Previously on Pokémon: The Lost Child, Piplup and Treecko wanted to battle to gain more experience, but Piplup struggled with actually fighting, so Treecko taught him as much as he could. During it, Treecko fought off a gang of Patrat's, and now their leader has evolved and they want revenge.
"You have evolved," one of the Patrats said.
"Yes, it seems I have with this that we will all have our revenge on the one that beat us," Watchog said.
All of the Patrats cheered on Watchog, as they were all eager for revenge for their humiliating defeat by that single Treecko. They all started preparing to head out, getting as much material as they could as well as some practice in. They needed as much as they could get. Watchog also discovered that he could put people to sleep through hypnosis, a trick that would come in handy when fighting.
Meanwhile, Piplup and Treecko were continuing to practice on each other. Piplup was getting much better at fighting, which Treecko was quite happy with. He did a good job.
"I think that you could try fighting another Pokémon again."
"Who do you think we should fight against Treecko?" Piplup inquired.
"Well, you could try another Pokémon gang, as I did, but those aren't always the easiest to find."
"It's worth trying, though," Piplup said.
Piplup and Treecko continued searching around, finding opponents to battle, eating when needed, and more, but for a few hours, nothing good. However, luck would soon arrive when something they did not expect came around.
"This is not going well. No Pokémon wants to battle. What are we doing wrong," Treecko said.
"Maybe there just aren't many Pokémon around these areas. Maybe we should try going somewhere else," Piplup replied.
"I heard that you two are looking for a battle." Piplup and Treecko looked over to see who it was and it was an Ursaring. They were terrified at the idea of fighting a Pokémon so much larger than them. However, a few seconds later, the Ursaring revealed herself to be a Zorua disguised.
"I got quite a jump out of you, didn't I," Zorua said.
"What is that?" Piplup asked, still pretty frightened.
"That's Zorua. They can conjure illusions and, as such, disguise as other Pokémon," Treecko said.
"I can't copy any of the abilities of other Pokémon though, unlike someone like Ditto," Zorua replied.
"What is a Ditto?" Piplup asked.
"Ditto is a Pokémon that can transform into any other Pokémon as long as they are looking at it. As Zorua over here said, she is also able to create illusions of other Pokémon and not copy anything like their powers," Treecko said.
"Your friend is correct, I have had the pleasure of facing a Ditto It is certainly a weird experience, to say the least," Zorua said.
"So you said something about wanting a battle?" Treecko asked.
"Yeah, that is right. I am a bit bored right now, and I heard that there were some Pokémon looking for battle Pokémon at my stage."
"Stage?" Piplup said, confused by what exactly she meant by that word.
"Oh yeah, I don't think I have explained this to you yet. Many Pokémon evolve, for instance, right now I am a Treecko, but eventually, I will evolve into a Grovyle."
"Wait, so will I evolve to?" Piplup asked.
"Yeah, you will evolve into Prinplup at some point. I can't say exactly when, though it's kind of random, but batting helps you evolve faster."
"I will evolve as well into Zorarark. I can feel myself getting close. Well, are we going to battle or not? I don't like waiting around" Zorua said.
"If you want a battle that badly, then we will give you one," Treecko said.
Piplup and Treecko started charging at Zorua to attack. Treecko was finding it weird that Zorua wasn't saying anything, as this was technically two against one, but she just seemed fine with it. Treecko attempted to pound Zorua while Piplup launched his bubbles at her, but she dodged out of the way. Zorua showed up behind them and they both tried to attack, but they quickly realized it was an illusion. Zorua snuck up behind Piplup and disabled it with Feint Attack.
Treecko attacked Zorua and the two battled at close range. While Treecko put up a good fight, he was getting overwhelmed as Zorua's attacks were far stronger than his. Piplup got back up and started attacking with his bubbles, but Zorua dodged out of the way and feint attacked Piplup again. This time, though Piplup blocked it and tried to counter with his pound, Zorua overwhelmed him with her moves.
Treecko came in to assist, but Zorua was again able to get around them to separate the two and overwhelm one with her much stronger attacks. Piplup and Treecko, on the other hand, were holding on and getting some hits in, wondering how they were going to deal with her. Piplup and Treecko both knew their strength was in the number advantage, but the problem was that Zorua kept separating them.
After a while of this, both Treecko and Piplup were too exhausted and forfeited the battle, leaving Zorua as the victor.
"I will admit you beat us quite badly. Good job."
"You two weren't too bad. I could see some real teamwork potential. You just need to hone your skills."
"Thanks, you were quite good," Piplup said.
"I have a feeling that you two will turn into great Pokémon." Before Zorua could finish that thought, she was surprised by a bullet seed. It was a Patrat, part of the gang that Treecko chased off. They were waiting for Piplup and Treecko to become weakened from the battle to attack.
"What is going on?" Treecko said as he got a brief glimpse of what was going on before he was knocked out along with Piplup. The Patrat gang dragged the bodies of the two over to their hideout.
Piplup and Treecko were chained up on a tree, and the two eventually woke up from their fainting and saw all the Patrats hanging out celebrating their capture of the two.
"Oh great, it's these guys again," Treecko said.
"Why would they do this?" Piplup asked naively.
"They want revenge, of course, I beat all of them. After all, these kinds of gangs won't rest until they get their honour back."
"Boss they are finally awake," A Patrat said.
"This is my favourite part. How are we going to get our revenge?"
"I know, let's force them to battle us when they have no chance. While we watch them be humiliated."
"I have a better idea: let's continuously insult them until they beg us to stop."
"I have an even better idea, let's strand them somewhere and watch as they slowly give up trying to escape,"
"These are all amazing ideas. Why don't we do all of them?"
All the Patrats started laughing at this idea at once and were amused at the idea of getting their revenge.
"Seriously, this is the best these guys can come up with," Treecko said.
"I would say go with the first one. It will be fitting payback for the way that they humiliated us in battle," Watchog said.
"We need to find a way out of here, Treecko," Piplup said.
"I know that, just give me some time. I am trying to figure something out, but these ropes are tied well, I am somewhat impressed."
"Why don't we let them go?" Someone that sounded like a Patrat said. The gang was confused by this. Why would one of their members suggest releasing them? They started arguing with each other, trying to figure out who said it. Piplup and Treecko were even more confused about what happened; they didn't see anything, and they had a pretty clear view of all the Patrats.
Suddenly, though, Piplup and Treecko were freed from their ropes, and they looked over to see that it was Zorua. It seemed that she had come to save them.
"Is that you, Zorua?" Piplup asked.
"Be quiet. You don't want the Patrats to hear you." However, Zorua's warning came too late as the Patrat's heard what Piplup said and noticed right away that the two had been freed.
"Run!" Treecko shouted.
The three ran away as fast as they could with the gang giving chase. Zorua was quite fast, but Treecko and Piplup were only barely able to outrun the gang. Treecko and Piplup were starting to get tired and knew they couldn't keep up with this forever, so they had to fight the gang to chase them away for good.
"Zorua we can't outrun them," Treecko said.
"What are we going to do then?"
"We need to fight back, I have beaten them all before," Treecko responded.
"But one of them had not evolved. Are you sure we can beat an evolved Pokémon?" Piplup asked.
"Piplup has a good point. Evolution gives Pokémon a massive power boost, and Watchog has a massive advantage over us," Zorua replied.
"I think I have an idea. You just need to hear me out,"
The Patrat gang eventually caught up but they couldn't find the trio. As Zorua's part of the plan began, she disguised herself as a Patrat.
"Boss I saw them over here," Zorua, disguised, said.
"Stay here, I'll go investigate," Watchog said to his gang as he followed the disguised Zorua.
After Watchog got far enough away, Piplup and Treecko sprung their trap, luring the gang away with noises before surprise attacking the gang and knocking them all out very quickly. Next, the two snuck up on Watchog while he had his back turned and was unprepared, and they were easily able to overpower him, taking the whole gang out.
"That worked far better than I expected," Zorua said.
Treecko looked over to Piplup to say, "We sure showed them who was boss," but when he turned back to look at Zorua she had vanished.
"Where did she go?" Piplup wondered.
"Who knows, I suspect this won't be the last time we see her though," Treecko said.
