She wrapped her little right paw around one of the uprights, and started pulling the ladder next to Tina. Then she stepped onto the first rung of the ladder, climbing it until she was at the right height, and ruffled Tina's hair, as she said, "See how you like it, Mommy!"
Everyone had to laugh at Gwendlyn's actions since she was the perfect mixture of her mothers.
Chance stopped laughing first, then said, "Kat, you once mentioned you were the best pilot in the skies. No tom or she-cat could beat you."
"Da, I remember," Katerina said.
"How about we prove it? You and Tina, against Jake and I. Up there." Chance said.
Katerina mulled over the idea for a hot minute, then said, "We never did settle, who is the better pilot, dear Chance." She sauntered over to Chance, rubbed his right cheek, as she said, "You and I have a date, with two high-powered planes."
"I get to see my mommies in action!?" Gwendyln asked. Then turned her head to Tina, and asked, "Can I go up with you?"
"I don't think that is a good idea, Gwendlyn. Your mother can get quite, aggressive when she is cornered and I don't think you are ready to handle a 5G turn, just yet," Tina answered.
"What do you mean, I can get quite aggressive, Tina?" Katerina asked.
"I've been with you when you are driving and when you pilot the TurboKat 2. As much as I love you, you and machines have this love hate relationship, I can't explain. You love pushing the limits of what they can really do, and in turn, we all hate the repairs we have to make when you bring them back," Tina answered.
Katerina rested her weight on her left hip and crossed her arms under chest. The scowl on her face made her displeasure with Tina's comments, very well known, especially to the she-cat that loved her more than anything. "Oh, come on Kat, we all know, you don't mean to cause the damage to our car and the TurboKat 2. Heck, you love that jet almost as much as Gwendlyn," Tina said.
Katerina relaxed her posture, as she said, "I do love that jet. Being up in the air with her, makes me feel alive."
Tina removed Gwendlyn from the ladder, cradled her in her left arm, and went over to Katerina She rubbed the fur on her left cheek, as she said, "Then let's get you up in the air, with your jet, then we can show the boys, how well you command the TurboKat 2."
Katerina captured Tina's paw in hers, then said, "I like that idea, Sniper." Followed by a loving kiss to Tina's paw.
Gwendlyn encircled her arms around both of their necks, then said, "Too bad I can't go up there, I want to see my mommies, wipe the floor with my uncles."
"Now, wait a minute! Who said they are going to wipe the floor with us!?" Chance said.
Gwendlyn turned her heated around to face the two toms, then said, "I did! My mommies are awesome!"
Both she-cats kissed their daughter, then Tina said, "Let's get you set up at your Aunt Felina's console, where you can watch your mommies play with your uncles, Gwendlyn." They started waking towards the lockers, stopping at the Training Console and sitting Gwendlyn down in the chair, while Katerina switched on the monitors that were attached to the cameras installed in both jets, before they went to get changed into their uniforms.
"Uncle Jake, will I be able to see everything that you see from here?" Gwendlyn asked.
"You sure can," Jake replied. "I have cameras installed in both jets, plus the training grounds. You will be able to see, better than we will."
Chance walked up behind the chair Gwendlyn was sitting in, leaned over her right shoulder, pointed to a small panel, containing a series of buttons and a small joystick, then said, "You can select which camera you want to see on the large monitor with the buttons, and control the position of the camera with the joystick." He then demonstrated by pushing one of the buttons, bringing up an image shown from the nose of the TurboKat, which was aimed at them, then moving the camera by moving the stick.
"This is so cool!" Gwendlyn said.
"Is it cooler than us?" Sniper asked.
The Gwendlyn and Chance and Jake turned around to see Snipper and Havoc, in their uniforms. Both of them stuck very heroic poses, which solidified in Gwendlyn's mind, that her mothers are the best heroes, ever.
Since this was the first time Gwendlyn saw her mothers, as Sniper and Havoc, she was completely astonished with the vision in front of her. "You both look awesome!" She bound out of her chair, ran over to her mothers, and looked at to the two heroines. "When I was living in the Orphanage, I dreamed of meeting the she-cats of SWAT. You all are my heroes, I wanted to be one of you. I never imagined being adopted by two of them."
Havoc picked up her daughter in her arms, then said, "One day, you are going to take my place. Just as Apprentice will take the place of Sniper."
"I get to fly in the TurboKat 2?!" Gwendlyn asked.
"Niet! You get to be her pilot!" Havoc said with a smile.
"You mean, I get to be a pilot?" Gwendlyn asked, the tears of excitement started forming in her young eyes.
"Da, of course you will be a pilot," Havoc said. "Only my daughter will have the ability to take my place, when the time is right, of course."
Gwendlyn wrapped her arms around Havoc's neck kissed her left cheek, then said, "I love you, mommy!"
"I love you too, my daughter," Havoc said.
Sniper went and stood between Chance and Jake. She place her arms around both of their necks, then said, "The next generation of SWAT has been born. Our sons and daughters are going to eventually take the places of their parents. I can't image it being any other way."
"I completely agree, Sniper," Jake said as he watched the scene in front of him. "Gwendlyn is going to make a fine pilot; when she gets older. Wonder what else is in store for our families?"
"Don't know, Jake," Sniper said, before she kissed both toms on the cheek, then said, "Go get changed, you both still have to be beaten by Havoc and me."
"This again!?" Chance said. "Who said we are going to lose? I'm a better pilot than Havoc, period! There is no way I'm going to be beaten by a she-cat!"
Havoc heard him, then scowled, "There is no way, you are going to be beaten by a she-cat?" She said with malice. She put Gwendlyn down, walked over to him, without the very determined gaze on her face changing at all, then said, "This, she-cat is not only going to out fly you, I'm going to make sure everyone is SWAT can see, this she-cat kick your tail! Come, Snipper! We have a Pre-Flight check to do, then find a place to bury these two!" She then grabbed Sniper's left arm and dragged her towards the TurboKat 2.
"You really know how to put your foot in your mouth, don't you!" Jake said. "Those two are our closest friends, and you have to go, all Macho-Tom on them!"
"I admit, I screwed up, but there is nothing I can do about it now. Once Havoc has her mind set on something, it can't be changed. This is going to be one challenge I wish I could back out of, but I can't. Face it, we are in for the flight of our lives, she is going to push us to the limit of what we can do, then push us farther," Chance said.
A half-hour later, T-Bone and Razor were situated in the TurboKat while Havoc and Sniper were in the TurboKat 2.
As both jet's engines started, Gwendlyn put on a pair of Hearing Protection and watched as the two most powerful jets she had ever seen, started their engines, making the hangar's walls vibrate.
Both canopies closed and secured, then the T-Bone started to maneuver the TurboKat into position to race up the ramp and into the sky.
The TurboKat's radio came to life, and both toms heard, "I love you both," Havoc said. They breathed a sigh of relief that just maybe, she was calming down. But then they heard, "Sniper and I are going to bury you!"
"I hope you have a good Life Insurance policy, T-Bone, cause you are going to need it!" Razor said.
The indicator on the wall, illuminated Green, signaling it was safe to him to take off. T-Bone pushed the throttle forward, increasing the whine of the engines to a deafening level, then released the brake. The TurboKat shot up the ramp and into the sky above the yard.
Sniper placed her left paw on Havoc's left shoulder, then said, "Our turn, babe. You know he didn't mean the things he said."
"He still said them, right in front of Gwendlyn! I can't forgive him for that," Havoc said as she positioned the TurboKat 2 in line with the ramp and set the brake. "We want to raise our daughter, knowing a she-cat can do anything a tom can do, without question. I won't have her thinking that she's weaker or can't do something cause she is a she-cat!"
"She knows what she can do already, Havoc! We both talk to Esfir daily, she tells us Gwendlyn is a born leader and how the other kittens in her class look up to her, even the boys! She has an amazing set of teachers, all she-cats, that teach her during the day and train with her in the evening. Our daughter is going to be even stronger and more confident that you are, if that is even possible, Havoc."
Hearing that Gwendlyn was going to be just as strong and confident as she is, brought a smile to her face. She looked out of the cockpit to her daughter, who happened to be looking back at her, with both of her thumbs up. She raised her left paw up above the bottom of the canopy, lifted her own thumb, then pushed the throttle of the jet forward, launching them into the skies.
Gwendlyn sat back down and fiddled with the camera controls, until she could find one that showed her mothers. She quickly figured out how to use the radio in the console, picked up the mic, then said, "Go get em' Havoc and Sniper!"
"We will, don't you worry," Havoc said.
Sniper undid her seatbelt, leaned over Havoc's seat, then said, "Whatever you do, don't touch the upper part of the console! We don't need any more of your Aunt Caliber's Gifts!" And sat back down in her seat.
Gwendlyn looked briefly at the upper part of the console her mother mentioned, quickly read the words written on the buttons and switches. She had no idea what a Heat Seeker, or Solar Flare meant. But if her mother told her not to touch those controls, she knew she should listen to her. "Alright mommy, I won't touch those buttons."
"Good girl!" Havoc said. She flew her jet next to the TurboKat, then said into the mic built into her helmet, "The rules are simple, we head out to the Training grounds at the same time. We both fly through the rock formations as fast as we can go. The winner is the one with the fastest time, deal?"
"Deal Havoc! Ladies first." T-Bone said.
"Chivalry will not help you, T-Bone, but we ladies appreciate it," Sniper said.
Both teams headed out to the Training Grounds and circled the grounds, twice, scanning for un-wanted visitors, or anything that would impede their duel.
Havoc pulled the TurboKat 2 into a steep climb, which was almost vertical. She brought the jet up to an altitude of sixty thousand feet, before she pulled the stick back further, causing the jet to flip on its back, flying upside down.
"Havoc, this is absolutely, amazing! I've never flew upside down before," Sniper said, as she looked at the scenery from the canopy.
Havoc lifted the right corner off her mouth, then pushed the TurboKat 2 into a steep dive, bringing it to the entrance of the formations. "Start the clock," Havoc started saying as she lifted the nose of the jet, aligning it with the entrance of the formation, then just before she entered, she said, "Now!"
Back in the hangar, Gwendlyn pressed the Start button on the stop watch at her mother's command and watched as her mother maneuvered the TurboKat 2 through the natural maze.
Havoc was having the time of her life, pushing the TurboKat 2 to its limit.
Sniper on the other hand, cringed as her lover swung the stick back and forth, bringing the jets within inches of the rocks. "Havoc, you need to back down, or we are going to be a stain on one of the rocks!" She said.
That made Havoc, even more determined to go even faster. She inched the throttle forward, making the jet go even faster, and also increasing the G-forces inside the jet.
Havoc put the jet into a barrel-roll for the last section. With the speed she was going, the G-Forces inside the jet, forced both heroines into their seats and securely held them in place.
"Havoc! Back it down! You're going to kill us!" Sniper said. She felt like she was being crushed as the gravity increased.
After an excruciating, fifteen seconds, the TurboKat 2 emerged from the formation, still in its rapid barrel-roll.
Havoc brought the jet out of the roll and backed off on the throttle, then said, "Time!"
Gwendlyn stopped the watched, recorded the time, then said, "One minute, forty-five seconds, and 30 one-hundredths of a second!"
T-Bone and Razor heard the time, then T-Bone said, "Guess, its our turn."
Razor looked out of the canopy at the TurboKat 2, and the sight of the two of his partners, congratulating the other, with High-Fives, and smiles on their faces, warmed his heart. "T-Bone, take a look, three-o'clock," Razor said.
T-Bone turned his head to the right, and saw the same thing Razor did. "Those two make an amazing team. Gwendlyn couldn't ask for a better pair of parents." He face the front of the jet, then said, "Let's go, partner."
Back at the House, Felina was helping Callie with the girls, while Persival and Isis nurtured their cubs.
"I still can't believe how small they are, Callie," Felina stated, lifting Mary or Kate from their crib. She still couldn't tell them apart.
"Do you know who you are holding, dear sister?" Callie asked, holding Callista against her chest, feeding the tiny kitten.
Felina looked at the kitten she was holding, examined her face for any signs of being different from her sister. Seeing nothing, she said, "Um.. Mary?"
Callie laughed for a second, then said, "You are holding Kate! Don't you know how to tell your own nieces apart?"
"Callie, you had three girls, two of them, identical. Chance can't even tell Mary and Kate apart, and he's their father!"
"Oh come on! Mary's striping is lighter than Kate's. Anyone can see that!" Callie said.
Felina went over to the crib, she picked up Mary in her other arm, then brought the tiny kittens over to where the iight was better. Both girls opened their eyes and instantly started meowing and cooing to their aunt. Felina kissed both girls and looked at their striping as she lowered them from her face. "Callie, Mary's striping is only a very small fraction of a shade lighter than Kate's! I'm calling Bull, that you know the difference between the two!"
Callie got up with Callista still feeding from her breast. Callie walked over to Felina, looked down at the two girls in her arms, and in that light, she couldn't tell them apart either. She folded the right corner of her lower lip into her mouth, as she tried to figure out a way to tell Felina, she didn't know the difference between the girls.
"Well, sister? Which one is Kate and which one is Mary?" Felina asked, knowing she had won this little battle.
Callie unfolded her lip, reached out with her free arm, and touched the kitten cradled in Felina's left arm, as she said, "Kate?"
Felina started to laugh, since she knew she had Callie beat. "That's Mary!" She said through the boughs of laughter. She returned to the cribs, and had to put the girls down, before she accidentally dropped them from laughing so hard.
However, her laughter caused a twinge in her stomach. She stopped laughing, then lifted her head to her friend, and asked, "When you went into labor, did you feel a tiny twinge?"
"I did," Callie responded. Followed by, "You don't think you are going into labor?"
"Possibly, you and I got pregnant about the same time," Felina said. Then another twinge hit her, hard. She placed both of her paws on her large stomach, then said, "I think you need to call an ambulance and Jake."
T-Bone was doing quite well with keeping up with the pace Havoc set. He was only a fraction of a second behind her as he approached the last section of the formation.
"I can beat her time!" He said, sweat was pouring from his brow since this was tougher than he thought it would be. "I need more power, Razor!"
Razor was checking all of the gauges which monitored all of the systems in the TurboKat and found that most of the systems were maxed out, or very close to the Redline. "We don't have anything left! If you plan on beating their time, you have to do it on skill alone," Razor said.
T-Bone looked at all of the instruments and settings, trying to figure out how to get that little bit extra out of the jet. He remembered the Afterburners Razor installed months ago, but were never fully tested. "Razor, are those Afterburners still functional?"
"No way! That is the stupidest thing you ever suggested! If you use them, you are going to bounce us off of a wall! And in here, that means we go splat! You are not to use them! Understood!" Razor ordered.
Gwendlyn was watching her mothers in one of the cameras focused on the cockpit of the TurboKat 2. Then, a large Red Light as well as the Klaxon started sounding in the hangar. She shrugged her shoulders, pushed the button under the light, and waited.
"Hello." She heard Callie's voice. She read the text on the button to the right of the red one, it said, "Talk" She pushed it, then said, "Aunt Empress! T-Bone and Razor are quite busy right now, trying to beat Havoc and Sniper's time."
"Figures the boys would find a way to have fun," Callie said. She pushed the button on her communicator, then said, "Can you radio the TurboKat, and tell Razor, Caliber has gone into labor?"
Gwendyln's eyes shot open with excitement. Her tail switched back and forth, very rapidly, then she said, "Aunt Caliber is having the kitten! I'll get in touch with him, right now! Razor's going to be a father!" She pushed another few buttons, then said, "Hangar to TurboKat!"
Since T-Bone was busy with flying, Razor answered the call, saying, "Go ahead."
"Razor, you need to go to the hospital, right now!" Gwendlyn said. "Caliber is having the kitten!"
"Caliber is having, what?!" He screamed. "I'm on my way!" He severed the call, then said, "T-Bone!"
"I heard, I'll get you there, with plenty of time to spare," He said, then looked at his surroundings. Not seeing an easy way out, he pushed the throttle fully open and flew like there was no tomorrow. As he pushed the limits of what the TurboKat could do, he said, "Razor, you want to see your kitten being born? Use that brain of your and figure a way out of here!"
Razor looked at the rock walls on either side of him and the exit in the not so far off distance. He also too note of the formations, jetting out of the walls, which blocked their path.
"Sometime today, Razor!" T-Bone said, gripping the stick tighter, as he fought the jet.
Razor flipped a few switches on the weapons panel in front of him, then said, "Missiles, deploy!"
He launched six, plain old missiles into the roof of the formation, creating a large hole, when they exploded. "Bingo! T-Bone!"
"Don't have to tell me twice! Hang on!" T-Bone said, pulling back on the stick, causing the TurboKat to climb out of the formation.
Both Havoc and Sniper heard the explosion behind them and whipped their heads around to see what caused the explosion. Only to see the TurboKat, rising from the cloud of smoke.
Sniper smashed the Comm-link button on the panel in front of her with her left fist, and said, "That's not fair! Blowing a hole in the ceiling is cheating!"
"We concede! You win! My kitten is more important that this challenge! Caliber is on the way to the hospital now, to deliver our kitten!" Razor said.
"Go, we will be right behind you. As soon as we pick up out little Maven," Havoc said.
"Our little what?" Sniper asked.
Havoc made sure the radio was off, before she said, "Our daughter, Tina. You said she and the rest of our friend's children are the next generation of SWAT. Gwendlyn might as well have a Code Name."
"Kat, I like it! Let's go and get our little Maven, then meet the guys as the hospital. I can't wait to see the Maternity Nurse's faces when the SWAT Kats show up!" Sniper said. Then she turned the radio back on, and said, "Maven, go to my locker and grab my spare mask. Make sure its on when we pick you up."
Gwendlyn was confused as to who Maven was, and why would she need her mother's spare mask. "Are you sure you are on the right channel, Sniper?" She asked.
Sniper switched the radio to Secure mode, then said, "Maven is you, Gwen. Get my mask, you are going to need it, when Kat and I pick you up in the TurboKat 2."
"I get to fly in the TurboKat 2!?" She asked, right before she jumped out of the chair, turning it over in the process, and running to her mother's locker to get the mask. She opened it with such force, the door made a loud bang as it hit the locker to the right. She reached up onto the shelf and pulled down a black skullcap. She looked at the cap for a second, before slipping it over her head, transforming her into Maven for the first time, then looked into the mirror. Staring back at her was a young heroine. She tried to look intimidating, and came close, but without the rest of the uniform, she didn't look like her mothers. "This needs something." She said. She looked back into her mother's locker and found a pair of black fingerless gloves and put them on. But as she did, a knife hit the floor, encased in its sheath which was meant to be strapped to the wearer's thigh. She grabbed the sheath and attached it as tightly as she could to her left thigh, and look at herself in the mirror again. "That's much better," She said, then heard the TurboKat 2 approaching.
Havoc brought the jet in for a perfect landing, and coasted down the ramp. She brought the jet to a gentle stop, on the turntable, which at her command, spun her back around, facing the TurboKat 2 back at the hangar's entrance.
The canopy opened, and as Sniper turned her head to the right, facing the Console, Maven was supposed to be waiting by, she asked, "Where is she?"
"I'm right here!" Maven said, bounding out of the Locker Room.
Both heroines looked at their daughter, and saw a smaller version of themselves, running towards the jet. Maven looked, and acted just like Apprentice did, when Jake gave her, her Code Name. "Do you think we created a monster, by letting her into SWAT?" Sniper asked.
"No, But, I'm not sure if I'm ready to see my daughter as a Masked Vigilante either," Havoc answered.
Maven jumped as high as she could, her right foot landing on the left wing of the TurboKat 2, and her paws reaching up to hr mothers for assistance.
Both Sniper and Havoc reached out with their own paws, grabbed Maven's left arm, and pulled her into the jet, and Sniper's lap.
Sniper adjusted her harness to fit both of them, then secured it, while Havoc closed the canopy.
"Gwendyln, hang onto me as tightly as you can," Sniper said.
"Roger, Sniper, and its Maven," she said, as she grasped her mother's forearms.
"Alright, Maven. Havoc, hit the skies! We have a date with a kitten!" Sniper said.
"Roger, Sniper." Havoc said. "Maven, I hope you don't get Motion Sick?" She slammed the throttle forward, and the jet responded, instantly, shoving its occupants into their seats.
The G-Forces increased the faster and further up the ramp the TurboKat 2 went.
"This is sooo, cool!" Maven said.
Havoc and Sniper, smiled at their daughter's comment. Then the jet cleared the ramp and Havoc pulled back on the stick, launching the jet into the sky.
Razor was monitoring Ambulance Radio traffic, trying to figure out how far Felina was from the hospital. He was a complete nervous wreck, from not knowing how his future wife was doing.
"Will you calm down," T-Bone said. "She's with Empress! Empress can handle it, if something goes wrong, and she will NOT let anything go wrong! Caliber is going to deliver a very healthy kitten. Between Daniella, and Cheryl, Caliber will be in the best of care. Plus, once Henry finds out, I'm sure he will be there as well."
"I know what you are saying, T-Bone. But, she is my life. If something was to happen to her, and I wasn't there, I don't think I could forgive myself," Razor said.
"Get it through that thick skull of yours! Caliber is going to be fine!" T-Bone roared, trying to bring Razor out of his worry.
The TurboKat approached MegaKat General and saw an ambulance approaching the ER entrance. He watched as the rear doors opened up, revealing a male EMT, who reached back in, and helped Callie out of the back. "See, nothing to worry about," he said.
Razor watched from the jet, as the EMTs pulled the stretcher out of the ambulance, with Felina strapped to it. He did breathe a sigh of relief, until an apparent contraction hit Felina, and she slugged one of the EMTs.
T-Bone saw Felina take out the EMT with one hit, and said, "Even pregnant, she's as tough as nails! I can only imagine what your kitten is going to be like."
"Alex is going to be strong, like his mother, and have my smarts. Find somewhere to land, so I can be there when my little bundle of joy is brought into the world," Jake said.
T-Bone brought the jet into a gentle landing in the Parking lot to the right of the Hospital. Just as soon as he shut down the jet, he opened the canopy, and Razor jumped out of the jet, running as fast as he could to get to Felina's side. "You are going to love Fatherhood, Razor," T-Bone said as the TurboKat 2, landed right next to the TurboKat.
Havoc shut the jet down, letting the engines wind down, before she released the canopy. It opened as T-Bone approached, saying, "Caliber is probably up in the Delivery Room, if she hasn't knocked out an Orderly or two already."
Havoc had already unbuckled her harness and had her left foot on the lip of the cockpit. She jumped out of the jet, landing in front of T-Bone in a deep crouch, and slowly stood back up. And as she flipped her hair back over her shoulders, she said, "Caliber is going to be one of those patients, Sensei and Nurse Nancy calls, Difficult. Let's wait for Sniper and Maven, and we head up as a team."
"Who's Maven?" T-Bone asked.
"That would be me," Maven answered.
T-Bone turned around to see Sniper with her left arm around Gwendlyn who was wearing a black skullcap, black fingerless gloves, and a knife strapped to her left thigh. The only thing missing from her ensemble was a uniform, similar to Apprentice's. "Welcome to the SWAT Kats, Maven. Shall we go and see how much Collateral Damage, Caliber left in her wake, on the way to the Delivery Room?"
"Why would Caliber leave any damage?" Maven asked.
"You don't know your aunt the way we do, Maven," Sniper said.
The four of them laughed at Caliber's expense and went into the hospital, to wait for Caliber to give birth to her kitten.
