Guest - I am currently working on the next installment. The story isn't dead, do not worry. I don't know when I'll have it done though.
Omnipotent X - Oh no, it's all good, buddy. I didn't mean anything negative by it.
A/N: There is a song in the chapter, written in Spanish no less, but it's no big deal. Give it a listen when you have time, really good. Credit goes to the original artists.
Dance was the language of movement. With no words, a dancer could tell stories just by the way they moved. It was a hard language to learn, one that required grit and determination, but for Ashido Mina, it was the greatest way she expressed herself.
She bathed in the cheer of the crowd, all eyes on her and her magnificent form, as she both wowed and decimated her opponents on the dance floor. The lights flashed and danced, and her score soared as the arrows disappeared, perfect after perfect ratings singing from the speakers.
Pinky was in the zone. The dancing queen was in the castle.
"Who else wants some?" Mina posed, making the crowd erupt in another round of cheers. She turned to her latest victim and offered her condolences. "Sorry, Midori, better luck next time."
Falling to his knees, Midoriya Izuku panted heavily after losing the dance battle. He put up a good fight, but in the end, he was outclassed. His opponent was too skilled.
"You're… too good, Ashido-san."
"You ain't half bad yourself, Midori, but you're no match for the queen," Class 1-A's breakdancer held her head high.
"You did great, Midobro," Kirishima helped the powerhouse off the platform. "Mina's always been a fierce dancer though."
On this beautiful Sunday afternoon, the entire class, ordered by Mina, took a trip to a local arcade to take their minds off the stress of heroism. No one objected, but after Mina spotted the unoccupied dance machine, her switch flipped, and so, it became an arduous journey to dethrone the queen. So far, only Bakugo and Mineta, somehow, had managed to even come close.
"How is she not tired?" Kaminari pointed out.
"Too hyped on victory," Jiro shrugged.
"Give me another round! I'll kick her ass this time!" Bakugo stated.
"You had your chance," Mina retorted, "and like the others, you failed. I want new talent. I still love you guys though."
"She definitely has the energy," Shoji commented.
"However, her sportsmanship needs work," Iida replied.
"Come on!" The queen beckoned more challengers. "There must be someone out there who can handle the queen! Shu-kun, get your big frame up here!"
Of course, Momo wasn't going to leave her boyfriend out of the picture.
"It's time to show off to Momo-chan!"
"We are in the middle of something!" a rare burst of anger from the class's Vice President silenced the queen immediately and left the others surprised.
"B-But the queen demands it!" Mina pouted.
"You will be calling me Empress if you keep it up," Momo growled. "Don't make me come over there."
"Okay, I'll be good," Mina squeaked.
"Wow, what's up with her?" Sero inquired.
"She's in the midst of battle," Tokoyami answered. "Fate has pitted her against an unstoppable force for a reward unlike any other. It's the motivation keeping her going."
"You would be an awesome storyteller," Koda said softly.
"…Thank you."
"I will not be distracted from this," Momo declared. "I won't."
The onyx-haired beauty stood on one side of the battlefield while her adversary stood on the opposite side. In their hands was a single paddle, and in the center of the field was a black air hockey puck.
The game was simple. The first person to score seven goals was the winner. Right now, the score was tied 6-6 with Momo serving. She had a lead, but Kyoya turned the tables and tied up the game. Momo couldn't afford to mess up now. It all came down to the final round. It was her first time playing the game, and Kyoya had volunteered to show her the ropes. He was surprised by how quickly his girlfriend picked up the game.
"Let's resume, Teddy."
Kyoya simply smiled and gave her a nod. Their countenances were like night and day. Momo was completely focused on the game at hand. She would not be distracted and was determined to win.
Kyoya, on the other hand, was completely relaxed. He was just happy spending time with his girlfriend and his juniors. Win or lose, he was just happy his beautiful Kitty was giving it her all. That look of determination begetting her unwavering conviction was alluring. He would have to remember to praise her.
'I should make bets with her more often. This is fun.'
What started as a learning experience between lovers became a war halfway through. Kyoya was the one to spice things up, making a proposition Momo did not refuse.
With Kyoya's godly hands, he offered his girlfriend a full body massage if she claimed victory. That alone had Momo more motivated to win. The thought of being pampered by her boyfriend was too sweet to pass up. Having his legendary touch remove the stress and sores from her body made her shudder with anticipation.
Momo refused to lose. Should her quiet tease of a boyfriend won instead, an outfit of Kyoya's choosing waited for her. As much as Momo trusted Kyoya, she would not give him such power.
The stakes were high, but so was the payoff.
Kyoya knew how much people sought his touch. He used its prestige to tantalize his girlfriend and see her competitive spirit shine bright. He can see the intense inferno sweltering in her eyes.
Before the couple resumed, Kyoya wrote something on his whiteboard and showed it to Momo. Her cheeks went through several shades of red, but her determination never wavered in the face of their love.
"I love you too, Teddy. Now, let's begin."
The couple readied themselves. Momo put the puck in her corner and started planning her attack.
'I must be quick and decisive. If I give him any openings, it's over.'
Momo made her move. She feigned hitting the puck to the left and drew her arm back, shooting the puck to the right instead.
Kyoya blocked the puck with his paddle, which bounced it back to Momo's side. The Vice President made a second shot, but her opponent blocked it again. Block, return, stop, and shoot, the couple went back and forth. The never-ending clacking of the puck ricocheting off the walls was hardly audible over the cheer of the crowd they gathered. Half cheered for Momo and the other half rooted for Kyoya.
'I won't be beaten!' Momo's concentration increased. She blocked her boyfriend's powerful shot, cursing his superior strength that rattled her arms, and returned it.
'Faster!' Momo increased her speed. Suddenly, she was returning and striking faster. Her desire to win pushed Momo harder. She could see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"I will go beyond! PLUS," Momo geared up for a charged shot, pouring every ounce of strength into her ultimate attack. "ULTRA!"
Her battle cry resonated with the crowd's spirits, exciting them even further. Momo's paddle smashed into the puck with tremendous power and sent it dashing to Kyoya's side.
'Not bad, Kitty.' Kyoya tried to return it. Alas, he missed the disk and watched it sink into his goal. The buzzer went off, and the score changed to 7-6, with Momo coming out on top. The game was over.
"YES!" the Vice President of 1-A threw her fists in the air. The crowd went wild, clapping and cheering for both competitors. Kyoya, being a good sport, clapped for his adversary and opened his arms to catch her embrace.
"That was so much fun," she beamed.
"You did great for someone playing for the first time."
Another one bit the dust as Mina outperformed her recent challenger. The only classmate she didn't face was Momo, but Mina wasn't going to incur the Vice President's wrath any time soon. She didn't want to die.
"Ashido-san, don't you think it's time to take a break?" Uraraka suggested.
"You're going to collapse, kero," Asui pointed out.
"I want one more challenge!" the queen demanded. "There must be someone, anyone, who can give me the challenge I need. Please, if you're out there, face me!"
No one volunteered.
"Guess that's it then," Mina sighed.
"I'll have a go!" a disembodied voice rang out.
The search began but was immediately halted by a figure flipping onto the stage with excellent poise.
"I'll take on the challenge," the person bowed. They were a young man, who couldn't be any older than Kyoya, with green eyes and medium-length sky-blue hair with brown highlights at the bottom. He wore a white tee under a light gray jacket and brown pants.
"Pleasure to meet you, your highness. I'm Shi."
"Shi-kun, eh? Think you have what it takes to beat me?" Mina swayed her hips seductively.
The challenger smiled back, not smitten by Mina's flare hips, and hopped on his feet.
"Let's find out. I'll warn you though, I'm no pushover."
The crowd roared with approval as Shi made his stand. Some wondered who he was and were curious to see his skills. Mina had the masses under her heel. Could this challenger be the one to steal her crown? They waited with bated breath.
"Ooh, is that right? Well then, since I'm feeling generous, I'll let you pick the song."
"Thank you, your highness," Shi browsed the list, "Are you a gambling girl?" he suddenly asked.
"Hmm, I have my moments. Why? Want to make this more interesting?"
Shi stopped on the selected song but went no further. Instead, he faced the acid spewer with a mysterious glint in his eyes. At the back of the arcade, he saw a familiar face looking at him.
"I have a certain combination of skills I would like to employ against you," Shi said. "I think it's only fair that the queen sees my absolute best. What do you say, your highness? Want to turn things up a notch?"
"How can I say no to a sweetie like you, but what do I get if I win? I hope you thought that out at least."
Shi removed his jacket and hung it over the bar. He was quite lean. It was obvious he took good care of himself.
"It's only natural that the queen gets whatever she wants," he stretched.
"I like you," Mina giggled. She licked her lips, her eyes shifting between Shi and the screen. Could she really pass up this opportunity?
"You got yourself a deal," she shook Shi's hand. "Don't feel too bad when you lose."
Shi popped his neck and loosened his body.
"Don't fall for me, your highness. I'm known to be quite… hypnotic."
"Don't fall for me either, cutie."
On the console, Shi selected the song and took his spot.
The music started up, and everyone grew silent. Mina's class backed her up while the crowd wanted to see if the mysterious challenger could dethrone her. Even the workers paused to see the spectacle unfold.
In the back, Kyoya, with Momo in his lap, smiled as he watched.
'This is going to be good.'
The dancers began moving. Already, Shi impressed the masses with the way he moved. The score was neck and neck. Mina moved like the wind, carefree and full of spirit, while her opponent was precise and disciplined. It was hard to say who would win.
We No Speak Americano/Conga by The Chipettes
Pa pa l' americano
Pa pa l' americano
Shi's soul was on fire. Feeling the music guide his spirit, he twirled four times in rapid succession before stomping on two panels for a perfect action.
The crowd went wild, not expecting the challenger to be so good.
"Shake it, Shi-kun!"
"Show us what you're working with!"
Pa pa l' americano
Pa pa l' americano
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Comme te po' capi' chi te vo' bene
Si si si si tu le parle 'mmiezzo americano?
(Come on, shake your body baby do the conga)
Quando se fa l'ammore sotto 'a luna
Come te vene 'capa e di, "I love you!?"
(Come on, shake your body baby do the conga)
Shi spun around four times again and seized the mic on the right side of his platform, landing square on his feet without losing momentum.
Pa pa l' americano
"Everybody!" he began singing, and the melodious ring of his voice had mouths dropping. Even Mina was stunned but maintained her motions.
"Gather round now. Let your body feel the hit. Don't you worry… if you can't dance. Let the music move your feet!"
The crowd obliged him as they began to dance and sway to his hypnotic voice.
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Shi continued to sing as he danced across the stage, his voice and presence commanding the attention of everyone in the room. He was like a tornado of energy, and as he sang, he seemed to bring the party to life.
Pa pa pa pa pa l' americano
Pa pa pa pa pa l' americano
"It's the rhythm… of the island. And like sugarcane, so sweeeeet. If you want to… do the conga, gotta listen to the beat!"
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Comme te po' capi' chi te vo' bene
Si tu le parle 'mmiezzo americano?
Quando se fa l'ammore sotto 'a luna
Come te vene 'capa e di, "I love you!?"
Shi tapped his foot to the rhythm and turned to the crowd.
"I love you," and turned back. From there, Shi sang his heart out. The music tempo increased, and Shi's feet moved double time. He jumped off the platform and into the air, flipping once before he landed on his feet and continued singing and dancing.
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
Come on, shake your body baby,
Do the conga
I know you can't control yourself any longer
"Go go!" Shinji finished with his fist in the air.
The last few seconds counted down, and everyone held their breath. The music ended, and the scores were being totaled.
Shi didn't bother looking. He was not interested in the score, just the adrenaline pumping through his veins after a fierce battle dance.
The crowd exploded in applause and cheers. Mina was stunned, her class, excepting a laughing Bakugo, was stunned, and Shi was clapping. The applause was split evenly between the two dancers. It was obvious that Shi had won over the hearts of the people with his performance.
Shi raised Mina's hand for the crowd. "That was a beautiful dance, your highness," he stated.
"But," Mina couldn't believe her eyes, "you won."
"Did I?" Shi released the pinkette's hand and grabbed his jacket, throwing it over his shoulder. "I mean, I did bust out singing and distracted you with my voice. Something like that is grounds for disqualification. This is my loss."
"No way," Mina shook her head. "You won that."
"Hmm, let's say we tied then. Is that fine with you?" he offered a handshake, which Mina gladly reciprocated.
"Yeah, that's fine with me, but seriously, that was incredible. You have an amazing singing voice. Not to mention those moves!"
Shi felt his cheeks heat up. "You're too kind, your highness."
The crowd was still going wild as the two left the stage. Mina's friends congratulated her while Shi's new fans crowded around him.
"That was amazing!"
"You were unbelievable!"
"Can we get your autograph?" Shi was taken aback by their sudden attention. He didn't know how to react and just smiled awkwardly.
Meanwhile, Mina was still thinking about the dance. She couldn't stop thinking about Shi and how he had won.
He had won, but he had let her win.
"Who are you?" Mina asked the mysterious male. "You can't have just shown up."
Shi paused. It wouldn't do to lie, but he didn't want to stir up chaos before his appointment.
"I'm just an ordinary guy who likes to sing and dance," he said eventually.
"Yeah, just an ordinary guy," Mina replied, not convinced. "Come on, spill the tea. You're way too skilled to be some basic stud."
"Tea?" Shi chuckled. "I think you've had enough of that for one day, but if you want to know," Shi grabbed the mic, "call me senpai, Kaoru-senpai. I am in the same year as Kyoya. Thanks for the call, Kyoya-nii."
"What?!" all eyes turned to the clapping psychic. He waved at his friend and put up the whiteboard.
"Be careful going back."
"Wait, Kaoru?" Jirou pointed out. Her eyes, as did others, began to enlarge. "I knew that voice was familiar! You're Kaoru Shinji!"
The lead vocalist of Siren's Vanity dragged his fingers through his blue hair, except the blue fell off and revealed the rest of his brown locks. It was a wig.
"Jirou Kyoka, right?" Shi was suddenly on the platform. No one saw him move. "Kyoya and my brothers told me a little about you, said you also have a fondness for music. My brothers and I have something planned in the future. I won't say what, but maybe we'll meet on stage one day," Shi donned his wig. "Well, I'd like to stay and chat, but I have a date to stutter my way through. Until next time," he reached in his pocket and took out a small black sphere, which he quickly threw on the ground before the fans could attack.
Smoke suddenly blanketed the area, throwing the crowd into a small panic. Once it dissipated, Shinji was nowhere to be seen. He disappeared without a trace.
"I take back every rude thing I said about you." Jirou rounded on Kyoya, who grinned from ear to ear.
"You're welcome," the whiteboard stated.
"When did you have time to contact him?" Momo inquired.
"On the way here. I couldn't get the others to join, but Shinji had time to spare. He and Tsubaki have a date tonight."
"We need to plan a double date by the way."
"Next week?"
"Sure."
"You mean I was dancing with an idol?" Mina hopped off the platform. "Jirou, educate me. I want to hear more."
"You got it," she agreed. "You guys should check out his brother's vlogs too. It's really popular."
It was a very fun filled day for the students of Class 1-A. They made it a note to have more days like this, and of course, they would invite their senior along too.
