Story 50
Convergence Point Pt 1
If someone asked Emily what her least favorite class was, she would have to say it was Gym. Not because of anything that the teacher did. No, Mrs Gostelow was quite solid. It was just everything she was having them do was less than interesting. Would knowledge on how to do a push-up or a squat. Better yet, why was their test of speed based on running in a zig-zag fashion? Wouldn't it be better to have it in a straight line? Better yet, why were they always done up in groups of six? While the class was large enough to justify it, it still felt like an odd decision on her part.
"Emily, did you hear about the satellite that appeared in space?" one of her classmates announced and Emily forced her gaze over. Standing before her was a girl with her hair done up in purple twintails. Sporting a plain lilac shirt decorated in stars with a pair of pink pants, a pair of girly light-up sneakers finished the look out perfectly.
"Alyssa, don't space people send satellites up all the time?" Emily answered and Alyssa shook her head. Glad as she was that this conversation wasn't a repeat of the man who supposedly floated through space and back down to earth.
"Yes, but my dad claims that this one has supposedly been out of contact for the last couple years. Who knows what kind of data might be on there?!" Alyssa announced and got an eye roll from Emily. Much as she appreciated her friend's interest in space, she could honestly care less.
"Forget data! I heard there was a giant laser on board! What could be cooler than that?" a boy sitting not that far from them announced and got a look from both girls. Did he really need to butt into their conversation? Just rude on his part. Especially with the limited time they had before PE started.
"I can think of a bunch of things." Emily countered and turned back to Alyssa. Watching her classmate open her mouth up, but no words come out. Instead, her gaze turned ahead. Emily did the same, her gaze just catching a glimpse of Mrs Gostelow. Dressed in an unflattering blue tracksuit, a pair of pale blue eyes stared upon all of her students. Black locks with a blue tint had been left short, which hadn't really stopped her hair from coming as 'gooey'. Nothing in the way of makeup, unless one counted the strange blue tint her face had in the right lighting conditions. Sadly, the gym was not one of those places capable of achieving that. Even if you tried to stare at the light created from her wedding rings. A pair, Mrs Gostelow always seemed to expertly evade all questions when it came to the lucky man or woman who hooked her.
"Good morning, class." Mrs Gostelow announced and waited a moment for the students to focus on her rather than each other. Once she was certain everyone's attention had, the PE teacher cracked a smile. "Today, we'll be playing capture the flag. Partner up in groups of six. Remember, these will be your teammates for the entire class. So choose wisely."
Emily sighed, trying her hardest to push away the negative feelings that surged across her body. Of course it had to be a team sport they were playing. Why would it be anything else on this awful day? To start things out, she had managed to roll out of bed. Breakfast hadn't been any better for her. Somehow, Volcdramon had managed to get a hold of all her favorite cereals during the night. So when she got down, the only cereal that was left was plain old wheat circles. The blandest of cereals, Emily couldn't even think of a reason for keeping it around. She would've asked Mommy and Daddy to help her make something, but they were arguing about something dumb. Actually, the argument seemed to last quite a while and there was the sound of glass breaking. Mommy better have not hurt Daddy for some reason. If Mommy had, then she would need to go away for a long time. So long in fact, she might not ever get to see her Mommy.
While that was all happening, Volcdramon was attempting to put her at ease. But all the stupid dragon princess did was make the child angry. Why did she have to be the one who needed to play with her? She was Mommy's partner. It was her job to play with Volcdramon and make sure she was okay. Especially when Volcdramon had a nightmare and began calling Mommy's name. Kind of like last night. She was right underneath her window, flailing about and making her room feel far too h-
"Emily, is there something wrong?" Alyssa announced and Emily found herself flushed out into reality. Shaking her head, she could feel doubt laughing at her.
"No, just daydreaming." Emily muttered and stood up. Looking around, she found only Alyssa by her side. Everyone else looked to have already partnered up into their group of six. Was there really not enough students or did no one want either of them? Probably that.
'Doesn't that frustrate you? Don't you want to show them the ways they made you feel like abandoning you to this loser?' a voice announced and the world around darkened. Looking ahead, she was met with a large deer creature. Covered in chains, they sway about in the nonexistent wind. Their horns had been broken, while their fur looked to give the appearance that they were perpetually on fire. It actually felt quite comforting for Emily.
"Yes." Emily announced as chains wrapped around her body. Pulled right into the deer creature, she felt her body get absorbed into the larger creature and moved about within. Mind racing a mile a minute, she could feel malice and violence enter her heart with gleeful abandonment. Yes, she could very easily make them all pay. Especially as her own body was forced to be right beside the deer's head. Was actually quite sounds of screaming and tears echoed forth, footsteps rushing about as her vision was returned. Tinted red, she couldn't wait to show them all. "Now, who am I going to play with first?!"
Silence fell over the gym. Most of the students had chosen to skedaddle to somewhere else, leaving just Mrs Gostelow. Unfazed by all of this, was this normal for her?
"Me." the PE teacher announced and ripped off her tracksuit. Throwing it to the side, her actual outfit was now on full display. For today, that meant a sleeveless dark blue top and a pair of almost tight pants. Slip-on shoes cover her feet, while her hair hangs down without a care in the world. "Sis mea pars!"
Even after saying the magic words, nothing happened. Not that Mrs Gostelow expected any to do so. That would be silly. But she pushed that thought off and cracked her knuckles. Sadly, the results weren't quite up to snuff and she was met with confusion from both heads.
"Really? You're just going to shout some gibberish in the hopes of scaring me away? Pathetic." the deer creature announced and got a chuckle from their opponent.
"No. Just felt nostalgic." Mrs Gostelow announced and ran head-on for the deer creature. Mwt with fiery chains, those did little to faze her. Grabbing hold of one, she tugged with all her might. While her opponent didn't move, that was more than enough to close the distance between the two of them. Pulling her arm back, she got a couple punches in. Puddles of water formed in front of the creature, their presence going right under their radar.
"I hate PE! I hate having to do team activities! Why can't we do something like jump rope or play on the playgrounds?!" 'Emily' announced as she attempted to grab hold of Mrs Gostelow. But all that head accomplished was the PE teacher slipping right through her hands. Landing gracefully with a backflip, that too created a puddle at Mrs Gostelow's feet. Letting out a sigh, she tried her best to ignore the memories rushing back to her. For as much as she kept her past buried, Polly Gostelow knew that it would rear its ugly head (or heads, in this case) in some fashion.
"Emily, you're going to spend a huge amount of your life around people. Some of which are going to feel like complete and utter douchebags. But once you get to know them, that sometimes turns out to not be totally the case." Polly announced and looked around for any surprise visitors. While the monk magi could easily end this fight, she suspected certain people wanted a piece of action for old times sake. But not right right now.
"Liar! Liar! Liar!" the deer creature screeched out, a cone of fire shooting forth once they had finished speaking. Polly dodged to the left, rolling to close the distance with her opponent. The results were less than spectacular. While she could easily rack up a combo from this distance, she was putting herself greatly at risk. No, a different solution was in order.
Aquaport!
The deer creature's heads looked about, trying their hardest to find wherever it was that Polly went. She had to be somewhere in this room. They had watched her disappear right before th-
Seaside Throw!
A pair of watery hands grab hold of the deer creature's underside and throw them up into the air. Landing in such a way to not destroy the floor, Polly now sat on top of their back.
"No fair! You obviously cheated!" the deer creature announced and began pounding their hooves against the floor. Not coming close to bringing the building down, it did make the puddles on the floor grow even wider.
"No, you're just picking a fight with someone far outside of your skill range." Polly countered as she delivered a couple kicks to the deer's back. Jumping off right after, that did get her even more fire. Taking the form of fireballs, that managed to set the fire alarms off. Bellowing forth their loud and obnoxious tune, Polly did her best to tune it out. No worse than disparaging remarks and insults thrown her way by people who assumed that they were far tougher than her in English pubs in the summer. But that didn't matter right now.
"How the heck was I supposed to know that?! Not my fault I got tied to a shitty human." the deer creature countered as they tried to ignore the fire alarm. Easier said than done here.
"Language, Emily. I will not tolerate you swearing." Polly countered and charged at the deer head. Getting an uppercut in, she dashed back a couple steps as her opponent charged up yet another cone of fire. Missing her entirely, the sprinklers activated. Raining down water in the hopes of quelling whatever it was that was attempting to burn down the gym. "Secondly, thank you for making it easier to fight you."
Emily stared up at the droplets coming down. Yes, the deer creature wouldn't be able to bring forth fire as easily. But there was no way that her PE teacher could actually disappear into the dro-
Looking about, the deer creature found themselves all alone. Their opponent could be thinking of trying the same trick before - just now without the vocal cue. She would have to be an absolute idiot for thinking that they would just let her pull it off once again. No, they would be ready for her. Launching out the chains from their body out to flail about at their sides, there was absolutely nowhere that they could be hit.
Watery Grave Punch!
A fist slammed into the deer creature's back side. Doing little to stagger their large body, it was more than enough to catch them off guard.
"Boo." Polly announced as she followed that attack up with a series of punches. Looking through the deer's creature's legs, the monk magi caught a glimpse of someone. A familiar someone. Took them long enough to get here. With that out of the way, her attention turned back to
"No fair! No fair! No fair! You keep cheating!" 'Emily' screeched as the deer creature spun around. The deer head began charging up heat around its mouth. Likely for a beam-based attack, she just needed to distract that stupid PE teacher long enough in order
Stýlos tou Ádi! (Pillar of Hades!)
Or would've, if not for the massive pillar shooting out of the ground and colliding right with the deer creature. Afterwards, a tall muscular figure made his presence known. Dressed in a dark green cloak, grayish pink skin met that of silver eyes. Clawed fingers sat at the figure's side, complimenting the gray slip-ons that covered his feet.
"Attacking a child? I thought I taught you bett-" the figure announced, only to get beaned in the face with a wedding ring. Not even flinching, he scooped the jewelry up and slipped it onto his ring claw.
"Says the person who dropped a pillar right on one of my students." Polly announced, only to follow it up with a chuckle. Leave it to Fatemon to enter like that. Much as the monk magi would've preferred him to show up after the fight was over, this worked as well.
"Guess that makes us even then. How have you been, my beloved?" Fatemon answered as he lunged at their target. Smashing his fist into the deer creature, his gaze was already back on his wife.
"There's been good days and bad days after you and Chacha left." Polly answered and forced her focus to their opponent. Letting out a deep breath, she calmed herself. The time for reminiscing and catching up could come after work was over. Even if this incident and likely meeting of the parents would come a lot faster than originally planned. For now, they needed to get through this bout.
"I could say much the same, but I suspect your fists and feets can tell me a far clearer story." Fatemon countered, energy surging around his hands.
Arcane Wrath!
A beam of water shot forth from the harem mage's hands, depositing with it even more puddles as the pillar disappeared. The deer creature's heads tried its best to decide who exactly to
"I don't want a word about this being unfair from either of your mouths. Especially without knowing anything about my partner." Fatemon continued and was met with an eye roll.
"You look like the kind of man mommy sometimes talks to over the phone." 'Emily' announced and was met with chuckling from Polly. Getting a look from the harem mage, a shrug followed. While a couple digimon had asked if he had been in the adult entertainment industry, the answer was always the same - no. Minus that one time that he absolutely coughed a feel at Aaron at someone's bachelor party. But that was his little secret, brought about by Joey being the truly useful person that he was and attempting to talk about advancements in AI and refusing to shut up. Even after he threw a tantrum that there weren't any drinks for him. Mostly because they hadn't expected him to come in the first place. Beyond the point.
"I assure you that I'm not." Fatemon as they lowered their hand to the ground.
Aichmés tou Titána! (Spikes of Titan!)
Jagged spikes of earth traveled down the length of the gym floor and right into the deer creature. Staggering about right and left, they tried their best to focus on either of their targets. But all that accomplished was getting neither in their crosshairs.
Mermaid's Droplet!
Punching her fist into the deer creature, Polly grabbed hold and threw her opponent as far back as she could manage. In this case, that was the full length of the gym. The deer creature skidded to a stop near the side wall and casually walked back to their spot.
"This is fun, but let's finish this." Polly whispered and disappeared into a puddle. Appearing right in front of Fatemon, she felt her partner grab hold of her hand. Gripping it tight, their gazes met that of the deer creature.
Unity: πολεμικός τάφος (Watery Grave Inferno)!
Taking in the massive amount of water that covered the gym floor, a watery tornado spun about. Picking up the opponent, then came intense heat. Warming the water up to a boil, that was all it took for the deer creature's body to begin shrinking down. Now resembling a small red fawn, that was Polly and Fatemon's cue to let the attack end and run over to the digimon.
"Emily?" she whispered and watched the fawn digimon look up. Attempting to cower on the floor, the results were less than spectacular. "Hey. We're here for you. We just didn't want you to hurt yourself or the building.
"Mommy will reject me if she sees me like this…" Emily mumbled and found herself met with a strange screen. Holographic in nature, she could make out a bunch of fancy text

Polly concentrated for just a moment, her flesh giving way to blue slime. Clothes disappearing, a non-issue when your entire body is just a pile of goop. Carefully pawing at it a couple times, she eventually pulled that hoof back.
"Hybrids are humans capable of turning into digimon. To what extent is based on a variety of factors that I and my friends don't quite understand." Polly continued and let her body turn back to its more human state. Looking over to the door, she could just make out the principal. Dressed in their nicest business skirt suit, they didn't look particularly amused by this situation. But at the same time, they didn't look mad.
"Mrs Gostelow, do you have an explanation for what just happened… right?" the principal announced and was met with a nod from the couple. Letting out a sigh, her attention shifted over to Polly.
"Possession by her digimon side. I've seen worse, Mrs Chambers." Polly explained as they made their way over to the principal. Exiting the gym, the group made their way down the hallway. Taking care to create as little of a fuss as possible, that was easier said than done as they passed the various classrooms students had chosen to hide in. giving a wave their way, it did little to quell their fears. Polly didn't blame them for feeling that way. A good chunk of them had gotten a front row seat to their classmate turning into a deer creature. If that didn't leave some kind of mental scarring and/or deer-related phobia, there were definitely issues that might need addressing sooner rather than later.
"Are you going to call my mommy and daddy to tell them what happened?" Emily inquired and Fatemon nodded, getting a look from the principal in turn. While not a teacher (in this world at least), he was still his wife's partner.
"Yes. They'll likely need to pick you up." Mrs Chambers explained as they turned a corner. The hallway continued on a bit further, eventually opening up into a hexagon-shaped room. There, the principal office and the various other administrative offices necessary for running not just the school but the district as well. Even had easy access to the outside world by way of a second hallway leading outside. But that sadly wasn't where our heroes were going today. Instead, they were heading for one of the doors off to the side. Coming to a stop, Mrs Chamber's gaze turned to Polly. "Also, we had a woman claim to be your daughter. Care to explain that one to me?"
The monk magi let out a sigh and shot her husband a look.
"Hey. It was Chacha's idea, not mine." Fatemon answered as Mrs Chambers opened the door up. Passing through, the couple followed right behind. Compared to the gym they had just left behind, the principal's office wasn't really anything to write home about. Light green walls met that of a brownish beige carpet. Chairs had been set against one of the side walls, the reception desk sitting right across from it in anticipation of anyone who might show up to sign their kid in or sign them out. There, a woman stood patiently. Pale white skin on limited display, a black victorian-style bustle covered their body. Lacy short gloves cradle a closed bell parasol, while dull blue eyes framed by faded lime green hair and purple lips stare out at the couple. Fangs hidden for now, one could make out a pair of black boots with short blocky heels just peeking out from the hem of the bustle. The finishing touch was a large leather suitcase. Large enough to hide a body, it looked to be filled to the brim with various outfits expected of a Victorian lady.
"Took you long enough." the woman announced and picked her parasol up. Met with an eye roll from Polly, she still took the time to give her partner and Fatemon a hug. Then it's right back to looking at Mrs Chambers. "Oh right. I am Chacha Gostelow. Godchild of these two brawling numbskulls."
Mrs Chambers nodded and let out a sigh. Walking over to her phone, she caught a glimpse of the Sailor Neptune clock she kept in her office. Relatively untouched by time and all it had to throw at her, but this was something else.
"Let me call Emily's parents. I trust that you three will be here if something goes wrong?" Mrs Chambers announced and was met with three nods. Pulling her phone out, that didn't stop the principal from shooting them one more look. Just to make sure.

And so begins a mini-arc. I'm actually excited for this.
