Yikes. I've counted three weeks plus since my last update, that being the revised final Episodio 4 chapter that I've already updated. Sorry for the long wait, especially since this chapter is equivalent to a filler episode, and even more so since I broke the promise that I would release the intro chapter alongside with the first part for Episodio 5. I took way too long to get this chapter out, that I might as well release this and work on the next chapter.
Some things happened after my week of school finals. It's nothing serious, I just had a family vacation for about five days.
Regardless, I mustered up the motivation to fully work on this mini chapter. Thank you for your patience.
Oh, and before I forget, for anyone who doesn't know or are wondering about the reviews for the tenth chapter. Shortly after I made Part 3 to Episodio 4, I made a chapter asking the readers if I should revise the final commentary for it. So feel free to ignore it if you want.
- Reviews -
Rick Rolled: It'll be a glorious sight when it happens. And judging by the name, I'm guessing that you are the guest that suggested I change the rating for the story to M? It was quite funny responding to that review.
Midnight49: I agree, if they knew just what kinds of people Jaune has to face. They'd realize that he isn't as bad as them and that he's still the moral person that he is before.
Peigukiin: Yep, their worlds are really being torn down and being redefined here.
E .Paradox: Ah! Thank you for the review. Reading that part about me suggesting Ironwood having Jaune arrested makes me cringe at my younger self. I was a little confused about the killing a baby part until I realized 'Babyhead'.
Guest chapter 9 . May 20: I agree with your statement, that some people ultimately are irredeemable. For the context of this fanfiction and the story so far, the cast don't know just how bad some of the members in Passione could be. When I get to that, I'll be sure to write them as rooting for Jaune.
PersonaNinja Lux: Thank you for the suggestions. I had taken some of it into consideration when revising the final commentary for that chapter.
X3runner: With how much violence is shown in the media, I'm willing to say that all kids that have seen it are desensitized to those topics. In my opinion, Ruby is an optimistic 15 year old who's lived a sheltered life -seeing how Tai Yang is protective of his daughters- on an island. I made a choice for Polpo dying the first baptism by fire for her. For the statements about Yang's trailer, I got nothing. If Yang really did just shoot shotgun shells into men without aura, then yikes. Regarding how the cast will change over time from watching Bruno's gang, I plan to have the cast mellow out, the students being desensitized to what they see and realize that Giorno's actions aren't as bad. As for the comment about Sun and Neptune, I used that in the revision as well.
Shirou6655: Me doy cuenta de que los comentarios del elenco no fueron tan buenos y lo arreglé. Gracias por las amables palabras.
ENG: I realize that the cast comments weren't that great and I had it fixed. Thank you for the kind words.
Ill: Adam is a charismatic figure, I'm guessing he used that charm to convince Blake to join. Though, that's just me playing her advocate. When you put it like that, it does seem weird that she just left her family for him.
Awesomenessomar5: (T_T) Thank you.
Nobody: Thank you for the beginning statement. I love your analysis of team RWBY, barring Blake, three-fourths of them have a decent life even with some bumps here and there. For the statement of keeping the distrust with Jaune. I'll consider having a small sum of characters that still don't trust him, but I probably won't keep it as that until the Pesci fight. Cardin can only redeem himself through watching Jaune's adventure. I agree with the statement on Ozpin's silence being respectful. As for the statement about Ironwoods plan to arrest Jaune to get his Stand, that is no longer the case after the revision. Nicolas and Saphron's characters drives are to see that Jaune is safe and sound, though I fear that I made Saphron's character too worrisome. Even if it is non-canon, it does a good job painting how much of a terrible person Polpo is. Honestly, Roman and Neo busting out champagne is such a thing I imagine Neo doing, just popping the cork of the bottle across the theater just so everyone can know that she's celebrating. I remember I think it was Qrow that stated there were many religions in Remnant before going into the story of the two brothers. From that I decided to keep to the Italian Catholicism from the source material. As for Araki attending a Japanese Protestant school, I totally didn't know and it explains a lot about the themes of Jojo. As for the statement about this chapter and the next chapter, I apologize, I only have this one so far. And don't worry about your rambling, it's very detailed and presents information that I may have not considered when writing.
Guest chapter 9 . May 21: Thank you for the kind words. I could never really get into harem fics but I don't blame anyone who enjoys it. It's certainly a powermove to show up with several girls around you. I also appreciate some dynamics between characters.
Rev: To answer that first question. No, I didn't have that in mind, I just had Qrow say that because Black Sabbath fitted a Stand that could travel in shadows. But it does seem like a fun idea just having him drunkenly explain the names of old bands. If I do decide to go that route it probably won't be for every Stand. That, the RWBY cast learning to not underestimate Jaune, seems plausible and is even better when they think that Jaune will be able to turn the tides, only for him to be in an even worse scenario later on (Baby Face). I can't wait to get to the part where I can write the cast realizing that a gun is useless in a fight with someone without an aura. And I just love that phrasing, that Jaune is still a goober. Makes me wish that there's more scenes in Part 5 that showcased that aspect of Giorno.
RandomSonOfDorn chapter 9 . May 22: I apologize, I do not. When I started this fanfiction, I thought that I would be having more characters added as I go along. But as I continued, I realize that having interesting dynamics is more interesting than having more characters. Though it's not off the table. If I ever get more requests for characters, I'll consider it.
Annoymus guest chapter 9 . May 22: I'll plan for one when I get to one of the aforementioned recap episodes to replace (13.5). As for the Hamon and Pillar Men origins in this story, I have ideas for it, but nothing concrete. When I get to a point where I need to establish it, then I'll have it ready.
TITAN URANUS: Thank you for the review on the revision. I honestly wish that I did released the version of the revision rather than what I had before.
Fireworks174: Thank you. This kind of fanfic isn't just for me, so I think that it's better for me to ask what the people want. I'd rather do what the people expect than to come up with something that falls flat.
BlankSlate00: Wha-! Wha-! Wha-!
King-Of-Gods: Thank you.
ZA WARUDO: Thank you. Hopefully I can improve from that and go on to write better chapters.
Laharl-chan: Thank you!
Dat-boi-waddup: I wanted to continue the tradition of having Cardin react to 'Jaune' alongside the rest of the cast. Just like in The Platinum of Remnant and Jaune's Bizarre Adventure: SBR.
DeathlyJazzHands55: If there's anything I've learned, it's that a full episode chapter takes a long time and slows down in quality. Though I realize that it's not that lengthy of an episode, I could probably try it in one go.
Blobfish with a brain: Uhh… That actually threw me in for a loop. I totally forgot about height difference between the two. In my opinion, since this story established that Jaune lied about his age, I'm guessing that he would also lie about his height and use something to boost it.
Crapbaskets: *celebratory noises*
Aguirresulises469 on June 15: Okay!
Yang noticed that Ruby had barely said anything since the viewing. "Ruby? Are you okay?"
"I saw him die..." Was the only thing she heard Ruby utter.
Before she could ball her fists, Ruby stopped her.
"Yang, wait. I don't want to hold that against Jaune." Ruby kept her voice low, only enough for the two to converse.
"But, Ruby-"
"I'm… still shocked about what he had to do, but I just want to see my friend again, Yang. Please, just don't hold it against him."
Yang stopped. She felt so angry for what Ruby had to see what Jaune did. She looked at Ruby, her expression looked worried, but a faint look in her eyes told her that she was set on seeing this through.
"Fine." She growled lightly. "I'll let you keep watching, just as long as you're okay."
"I'll be fine, Yang." Ruby reassured her.
Though the two spoke to each other in quiet, Mercury and Emerald were just in earshot of the conversation.
"Honestly, how can they even want to be huntresses if they can't handle blood?" Emerald scowled.
"I guess I have to agree with you there." Mercury shrugged. "Kids are just squeamish about the most tame things."
Cinder glared at the two, earning the attention of the two.
"Keep those thoughts to yourselves." She whispered quietly. "Don't forget who's around us, and our host could hear what we say."
"Y-Yes, ma'am. Sorry." Emerald hastily apologized, while Mercury opted to not say anything.
The speakers of the room once again released a faint static before a voice began.
"Now, before we begin our usual viewing, we're going to just take a little… detour." The Entertainer found the word to describe what is to be shown.
Some members raised an eyebrow.
"A detour?" Nicolas questioned. "This won't take too long, will it?"
"No, it won't. If anything, this is just a short little thing that stylistically represents Jaune's journey."
'This is just irrelevant.' Cinder felt her brows slightly furrow. 'I'd rather continue the viewings to see what other possibilities Stands could have.'
As the lights of the room slowly dimmed to darkness-
The fanfare of the opening song filled the entire room, as a muscular stone statue wrapped in chains and red cloth was shown.
The chains coiled up before shooting off the arrowhead of the Stand arrow, transitioning into Giorno's ladybug symbol.
The colorful background switched, spelling out 'JO'. Before ultimately revealing the title card.
JOJO
JOJO's Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind
"Wow!" Nora beamed as she said what most of the students felt. "This sounds great!"
"Yeah. It's really catchy!" Ruby replied back, any traces of moments before fading away.
"Golden Wind? There's been a lot of references to gold so far." Ren had his neutral expression as he questioned. But before they could discuss any further, the intro went on.
"It's as if you're being crushed"
A low and husky voice sang. A hand went limp as blood dripped down from the fingers.
"By the heavy will of fate"
The droplets of blood hit the ground as chains emerged from it. The screen moves to the left to reveal a colorful image of Giorno Giovanna.
Pyrrha's attention on the viewing was yanked away as soon as her mind registered the lyric's words. Her eyes slightly widening.
Cinder hummed in annoyance.
"This is all pointless." She hissed under her breath. Though her subordinates heard her, they didn't dare say anything.
"That holds your dreams in bondage"
Flower petals flew by, replacing the image with a stylistic silhouette of Giorno. The music dropped with beats to separate the song.
"Let me show you how to break out now"
A pair of legs with boots were running. The scene revealed him to be one of the men from Bucciarati's gang.
"Isn't he from Bucciarati's gang?" Qrow asked aloud.
"Oh, I believe he is." Cinder felt her lips slightly curl upwards. 'It seems this won't be such a waste of time after all.'
"Crush the stones of Fate into atoms"
Coming to a full stop, another stylistic silhouette replaced him as he held a revolver aimed at the camera. The scene transitioned into the barrel's rifling as purple and yellow swirls filled the screen.
"Well, this guy has the right idea in bringing a gun." Roman admitted.
Neo nodded in acknowledgement.
"In a way you've never seen before"
Purple and yellow gave way to chains on a red background. A young woman is seen falling down head first. Her dress flapping in the wind before a cut showed a ceramic head crash against the ground.
"Hoo~ Who's she?" Neptune asked with some of the other girls disregarding his question.
"Was that ceramic head supposed to symbolize her death?" Yang held a hesitant stare at the screen.
"Hey come on, let's just enjoy this." Neptune tried to steer the conversation away. "I don't want the mood to be bummed down."
"Agreed." Sun backed him up.
"The shards of hope buried beneath the rubble"
Another member from the gang, with long hair, was seen holding his hands together as sand seeped through. Revealing him to be in a large hourglass, the scene rotated and showed the other half being mirrored, with the exception of chains instead of sand.
"Will be found by those very hands"
Moving through one of the chain's links, a rather feminine figure from Bruno's gang was revealed.
"So that you can change the world"
Each time the link of the chain passes through the view, the angle of the light rotates around the member until the scene reveals the stylistic silhouette of the member.
"Feeling all that you feel"
A green haired member's profile shot was seen emerging from the middle, as though it were a kaleidoscope.
"Knowing just who you are"
Both halves turned toward the camera, before a simplistic rendition of his face appearing in the middle of the screen.
"You'll see a new world and we'll make it ours"
Bruno is seen marching forward with determination as his figure was replaced by a colorful silhouette.
As the lyrics stopped itself to let the music rise in volume. A swift montage started as Giorno Giovanna manifested Gold Experience out.
The next clip showed the member holding a gun, with six strange Stands emerging from the gun.
A chromatic and reflective Stand beside the member with long hair.
An airplane flying toward the screen with the feminine member in the background.
The member shown with green hair was beside his, rather livid, Stand.
Finally, Bruno Bucciarati with his Sticky Fingers right beside him.
The view changes to two chains rapidly moving to somewhere off screen, as a hand reaches out to grab it both. Making contact, green plant-like vines emerged as the screen brightened.
"FIGHTING GOLD"
The vocals boomed as Gold Experience performed its signature rush of punches before sending a final strike.
As the hook of the song began, the students were, figuratively and literally, blown away.
'They all have rather interesting looking Stands.' Cinder thought to herself.
"It's a shame we couldn't get a better view of them." Ironwood muttered the same thoughts.
"Deep in my rumbling blood"
The camera moved upward to show the member with a gun aim. Firing a shot, the camera followed the bullet, the six small Stands manifesting with one of them kicking the bullet.
"There is something like the grains"
Following the bullet, the member with long hair is seen with his Stand, before said Stand started to glow.
"Of Stardust in the Sky"
The airplane is seen flying around while firing bullets. Seizing fire, it landed on the feminine member's arms before disappearing.
"My Soul shines-"
The final, unknown member showed himself screaming, as his Stand charged up to fill the screen with gas.
"-a light that never will fade"
Bruno Bucciarati turned his back away from the camera as Sticky Fingers exited out of a zipper to deliver a barrage of punches.
"Woah!" Sun felt surprised. "That was their Stands! Wasn't it?"
"I barely got to see them, it went by so fast!" Nora pouted. Ren slightly nodded to his partner.
The Headmaster lightly chuckled to himself before facing the General. "I suppose you got what you wanted."
"I suppose so." Ironwood was unamused. "Though, I saw that each did something unique. I'm presuming it hints at what they could do."
"From under any wreckage"
Flower petals flew down from the screen as the camera moved upwards.
"Fly higher than the gods"
The woman who was falling from earlier is seen wrapped in a blanket looking sad before looking up.
"What about her?" Ruby pointed to the screen. "Did we get to see her Stand?"
"No… I don't think so." Weiss recollected her memory of what has been shown. "Now that I think about it, she wasn't in the restaurant with the other members."
Saphron chimed in curiously. "Does that mean she's not a part of Bruno's gang?"
"That would make sense. But if that's the case, then what is her importance to any of this?"
"A force of nature, I'm Phenomenal"
A view of all the members of Bruno's gang, including Giorno, were seen in a still image that the camera moved upwards.
As one final fanfare played, each of the members were seen walking away as the vines from the chains fell down.
"FIGHTING GOLD"
As music finished, Giorno's likeness on an intricately engraved emblem of gold was shown.
The screen slowly faded to black as the song lulled. Signalling to those watching that the viewing is complete for now.
Nora smiled gleefully. "That was amazing!"
"It was a nice change of pace for once." Weiss admitted.
"Oh man, the song was great too!" Sun turned to the rest of the students.
"Oh yeah, that reminds me." Ruby got the attention of those around her. "What was… the lyrics about?"
Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Weren't you just listening to it?" She received a slow shake of her team leader's head in response..
"I was, uh, focusing on the screen rather than what was being said..." Ruby felt the incredulous stare of her teammate as she stated her reasoning.
Pyrrha was the first to answer her initial question. "It's a song about breaking out of fate."
Nora looked at her with eyes slightly widened. "Oh! That's cool! I didn't know that."
Ren looked at response to her. "You didn't listen to the lyrics either?"
The two had their usual banter between each other as the other students shared conversations, yet Pyrrha went to think about things.
'Breaking out against fate, or destiny? Is that even possible?' Her expression scrunched if by a slight bit. 'Isn't the act of going against either one just another step of getting to the end destination?'
Inhale.
Exhale.
Pyrrha took a deep breath to calm herself. The thought of fate always ate at her, but she would have to save those thoughts for later.
"I mean, we already know that Stands are pretty weird." Pyrrha started to pay attention to the conversation as Sun was explaining something. "But I swear, one of them looked like a weird looking Bullhead."
"That red one?" Neptune thought back. "That looked nothing like a Bullhead, dude."
"You want to explain what it was then?" Sun aimed his question at the blue-haired student, but nevertheless received an answer from the history buff in the theater.
"What you're referring to is the aircraft known as the fighter plane. They were widely used during the Great War from the fact that they were cheap to manufacture in large quantities. After the war, they were dropped in favor of aircraft capable of vertical-takeoff and large airships." Oobleck informed them. "Though, I'm not quite sure what specific plane it's taking after. I see some design aspects from both Valean-Vacuan and Atlesian planes on it."
"Ah-" Sun didn't expect to get a history lecture. "Thank you, Mr. Oobleck."
"-Doctor." He corrected him.
"So, their Stands?" Glynda looked to Ironwood. "Is there anything you could glean from this?"
"I have, but I think I'll wait for future viewings before I come to any conclusions." Ironwood responded briefly. Glynda nodded in response.
Ozpin perked up. "I'm starting to think there's an importance with what our host has titled this. JOJO's Bizarre Adventure."
"You think there's something important about it?" Ironwood looked curious as to what he was thinking.
The Headmaster nodded. "Indeed. Mr. Hirose had mentioned the Joestar bloodline previously, hasn't he?"
"He did, along with encountering them in Morioh." Winter added.
Qrow ran his hand through his hair. "Oz, where are you going with this?"
"The members that we know about are Joseph Joestar and Jotaro Kujo. Notice anything?"
The group went silent, but not for long.
Qrow looked confused. "They have Jo's in their first and last names?"
"Precisely, my guess is that this bizarre adventure is about the Joestar bloodline."
"Wait, but Jaune isn't a Joestar." Nicolas interrupted, having heard what they've been discussing. "It's been revealed to us that DIO Brando was his biological father."
By this point, most of the members in the theater have started to listen in on what's being discussed.
"That is the case, but the sole connection Jaune has with the Joestars is that DIO Brando has had previous history with Mr. Kujo. Perhaps that is why this is subtitled 'Golden Wind'."
- A/N -
Progress on this chapter was slower than I would like, especially on May 28 - June 5, 2021 to study for and take the finals.
For that beginning part with Ruby and Yang. I'm sorry if it might seem out of character(?), out of place, or if it evokes the same feelings as the pre-revision of the last chapter, but I felt as though I just needed to wrap up that loose end. To have Ruby, though slightly disturbed by the scene, want Yang to let her keep watching. Not to mention, I just wanted a small moment to do something similar to my predecessor, Kyraptor's Golden Remnant.
As some have read the lyrics, I mixed some of the literal Japanese-translated lyrics of the first verse and the rest I believe uses the English dub of the OP to better set up the themes of fate for the characters.
Cast commentary is generally light considering the content of the OP, which I've already compared to a filler episode.
With the part about the ceramic head, I looked back frame by frame and found out that it's actually Abbachio's head. But I decided to keep it ambiguous for the cast to think it's Trish's.
The Great War in RWBY is no doubt parallel to the first World War in our world, I figured that fighter planes should be present in their world as well. Doing research, Narancia's Aerosmith is based on a German plane during WWII, but I opted to have it as a mix between in-world designs of Remnant. And the idea of Valean-Vacuan is because Vale had manufactured planes for Vacuo to use during the war since they were allies.
Finally, Ozpin's group slowly coming to the revelation behind JOJO's Bizarre Adventure. It'll take a while, but perhaps they'll find out the story of the Joestars.
That does it for explaining my thought process of making this chapter. One thing I found out while writing the ending commentary for this chapter, is that the RWBY fandom wikia has a demonym for each of the Kingdoms, and that Vacuo isn't 'Vacuon' but rather 'Vacuan'.
