As both Sana and Jiro exited their hut they saw Iku outside of hers bringing something inside. Sana placed a hand to his arm as if in encouragement to approach her.
Glancing at her he gave a curt nod. Taking a deep breath he left her side walking towards Iku.
"Lady Iku." He greeted softly. Turning she took him in for a moment before nodding at him. "There are….I…may I…?
"Come in pup. We will talk in private." She offered walking into her domicile.
Hesitantly Jiro followed behind her. Sitting where she invited him to she knelt across from him. "What do you want to know?"
Staring at nothing Jiro attempted to gather his thoughts but found himself coming up with nothing as he drew a blank.
"Your given name is Jiren. Your brothers is Nit. You mother was Lady Ai from the southern house of the moon, the same one Lady Mizuki and I hailed from."
"Lady Izumi mentioned her mother and ours were sisters." Jiro said quietly.
"Yes. Ai was younger than us. She was more like a little bird than a dog demon in appearance; small and slight but her temperament made up for it." Iku mused slightly to herself. "Your brother reminds me of her in ways."
"And my father?" Jiro asked timidly.
"Lord Yami from the house of the southern star. He was kind and compassionate with a big voice and an even bigger personality." Looking away Iku let out a shaky breath.
"Jiro, I'm sorry for everything. We shouldn't have stayed but when Ai found out how bad things were in the east, how abused Mizuki was, she wouldn't stand for it. She told your father everything we had said in private to her."
"He reclaimed us for the south and sent word to Akio. The other houses no longer recognized their mating and saw it as being dispelled. We were going to leave back to our former house when…"
"When Akio arrived and attacked." Jiro finished as Iku was unable to continue.
Watching her face crumble as she brought her hands to her face to hide her tears Jiro edged closer to her. "I don't blame you or anyone other than Akio and whomever else was with him. Please tell me Riku wasn't with him."
Shaking her head quickly he sighed some relief. Taking her hand he held it for comfort.
"Riku, Tadao, and Haruki came down but by then the damage was done. He was going to take you both back to the east, to raise since he had no sons."
"We couldn't let him do that. Mizuki…she didn't want to let either of you go. She held you and claimed you both as hers but I convinced her to give you both to Haru to hide and to ensure you both survived."
"I remember my mother dead and smelling my fathers blood but I…cannot recall that." Jiro said more to himself than to Iku.
"Mizuki said, they are mine. My poor sisters pups, I have every right to them. I made her hand you both over to my son, to Haru, and she held you both so close saying she hoped you would remember what a mothers touch was like."
Shaking Iku sniffled. "She wanted you both so much but we were so afraid of how twisted you could both become under Akio and what that meant for the future of not only the eastern house but all of the land."
"I understand, I do. It was a hard road to get here but I am glad I am here. I am glad that we have all found one another again in happier times." Jiro soothed.
Taking his face in her hands Iku nodded her head with a sad smile across her face.
"I am so proud of you. You have become such an honorable male." She whispered out overcome with emotion.
"Thank you my lady." He replied smiling at her softly. Making sure that she was alright Jiro left her inhaling the cool air. He felt as if a weight had been lifted from him that had been tied to him for as long as he could remember.
Seeing Nen coming back from the treeline with Nozumi strapped to his front he saw the frustration on his face. "Nen?"
Stopping he saw Jiro standing outside of Ikus hut.
"The captain would appreciate if we didn't accost his mate on this matter." He said simply.
"We were talking about it. Iku told me about our parents and what happened." Jiro breathed out.
"Riku just told me as well." He replied flatly.
"You don't feel any better." Reading his demeanor he knew Nen was still at odds.
"Do you?" He countered.
"Yes."
"Good for you then." Nen retorted in a nasty tone walking towards his hut.
"Do you want to talk about it?" Jiro called out after him.
Seemingly ignored as Nen entered his home he sighed deeply.
"Great." He muttered under his breath as he set out to start his day.
