Book One: Chapter Eight

[Mind x Body]

"Anyone got a plan?" Chongyun asks as they race forward.

"Stab it until it stops moving!" Rosaria answers.

"We need to first find its weak points!" Ayaka corrects. "Attacking it without a plan is suicide!"

"This guy with the dual voice did that to Eula and the general and it worked." Kaeya notes glancing to Relon.

"None of us are Relon though!" Ganyu speaks up gaining their attention. "It's entered its second stage so we first must use caution. Any creature capable of doing such gains new abilities alongside its former."

"That's a good plan because here it comes!" A blood curdling cry resounding from the creature as it jumps into the air soaring for the group.

"GRRRAAHH!" Relon responds with a roar of his own, a single step atop the ground becomes slow to Ganyu as static zips up his ankle before an explosion of snow stops the group as Ganyu widens seeing Relon in mid-air nearing the creature.

Polearm crackling in purple electricity, he twirls it jamming the serpent's nose for it to cry out crashing to the ground as he jumps into the air avoiding the attempted grab. Refocusing on its attacker, it opens its maw for frigid particles to form a sphere. Raising his hand as he descends, Reon thrusts his arm for purple lightning to rain from one of the few remaining thunderstorms. Unleashing a beam of ice, both attacks meet the other unleashing a disarray of lights.

"Now's our chance!" Ayaka exclaims, snowflakes forming around her as she vanishes for a cluster of snow and ice to blitz ahead of the group towards the creature.

Seeming to pop out of the ground, she unsheathes her sword cutting at the hind legs as several arrows pierce its eye causing the creature to arch its head back. Its attack in turn aiming away as the lighting continues its descent.

"AYAKA!"

Hearing her cry, Relon's eyes trace past the lightning to the creature's rear. Seeing time move slowly once more, a small electro sigil forms for Relon to land on it as he crouches down. The sigil, rotating for his body to lean forward with a mighty leap, a blur of lightning in the form of Relon shoots past the descending attack hitting the creature as he zooms across its back jumping to the ground before the equally shocked and surprised Ayaka. Vanishing the polearm in a fluid motion, he picks her up bridal style taking sight of the approaching to blast off.

She can only blink. One moment she's standing about to dash away and the next, she's in the arms of their once prisoner.

So fast…!

An odd sensation comes to the girl as her sight aids in seeing them near the cryo group.

Looking to Relon's visage, she widens ever so slightly. His face not deranged or full of anger. A look of focus is what she sees instead. But that's not all. There's something else as for the briefest of moments, their eyes meet.

Concern.

"You okay?"

"Are you okay, Ayaka?"

She can only widen at the reminiscent voice. The expression and tones all of equal wavelength.

"Ayaka!" Ganyu's voice snaps the girl from her trance.

Blinking in quick repetition as he lowers her, she can only nod before the light brightens. All look to the creature roaring in pain.

"Did that do it?" Chongyun wonders for the attack to end as the creature slowly rises on all fours looking at them.

"You just had to ask." Rosaria curses.

"It doesn't seem to have taken as much damage as before." Kaeya notes looking to the creature's body not as singed compared to the last time it was hit.

"Could it be gaining a resistance to Electro?" Chongyun wonders.

"If so, we need to end this as quickly as possible." All shift to Ayaka. "Having a resistance to Cryo is bad enough, but if it is indeed gaining one for Electro, then-"

"It is not." Relon's dual voice interrupts as the creature's wings give a mighty flap before unleashing a tornado of snow towards the six.

Raising his free hand, electricity fires across the terrain as it hits the tornado before it can accelerate as snow and ice shoots in all directions. Shards of ice with static arcing from one to another hitting the creature's stomach as it howls in pain.

"It's skin has simply hardened." Relon speaks looking to the five as he stomps for a wall of ice to block the incoming shards of ice and balls of snow before lowering back into the snowy ground.

"Then we simply need to hit it where it hurts." Rosaria says, all taking notice of Trishula recovering to flap its wings as it takes to the sky.

"That last attack did more damage than we first thought." Kaeya says as the creature sways from side to side. "Its vision is gone, meaning it has a blind spot now."

"Then that is where we strike!" Ayaka readies her sword as they watch Relon walk away from them.

"I shall bring down Trishula. From there, we end this."

"Relon!"

Stopping in his steps, he gives a half glance back at Ganyu. The smallest movement of her hand balling into a fist at her sight going noticed by the male.

"You're not Relon, are you?" She asks.

Blinking at her question, Relon turns back forward.

"Yes and no." He answers before jumping with another explosive force into the air landing on an electro sigil as he then jumps from one to another.

That adepti is quite interesting. I can see why my chosen has taken an interest in her. Landing into crouch, he jumps to the next nearing the serpent. It seems he's wishing for control again. Very well. The feminine voice hums with a small pout before Relon's demeanor shifts back to rage.

Jumping faster and faster, electricity courses over his person as he reaches Trishula who swipes at him for the boy to twist his body through the gap in its claws as he reels back a fist full of electricity to punch the creature knocking it away.

"Did he just-"

"Yes, Chongyun, yes he did!" Rosaria says in a mix of equal shock and annoyance.

Watching the battle from the safety of the cliff, Yae focuses on Relon and Trishula.

They may have taken away half its sight, but it's being more defensive compared to before. That tornado was angled to its left. It wanted them or more so Relon and Ei to go to its right where it could see. The creature isn't ignorant of its current state. But that is to be expected of an Archon's "pet."

Glancing at a struggling Sara, Miko can only sigh.

"Sara-"

"Don't try and stop me!" She interrupts, her shaky legs failing as she drops to on all fours panting heavily.

"You're too weakened to move on your own." Miko speaks as the others look between the two.

Clenching her fingers through the snow, Sara begins to get up once more.

"Then help me…" A smirk now forming on Miko's face as she looks back to Sara.

"Very well, but I require two things in return." She holds up two fingers in emphasis. "One: win. And two; come back alive. All three of you. Are these conditions agreeable?" She asks, her eyes glowing as static courses around her hand.

Backflipping a tail swipe, Relon pushes off of a sigil down before hitting another to thrust the polearm at its stomach for Trishula to role over hitting the boy with its wing sending him higher towards the clouds like a ragdoll.

Spinning lifelessly, his grip on the polearm remains firm as something grabs his other hand. Snapping at the physical touch, his eyes widen as feathers encompass his vision. Before him encompassed in electricity surging throughout her body; Sara Kujou.

"Just as Yae is mine, Sara shall be yours."

"Sa…ra…?"

A joyful smile and nod comes in response before her fierce determination returns as she both come to eye level. Widening at her shimmering eyes, a sensation bubbles from within.

Lady Yae, these conditions are more than fine. Sara thinks intertwining her fingers with his own.

"Lend me your strength, Relon."

"Lend me your strength, Sara."

That was… my voice…

Thinking straight for the briefest moment, he can only give a nod much like Ayaka. The wild flow of electricity now surging between the two.

Resonance only works one at a time so before it runs out, we must finish this!

"It's gems! That's it's weakness!" The tired voice of Fischl resurfaces, having used her eye to find said weakness.

"Let's go!" Both look to the approaching serpent.

Raising their hands to the air, purple electricity begins to blanket the clouds above them as holes of the sun's rays open. Diving to meet the cryo beast, a field of electricity encompasses the two. Unleashing another beam of ice, both push through for Relon to release his grasp with the girl spiraling inches away from the frigid beam to appear at the back of the creature's neck as with a mighty swing, he slams the polearm into its gem shattering it for Trishula to howl in pain once again misguiding its attack.

Continuing his assault, Relon blurs to the side before jumping off grabbing its wing tip as with all his might, he rotates the flying creature to face its belly at Sara. Letting go, he's sent into the air before landing on an electro sigil as he bursts off returning to Sara's side readying a punch.

"Tengu Juurai: Titanbreaker!" Sara roars, crashing her palm and Relon's fist at the gem shattering it into pieces, bolts of lighting spreading into its head, its arms and wings, and finally its tail.

Crashing into the ground like a bullet, a cloud of snow and smoke rips across the land.

"Please tell me that took the damned beast down!" Rosaria growls as from the smoke shoots Sara and Relon landing before them.

Rays of light begin to expand wiping away the snow storm for a burst of white light to shoot from the smoke revealing the downed creature as it is lifted into the air onto its hind legs, its forearms becoming opposable as its tattered wings fall lifelessly to the ground. Its eye socket restoring itself as spikes protrudes along its body and tail.

"Don't tell me!"

"A third phase?!" Ganyu gasps.

"You have got to be shitting me." Rosaria swears.

"Look!" Ayaka points. "Its gems have been restored! As have its rear leg and eye!"

"But you destroyed them!" Chongyun gasps looking to the winged-woman.

"Could it be that we need to destroy them simultaneously?"

"Possibly. Regardless, if we don't find an answer soon…" Sara grimances to feel a hand place itself on her shoulder.

Looking to see it belong to Relon, the silent look of confidence is all it takes to ease Sara.

"No, we simply have to find an answer!" She corrects, Trushula tucking its hands before extending them as the snow storm drowns out the sunlight once more.

"Attacking it the way it is now will be nearly impossible if we want to get to the gems." Rosaria comments.

"Then we'll shatter them from a distance." Ganyu speaks, gaining their attention.

"Two well placed arrows should easily do it."

"Then we'll divert its attention so you two can take the shot." Ayaka speaks.

Hearing the ground rumble, all look to the serpent slowly walk to them.

"Is everyone ready?"

"We were all ready when we were fighting it at stage two. Nothing's changed!" Rosaria retorts.

"Then go!" Sara shouts taking to the sky with Rosaria, Kaeya and Chongyun jumping for Relon to punch their feet as they kick off conjuring ice as they skate to both sides of the monster.

"Relon!" Ayaka calls out, the boy tucking his hands together launching her next.

Soaring just over the ground, she materializes into snow zooming between the monster's feet just as Trishula slams its hands where she once was. Returning to her form with her sword at the ready, she and the others gasp at the frozen stalagmites race to Relon and Ganyu.

Turning to see the Cryo Army behind him, he growls slamming his hands down as multiple walls of ice erupt. Crashing against the first wall, the ground trembles as Ganyu nearly falls to her feet to see the back of Relon, an idea coming to mind. Breaking through the first wall, he growls in frustration as the second soon breaks. Reaching for him, the ground erupts as Relon dashes in from of Ganyu as both are sent into the air. Materializing his polearm, Relon quickly gyrates it, propelling the shards of ice.

Looking behind as they soar over the army, Ganyu's own widen as she dismisses her bow. Waving her hands in a fluid motion, a slide made of ice catches the two as it curves it around the structure Eula still lays on.

Glancing to the unconscious woman, Ganyu returns forward raising her hands up as so too does the ice ramp sending them through the air. Latching onto Relon as a sigil is made for footing, he jumps back towards the fray.

Launching Rosaria off, the nun dives like a torpedo to the distracted Trishula. Sensing the incoming woman, it raises firing a sudden frost beam for said woman to smirk, flipping forward to run along it.

Don't forget that we're cryo as well! We can manipulate your attacks to our advantage as well!

Landing on its head, she wastes no time piercing its skull for the creature to roar trying its best to shake the nun off.

"Watch out!" Kaeya shouts pointing his blade at the incoming flailing tail to catch it in ice for the briefest of moments as the three retreat as it breaks through mowing the area down.

"You're not…losing me… that easily…!" Rosaria growls.

Taking aim, Sara follows the movement of the creature before firing. The arrow moving to the creature for its spikes to extend blocking the gem.

"Tch."

So we need to cleave those bones if we wish for our opportunity to come! But how?!

BOOOM!

Out of nowhere, a blur of electricity and ice crashes into the creature's abdomen sending it falling back.

"WHOA!" Chongyun exclaims hunkering down, all take sight of Relon landing on an electro sigil. "He wasn't that powerful when fighting the general!"

"Celestial Shower!" All shift to the air seeing Ganyu unleash her attack, a coalescence of atmospheric frost and snow summoning a Sacred Cryo Pearl as it rains down shards of ice.

Skidding off, Rosaria quickly moves regrouping with the others as they watch the creature's crystal spikes fight off the attack.

Bursting to Ganyu, he catches her bouncing away to land with the others.

"Look at its feet! The spikes surrounding it aren't there now!"

"That's it! It's focusing all of its power on defending its gem which means…!"

"Now's our chance!" Rosaria shouts, bursting into action. "I'll hinder its movements again!"

Zooming under the small gap at its knees, she slides to a halt before her target.

"This is your judgment!" She growls. "Ravaging Confession!" Blitzing past its hind legs as a series of slashes and puncture wounds appear at its heel, a bloodcurdling scream comes from Trishula as its tail lashes out.

Crouching down, she jumps off of a stalagmite out of the way as Sara soars in catching her

"Nice work!"

"Don't thank me yet, we're not done!"

"I wasn't!" Sara snaps back flying through the ice attack to let go as Rosaria dives at the creature.

"Relon, right? Send me too!" Chongyun pleads for the teen to nod, launching him into the air before he can even blink before hitting him downwards catching up to Rosaria.

"Make it count, exorcist!"

"Right!"

Performing a series of hand seals and a prayer respectively, Rosaris swings her weapon, slashing the air summoning a frigid ice lance as Chongyun summons three giant blade around said lance.

"Don't aim for the gem!"

"I know! Spirit blade, attack! Cloud-Parting Star!"

"Good! Lights out…" Rosaria murmurs to open her eyes wide. "Rites of Termination!"

Plunging into the creature, it can only reel its head back as blue blood splash from its new wounds.

"Purge!" Chongyun shouts, a light forming around the three blades as they explode followed by one final eruption of ice as the shockwave travels across the serpent's body destroying its spikes.

"The spikes are gone!" Chongyun exclaims with a smile for Rosaria to narrow before widening as both take sight of the tail come shooting at them as a force pushes them out of the way.

Looking out the corner of her eyes, Rosaria widens further seeing the tail with a mass of spikes lodge itself in Relon's abdomen. His facial expression hidden by his hair as he's sent like a bullet skidding across the ground like a pebble before crashing into the cliff with a mighty thud.

Motionless in the air, not paying mind to Ganyu's attack finally ceasing, Sara's demeanor turns to fury as she dives down catching the airborne cryo users dropping them off before turning on a dime into the air.

"How… DARE YOU!" She roars taking sight of the flailing tail. Rotating to the left, rising, and then turning to see it only to vanish in a bolt of lightning leaving behind an electric trap to explode pushing it off, she reappears reeling back an arrow at the base.

More… more… MORE…! A surge of electricity focusing at the tip. FIRE! A sound breaking jolt is unleashed as it pierces the unarmored flesh.

Flailing in the air, the tail falls to the snowy ground with only seconds of complaint before it lies still. Panting, she looks at the humanoid serpent slowly rolling over.

Damn it, my resonance is going to run out. Calm down, Relon has the Raiden Shogun's power. That won't kill him. I need to use what I have left wise-

Barely dodging out of the way on instinct of a sharp bone, she widens looking down at Trishula raising up.

"GRRRRRROAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

Covering their ears as the ear-piercing shriek deafens all else, the group can barely keep their eyes open as the ice blades and lance dissipate for more spikes to surge out its back.

"That attack combination didn't work so now what?!"

"We keep trying!" Sara soars over them firing an arrow for Trishula to swat it away. "It's on its last legs, keep fighting!"

"Tell us something we don't know!" Rosaria snaps, she and the others spreading out.

"Keep fighting until an opening is made!" Kaeya shouts backflipping away from a slam of his fist.

"Then let's make one!" Chongyun responds, jumping at the fist to form a light gasp before jumping away as Trishula attempts to bat him away.

Aiming two arrows respectively, the bowwomen fire for Trishula to buck its head for the arrows to pass one another towards the other women. Widening, both dodge out of the way, Ganyu running around the reer for her eyes to catch Trishula's on her. Looking on the other side running parallel of her; Ayaka. Taking sight of both, Trishula slams both hands onto the snow arching its back up.

"WATCH OUT!"

Unleashing a screech, a large number of its spikes firing like torpedoes into the sky before rebounding downwards.

Widening, the cryo users take off at a sprint launching off of stalagmites. Barely getting away, they land in front of their army bracing themselves as a blanket of snow fog hits them. As it settles, they grimace at the bone-like forest around the serpent.

"It separated itself from us!"

"That's not all!" The group looking to Sara over them. "It's tail is regrowing!" She grimaces at the very sight, said tendon slowly regenerating.

"What do we do now…?"

"We resort to Plan B." Rosaria mutters, clicking her teeth. "I didn't want to resort to this."

"None of us did, Rosaria." Ayaka agrees, all turning to their awaiting army.

"Give us the command, lieutenants, we await your order!" A soldier speaks up.

"YEEEAAAAAHHH!"

"Everyone…" Ganyu Ayaka mutters in a mixture of pride, respect, and disbelief.

"Lieutenant, each of you were there for us throughout many battles." Another soldier speaks.

"Both on and off the field, each of you aided us in numerous ways!"

"That's why we don't regret making the decision that we did! The general never showed any of the kindness you five have!"

"YEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!"

"Everyone… thank you!" Ayaka bows as do the others before they turn to the creature.

Landing, Sara takes point.

"We need to hit it with a continuous barrage of attacks." She notes.

"That shower of bones may be something we can take advantage of." Ganyu muses looking at her fellow archer.

"Let's go!" Rosaria shouts. "We've got a monster to slay!" At her call, the army roars. "And I swear on all that is holy, if this thing has a fourth stage…!"

"Let's just make sure we take it down before then." Chongyun sweatdrops.

Flapping into the sky, Sara flies over the army below towards their target. She and Ganyu sharing the sole thought.

Relon, hurry back!

Lodged in the side of the cliff, small specs of dirt crumble off as Relon remains motionless. Neither electricity nor frost secreting from him anymore.

"Relon, Ei, you need to wake up!" Miko calls from above to no avail.

Blinking into a blurry vision, nothing can be made out.

Who's…calling me…?

"Relon, wake up!" Keqing calls.

"Relon, you must awaken!" Fischl next.

These voices… They sound familiar…

"Come on, Relon, you're done yet are you!"

Why do I… feel nostalgia… to the… 3rd degree…?

"Relon!"

"Relon, get up!"

So many voices… Quiet down, will ya…? I'm… tired…

Slowly succumbing to his fatigue, all goes black.

"Are you done already?"

Opening them, his eyes are met with the area now surrounded in sand with red gates littered all around as far as the eye can see, the sun shedding a light on the entire area.

I don't feel tired anymore… Where… am I?

"The Plane of Euthymia."

Turning on a dime, Relon widens at the woman before him. As if in a meditative stance, one leg draped under the other, he isn't taken aback solely from the odd location he's been taken to nor even the woman herself, but rather the simple yet mind boggling fact that she's floating a few feet off the ground. And then the next abnormality hits; she answered his thoughts.

Gulping at the complex situation, questions piling one after another faster than he can even comprehend, she speaks.

"You're taken aback." Three words in that voice he's heard somewhere before.

Wincing grasping his head, his eyes furrow as she discards her posture landing silently to the ground. Whatever that even is.

"You last heard my voice when you awoken from that adepti's lap." She speaks. "Though it is quite amusing feeling you now attempt to discern whose lap felt better." She raises a hand hiding her slight chuckle.

"How…?" He takes a step back.

"We share the same mind, that is how. What you feel, I feel. The very embodiment of our souls have intertwined into a single being. And that is whom we are now."

"We…?"

"Yes. We are the Raiden Shogun."

"... Huh?"
