Previously, in Pokémon: The Lost Child, Empoleon and Sceptile encountered the mysterious Dark Empoleon sent by The Brotherhood to take them out. This foe seemed unstoppable, but the duo was able to take him down by outsmarting him and using his own power against him. Now Empoleon and Sceptile were on the run, getting as far away from that as possible.

Both Empoleon and Sceptile found their way to a field where they were exhausted from the constant running. They had both been running for several hours with very few breaks. They should not have been able to last that long, but their determination to get away had somehow allowed them to get away. Their bodies couldn't take it any longer, though, and both were starting to shut down.

"I can't go on any longer, Sceptile, I need to stop," Empoleon said while panting heavily.

"I don't think I can take anymore either. I hope that we are far enough away," Sceptile said, also panting heavily and barely able to walk anymore.

Empoleon sat down on the floor while Sceptile sat down on a rock. Both were totally exhausted and not able to go on. They needed to get this.

"Where are we?" Empoleon wondered, now having the chance to think about their direction. They had been running away mindlessly, not even considering the direction they were going in.

"I honestly have no idea we could be pretty much anywhere now."

"Wherever we are, it better be far away from The Brotherhood," Empoleon responded.

"The Brotherhood's reach could be massive. Who knows if we will ever be able to get away from them?" Sceptile said.

"There has got to be some kind of better way of doing this." While Empoleon and Sceptile were talking, some Pokémon started falling from the sky.

Empoleon and Sceptile both noticed this happening right away. They were both naturally confused about how, in Arceus' sake, this could even be happening. They were both exhausted, but their curiosity got the best of them, and they got up and slowly walked over to the Pokémon that had fallen from the sky.

The Pokémon they saw when they arrived was unconscious and one that Sceptile had never seen. It was orange and blue with swirling arms as well as a head shaped in a weird way that could not be properly described.

Scpetile came up and asked, "Are you okay?" And he got no response.

"It looks like they are unconscious; we have to help!" Sceptile nodded in agreement with Empoleon's statement. They would help nurse the unknown Pokemon back to proper health.

Empoleon and Sceptile were doing this for a few hours, waiting for some sort of response from the Pokémon. There were signs of life, so they knew he was alive, but he seemed to have been injured badly by some sort of unknown force. After a few hours, the Pokémon finally started to regain their conciseness.

"Sceptile, they are waking up," Empoleon said.

Sceptile rushed back over to check up on them. "Are you okay?"

"What happened? Where am I?" the Pokémon said.

"You fell from the sky and we helped you recover from that. What is your name?" Sceptile asked.

"I—I I don't remember," Both Empoleon and Sceptile were stunned at the Pokémon saying this. They don't know who they are or seemingly anything. Sceptile took Empoleon away to discuss this.

"So you have no idea what this is?" Empoleon asked.

"Yeah, I have never seen a Pokémon like this before, and they don't seem to remember anything," Sceptile responded.

"Is there a reason why they may not remember anything?" Empoleon asked.

"I have heard of the concept of Pokémon losing their memories before. It is caused by some sort of extremely bad injury," Scpetile responded.

"I'm not sure how we are supposed to approach talking to a Pokémon with no memories of anything," Empoleon asked.

"I honestly have no idea. I will try something," Sceptile walks up to the Pokémon and says, "So hey you, we don't know exactly who you are but we are willing to help you find out to the best of our abilities."

"I thank you for saving me and thank you even more for being willing to help," the Pokémon said.

"So why don't we start with you? What is the last thing that you remember?" Empoleon asked.

The Pokémon is sitting there trying to concentrate and remember what they experienced. "I remember waking up and seeing you, I was injured, badly injured."

"Why were you injured? Try to remember," Sceptile said.

"I was falling, fall from the clouds. No wait, I can remember some sort of blackness higher than anything else," the Pokémon responded.

"That could be space, he is falling from space," Sceptile commented.

"I didn't know Pokémon could go all the way up into space," Empoleon commented.

"Neither did I, though I have heard about rumours of God Pokémon being able to go up into space." When the Pokémon heard that something kicked up in his mind, he now remembers, "I am a god Pokémon, just like you said."

"Alright, that is amazing information. Is there anything else you can remember, like your name?" Sceptile said.

"I can't remember."

"Try to concentrate. Your name is still somewhere in your head. You just need to recall the memory."

"Deoxys," the three heard someone say from the distance, Empoleon and Sceptile looked up to see a green, snake-like Pokémon with these yellow circles across his body. He was also massive.

"I have finally found you again Deoxys, you may have escaped my clutches last time, but I will take you down, for good," Deoxys was given the boost he needed to remember his own name. At the exact same time, Deoxys remembered the name of the Pokémon facing him down, "Rayquaza."

"Deoxys, so that is your name?" Sceptile asked.

"Rayquaza gave me the boost I needed to remember. I remember your name as well, Rayquaza, but I still don't remember anything else," Deoxys replied.

"Wait, you don't remember anything? Well, it should be easy to take you down then." Rayquaza started charging toward Deoxys, ready to take him out with as much power as he could. Deoxys, seemingly completely on instinct, transformed into a completely different form. This was like his old form, but it was clawed on his head in his hands. Deoxys hit Rayquaza with his hands so hard it sent him flying to the left.

"What?" Deoxys said, confused about how he had just done that.

"What was that?" Sceptile asked, also stunned.

"I have no idea," Deoxys responded.

Rayquaza quickly regained his footing and fired a hyper beam towards Deoxys. When Deoxys was distracted long enough that he wasn't able to dodge out of the way, he tried to block it instead. While trying to block it, Deoxys shifted into another form, one that was like his old form but was way bulkier. Deoxys using this form was able to take the hyper beam extremely well.

Deoxys seemed to be able to transform into multiple different forms at will. He didn't even know how he was doing it. It was activated by some kind of muscle memory. Once he did so, he was able to shift between these forms at will. Deoxys knew now he needed to take down Rayquaza on his own. He flew towards Rayquaza, but while doing so, he shifted into another form. This form was slimmer and it made him move at super speed, getting to Raquaza in seconds. Deoxys then hits Rayquaza for an extremely powerful superpower attack that knocks Rayquaza back even further.

"How are you still this tough when you are supposed to have amnesia?" Rayquaza said.

"He may have amnesia, but the skills he learned are still inherent. You can't take those away, Rayquaza," Sceptile commented.

"Well, in that case, I guess I am going to have to take you down myself," Rayquaza charges up to Deoxys, trying to slap Deoxys with his tail, which Deoxys quickly blocks and tries to counterattack. The two get into some close-quarters combat, hitting each other with their various parts and trying to dodge attacks.

While battling, Deoxys manages to fire off some sort of psychic ball, another move he didn't know he could do until he did it. Deoxys keeps battling with Rayquaza, and while his physical attacks are still just as strong, every time he tries to use the psychic ball it gets weaker, so Deoxys was trying to use it less than that. Rayquaza tries to fire hyper beams at Deoxys, each of which Deoxys is able to dodge and then hit him back while Rayquaza is recharging.

"This Deoxys is really powerful. I can see why he is considered a god Pokémon," Empoleon said.

"Yeah, I can see that as well," Sceptile responded.

"Should we try and help him?" Empoleon wondered.

"I'm not sure what we can do to help; these two are clearly far out of our league," Sceptile said.

"I do see your point, but maybe we can at least do something like, maybe help distract Rayquaza," Empoleon suggested.

"That might work. I guess we can give it a shot."

While Deoxys and Rayquaza were still battling, Empoleon and Sceptile launched a new team move. Empoleon shot a gun of water in the air, and Sceptile used his leaves to blow the water high enough to hit Rayquaza. The hit did barely anything to Rayquaza, but the hit managed to distract Rayquaza for a split second, as he looked away to see what was going on. Deoxys used this chance to hit him with a powerful psychic blast and pummelled him with superpowers until Rayquaza was weakened enough that he was forced to retreat.

"You got lucky this time, Deoxys, but next time you won't be so lucky," Rayquaza said, after which he flew away, out of sight.

Deoxys, now that he had recovered from the fight, was able to properly converse with Empoleon and Sceptile. "I need to thank you two for helping me restore my memories."

"Wait, you remember everything now?" Sceptile asked.

"That fight with Rayquaza managed to reawaken my dormant memories. I remember everything. I will forever be thankful for that," Deoxys said.

"Why was that Rayquaza attacking you?" Empoleon asked.

"I'm sorry but I can't tell you," Deoxys responded.

"Why can't you tell us anything?" Sceptile asked, more confused than ever about that.

"There are stakes far beyond anything that you can ever imagine. My lips are sealed. I can't say anything. I am truly sorry, but I need to go, thanks for your help," Deoxys said with a tone of clear sincerity. The duo could tell Deoxys didn't want this, but something was compelling him to be quiet. They didn't understand why though. Deoxys, after saying his last words, flew off back into space while Empoleon and Sceptile watched.

"Well, that has got to be one of our stranger experiences," Sceptile commented.
