As you will read, Daniella and Cheryl will show the world, exactly how good they are with being doctors. They work so well together. Plus, being able to poke fun at their father/grandfather, knowing they can get away with it, is an added bonus.
Let's get that kitten born!
"The baby is what?!" Mark said, grasping Lisa's left paw in his.
Daniella knelt down to Lisa's left, by her legs. And as she went to examine her, she said, "This is not a time to be modest, Lisa. Lean back and open up, wide. I need to check your cervix."
Cheryl turned to the right towards the toms, and the newly-weds to her right, then said, "Unless you want an Up-Close view, I suggest you move, now!"
Everyone who was not assisting Daniella, or comforting Lisa, cleared the altar to give them some privacy.
Daniella lifted the skirt of Lisa's dress and held her legs apart. She reached under the dress with her right paw, pulled Lisa's panties down her legs, and saw her very dilated cervix. She removed her head, faced Lisa, and asked, "When did the contractions, really start, Lisa?"
"I felt little twinges, throughout the morning, but thought nothing of them," Lisa answered.
Mark was holding her left paw in both of his, much larger ones, completely focused on his wife, and asked, "Why didn't you say anything, Lisa? I would have taken you to the hospital, or called Daniella."
Lisa lifted and turned her head to face Mark, then responded, "I wanted to attend the wedding of our best friends, Mark,"
"Lisa, your health and the baby's well being is more important than our wedding," Callie said. "We could have postponed the wedding, giving you time to give birth and recover."
"I agree," Felina stated. "I'd rather see you holding your new kitten, than getting married today."
"Despite both of the bride's sentiments, you are going to give birth today, no matter what," Daniella stated. She turned to her father, and said, "Dad, call for an ambulance, she needs to get to a hospital, sooner than later and do you still have your Medical Bag in the trunk of your car?"
"Yes, I do," Henry answered, pulling his phone and keys out of his suit jacket pocket.
Daniella, lifted her head to her daughter, then asked, "Can you get my father's bag?"
"In these heels?" Cheryl asked, raising her right foot to show the two-inch spiked heels of her shoes. "It will take about twenty minutes to get to the car."
"Give me the key, I'll get the bag," Tina stated, as she removed her shoes. She walked over to Henry, extended her right paw, palm side up, and her tail whipping back and forth.
Henry dropped the key into her waiting paw, as he said, "It's the black Mercedes. The bag is in the trunk, all the way towards the left seat back."
Tina flashed a smile, then said, "I'll be right back." She took off towards the stairs, leading back to the house as fast as she could in her dress, kicking up the sand as she ran. After a few strides, she let out a frustrated growl. "Sorry, Kat. As much as you wanted to get me out of this, personally, I need my legs!" She said, right before she tore the skirt from the dress from her body, exposing her legs and a peek at her barely there underwear. "That's much better!" She said and ran much; faster. She arrived at Henry's car, a few minutes later and started to look for a lock to open the trunk. Not finding one, she took a look at the key and found a series if buttons. One of them looked like the rear end of the car with the trunk open. She pressed and held the button for a second, and the trunk lid's lock disengaged, letting the lifters open the trunk. "Isn't that convenient," she said, reaching inside to retrieve the black leather bag. After wrapping her left paw around the handles, she righted herself and closed the trunk lid. Then sprinted back to the altar.
Lisa leaned forward as the pain took hold, from a more moderate contraction, grasping her stomach. She held herself in that position until the pain subsided. She panted for a few seconds, then looked up to her husband, and asked, "Can you call my parents?"
"I'll call them, once I know you are safely on the way to a hospital," Mark answered.
Tina slowed her pace to a fast walk as she approached the altar. "Here's the bag," she said, handing it over to Daniella.
Daniella didn't even look back as she took the bag from Tina, saying, "Thank you."
Tina went over to Katerina, who was now standing behind Lisa's head, watching everything happening to their sister. She wrapped her left arm around Katerina's waist, leaning her head against her shoulder, and entwining her tail with hers.
Cheryl finished attaching an Oxygen monitor to Lisa's right index finger and as she rose, she turned her head to the right to see the two lovers' arms wrapped tightly around the other, as well as all of Tina's shapely toned legs. "Tina, once we get this kitten born, you are going to have to tell me how you maintain those sexy legs of yours."
Katerina didn't appreciate another commenting Tina on her legs. She narrowed her gaze at Cheryl, then she did look down to see all of Tina's legs, bare to the world. Her facial expressions didn't change. However, seeing her fiancée's completely bare legs, made her slightly aroused. She let out a primal growl, then said in her native language, loud enough for only Tina to hear, "I'm glad, Gwen is going over to our parents tonight. As soon as we get home, those sexy legs, as Cheryl called them, are going to be wrapped around me."
However, Felina did hear her. She smirked as she focused on Katerina, and said in Katerina's language, "Don't break her. You both have a shift in the morning."
Katerina's eyes went wide, as she remembered, Felina was able to understand her. "I made a severe tactical error, that I will not make again," Katerina said. "I promise, she will not be broken. Might be slightly dented, but not broken, future Commander Feral." She half lidded her eyes and lifted the corners of her mouth, giving everyone a sultry smirk.
Tina looked up at her fiancée's beautiful face. She snuggled into Katerina's body even tighter, then let out a purr, just loud enough for Katerina to hear.
Katerina heard and felt, Tina's purr. To her, it was one of the most erotic things ever, since Tina's purrs were for her, and her alone. She subconsciously lowered her right paw, below Tina's waist, grazing the cheek of her backside.
Gwendlyn was standing just behind her mothers. She loved their displays of affection. Even those little very intimate moments they shared, when they thought no one else was listening, or could see them. But, when she heard Tina purr and witnessed Katerina's response, she said, "Mommies, I know you two, deeply love each other."
Both she-cats turned around to face their daughter, with smiles on their faces.
Then Gwendlyn continued, "But, behave when you are out!"
Hearing the young kitten, scolding her parents, made everyone in ear shot laugh, including Lisa, which triggered another contraction.
"Ugh!" She groaned. The contraction ebbed after a few agonizing seconds, then she asked, "How far apart are the contractions?"
"Too close for comfort," Daniella said. She rose to her feet, as she said, "Cheryl, I need to talk to you." She turned to her father, and said, "Dad, keep her comfortable. Cheryl and I need to come up with a Plan B, in case the ambulance doesn't get here in time."
Mark didn't like hearing that. He grasped Lisa's paw tighter in his, and said to her, "Don't worry, Lisa. The ambulance will get here, and you will deliver a healthy kitten."
"You don't know that, Mark," Lisa stated. "Daniella already said the contractions were too close for comfort."
"I did," Daniella said. "That doesn't mean, you won't make it to the hospital in time. Even if you don't, I will make sure, you are able to give birth to your kitten." She grabbed her daughter's paw, said, "Let's go, Cheryl," and dragged her towards the bushes.
Once they were shielded from the rest, Daniella let go of Cheryl's paw, faced her, then said, "We are going to have to prepare to deliver the kitten here. I highly doubt the rig will get here in time, her contractions are way too close. I'm going to need you to be strong. Without the Anesthesiologist and the nurses to help, this delivery is going to be very difficult. I'm going to talk to my father, and have him do his best to keep Lisa's husband under control."
"Grandpa is many things, but Mark is the type of tom, who would rather die, than to watch his wife suffer. You really think, he will be able to keep him calm?" Cheryl said. She gently laid her left paw on her mother's right, and said, "I'll follow your lead, mom. I'm only a Pediatrician, not an OB. You know more about delivering a kitten, then I do. But, once this little one is born, stand back, and let me do everything I can, to make sure its healthy."
Daniella pulled her daughter into a tight hug, and said, "I expect nothing less, from you. My father is stronger than you think. Both he and mom love Mark and his family. Between dad and mom, they should be able to keep Mark calm. Let's get that kitten born."
They returned to Lisa. Daniella crouched down on Lisa's left side and Cheryl on her right. Daniella checked the Oxygen monitor, then asked, "How are you feeling, Lisa?"
"Ok, I guess. I'm nervous. This is our first kitten. I should be in a hospital, not in my friend's yard, bringing a new life into the world," Lisa answered.
"Relax," Daniella said. "You have the best OB and Pediatrician in MegaKat, taking care of you. And you have my dad, as our very handsome nurse." She purposely added the part to ease Lisa.
"Now wait a minute, daughter," Henry said. "I'm the Chief of Staff, and your boss!"
Daniella stood up, turned to her father, and said, "Yes, you are, when you are at the hospital. We are not there, we are on a beach, with my patient getting ready to give birth. I need you to be a nurse for me and Cheryl." She turned to Felicia, and asked, "You know what has to be done, tell my father what he needs to do, and he will do it!"
"Of course, doctor. Come on Nurse Feldman, we have towels, pillows, and other supplies to get from the house," Felicia said, taking Henry's right arm in hers and dragging him back towards the house.
Lisa let out another cry of pain, as a contraction took hold. She grasped Mark's paw very tightly, squeezing it with all her might.
"Cheryl, get the BP cuff and monitor from my father's bag. Monitor her blood pressure, every thirty seconds, and let me know if anything is out of the norm," Daniella ordered.
"Yes, mom," Cheryl replied and dug around in the bag for what she needed. She pulled out a black Blood Pressure cuff, a Stethoscope, and an old styled monitor, with the Mercury filled tube, white and black scale, mounted to a piece of stainless steel. She attached the cuff to Lisa's right forearm, put the ear pieces of the stethoscope into her ears, slipped the circular end of the stethoscope under the edge of the cuff, and started to pump the black bulb at the end of a tube, inflating the cuff.
The mercury started to rise, with each pump of the bulb, monitoring Lisa's pulse, with the stethoscope. She read the monitor, then slowly turned the valve at the top of the bulb, letting out the air, very slowly. "170 over 110, mom," Cheryl said.
"Too high," Daniella mumbled, her face was riddled with worry after hearing Lisa's Blood Pressure, knowing, a pressure that high could lead to Preeclampsia, or Cardiac Arrest. Followed by, "Where is that damn rig?"
Callie separated herself from Chance and walked over to Callista. She whispered into her left ear, "Can't we do something? I really don't like the look on Daniella's face, there is something wrong."
"Not unless we want to expose ourselves to everyone here, Callie," Callista responded. "There are way too many here, who don't know what we are."
"I'm not going to sit, idly by, while one of my friends is in distress, and not do anything about it!" Callie stated and went over to Lisa.
That didn't sit well with Callista. Lisa could have been one of her knights, and she is one of her best friends. If she couldn't do anything for her, then what type of friend was she. She joined Callie over by Lisa.
The two she-cats fell to their knees on either side of Mark and took Lisa's paws into theirs.
"Are you two sure you want to Out yourselves, like this?" Mark asked both of them.
"We're not, Mark," Callista answered. "We are going to Help Lisa, right Callie?"
"Right, Callista," Callie said.
"Lisa, listen to me," Callista said, as her paws started to warm. "Relax, breathe, open your mind to me. Concentrate on my voice, alone."
Callie followed her grandmother's lead and let her paws grow into a comforting warmth.
Lisa listened to Callista's relaxed and peaceful voice. She closed her eyes, letting herself go.
"That's it, Lisa. You're doing fine," Callista said as she used her powers, to take as much of the stress away from Lisa, as possible.
Cheryl took Lisa's Blood Pressure again, and said, "133 over 85, mom."
"That's not possible, check it again," Daniella said, shaking her head in disbelief.
Cheryl repeated the measurement, and this time, Lisa's Blood Pressure was even lower. "128 over 80, mom."
Daniella looked over to the two she-cats, who held Lisa's paws, then said, "I guess you two have something to do with her Blood Pressure, falling back into the normal range?"
"They probably do, daughter," Henry said, with his arms full of supplies. "You already know about the Higgins' secret. Well, these two are even more powerful than they are."
Daniella turned her head back to Callista and Callie, then said, "Whatever you two are doing, keep it up." She shifted herself between Lisa's legs, lifted the skirt up, examining her cervix again, then said, "This one wants out, now!" She turned her body, as far as she could to the left, facing her father and Felicia, then ordered, "Dad! Felicia! Spread those towels out around her lower body, find a surgical clamp, or something to clamp off the Umbilical Cord, and hold her legs open."
Henry, Felicia, and Cheryl went to work, getting the area prepared for the birth.
Cheryl reached into her grandfather's bag, and found a few instruments that could help her mother with the delivery. But she also needed something to keep the baby warm while she examined it. She frantically looked around the beach, hoping to find, something, anything, to keep the baby at optimal temperature. Then her eyes scouted one of the Warming Lamps the caterers were using to keep the food warm. "Chance! Jake! I need that warmer!" She said, pointing to the object she wanted.
"On it!" Chance said. "Come on Jake."
The two toms went over to the Caterer's tent and stood in front of the Warmer. Jake ran his paw under the Heat Lamp, quickly pulled back, then asked, "How much lower can this thing be set to?"
"About 95 degrees, why?" The caterer asked.
"We need it for the baby, being delivered, right now. Chance, unplug this thing and help me empty it," Jake said.
"Now see here! We need this to keep the food warm, not for a baby," the caterer stated.
Chance grabbed the caterer by his vest, then said, "My friend's child is more important, than your food! Understood?"
The caterer, gulped, as he looked into the displeased larger tabby's face. Then said, "Got it."
Chance let go of him and started helping Jake cleaning out the warmer, and disconnecting the power cord from the power source.
They quickly finished the job, and carried the warmer over to the altar. "This close enough, doc?" Jake asked.
"Perfect! Set it for about 98 degrees, and give it a wipe down. Then line it with the towels," Cheryl ordered.
The two toms made fast work of the tasks and the once food warmer was now a baby warmer.
Daniella noticed the head starting to crown. "Lisa, when I tell you to, push with everything you have," she said. She knelt between Lisa's legs, getting ready to assist Lisa with the birth, and said, "Push."
Lisa pushed with everything she had and held it for fifteen seconds. Then relaxed.
The head of the kitten was almost free from the birth canal. "One more good push and the head will be out," Daniella said.
Lisa took a few deep breaths, then pushed again. Her face showed the pain and discomfort she was in, but she endured. She held the push for twenty seconds this time, before taking a rest.
The head was now fully out. Only the body remained in the canal.
"You're doing great, Lisa. I love you," Mark said.
"I love you too," Lisa replied.
Cheryl started to sense something was wrong, since she knew the baby should have started crying by now. "Mom?" She said.
"I know," Daniella said. "Come on, Lisa. This should be the last one. Give me everything you got!"
Lisa pushed and held it. She screamed as the shoulders of the kitten passed, followed by the body and legs.
"Cheryl!" Daniella said, holding up the new born, for her daughter to take.
Cheryl didn't need to be told twice. She was on her feet, taking the baby from her mother, bringing it to the warmer. She started examining the baby, feeling a very faint heartbeat, but it wasn't breathing on its own. She picked it back up, turning it on its stomach, resting it on her right paw, and gave it a few firm slaps between the shoulders, to hopefully force out any amniotic fluid left in the airway. Despite the effort, the kitten still wasn't breathing. She quickly put the kitten back under the warmer, covered its mouth and nose with her mouth and started breathing air into it. She gave it ten breaths, removed her mouth, and checked to see if it started breathing on its own. Unfortunately, it wasn't. "Come on, breathe!" She resumed the Rescue breathing again.
"Mark, why isn't it crying? Is there something wrong with our child?" Lisa asked.
"I.. I don't know, Lisa," He responded and started to get up to walk over to Cheryl.
He was stopped by Henry. "Let her work. She's doing everything she can." He looked over to his granddaughter, worry clearly written on his face.
Jake and Chance were instantly by Mark, being the supportive friends. Then Chance said, "She's the best there is. Give her the space she needs."
Cheryl was not about to give up. She kept breathing for the kitten, then checked it heart. Her eyes went wide, then closed tightly, when she didn't hear it anymore. She silently said, "No!" Followed by, looking over her left shoulder, to Daniella, yelling, "Mom!"
Daniella was finishing cleaning up Lisa when she heard her daughter's call. She felt her daughter's distress, dropped everything, saying,"Take over for me, Felicia!" and went over to her daughter.
Felicia took Daniella's place, cleaning up Lisa.
"Felicia, what's going on with our child?" Lisa asked.
"I don't know, Lisa," Felicia answered. She didn't want to be the one to tell Lisa, the kitten was possibly Stillborn.
"Mom, breathe for it, while I start CPR!" Cheryl stated and started pushing on the kitten's ribs with the fingertips on her right paw.
Daniella placed her mouth over the kitten's mouth and nose, and started breathing for the kitten.
All of the SWAT family, and extended family, watched as the two doctors feverishly worked on the kitten. Each one had tears already forming in their eyes, almost knowing, the day of celebration was about to turn into a day they all were going to want to forget.
Bast was monitoring the birth, making sure Lisa came through, completely unscathed. She breathed a sigh of relief, once the kitten was born. But she wasn't expecting the kitten to be born in distress. She let out a roar, rattling the heavens. Once she calmed down, she waved her right paw over the image of the baby, and said, "I don't think so, little one. You have a long and very healthy life ahead of you,"
Cheryl finished another round of compressions, then turned her head to listen to its heart. This time, she heard it beating, strongly in its chest. "Mom, check to see if its breathing."
Daniella, removed her mouth from the kitten's mouth and nose. Then the kitten coughed up some fluid, and started crying.
The sounds of the kitten crying, brought smiles to everyone.
Katerina grabbed Tina around the waist, hoisted her into the air, kissed her, deeply, then said, "I love you."
"I love you too, Kat!" Tina responded.
Callie and Callista let go of Lisa's paws and went over to their respective husbands. While Mark returned to Lisa, cradling her in his lap.
Cheryl finally looked down at the baby, before picking it up, and swaddling it in one of the warm towels. She brought it over to its parents, handing it over to Lisa, who was waiting with open arms, saying, "Congratulations! You are the parents of a very healthy girl."
"A daughter? We have a daughter!? Can I see her, Lisa?" Mark asked. Tears of happiness ran down his face.
Lisa gently removed some of the towel, covering the kitten's head to reveal their daughter's face. Her eyes were closed, but she had a little pink nose, wisps of light fur on her cheeks, and shoots of blonde hair on her scalp.
"She's beautiful, Lisa. She's just like her mother," Mark said.
Daniella went over to her daughter, gently pulled her into a sideways hug with her right arm, said, "You did well, Cheryl", then kissed her between her ears.
"Thank you, mom," Cheryl responded, hugging her mother back.
The ambulance arrived and the three EMT's ran out of the rig as fast as possible, two of them with a stretcher, to the crowd of cats, standing around the parents.
"Who is the patient?" One of them asked.
"The one holding the newborn kitten," Daniella sarcastically answered, letting go of her daughter.
"If you would move out of the way," the EMT said, using a little more force than necessary, bumping Daniella with his shoulder. "We can get the mother and child to the hospital, to be checked out by a doctor."
"Excuse me!" Cheryl said. "My mother is one of the best OBs there is!"
"Oh, and who might you be?" The EMT asked, focusing on Cheryl.
Cheryl turned out her right leg, rested her weight on her left hip, crossed her arms over her chest, and answered, "I'm the kitten's Pediatrician."
"Then you know, I have an important job to do. Move, so we can get to work," he said.
Even though, Mark was basking in the joy of seeing his new daughter, hearing the EMT verbally abusing Daniella and Cheryl, made him want to teach the EMT a lesson. "Please excuse me, Lisa," he said, as he lowered her back to the altar's floor.
Henry and Mary quickly figured out what Mark was about to do. They stopped him and Mary said, "Let my husband deal with this. You have a family to be with."
Mark turned around to see Lisa being transferred to the stretcher, as she held the swaddled baby in her arms. He went back to her and took her left paw in his.
Once Mark was focusing on Lisa again, Henry strode over to the EMT, than said, "What gives you the right to speak to anyone in a disrespectful manner?"
"I have a job to do, and those two she-cats were preventing me from doing so. Even if they are doctors, they don't have privileges in this city."
"Those two she-cats, are two of the best doctors in my hospital! If they weren't here, she would have given birth to her daughter, without any Medical Attention; at all, since you took your time to get here!" Henry retorted.
Henry's justified rant, attracted Ulysses, Zeus, and Beatrice's attention. All three went over to support Henry, anyway he needed. Then Ulysses asked, "Is there a problem, doctor?"
"Doctor!?" The EMT asked, facing the two large toms, and a she-cat who looked like she could handle herself, quite well in the fight.
"Did I forget to mention, I have been the Chief of Staff for twenty five years at MegaKat general?" Henry asked.
The EMT stood there silently, facing Henry, not knowing what to do.
"Oh, did I also forget to mention, one of them is my daughter, and the other one is my granddaughter?"
"Those two she-cats are your relatives?" The EMT asked.
"Yes they are. Are you going to continue to speak to them, disrespectfully? Or are you going to give them the respect they deserve?" Henry asked.
"My apologies, doctors," the EMT said, and walked back towards the ambulance, where his partners were loading Lisa and the un-named kitten.
Once the ambulance left, Odin walked up to Cheryl, and said, "You handled yourself, quite well, doctor."
She turned to face one of the most handsome toms, she has ever seen. Between his short dark hair, dark eyes, broad shoulders, square chin, she was hooked. She bent her right knee, emphasizing her very feminine form, let her tail sway slowly, then said, "Thank you. Who might you be?"
"My name is Odin, one of Felina's younger brothers. Does the lovely doctor have a name, or do I have to address you as Doctor, when I ask you for a date?" Odin asked.
"Let me get this right, I'm covered in Baby Goo, and you are asking me out?" Cheryl asked.
"That I am. I've always been attracted to smart, compassionate, not to mention, down right beautiful, she-cats. The Baby Goo, as you called it, shows you care for your patients, and you aren't afraid to act, no matter the circumstances," Odin said.
"Alright, Odin. I'll go out with you. Let me get cleaned up, then you can tell me more about yourself, say on the Dance Floor? This is a wedding, after all," she said, then gave him a quick kiss on his left cheek, then slinked her way out to her parent's car, to get a change of clothes.
Odin watched her 'Walk' away towards the cars as his left paw, covered the spot where her lips touched his cheek. "What a she-cat!"
"That she is, and she's my daughter!" Max said.
Odin turned around to see, Max and Daniella, standing behind him, with their arms crossed over their chests.
