This prompt was requested by Boris Yeltsin and although it's a little shorter than some of my prompts, I hope it is what you were after. Thank you for requesting.

"Oh come on, please just show me" Emily pleaded from where she sat in the passenger seat of the car.
"I can't" Lucas protested, hands firmly gripping the steering wheel. "Your dad would kill me and not to mention the lecture I would get from my mum." Emily sighed, throwing her head back against the headrest, her lips pouting and her eyes furrowed as she scowled at him. She'd been this way with him all her life, the stroppy, demanding little sister he never had.
Lucas didn't have any siblings although that didn't matter to him, he had been brought up surrounded by his parents friends and their children that to him it just felt like one big family anyway. Emily and Arthur Cooper were as close to family as one could get and Sheldon and Amy were like his second parents.
"Please" Emily begged. "They don't need to know"
"I could maybe show you the engine" he suggested, she wasn't going to win on this one. He simply wasn't going to do it.
"Is that really going to help?" she asked, seeming rather unimpressed. Lucas knew she was only being like this because she wanted to impress her father.
Finally after months of persuading, Sheldon had agreed to take Emily out for a little bit of driving practise before he gave the okay to start lessons. Still, after all this time, her father was a fairly nervous driver and she knew that that fear would only intensify once she got behind the wheel. She thought that if maybe she could convince Lucas to give her a few extra lessons then that would help settle both of their nerves however, he was refusing to budge.
"Well, if you want a car, you're going to have to learn how to take care of it" he explained. Emily simply rolled her eyes, he sounded so much like her father and he smirked to himself because a part of him knew it too.
"Fine" she sighed giving in when she realised she wasn't getting anywhere. He knew she was stressing out, she always did this, alway put far too much pressure on herself to excel at things just like her parents did. All she really wanted to do was make Sheldon proud but little did she know that in every way imaginable he was already so proud of her. "Teach me all that you know" she smiled a little, softening slightly, after all, Lucas was only trying to help.
Twenty minutes later, and Emily felt like she was well educated on the mechanics of a car and although she would never admit it, there was a part of her excited to show her father what she had learnt.
—
People had told Sheldon about this moment. Other fathers had spoken to him about this milestone, no matter how old his children became, he was still experiencing many first and teaching his daughter how to drive was one of them. Really, when he thought about it, this was a big deal for them both.
He glanced across to Emily, his heart leapt in his chest at just the thought of seeing her sitting in the drivers seat. It looked so unfamiliar, she looked so grown up. He couldn't imagine how he would feel when she was finally out driving in the big wide world.
"Okay, is this okay?" Emily asked as she got herself comfortable in the seat, her hands gripping the steering wheel. Despite wanting to feel confident, the nerves were bubbling in the pit of her stomach, all she wanted to do was impress.
"Yes" Sheldon nodded. "You need to adjust your mirrors, make sure you can see properly" he instructed. He watched as Emily fumbled with the buttons, the mirror situation already confusing her. Sheldon could see this and had to fight the urge to intervene, he had spent her whole life trying not intervene, if it wasn't for Amy allowing her to learn and at times fail, he would have done everything for her and happily.
"Okay, I think I can see" she announced after a while of playing with the buttons.
"You think?" Sheldon's voice rose in pitch and Emily knew that she needed to choose her words more carefully if she wanted to avoid giving her father a heart attack.
"I can see. I can. It's totally fine" Emily shrugged off his comment.
"Okay" Sheldon let out a breath. "When you're ready turn the key and start the engine" Emily did so, surprisingly she felt a surge of energy when the engine roared to life. It was a good, nervous kind of energy. "But don't do anything until I say" Sheldon warned watching her ease into the role of driver, worried that she would take off without his command.
"I won't" she laughed, stopping her feet from pressing the pedals. Sheldon carefully talked her through what to do next, explaining where she needed to position her feet and when she could finally start moving the car.
"That's it" even if he tried to deny it, Emily could hear the beat of excitement in his tone. "That's it. Take it nice and slow" Emily couldn't quite believe she was actually driving a car, albeit on the quietest road you would ever find but she was still very much driving.
"Oh my god, my hearts beating so fast" she laughed, she was probably travelling at a snails pace but she didn't care. "Is this alright dad? Am I doing okay?" she turned her attention to him.
"Keep your eyes on the road Emily" he quickly warned her, his heart leaping and his palms growing sweaty at the thought of having some kind of accident.
"Sorry" she laughed.
"You're doing great" he smiled and Emily took her eyes off the road for a beat of time to witness it. The smile was genuine and filled with pride and that alone made her feel so proud of herself.
He was having a little moment. His daughter, his baby girl who he could have sworn was just a little toddler a few days ago was now in a position to drive, she was growing up before his eyes and he hadn't even realised it until now. She was finally beginning to find her feet without him and there was a part of him that was finally having to let go.
"Dad?" he was pulled from his trance when Emily said his name, he had surprisingly got lost in this own thoughts. He was grateful the road was quiet and long as he hadn't even started to talk her through how to stop the vehicle. "Do you think I could go a little faster?" she knew she was pushing it.
"Absolutely not"
Thank you so much for reading! As always reviews are always welcome and so appreciated. I'd love to know your thoughts.
I have a few prompts to write so for now I'm going to have to close requests whilst I make my way through them.
Stay safe.
Lots of love.
