Sitting at the table Rin listened wide eyed while Izumi remained straight faced. The information that Sesshomaru and Kohaku were providing was upsetting to say the least.

"All of this time I had thought the woman that left Umi was a monster, someone I had never met. Rina seemed so well together and intelligent…I am having a hard time believing it was her." Rin said in disbelief.

"That bitch." Izumi muttered shaking her head.

"The males and Kino will be on alert to keep an eye out for anything." Kohaku said calmly. "Lord Sesshomaru has ordered that she not be allowed in our territory and I agree."

"I need to hear it from her." Rin said softly. "It is not that I don't believe either of you or Jin but I need to hear her say it."

"Similarly, we should call upon her mother and father. They need to be informed of this as well." Izumi stated.

"I will send Jiro to fetch them when you are both ready to receive them." Kohaku offered.

"Now." Rin said staring at him. "They need to come now."

"Alright." Kohaku nodded his head once standing and exiting the house.

"What were her reasons? Did she express them to Jin?" Izumi asked her eyes falling on Sesshomaru.

"Not that this one is aware of." He replied. Sighing Rin closed her eyes.

"There is no good reason to abandon your baby purposefully." She whispered. Reopening her eyes Rin met Izumis. "Let me speak with her first."

"Of course." Izumi conceded.

It was a matter of a few hours before Jiro returned with Rina and her parents, Mui and Goro. Rin and Izumi sat beside one another kneeling properly on the deck with their mates beside them.

"My lords, my ladies." Goro bowed respectfully as did his wife and Rina although she seemed worried trying to hide it.

"Goro, Mui; it has come to our attention that Rina has committed a deplorable act within our territory." Rin began. "Rina, tell all of us what you said to Jin."

"I-I have no idea what you are talking about." Rina stammered out. With both her parents looking at her she shook her head quickly.

"Yes, you do." Rin pressed.

"Rina." Her father said sharply. "Our lady asked you a question and you will comply."

"Jin made it up. He thinks that the child he found is mine. That is not true." She defended.

"On what grounds would he have to lie?" Izumi questioned curtly.

"I am not certain." Rina replied. "I was only trying to help him while he was down at the post, watching the girl for him, when he suddenly became angry at me for it. He began to say that I was her mother…that I abandoned her…"

"Enough." Izumi barked. "Do you know we can smell when someone is dishonest? As dog demons our noses are very keen and can pick on small nuances that humans cannot."

Swallowing hard Rina took a deep breath.

"Try again Rina." Rin encouraged patiently. Trembling she closed her eyes tightly.

"Rina." Her mother pushed. "Did you commit this act? Birth and abandon your infant?"

"I had no choice." She said meekly.

"Like hell you didn't." Mui practically growled out. "Standing by while I accosted the women and gladly assisted with trying to find out who the culprit was."

"My lords and ladies, I apologize deeply for our daughters heinous actions." Goro managed out clearly distressed over the news. "I understand if our arrangements must come to an end."

"The arrangement stands." Sesshomaru said.

"Thank you Lord Sesshomaru." Goro bowed low appreciatively.

"Rina, you are no longer welcome on our land." Rin said. "This will be the last time you come to the compound. Your people can decide what to do with you going forward."

"You…are not going to punish me?" She questioned glancing up at all of them.

"You hid your pregnancy and left your daughter to the elements and the animals. You have to live with that. Whether you care or not I have no idea but for Rin, that would be punishment enough. To live with that knowledge would be devastating." Rin answered.

"I can assure you Lady Rin, Rina will be dealt with and you will not see her again." Mui said.

"Go." Izumi ordered flicking her hand as if they were gnats buzzing around her. Bowing to them before leaving Rina took a breath.

"I do care." She said before turning to walk behind her parents.
