Hi lovely readers.

Thank you so much for all of the reviews on the last chapter. It seems that lots of you really liked that one which was SO nice to read.

This prompt was requested by abrht0907. I hope this is okay for you. I didn't leave it until as late in the pregnancy as you requested (I know it's totally possible for people to discover their pregnancy until much later) but I feel like this is something Amy would just kind of know if I left until really late. I did make it just little bit later than I normally would for my stories.

Enjoy reading!

They hated to use the word whirlwind but that's exactly what the last few months had been, a complete and utter whirlwind. Time had run away with them, their days would fly by and before they knew it almost three whole months had passed since they had won their Nobel prize and embarked on the biggest accomplishment of their careers and really their lives.

They had both, particularly Sheldon, longed for this moment throughout their whole lives. Since being a child it was all he had dreamt about. When he was asked in class what his dreams and ambitions were he would always answer that they were to one day win a Nobel prize. Teachers were always quick to dismiss the idea, deep down he knew that maybe his family doubted him too but he paid them no mind.

Although, it sounded incredibly cliche, his wedding day was where everything fell into place. Both for his personal life and for his career. The reevaluation of their theory, in that little room with Amy in her wedding dress (in that moment, Sheldon was sure she was the most beautiful human being on earth, he was certain she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen) and her lipstick in his hand, faced with a mirror filled with calculations was when their future was shaped and everything changed. They just didn't know how much.

The last few months had been a snapshot of celebrations with friends, family and colleagues. Interviews on their theory and how it felt winning such a prestigious prize, lectures and talks to inspires the next generation of scientists as well as an overwhelming sense of tiredness and busyness like they had never known.

"Sheldon" Amy called from the bedroom. Having just sat down on the couch to put on his dress shoes, he was reluctant to move but could tell from her tone that she was in need of help. "I can't get this up" she sighed, her hand was bend round her back as she tugged at the zip.

"Wow, you look wonderful." They had decided that tonight would be their first date night since winning the Nobel, it had been the first weekend that neither of them had anything to do, so naturally, like the super team they were, they had put time aside for each other.

It had been a while since Sheldon had seen Amy really dressed up, it seemed that all he saw her in recently were formal work clothes. Not that he was complaining by any means, she looked amazing in everything but tonight, she really did take his breath away.

At first he was sceptical of her new look. He had fallen in love with the Amy that had been changed, the long hair that would flow past her shoulders, the jumpers and cardigans and how nothing ever really matched. He quickly realised that underneath it all she was still the same Amy, she was and always would be that Amy he fell in love with.

"Thank you. But I won't look wonderful if I can't get this dress on" she complained with a huff. He could tell it was stressing her out, she had been a little snappy lately and, come to think of it, a little emotional too.

"I'm sure it's just stuck" he explained as he walked over to her. He took hold of the zip and gave it a pull, Amy was right, it didn't budge.

"Don't break it" Amy exclaimed as she felt him try again, tugging at the zip that was refusing to move.

"Hang on let me.." he didn't finish his sentence and instead tried to bunch the material together at the top of the dress in the hope that the zip would smoothly glide up. It didn't work. "Amy, I don't think it's working" he admitted defeat after a few minutes of trying, there wasn't a lot else he could try if Amy was so concerned about it breaking.

"I don't understand" she sighed. She turned her body to the left and then the right, gazing at her reflection in the mirror. She had only worn the dress once, not too long after they had returned home from Sweden, she had had no problems then, she couldn't understand what had changed. It looked noticeable tighter around her middle, the more she looked at herself the more it looked like the material was slightly stretched to accommodate her. "Do I look like I've put on weight?" Amy asked the dreaded question that ever man hated to answer.

"Um.." he probably started to answer the question in the worst way possible. He should have just given a simple no but the truth was he had noticed that she had gained a few pounds. It didn't matter to him at all, not in the slightest, but now she was stood before him asking him that question, he couldn't find the words quick enough to reassure her.

"Oh my god, I have haven't I? I mean, I sort of knew but now my clothes aren't fitting and you think I'm huge," he could tell she was growing teary again.

"Amy" Sheldon placed his hand on her shoulder from where he stood behind. "You are absolutely not huge" he could definitely reassure her of that. As he too started to gaze at her reflection in the mirror, he also noticed the tightness of her dress around her middle, it really didn't seem too tight anywhere else, maybe that's just the place all her weight went too. Growing up with a mother and sister he had often heard conversations about how all of their weight gained went to their stomach or legs, to their hips or bum.

"I feel it" she sighed, her lip sticking out, all pouty and sad.

"Well stop feeling that way. Whether this dress zips up or not you look wonderful" he was feeling guilty now for not reassuring her straight away about not gaining weight, that he was now trying everything to make her feel better. It was very true though. She looked amazing.

"Thank you. But you're my husband, you have to say that."

Even though it had taken a lot of persuading on Sheldon's part, he had finally managed to get Amy out to dinner. This had meant changing out of the dress that didn't seem to fit and change in to one that did, even though that one was a size bigger but they wouldn't talk about that.

Dinner had been lovely and was just another reminder of how much they loved being in each other's company and how much they loved each other. Although, Sheldon enjoyed the evening, he had actually picked up on how at times Amy seemed a little off.

The food that she always ordered and normally loved, he found that she was picking at and she barely touched her desert. He was, by no means an expert in this field at all but something just didn't feel right.

That night in bed only seemed to confirm Sheldon's thoughts. As they cuddled close, Amy commented that she didn't like the smell of his cologne, it was the cologne he always wore on special occasions, the one she normally loved. As his arms wrapped around her and lingered near stomach, something felt different.

"Amy" he started carefully, knowing that this may not get the best reaction but if he didn't voice it now he wasn't sure he ever would.

"Mhmm" she mumbled, he could tell she was sleepy.

"I was thinking that maybe you should go to the doctors" he suggested slowly.

"What? Why?"

"I've been watching you, okay" he unwrapped his arms from her and sat upright in bed, showing her that he was serious. "Something just seems off and I'm worried about you." She too was sat up in bed, her beside light turned on so that she could see him. There was a part of her that thought he was joking but when she saw the expression on his face and looked into his eyes she realised he was deadly serious.

"Sheldon, I don't understand"

"You've been off certain food. Certain smells have you on edge, you're snappy one minute then emotional the next and then there was that dress this evening that wouldn't fit" he reeled off all the symptoms he had clocked over the last few weeks.

"I'm fine" she told him gently, she found his concern sweet. "I'm sure it's just hormones and a mix of everything that's happened lately" of course she was referring to the madness that had surrounded them after their noble win. "We haven't really had two minutes to just relax and I'm probably just worn out" she explained. Although, Sheldon wasn't one hundred convinced, Amy really was trying her best to reassure him. His concern had really got her thinking.

Without mentioning a word of it to Sheldon, Amy managed to schedule herself a doctors appointment for in three days time. Although, she hated to admit that he was right, what he was saying was true, things weren't quite right, something just didn't add up and she knew she couldn't put it off any longer. If everything was okay then she didn't need to mention a thing.

"Is there any chance you could be pregnant?" the young female doctor asked a few days later and after Amy had reeled off all of her symptoms. Symptoms that she hadn't really been aware of until they were pointed out to her, by her husband of all people.

"Um…no" she hesitated but she knew for a fact she definitely wasn't pregnant. Surely, if she was pregnant she would know. She knew her own body. She definitely knew her body better than Sheldon who was really the reason why she was here in the first place. "Well, I guess my husband and I…" Amy stopped herself from revealing too much information, it was just ramblings that we're going through her head.

"Would you object to taking a pregnancy test? Many of your symptoms sound like the early signs of pregnancy and it would be sensible to rule that out before we take this further" she explained gently.

It was only now that Amy started to worry. If she wasn't pregnant, which she was sure she wasn't, what else could be the hell wrong with her. How further was further? How far would this have to go? How many tests would she have to endure?

"Sure"

Amy's head was reeling, she was sure this had to be a dream. Any moment, she was going to wake up and she and Sheldon would laugh at how ridiculous this whole thing was. The test had come back positive. The two lines that greeted her really were as clear as anything she had ever seen, if she needed clarity on the matter the two red lines were glaringly obvious.

"This can't be r…" she was in a state of shock. She was sure she had been sat rendered speechless for the last few minutes. How could she be pregnant and not know? How could she have a whole little life growing inside of her and not have a clue?

"I understand this is a little bit of a shock" the doctor sympathised. "Can you recall the date of your last period? Just so we can roughly gage how far along you are?"

Amy couldn't. She didn't know. Since returning from Sweden, life had been going at 100mph an hour, she barely had time to think, let alone time to track anything else. Was it even before they left for Sweden?

"I'm actually not sure"

"Okay, well we can carry out an ultrasound and see if we can determine the date of conception" she explained. It wasn't long before Amy found herself lying on the bed with her top rolled up and her skirt slightly lowered, her bare stomach on full show. It was only now that she was seeing it, really seeing it. Her small rounded stomach that really wasn't what she had thought it was the other night when the dress wouldn't fit. It was small, very small, but now that she knew, it was definitely there. "This might be a little cold."

Everything felt like it was a complete blur and she knew that when the time came to recall this moment to Sheldon, she wouldn't be able to remember a thing. Sheldon. She had to tell Sheldon. How would he react? This really wasn't part of the plan and she knew better than anyone how much Sheldon hated diverting from a plan.

Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted when she heard the gentle thud and whoosh of her baby's heartbeat. She had never heard a baby's heartbeat before but in that moment she knew exactly what it was, like they were connected already, she just knew.

"Oh my" the doctor spoke, as she took in the image on the monitor and continued to move the probe around Amy's stomach.

"Is everything okay?" it surprised her how worried and concerned she was about this little person she didn't even know existed two minutes ago.

"Everything is great. It appears you're a little further along than I initially thought but baby looks great" she explained.

"How far along am I?" Amy asked. Terrified, her mind jumped to the worst case scenario where she was told she was due to give birth in just a few weeks.

"I'd say from looking at this you're ten and half weeks"

To say Amy was freaking out was a huge understatement. She didn't know how but in the doctors office, she had managed to remain calm and have some composure. Yet, now, now that she was home and alone and waiting for Sheldon to return she was starting to panic.

Her heart was racing in her chest and her palms were sweaty. It was the strangest feeling to know that in a matter of just under seven months, she was going to be a mother. Sheldon would be a father and they would be a family.

When Sheldon returned home, he found Amy pacing around the small living room. Pacing was something she did when she was stressed or worried and after knowing her for many years, he instantly knew something was wrong.

"Can you please tell me what's going?" Sheldon pleaded. He had managed to get her to sit down on the couch but now it seemed like she was just staring in to space. "I'm worried about you."

"I went to see the doctors today" she could feel the wobble in her voice starting.

"Oh god. Are you okay? Please tell me you're okay" every worst possible thought was running through his mind now. He couldn't lose her, she was far too precious, far too important to him.

"I'm okay" she told him, her smile trying to hold back her tears as she reached for his hand. "They…um…they ran a few tests and…um…" she couldn't find her words. "Sheldon, I'm pregnant" having it out in the open, sharing the news with someone else suddenly felt like a huge weight off her shoulder.

"You're pregnant" he repeated, just so he could really get his head around the news, he suddenly had a rather nervous feeling in his stomach. Maybe this was what impending fatherhood felt like.

"They think I'm about ten weeks" she felt somewhat guilty saying this out loud. Who doesn't know they're pregnant? Let alone ten weeks pregnant.

"That far" even he was surprised. Amy was up from the couch now, pacing again.

"I know it's such a shock and totally unexpected. I know a baby wasn't part of our plan, well it was part of the plan just not right now and this apartment," she stopped and looked around her, their place was tiny. "How are we supposed to raise a baby here? How are we supposed to raise a baby period?" when she had finally stopped rambling and turned to Sheldon, she saw he was just staring at her and smiling. "Why aren't you freaking out?" she asked, if anything he looked happy.

"Why are you freaking out?" he asked.

"What.. I don't…" his reaction confused her no end. This is not what she was expecting at all.

"We've talked about this. We want children, it's just happened a little earlier than we planned" he explained. For the second time that day, she was lost for words, how in a situation like this was he the one remaining so calm.

"You're really okay with this?" she asked. It was only now that it dawned on her, now that she knew Sheldon was okay with everything, that it really hit her. That she was about to be someone's mum and what an amazing thing that was going to be.

"Yeah of course" he nodded. "I kind of knew you were pregnant anyway."

Thank you so much reading. As always reviews are always welcome and so appreciated!

Prompts are still open however, I have suddenly received quite a few (which is amazing, thank you) so just bare in mind if you request it might take a while for me to get round to it.

Stay safe

Lots of love.
