Rin walked slightly behind Sesshomaru as they had no particular destination in mind. She took in their surroundings as the summer season was coming to an end giving way to autumn.
"Can you believe that we have been at the compound for two years now my lord? It feels much longer than that, as if we have had our children and known everyone for many more years." Rin commented as they came to a small creek that cut through the ground and trickled by.
"How much land do we have? It seems like we have a good amount."
"I can take you to the main perimeters if you like." Sesshomaru offered coming to a stop. Beside them was an old tree stump that had a smooth top. Rin climbed on it to stand meeting his eyes squarely.
"May we stay here for a bit Lord Sesshomaru? It is very peaceful here." Rin requested. Nodding his head once they both silently searched the other with their gazes flicking to take in different parts of the others face to lock eyes again.
Smiling Rin leaned forward to rest her forehead against his. "Have you been to this place before?" She questioned. Smirking shook his head slightly. "What is so amusing?"
"You and all of your questions." He said. Backing from him slightly she placed her hands together behind her back.
"Well, if you don't ask questions then you will never learn anything. Suppose I had never asked you so many questions, then I do not think we would have the relationship we have now." Rin stated smirking back at him.
"You are not wrong." He replied. Puffing her cheeks out somewhat as she huffed she crossed her arms over her chest.
"You could just say, you are right Rin." She said. "My lord." Adding the respect in after Sesshomaru straightened out his face deciding to have some fun with her.
"Since when have you become so disrespectful Rin? Are you forgetting yourself with me?" He asked.
"Oh, no, never Lord Sesshomaru." Rin said shaking her head playing along. "My lord deserves a great deal of respect especially from me, his pet."
"Don't call yourself that." Sesshomaru retorted shaking his head. Laughing Rin wrapped her arms around his neck.
"You called me that once. After we returned from your mothers palace with Izumi." She replied. "Besides, we could have some fun with the idea."
"How so?" He asked outright curious.
"We can make a game out of it. I told you about the game Kohaku and I played when you went to be with Izumi. We can do something similar." Watching as his face seemed to fall somewhat she squared her gaze once again with his. "What's wrong my lord?"
"When Izumi and I were engaging one another I had…thoughts." He thought out.
"Such as?" Rin pressed.
"In certain ways there was a sense of comfort ability that came with being with a female of my own kind. With Izumi I could release more of my energy without being afraid of harming her." He admitted.
"This has been bothering you, hasn't it?" Rin queried. Receiving no response she gently ran her fingers against his neck in a soothing manner. "I understand. I do. You and I are different. There is nothing wrong with being comfortable in ways with Izumi that you are not with me. Being with Kohaku brings me a similar sense."
"That does not mean that we do not love one another or that our bond is any less than it was. If anything I think it has made us stronger and gives us an ability to explore different aspects of ourselves with Izumi and Kohaku that we may not be able to with one another."
"How is it you have acquired such wisdom over your short lifespan?" Sesshomaru asked seemingly genuinely perplexed. Shrugging Rin placed her forehead back to his.
"I just speak my mind is all. You were the first person to let me do so freely without ridiculing me or scolding me." She said. "Not many people like it when a woman has thoughts other than her father or her husbands you know."
"Your mind has always made me curious. I often wonder what goes through it."
"Well, let me think; many times a day I think of you and now our pups. Our pack. In what ways I can be of use to everyone who has come to us and to you."
"Our pack cares for you deeply, as they should. You have well beyond secured your place in it as one of its leaders and they all look to you for guidance out of respect."
"I am just happy that everyone else is as well." Rin replied softly. "Oh!"
Backing off from him again he watched as the wide smile drew across her lips. "I didn't tell you Lord Sesshomaru; Sana announced to all of the women that she is pupped. She and Jiro will have their first little one by next spring. Isn't that wonderful?"
"It is." He agreed. "Now, about that game you were talking of…"
"You are the powerful, strong, dashing demon lord and I am the little human woman that you come across washing up in the creek by us. Of course I have never been with a man before but betrothed which you seek to unjustly do." Rin planned out.
"Interesting." He said as she removed her hands from him and jumped down from the tree stump.
"You have to come upon me though when I am not expecting you." She stated happily. "So go off somewhere for a bit and startle me."
"You are so odd." He said outright with a small chuckle as Rin shoo'd him away.
