A/N: Thank you for the encouraging reviews. So happy that this story is still being enjoyed and this current arc is accepted. I was very hesitant to post it because it involves the OC and I have tried very hard not to make her a Mary-Sue. Think I have succeeded.

Enjoy!

Rin went to the deck and found Nen standing guard.

"Nen, have you seen Kohaku?" She questioned.

"Lord Kohaku is in the wooded area." Pointing to the right Rin thanked him and walked down the steps. "Lady Rin, I am under strict orders by both lords not to allow you to venture far."

"Thank you Nen. I'll bring Master Jaken with me." She offered.

"The imp?" Nen asked curiously.

"Yes." Rin smiled. "Master Jaken took care of me and protected me as a child, he will accompany me and I will be quite safe."

"My lady…"

"Don't worry. Everything will be just fine." Rin said with a small wave running to the back of the house. Coming upon the stables she stopped to see An-Un.

"Hey you two." The dragons raised their heads before practically tripping over themselves to get to her. "I know, I've missed you both too."

Scratching their heads as they both vied for her attention she allowed herself the momentary distraction with her friends. "Very soon you both will meet Hotaru and Hisashi. You'll both love our pups."

"My lady." Glancing behind her she saw Mitsuo.

"Hello Mitsuo. Please just call me Rin."

"Are you certain?"

"Yes." Smiling Rin nodded her head.

"Rin, I have not been able to thank you properly for sending for me." Mitsuo said respectfully.

"It was nothing."

"It meant everything." Mitsuo sighed out. "I'm sure it hasn't been lost on you that I am not a young man."

It hadn't been. It was obvious that Mitsuo was older, already in his midlife, at least twenty or so more years older than she and Kohaku.

Giving a small nod she turned to him despite the dragons still trying to get her attention. "Emi and I met when I was younger, quite some years ago now. We had planned on running away together but she vanished. When I went to her flock I was awarded with this…" Pointing to a long scar down the side of his face he sighed again.

"I had not realized you were in love for so long." Rin said. "The way Emi spoke of you it was as if it were recent."

"I had thought she had forgotten me. Still I never married nor had children and now for that I am grateful." He said happily. "I thank you Rin from the bottom of my heart for reuniting me with my lost love."

"You are most welcome Mitsuo." She said. "Actually, can you assist me with something?"

"Of course. Anything."

Kohaku struck the tree with his kusurigama. Ripping it back he caught it reeling in the chain. It didn't help. He had been at it all day felling several trees with the large blade but it did nothing to alleviate his rage.

"Kohaku." Rin said. Turning quickly he saw the farmer Mitsuo with her. He felt fear and anger at her being away from the house.

"Rin, you shouldn't be here." Tensing he was by her side in an instant.

"I'm alright Kohaku." She assured. "Thank you Mitsuo. I'll go back home with Kohaku."

"Yes Rin. My lord." Mitsuo said walking back the way they had came. Kohaku watched him leave before gripping his weapon handle tightly. "You should come home, to be with Izumi. She'll want to see you when she wakes up."

Turning quickly he launched his blade at another tree trunk shouting from the effort as he did so. Staring at it as it made contact Rin waited until he recalled it to approach him further.

Placing her hand to his shoulder she felt him shaking. "Lets go home Kohaku."

"Home." He repeated.

"Yes. We have a home now, with a family waiting for us. Do you remember when we were little and we used to wish we had families again. Even when you didn't remember yours, you still wished for one." Rin said.

As his shoulders slumped he shook his head. Dropping his blade he turned to Rin with tears in his eyes.

"Izumi believed all this time that I would protect her, that I was capable to care for the children, you." He said.

"You are Kohaku. I can't even count how many times you saved me, kept me safe…"

"I am not a good mate for her." Turning his eyes away he cleared his throat. "Once I am certain that Lady Izumi is well enough I will be going back to the demon slayer village."

"No." Rin said sternly clenching her hands into fists. "You won't."

"I'm sorry Rin but I have already made my decision and told Lord Sesshomaru of it." As he spoke she understood what Sesshomaru had meant.

"This was a terrible thing that has happened but we will get through it together. We are pack. Family. We need you Kohaku." Rin spoke firmly but gently all in the same. "Come home with me Kohaku."

"I'll escort you back." He said simply. As they approached the estate Rin tried again to get him to go inside with her.

"Izumi will not recover without you by her side." She appealed. "If not for any other reason than let it be that one."

Shifting uneasily he finally followed her in to the room he shared with his mate. Sesshomaru had changed into his demon form lying with his head against Izus.

Kohaku seemed to freeze forcing Rin to grasp his hands and lead him to the futon. "Lie down next to her, your wife, and let her know that you are here."

Stiffly he did carefully placing his arm against her and burying his face into her neck. Rin sat next to Sesshomaru at the head of the bed as the pups slept soundly within reach.

Sniffling Kohakus frame was suddenly wracked with sobs. Rin put her hand to his head running her fingers through her friends hair in a soothing manner. Sesshomaru edged closer to Kohaku in a comforting gesture.

They remained as such until both Kohaku and Rin fell asleep.
