Hi lovely readers,

Thank you so much for reviewing the last chapter. This prompt was requested by a guest and is a (loosely based) follow up to The Project Partner so if you want to give that a read before this, then please do. I hope this is okay and what you were after.

Thank you so much for requesting. Enjoy!

Young love was something that Sheldon Cooper was unfamiliar with. When he was at the age where people would roll their eyes and mutter such a thing, he was far too busy investing in his studies. The opposite sex and the whole concept of falling in love were so far from his mind, he couldn't understand why others his age were so fascinated by it. In reality, Sheldon didn't fall in love until much later in his life, he was in his mid twenties when he met Amy and even though he knew he felt something strange and unexplainable from their first meeting, it still took him a number of years to admit that he, Sheldon Coooer, was actually in love.

Lacking in experience on how one would feel falling in love at such a young age left him incredibly confused and unsure how to react to what he had just witnessed. What had been a quick glance out of the window suddenly had his rather intelligent mind working overtime and jumping to conclusions.

His hand upon her waist, her hand resting upon his shoulder, their lips on each other's. Sheldon didn't even know his daughter was dating. She was only 15, in his mind that was far too young to date, it was definitely far too young to be kissing boys on the street.

"Will you calm down?" Amy laughed, as she sat at her dressing table that evening, removing her mascara as she got herself ready for bed. Her husband had been rambling on about what he had seen earlier that day, their daughter kissing Will, a guy that was supposed to be her study partner. Nothing more.

"Did you know?" Sheldon asked, "you don't seem remotely shocked at all," he wasn't sure how he would react to his wife and daughter keeping such a huge secret from him. If Emily was dating, he at least needed to be in the loop.

"No, but it doesn't take a lot to see how much she likes him. How happy she is, you even said yourself she was smiling," Amy explained, maybe it was mother's intuition but she knew her daughter better than anyone and Will had definitely made an impression on Emily. Amy couldn't remember the dates exactly, but this seemed like the longest project going, she was wondering whether now it was just an excuse for the pair to see each other.

"I think we need to talk to her" he told Amy as he sat down on the bed, what he would say to her and what they needed to talk about he didn't quite know but now felt like a moment to say such a thing. Amy rolled her eyes, he was still taking this very seriously and Amy knew that she just needed him to think like someone that wasn't studying for his doctorate at Emily's age.

"We?" Amy turned to look at him with an eyebrow raised although she very much wanted to be part of that conversation, mainly to watch her husband squirm, she knew it would do absolutely no good for Emily. "Sheldon, she'd be horrified if she knew you saw her kissing someone" she told him, thinking back to when she was Emily's age. Regardless of the fact that they were very different teenagers at that age your parents are the most embarrassing people in the world. "Look, I can have a word with her if you like," Amy reassured him when she saw the look of concern on his face.

Sheldon nodded. Maybe it was better if Emily had this kind of conversation with her mother, he knew that he would probably only make things worse. He wasn't ready for any of this, he wasn't ready for all of the drama that came with having a teenage daughter, all the tears and heartache. Why couldn't she have just stayed little forever.

"I'm not sure how much it'll work. She's fifteen. We have to let her grow up."

"I know" Sheldon sighed as she started to undress and put on his pyjamas. "But it only seems two minutes ago that she was playing dress up and playing with dolls," he reminisced back on her childhood, when she was this tiny little girl that thought he was the most important person in the world. It was true what people said, he didn't even realise it then, but time really did fly by so fast, even Arthur was now twelve.

"I know" Amy completely shared his thought process, when she realised how old her children now were it made her regret not having more. She absolutely loved having little children round the house, if they had more with a similar age gap as Emily and Arthur, they could have an eight and four year old. It was a bittersweet thought. "But that's just how life goes isn't it" she shrugged as she crawled into bed.

"It wasn't my life" Sheldon answered, as he too pulled back the duvet and got into bed next to his wife.

"It wasn't mine either" Amy laughed, "but I wouldn't want her to have that kind of life anyway." Emily wasn't a child genius like her father and she wasn't an overachiever like her mother however, she was still incredibly smart. Amy took pride in their parenting technique, that they had prioritised Emilys interests and happiness over anything else, her parents simply hadn't done that and piled on the pressure even at the expense of Amy's childhood experiences and friendships.

"You wouldn't?" he seemed surprised. What was wrong with being a child genius?

"Absolutely not" she shook her head. "I love the fact she's living her life and being a teenager, a real teenager, it's all part of growing up."

"I just wish she wasn't kissing boys on street corners" Sheldon sighed. He did share Amy's views however, he would much rather Emily was sat at her desk in her bedroom trying to pull apart a theory or writing papers.

"Sheldon" Amy laughed, when he was like this it was clear to see why Emily could be such a drama queen. "She kissed one boy at the bottom of our driveway, that's all"

"Yes, well kissing is how it all starts isn't it. It's all touching and then coitus and that's…"

"Whoah, whoah" Amy spoke placing her hand upon his shoulder. "I think it's time to go to bed don't you, you're jumping ahead quite bit," even she didn't want to think about that, for now Amy was happy to believe it was all rather innocent. After all, despite what Sheldon thought, Emily was always very sensible.

"Fine" he huffed, as he turned to switch off his bedside lamp, Amy did exactly the same before they met in the middle for their usual goodnight kiss.

"Love you" Amy whispered.

"I love you too"
