Story 50B
Convergence Point Pt 2
Veronica tried her hardest to ignore the incoming frustration of her ringing phone. It was obviously not good. Why else would someone be calling during a meeting? Letting it ring on, the HR specialist turned her attention back to the meeting. Larger than the normal affair they held, what purpose was having all these insignificant ants here in one place? She had just got a new stamp - one perfect for declining the time off for anyone dumb enough to dare to ask. All employees were necessary to keep the entire company moving. The last thing they needed was their competitors to get an upper hand. Shoving that thought away, she shifted her attention to the front. The current CEO was standing in the middle of a makeshift stage. Dressed in his finest suit, was he about to announce that they had another year of record-breaking profits? Veronica hoped so. Would mean a healthy bonus and absolutely shut up her stupid partner. Why was she the only one who had to deal with such an awful partner? All the other stories she had heard made it sound like they were an absolute joy to be with. But not hers. No, the only thing Volcdramon did was whine and attempt to corrupt her daughter. Neither of which she was actually able to accomplish. Thank fuck for that. But that didn't matter right now. Everything would work out and she would still lord over the emplo-
"I have gathered you all here today to make a massive announcement. We have been bought out by a much larger company." the CEO announced as gasping echoed across the audience. Waiting just a moment for the shock to die down, he tapped the microphone. "I would like to pass the mic over to our new owner, Miss Lilithmon!"
Silence fell over the room as Lilithmon walked up onto the stage. Looking Veronica right in the eye, the demon lord of last was met with a chair. Grabbing it with just one hand, she handed it off to the CEO. Shooting one look Veronica's way, her attention was back on the audience.
"As your new owner, things will be different around here." Lilithmon started and waited a moment for dramatic effect and to make sure that Veronica could get all her pent-up anger out. The latter more than the former. Debatable at best, but still worth the effort. "To start out with, vacation days will now be approved. Within reason."
Right after saying that, Lilithmon found herself treated to another chair thrown her way. Catching that one as well, she set it off to the side.
"You littleā¦" Veronica muttered and began wading down to where Lilithmon was standing. The nerve of that bitch to take away her power. How dare she trample over her parade. So what if the HR specialist was absolutely abusing her power. She was well within her rights to deny those employees of days off they did not deserve in the slightest. That was the whole point of being an HR specialist in the first place. Why could these pe-
"Where do you think you're going, Veronica?" a voice called out and Veronica found her way blocked off by a massive sword. Pulling her fist back, she smashed a hand into the weapon. But all that accomplished was a loud 'crack' echoing forth from her wrist. A sound even more noticeable once she had been lifted up into the air and held out for everyone to get a look at her. Bad enough that her hand was broken, but now Veronica was the center of attention.
"Oh my. I didn't know that one of the Olympos XII was working here." Lilithmon announced and the holder of Veronica just shrugged. By no means her intention to be called out in that manner, it was going to happen eventually. Better now than during a moment when secrecy was actually necessary.
"We'll talk later then. What do you want me to do with this rat?" the woman announced and shifted which hand that she was holding Veronica in. Scrambling about, that only made her captor tighten her grip to prevent any escapes. Standing up, she made her way over to the exit of the meeting area.
"You can't do this to me! I'll sue! I'll sue!" Veronica screeched as she attempted once more to get herself out of this situation. In the process, that just brought even more eyes on her. The last thing she needed right now. Heck, some of them sounded like they were laughing at her. Nothing about this was remotely funny to her. Especially as the pair entered the lobby. Still under construction from Volcadramon deciding to make her entrance here. Setting Veronica down, the woman took the time to hold the door closed.
"If I were you, I would suggest answering your phone. It's probably important." the woman announced, looking down to meet Veronica's face. But all that got her was the phone thrown right at her face. Falling to the floor, the cellular device remained unharmed from the abuse.
"Why don't you answer it then?!" Veronica screeched and watched her captor scoop the phone up. Taking the utmost care to unlock it, she brought it up to her head.
"Hello, I'm Mervamon - a co-worker of Veronica's. She's currently being a bitchy brat that left her manners outside with her digimon partner and needs a parent. What is the problem?" the woman announced and waited a moment for the person on the other end of the phone to finish talking. But once they did, her expression changed. Bringing the phone down, it took everything in her power to not punch Veronica.
"Mervamon, what is happening here?" a voice called out and brought with it her partner. A man, he had gone for the regular office attire. An absolute charmer, Mervamon met his pale green eyes and fair complexion. But not before glancing over to the pair of rings on his left hand. The first, was a normal wedding ring. Second, was a loop of digizoid (one of two) she had painstakingly punched and shaped until it was just right.
Letting out a deep breath, she threw the phone over to her partner. Watching him raise it up to his ear, he was met with likely a lot of confusion. Probably would've been better to fill him in, but she had a whiny cry baby to deal with here.
"Yes, I'm Mervamon's partner. We are currently trying to get Veronica into a state where she would actually talk to you. Might I suggest calling her husband? He seems a lot more receptive to this news than she would be. If we can get her calmed down, we'll at least try." Mervamon's partner announced and listened. Looking over to his digimon partner, a deep breath escaped his lips. They were well out of their league here. Mervamon might be one of the strongest digimon that both worlds had ever known, but this situation was unlike anything he or perhaps her had even dealt with before. Perhaps that was why the warrioress digimon had passed the phone off to him. Not that he could really grasp the full extent of the words he heard, let alone imagine what had happened.
"Veronica, your daughter just turned into a digimon. The least you could do is co-" he announced, only to be met with black flames. Dodging them to the best of his abilities, he was pulled away by his partner.
"Lorence, do you really think I give a fuck about my daughter? You make me laugh." 'Veronica' announced as more black flames appeared around her hands. Met with Mervamon's large blade, that just made her laugh even harder.
"That's it? You cast her off the moment she's no longer how you wanted her to be?" Mervamon countered and went for a swing. Slamming the weapon right into the HR specialist, the warrioress digimon watched her opponent take the full brunt of the attack.
"You'll have to do better than that." 'Veronica' countered and floated up into the air. Shooting forth fiery black chains, they grab hold of Lorence. Choking him tight, that didn't stop him from holding the phone out and give the people on the other side a much clearer picture. While unable to get there in time, there was still a chance that this could make all the difference. At least, that was what the employee told himself as the oxygen left his body.
Night Stalker!
Extending her left arm out, a large snake gauntlet appeared and bit down into 'Veronica's' upper half body. Releasing a poison as a follow-up, that only got the warrioress digimon pushed back.
"It's her own fault that she got herself turned. If anything, blame my husband for not knowing what he was getting himself into." 'Veronica' continued as Mervamon began hitting the chains wrapped around her partner. If she could just get him out, then maybe she could get in a proper counter attack. Or something along those lines. Gritting her teeth, she smashed her blade into the chains one more time. "Look at you go. If I didn't know any better, you were trying to get him off."
Her words rolled out and red energy flooded Mervamon's greatsword. Was it really necessary to make a snide comment about her attire? No. Now, 'Veronica' would just need to accept the consequences of that action. Slicing through the chains in a single motion, she charged at the HR specialist. Slamming her into a wall, Mervamon watched 'Veronica' peel herself off. For a brief moment, she could make out not the HR specialist but someone else entirely. A strange large black diamond creature - a demon lord.
"I am Belphemon, the rage of all worlds. Consider yourselves lucky that I have a couple of my so-called 'friends' to beat the sh-" Belphemon announced, only to be met with a ball of purple gulp. Looking in the direction of the door that Mervamon had pushed close, they were met with Lilithmon. Now sporting her kimono, the barb of which was pointed right at Belphemon.
"For the record, none of the lords wanted to go through with your plan. But you told us that it would work perfectly. Now tell me how it actually went." Lilithmon announced and silence returned to the lobby.
"Wonderful. I had to pretend that I was a lowly wife while at the same time abusing my power. All while I bided my time in the hopes of my full power being brought forth." Belphemon announced and pointed a 'claw' in Lilithmon's direction. Lilithmon pushed the appendage down, purple liquid now covering her nails. "But you just had to waltz in and steal my thunder."
Lilithmon rolled her eyes.
"Yes, I did steal your thunder. Only because leaving you unchecked while I plot my own revenge is simply too dangerous." the demon lord of lust announced, catching a look from Mervamon in the process. Ignoring it for now, her focus hung to Belphemon. Even as Belphemon took the opportunity to shoot a chain out and grab hold of her phone. Pulling it over, all it takes is a single crushing motion to destroy the cellular device. Not that there was anyone on the line at this point. If they were, they would probably call her husband in order to get a much more pleasant experience. "Heck, I was willing to let you keep your position. But you had to throw a chair at me like the toddler you actually are. Get out of my sight or I will melt you away."
Belphemon shoved her former co-worker away and stormed off in the direction of the door out. Leave it to tits-for-brains to try and get in her way. She never did learn not to get in other's way. All the more reason to just drop the entire building on everyone. Yeah, that would show them all the consequences of trying to get in her way.
"It's how that old saying goes. You reap what you sow." Belphemon announced as fiery black chains appeared at her sides. Shooting them into the wall, they were met by Mervamon's blade.
"If that's true, then I'm about to kick your ass for all the vacation time you've refused to approve." Mervamon announced and cracked her knuckle. Charging right at the HR specialist, she wasted little time in laying waste to her opponent. It felt so good to let loose, even if it would likely not be enough to really maim or even kill Belphemon. No, a demon lord of this caliber needed a more specialized solution. One that required the cooperation between multiple digimon and their humans in order to have a chance of succeeding in the long run.
"Well, let me give you an actual reason to need to take them." Belphemon countered and slammed a chain right into Mervamon's chest. The warrioress digimon did her best to weather the blow, but all that got her was a massive wound in that area. Responding with a stab with her greatsword, the wound created was nothing on the same level as that. Didn't even come close to matching what had been inflicted on her.
Nazer Ball!
A purple ball of goop formed in Lilithmon's hand. Thrown in a manner akin to that of a baseball player, it reached Belphemon with relative ease. Landing right in her wound, that oddly made a pair of goat horns appear on Belphemon's head.
"Thanks, Lilithmon." Belphemon cooed and cracked a smile. Throwing Mervamon over to the demon lord of lust, that was the cue for the HR specialist to make her exit. In turn, Lilithmon flipped her former co-worker off.
"Good to know that you're still as awful as ever." Lilithmon muttered as Lorence ran over to his partner. Coming to a stop when he reached Mervamon, the chosen pulled the warrioress digimon back up. Then came examining the wound. While not life-threatening, it was definitely not something you want to have out in the open for enemies to get cheap shots.
"I've taken worst." Mervamon announced and lightly tapped Lorence's head. The pair's focus shifted to Lilithmon. Standing a couple feet away, a string of unprofessional words escaped her lips. "Uh.. sorry about that."
Lilithmon shook her head. Forcing the negative thoughts in her head to dissipate, a deep breath escaped her lips.
"Don't be. This was going to happen eventually." the demon lord of lust muttered and dug her phone out. Punching in the number, she raised the phone to her ear. If this was the game that Belphemon wanted to play, she would just bring down the full extent of all she had to offer down upon her.
