Despite being tired of taking on extra guard duties in Nen and Jiros absence Jin decided to make his way down to the trading post during the day to visit his mate.
He missed him tremendously and felt his insecurities creeping back in as the days had gone on and he hadn't seen Nen.
Coming upon the small settlement he stood between the inn and the pleasure house that were built across from one another.
Looking around at the stalls that others had set up to sell their wares he made his way to the inn that served also as a tavern and restaurant that Rina ran.
Going inside he met with her. Offering a welcoming smile Rina sat with him at one of the tables.
"Can I get you anything Jin?" She asked wondering if he were there to relieve Nen.
"I am looking for Nen. I miss him, we haven't been apart for the better part of this last year and I have to see him." Jin replied not knowing if she knew they were together.
"Last I saw him he was with Nagi last night making sure there aren't any threats. I have to say, he takes his responsibility very seriously even though we have all told him to relax." She said.
"That sounds about right." Jin smirked to himself proud of his mate.
"He has been resting upstairs when he does take a break. Come on, I will show you to his room." Standing he followed her up the wooden steps to the few rooms that were there.
Going to one on the end she left him to it as he entered without knocking. Closing the door behind him he saw it empty.
Sighing he went to the window glancing out of it. Deciding to wait for Nen he sat on the unkempt futon placing his weapons down looking them over for a moment.
The two circular blades made of demon bone that Kohaku had gave him some years before were unlike anything he had ever seen. Gripping the handle of one it amazed him that he was able to be adept at wielding them.
He had only ever heard of demon slayers before and had never in his wildest imagination thought he would be welcomed into a group.
When Kohaku had found him it had been almost two years of him being on his own and traveling. In his mind he felt as if everyone knew who he was and what he was about causing him to want to avoid others all together.
He had set up camp in the middle of the woods and was quite surprised when a young man approached him asking if he had seen or heard anything about a demon in the area.
That led to the two of them talking and Kohaku had invited him to join him. Jin had been hesitant but felt at ease with the other. Through the time they traveled together he had met Sango and Rin in the village.
One day he saw Sesshomaru as Kohaku met up with him. Jin was confused until Kohaku explained to him briefly the nature of their relationship.
He had found it odd that a human man who had spent his life as a demon slayer held a demon one in such high regard, was even the demons ward, but who was he to judge anyone else?
Hearing the door open he immediately brought his attention to it and stood up.
"Nen." He smiled widely feeling his stomach flutter and his heart beat faster. Seeing that Jin held his weapon Nen decided to have some fun with him.
"Come here to slay me?" He said straight faced. Looking at him confused for a moment Jin realized his hand was still around the handle. Placing it down he knew he was being teased.
"Not with this but I may have something else in mind." Jin played along. At that Nen let out a soft laugh. Jin loved it when he did as he smiled at him, he only wished his serious husband would do it more often.
"Well demon slayer, you'll have to fight me for that." He replied closing the gap between them. "I am not in the mood to give up my dominance today."
"Hmmm." Jin hummed out. "And here I am with nothing to subdue you with."
"Good." Nen growled out. Gripping Jins hair that he kept braided he tugged on it forcing his head back. Bringing his tongue out he licked up his throat to his jaw before moving back down again.
Jin gripped his forearm and wrapped his arm around his waist pulling him a bit closer to him. Nen let out his soft purring sound using his free hand to grope him through his skin tight slayer clothing.
"I missed you. Did you miss me?" Jin asked needing to hear the endearment. Not hearing any confirmation from him Jin sighed. Pushing Nen off of him he took a stance.
"What's wrong?" Nen asked somewhat confused.
"Tell me you missed me." Jin insisted.
"Is it not obvious?" Nen countered. "By my actions."
"I just, I need to hear it." He insisted.
"Of course I have missed you Jin." He replied seeing hurt in his mates eyes. It was not time to tease him or play games. He had wounded Jin once severely and did not want to again.
Taking a shaky breath Jin gave a half nod. Nen removed his armor putting it on the floor before closer to him again.
Wrapping his arms around his waist he rested his forehead to his. "I have only been gone a few days, what would you do if one of us were called away for some reason and we were apart for longer?"
"That will not happen." Jin buried his face against Nens shoulder holding him tightly.
"I know I don't always tell you but know that I love you more than anything. You have no idea how much." He said softly nuzzling Jins ear. "No matter what may happen or the distance between us that will not change. It would only make me love you more in your absence."
"I think this is the first time you have told me you love me." Jin replied moving to look into his eyes. "Everything that happened before I met you makes me question myself, what I mean to you…"
Nen interrupted him by kissing him full on the lips. Letting out a soft moan Jin wrapped his arms around Nens shoulders. Breaking their kiss Nen pulled Jin flush against him.
"It has been almost a week since I held you in my arms." Nen said. "Lie down with me."
"Yes." Jin nodded his head eagerly. Settling on the futon Nen enveloped him with his arms and legs as they rested against one another.
Facing one another Jin stroked Nens hair from his forehead and traced his fingers down his jaw.
Nen nuzzled his nose against his and soon Jin felt all of his doubts subside.
