Previously, in Pokémon: The Lost Child, Prinplup and Grovyle were pondering what to do with the information they were given about The Brotherhood while training. The manipulations of Aegislash continued to scare them off from opposing them, and now they are ready to continue their normal adventure.
"I am getting hungry, Grovyle, we haven't had any food in hours," Prinplup said.
"Yeah, I understand. I am too, but we need to keep going."
"When is the end of this desert coming?"
"It shouldn't be too much longer."
Both Prinplup and Grovyle continued slowly slogging through the desert, both of them exhausted from walking in the heat for hours. Prinplup was taking it better due to his typing, but Grovyle was struggling badly.
"Grovyle I see a village over there," Prinplup said, after spotting a village on the left side.
"We don't need to stop. I can feel the end of this hellhole coming soon." Just as Grovyle was talking, the exhaustion was too much for him and he ended up collapsing on the ground. Prinplup was panicking at this but knew that there was a village nearby from spotting it earlier and hoped that the Pokémon there could help him. He grabbed and Carried Grovyle to the village. The village had already dealt with a few exhausted travellers, so they were instantly ready to help out. Grovyle was laid down in a water spring, and Prinplup soon joined him.
Grovyle woke up in a spring, looking around to see what happened. He noticed he was in a village and that Prinplup was relaxing next to him.
"What happened, Prinplup?"
"You collapsed on the sand. I had to bring you here to get some rest."
"I may have pushed too far. It's a good thing you spotted this. I will say this spring is quite relaxing."
"We often get exhausted travellers coming into our village, so we have prepared ways for Pokémon of all types to relax," A Heatmor said to the two.
"Where exactly is this water coming from? The desert doesn't have much water?" Grovyle asked.
"How could you be so unaware? We have water-type Pokémon in this village that provides this water."
"That is quite clever," Prinplup said.
"Yeah, I have to admit that is a good idea. Now that you mention it, you could have sprayed some water on me during the walk."
"Oh yeah, I guess I could have, I didn't think of that," Prinplup replied.
Heatmor said. "No need to get caught up on what you could have done in the past. Focus on the here and now and what you need to focus on is getting rest."
Prinplup and Grovyle would spend the next few hours resting in the spring, slowly regaining their energy. Prinplup was starting to notice again that he was hungry, so he went out of the spring to find some food.
"Hey, do you know where I can get some food?" Prinplup asked the first Pokémon he came into contact with.
"We have a garden if you take a turn on that left corner if you need some food," Sudowoodo said.
"Thanks for your help."
Prinplup went to the place where Sudowoodo told him to go too, and he was correct; there was a garden with quite a lot of food. There were many Pokémon grabbing food from it, so Prinplup followed suit and grabbed a few berries to eat.
However, Prinplup was starting to notice something as the wind was getting a lot stronger than normal. His vision was becoming distorted with sand getting in his eyes. Prinplup was able to use his water powers to wash them away, but it was still something very noticeable to him.
"Hey, is anyone noticing the sudden burst of wind?" Prinplup asked, hoping one of the Pokémon in the village would answer, but all of the Pokémon just shrugged it off.
Prinplup was weirded out, but he decided to head back to the spring to see how Grovyle was doing.
"Hey, Grovyle, are you feeling better."
"So much better, this is amazing." While Grovyle is talking, he opens his eyes only for sand to get into them right away. Grovel heads into the water to wash it out as quickly as possible.
"What happened?" Prinplup asked Grovyle.
"I got some sand in my eyes. I don't know how that happened," Grovyle said.
"Wait, did you say sand in your eyes? The same thing happened to me not too long ago. The wind is also much stronger than before, though I seem to be the only one noticing," Prinplup replied.
A realization suddenly hit Grovyle: "It's a sandstorm. We need to go now."
Prinplup and Grovyle started feeling the ground shaking strong footsteps that got stronger with each second that passed, whatever was coming was getting stronger. Prinplup saw a figure in the distance approaching. He couldn't get a good look at it, but it looked bad. Prinplup nudged Grovyle to signal to him what was going on, and he too knew this was not good.
"Heatmor, there is something bad approaching from the distance," Grovyle said, panicked.
"Don't worry, you two; it's probably just some passing through."
Prinplup and Grovyle felt the sandstorm getting stronger as that figure got closer and closer.
"Where is this awful sandstorm coming from?" Grovyle asked.
Heatmor responded, "It's probably just something natural, we get these all the time."
The Heatmor would soon be proven wrong, however, as giant stones were thrown into the village by the figure, destroying a few structures. The Heatmor, at this moment, realized how much danger they were in and started shouting, "Everyone run for cover."
The whole village was panicking in terror at this weird figure shucking stones in the village.
"Can you see what that thing is Grovyle?" Prinplup asked.
"I can't get a good look at it, but it is huge and it is only getting closer. This village may not be equipped for a fight, but we are. It's time for us to take this thing on." Prinplup nodded in agreement, and the two sprinted off to take on the mysterious figure and save the village from it.
The closer the two got, the more intense the sandstorm got, which confirmed their suspicion that it was this thing that was causing the sandstorm. Grovyle had heard of the idea of certain Pokémon being able to summon weather by simply existing. This could be one of those cases.
The sandstorm was brutal though, and as the two inched closer, it was starting to hurt them, but they weren't going to give up so easily.
Prinplup and Grovyle eventually made it and got a clear look at what they were looking at. It was a Tyranitar, a massive and extremely powerful Pokémon that summoned a sandstorm simply by existing. Prinplup and Grovyle were quite shocked to see this Pokémon but were ready to fight to protect the place that helped them.
The Tyranitar was powerful but also very slow, so Prinplup started sprinting around in circles, distracting the Tyranitar, who was unable to get a hit in. Meanwhile, Prinplup was attacking Tyranitar with metal claws, slowly damaging it. Grovyle also circled back to the back of Tyranitar with his speed and attacked him with a leaf blade, while Prinplup attacked from the front with his bubble beam.
The sandstorm, however, damaged them, and Tyranitar, using this distraction, launched a powerful dark pulse that hit both at the same time. Prinplup and Grovyle were not quite down, they noticed that the Tyranitar was starting to limp and knew that their attacks were doing something.
Prinplup and Grovyle sprinted back towards Tyranitar, trying to attack with its massive hands, which they managed to dodge out of the way. Grovyle hit Tyranitar with leaf blade after leaf blade while Prinplup was metal clawing Tyranitar. Tyranitar, despite its immense power, was struggling to hit the two due to their speed and teamwork.
"Prinplup, I can feel Tyranitar getting weaker. We just need to get a few more hits in," Grovyle said.
"Let's give that team move a try. That will win us the battle."
Prinplup got ready getting his body prepared for Grovel to jump off of it, with Prinplup giving a boost and sending Grovyle up super high, so high that Tyranitar couldn't reach him. Prinplup then shot his bubble beam in the air right next to Grovyle, and Grovyle used his leaf blade to launch them at Tyranitar one by one.
This distracted Tyranitar enough that Grovyle lunged at Tyranitar with a leaf blade directly in his face. Meanwhile, Prinplup at the bottom started shooting a water gun at Tyranitar, something that he didn't even know he could do, which was piling on the damage even further. Grovyle noticed this and was impressed.
The Tyranitar had been damaged badly and fell onto the ground, creating a massive shockwave. However, it was fine as the two had won the battle against him.
"Great job, Prinplup," Grovyle said.
"Man, we make a great team, Grovyle. We just took down a powerful Pokémon three times our size just by working together."
"Yeah, we do."
A few Pokémon from the nearby village heard what was going on and came to check out what was going on.
"Don't worry everyone, this Tyranitar tried to attack your village, but me and Prinplup were able to neutralize him."
Heatmor said, "You took down an attacker of this village, just the two of you. Not only that but a Tyranitar. Your strength is much higher than we realized."
The entire crowd of Pokémon was standing there in awe at what had just happened. Grovyle was quite enjoying the admiration he was receiving. Prinplup didn't care because he wasn't doing it for the fame, but rather to help as much as he could.
Afterwards, Prinplup and Grovyle took a bit more time to rest up before continuing on their adventure through the desert, wondering what was going to come next for them.
