A/N: Thank you everyone for all the reviews. It keeps me motivated to get this story out of my head and which direction to take it.
Enjoy!
Right before summer gave way to autumn Kohaku expressed his desire to visit with Sango and her family before winter. While he didn't doubt that she had received the letters both he and Izumi had written he wanted to be able to talk with her face to face.
Izumi agreed to go with Rin as well to visit with her friends. Naturally Sesshomaru followed Rin. Kohaku assisted Izu onto An-Un to sit side saddle. Sitting behind her and taking the reigns he gave a nod to Sesshomaru as he lifted Rin up into his own arms to carry her personally.
It amazed Izumi at how quickly the dragons could run before launching themselves into the air as she had only seen them lazing about.
At the higher altitude the air was a bit cooler indicating the change of season soon. Her eyes darted all around taking in the land below them. It was only her second time in the skies, the first being when she was brought to the manor, and it amazed her at how small it all looked from above.
"You look like a little girl." Kohaku said amused. Moving her eyes to him she smiled.
"Why do you say that?" She asked.
"Your expression. You look just in awe." He replied.
"I am."
"You don't have the ability the fly?"
"No. I was never taught to be able to manipulate my energy in such a way. I haven't even been able to fully master this form let along something like that." Tugging at one of her ears for emphasis she smirked.
"Well love, I have no complaints about any form you choose to take." Kohaku smiled back leaning forward to kiss at her cheek. Izumi leaned back against him and giggled softly placing her hands over one of his.
"Look Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin wriggled in his arms craning her neck around at the different sights.
"Hold still Rin." Sesshomaru said as she fidgeted.
"You won't drop me my lord and even if you did I know that you wouldn't let me fall to my death." Rin stated receiving a slight glare from her mate as if she had the audacity to say such a thing.
Tossing her head back she laughed out settling herself against him so as not to cause him any more worry. "I wonder what everyone in the village is up too. Oh! Maybe if they can we can be wed. It doesn't have to be anything grand just to say that we are husband and wife."
"If that is what you wish." He replied.
"We do not have too my lord if you do not wish it. I am perfectly content with how things are between us, you already are my husband and so much more." She offered.
"No. We will marry." Sesshomaru said. He knew it meant a lot to Rin to have her customs as he did with his own. Up until now she had been exemplary having to adjust to a life that she had never even considered, it was the least he could do to make her happy.
Touching down in the village Sesshomaru placed Rin down on the ground as Kohaku skillfully eased the dragons down some ways away so they would have enough space to touchdown properly.
Helping Izumi down he offered her his arm walking together as Rin ran ahead happily calling out for her friends.
Kagome was the first to exit her hut and smiled widely. Opening her arms up as Rin ran to her the two embraced tightly for a moment.
"Welcome back." Kagome said.
"Thank you Kagome. I've missed everyone here."
"Hello Kohaku, Lady Izumi. Hey Sesshomaru." She greeted everyone friendly enough.
"Lady Kagome." Kohaku greeted with a nod. "Is Sango around?"
"Sango is probably in her hut. She hasn't been getting out much these days." Kagome replied.
"Oh?" Kohaku asked concerned.
"Nothing bad. Come on. I was heading over myself shortly. I'll go with you guys." She said motioning for them to follow her.
"How have things been Rin?" Kagome asked.
"Great! Izu and I are both pregnant with Lord Sesshomarus children." She enthused.
"Both of you? That must have been…fun." Kagome blushed at the idea.
"Oh! No, it was um, I'll explain later." Rin laughed out at her friends embarrassment. Kagome knocked on the door frame and called out to Sango.
"Hey lady, you've got visitors."
"Coming." Sango called back and exited a few moments later visibly pregnant. "Kohaku!" Closing the gap between them she took her brother into her arms tightly.
"Hey Sango. Congratulations." He said.
"And to the both of as well." Sango nodded looking in Izumis direction. "I received your letters. Lady Izumi," Taking Izus hands in hers Sango smiled, "I am more than happy to call you my sister."
"Thank you Sango and please, just call me Izu. That is all I want to be known by." She said offering her own kind smile.
"Izu it is then." Sango agreed before making her way to Rin and giving her a tight hug before greeting Sesshomaru.
Before long the four sat with tea in hand enjoying the day as Sesshomaru and Kohaku sat beside their mates.
"Kagome, if it isn't too much to ask would you be able to marry Lord Sesshomaru and myself before we leave?" Rin asked hopefully.
"Sure." Kagome smiled widely. "I'd be honored. Inuyasha and Miroku will be back within a day so I'm sure they'd be happy to attend."
"Thank you so much Kagome." Rin settled leaning slightly against Sesshomarus side feeling the butterflies erupt in her stomach. They were going to be married, officially. She had everything she wanted and more, her short forever with Lord Sesshomaru.
"What about you two? Ready to tie the knot?" Kagome asked looking at Izumi and Kohaku.
"I don't understand what you mean Kagome." Izumi looked to Kohaku who just shrugged unsure as well.
"Get married. Do demons have a ceremony to give yourselves to one another?" Sango wondered.
"A mating. The male marks the female during copulation but it is done in private. For those of us who are considered to be of social standing then it is announced be it a mating or a breeding." Izumi explained.
Listening intently Kohaku hadn't known that. Deciding to talk with her about it later it did bother him slightly that he had not known of this custom.
"Hm. Did Inuyasha ever do that to you Kagome?" Sango asked.
"He tried to once but I 'sat' him. When I asked him why he tried to bite me he said he didn't know." Kagome thought out. "Oops." Shrugging she sipped at her tea.
"There are many things that Inuyasha does not understand about his nature." Sesshomaru spoke softly seeming annoyed almost with Kagome that she had denied his brother to claim her.
"Well, there's nothing stopping you from explaining it to him." Kagome quipped back receiving a glare from him.
"Inuyasha is not perceptive to what I have to say, regardless of the matter."
"Now I wonder why that is? Oh, maybe it's because you were an asshole to him his entire life." Rin watched wide eyed as Sesshomarus hackles visibly raised and she put her tea down smiling at Kagome.
"Lord Sesshomaru marked me some months ago now. It didn't hurt too badly Kagome and it healed quickly." She said trying to mend the tension that has grown suddenly.
"Maybe I'll talk to him about it. We've married a long time and he's never brought it up again so it might not matter too much to him." Kagome said.
Izumi snaked her eyes to take in Sesshomaru who seemed to have relaxed but was indefinitely displeased with the woman's words.
"I would very much like for Kohaku and I to be wed." Izumi stated to help Rin clear the air. "Before we go go back to our compound."
"Aw! Double wedding!" Kagome exclaimed happily. "I am more than happy to Izu. How sweet. I'm so glad that you've found someone Kohaku, I mean the situations a little weird but as long as you're all okay with it."
"We are a strong unit." Kohaku replied. "A pack. Having children shows that we are confident in our abilities to provide and protect."
"Good. As long as you're happy Kohaku. That's all I've ever wanted for you." Sango said sincerely as tears sprung to her eyes.
"Please don't cry Sango." He answered as she wiped at her face laughing embarrassed at herself.
"I cry over everything these days."
"Do not dismiss your tears." Izumi said. "They show how much you care for your brother."
"Thank you." Sango took a deep breath and excused herself momentarily. Kagome took Rin to her hut to go over what she would need to do to prepare for her wedding telling Izumi she would go over it with her as well in private.
"Izu, care to go for a walk?" Kohaku stood offering her his hand.
"Have I ever said no?" She queried. Taking his hand and placing a hand to her back.
"It's funny how Sango is expecting another child at the same time we all are expecting ours." Kohaku mused as they strolled along the path between the rice patties.
"It must be a good omen." Izumi said with a shrug. "A sign that we will be prosperous and thrive."
"I agree." Kohaku nodded his head. "So, thought up of any good names?"
"I am not telling." Shaking her head slightly she smirked at him.
"Why not?" Kohaku chuckled out.
"I want it all to be a surprise. To see what everyone else comes up with." Placing a hand to her stomach she smiled wistfully. "It's exciting. I'm looking forward to having this one, to be his mother."
"Good." Taking her hand in his and placing it in the crook of his arm she leaned closer to him.
Sitting outside of the hut Sesshomaru listened to what Kagome was telling Rin. Mostly it was what to expect of the ceremony and her part as the female.
"Normally I would tell you what to expect on your wedding night as far as wifely duties go but looks like you've got that covered." Kagome said laughing to herself.
"Yes, thank you. We manage." Rins face erupted into a blush as she cleared her throat.
"I've gotta ask; are you all like together…together? Or take turns?" Kagome questioned.
"Oh no! It is strictly Lord Sesshomaru and I are mates. Izu and Kohaku are mates. That's it."
"But Izumi's pregnant with Sesshomarus kid so they slept together." Kagome pried.
Opening her mouth she heard Sesshomaru call her name in the way he did when he requested her attention.
"Yes my lord?" Rin called back sweetly.
"Come."
"Yes my lord." She said. "I'll catch up later with you Kagome. Thank you so very much for agreeing to marry us."
"Anything for you Rin." She replied as Rin made her way out. Sesshomaru was standing already some distance away as Rin followed behind him.
Leading her towards the outskirts of the village he stopped when he was certain they were out of earshot of anyone else.
"Rin it is imperative that you do not tell anyone how Izumi came to be pupped by myself." Sesshomaru said. "If others were to find out that we did not physically engage one another then it could be seen as not legitimate."
"Of course. I wasn't going to tell Kagome how it happened. That should remain between the four of us, no one else needs to know."
"I apologize then."
"No need. I understand your worry over this. It feels as if we are treading on thin ice as it is. The last thing I would do would be to jeopardize that."
"Clever girl." He praised as he would have done when she was younger. "One of the many traits I have always admired about you."
Blushing at the compliment Rin did the only thing that she knew to do when he caught her off guard, smile.
