A/N: Hello, hello. Next chapter is longer, promise. I know these have been shorter but I am looking at them as filler episodes until I can get to the one I have wanted to write for a while; Riku and Iku sexy fun times, which I am going to work on today. Yay.
For now, enjoy watching Jaken get beat by Sesshomaru...always a good time.
Jaken knew he played an important role in what Sesshomaru had recently built. He was the one that his lord and lady went to for important correspondence.
He was the one that Lord Sesshomaru kept apprised of matters pertaining to the soldiers and what was expected of them.
The problem was the others who had come on as late didn't seem to understand who he was and how much higher his position was compared to any of them.
While he was proud of his lord for securing a permanent estate, fledgling as it may have been, he felt unappreciated for all of his efforts in the past that had helped Sesshomaru get to that point.
Wasn't it Sesshomaru who only a year prior had given him the highest compliment by naming him his right hand and yet it was Kohaku who had been brought into the main house.
Worse he was allowed to rut and mate with the Lady Izumi, which was beyond the pale for Jaken. It had caused problems and a shift of power in the east to the young lady.
To make matters worse it seemed she had adopted what was once Sesshomarus nonchalance and shirking of responsibility to her own lands.
Deciding to confront his lord about it all he waited for him while he was on patrol. Pacing by the stable and muttering to himself he dug his staff into the ground grumbling.
"Master Jaken?" Emi approached him slowly. She had learned upon first arriving now irritable the imp could be. "Are you well?"
"I am waiting for Lord Sesshomaru. Now shoo! Tend to the Lady Izumi and Rin." He barked. Bristling visibly Emi frowned. Turning her nose at him she walked away irritating him more. That was exactly what he had been mulling over.
Practically jumping for joy as he saw Sesshomaru come from the border of the forest he ran to him.
"Lord Sesshomaru!" He called in his way. "Mi' lord, there are matters we need to discuss."
"Are you making demands of me Jaken?" Sesshomaru said immediately.
"No, no, no mi'lord. Never. It is just that…with the recent influx of others joining the household I feel as if they do not understand my role among them and continue to disrespect me."
Almost amused Sesshomaru raised a brow at him.
"Jaken, if you can not assert your dominance among the others that is none of my concern." Sesshomaru watched him for a moment before continuing. "Surely you know your place within this pack and what is required of you."
"Yes, mi'lord. Certainly, I do. And might I add that I am quite content with my duties and responsibilities to both my lord and lady." Jaken replied quickly. "However I do not feel as if I am involved in important decisions regarding this pack."
"Explain."
Well, well…mi'lord," Clearing his throat he straightened himself out, "Kohaku sits at the table along with Rin deciding the fate of all of us. What decisions they make could affect us all long after they both are dead and gone."
Jaken didn't know what hit him as Sesshomaru pummeled him on the top of the head quickly.
"Neither Izumi nor this one needs a reminder of our mates mortalities. Whatever decisions Rin and Kohaku make are sound and within the best interest of all here." Sesshomaru ground out.
"Ye-yes, mi'lord." Jaken managed as he clutched his throbbing head.
"If you disagree with this you are free to leave."
"No, no, Lord Sesshomaru." Jaken bowed to him placing his forehead to the ground. "I only want to serve you sire."
"Then learn your place, Jaken, and know that this Sesshomaru would not have been so easy on any other for saying such things." Wincing at his words Jaken glanced up watching him continue on his way to the main house.
