A/N: An explanation is in order. I abruptly without explanation dc'ed this story a while ago. If I had to guess it was around Arc II of GbNF began, I don't have a memory this in all honesty. But I do remember some folks who actually liked the story and where it was going. So, I had my editor, alwaysdoubted (A phenomenal writer in his own right.) edit the first chapter so that those who looked forward to the next installment. So I guess this is an apology? Anyway, enjoy and check out alwaysdoubted's profile and hs stories too. God knows he deserves some attention too, if not more than me. Enjoy.

China:
Your name, much to your disbelief, has held some weight.
The Shu, Wu, Wei, and Yellow Turban Rebels tried to no avail in finding and recruiting you, but you're always one step ahead. Being a mercenary always appealed to you more than working for a Lord. If you had your way, you'd continue this life until you died of old age or on the battlefield. There's no middle ground.
But recent events may make that dream a bit complicated.
Yuan Lei, your name, has caught the attention of the entire country after your performance at Hu Lao Gate. You became the first warrior in China's storied history to hold your own with Lu Bu, the Invincible Tyrant. Not that you volunteered to fight, you kinda just wandered on the battlefield, and Lu Bu saw you as another victim. But what he didn't expect was for you to fight him to a draw, allowing the Shu forces to claim victory, much to Wei's chagrin.
Now Shu and Wei have started looking for you but never had a name to go off of as you began to make Wu your temporary home. Ever since Sun Jian made a false claim that you were under his employment, you've been mentioned all over the Chinese province. Before fleeing the area, you stormed into his castle, killing half of his guards while injuring Zhou Yu, Zhou Tai, Sun Ce, and placing fear into Lianshi.
Seeing there was no place to go, you decided to make a village near Hu Lao Gate home for a few months, believing history will leave you be. Not even a full day passed when bandits entered the village demanding your presence.
"Where is Yuan Lei!? We've had scouts follow you since you left Wu! Now show yourself before we start killing villagers!"
They sounded serious. You've grown quite fond of the people who are now your neighbors. The thought of them killing your new-found friends and family brought an indescribable amount of anger into your soul. You decided to show yourself, Grabbing your favorite Odachi, a gift from a distant relative in Japan, you exit your house to oppose the bandits. They were easy to pick out, recognizable from the other village folk.
"And here he is!" One that looked to be the leader approaches you menacingly. "You think you can just show off your near peerless skill with a sword and expect to disappear? You have challengers all over China, and they'll always find you!"
You sigh defeatedly. Chances are they hate you with a burning passion. You never wanted to be the best warrior in the world, that was too much work. But here you are being praised as one of the best China has ever seen.
"Well, that sucks for me, I guess. But if I must live the life of a Vagabond, then I will make my mark..." You say before unsheathing your Odachi. "...by killing you malicious bastards."
You zoom at the bandits with inhumane speed, slaying all three with one stroke as their bodies separate as if they were butter. The look of shock from the bandits pierces your eyes as you casually walk past them to pick up your sheath.
It seems that conflict is attracted to you like food to a homeless man. Ultimately, you decide to leave after saying goodbye to the folk who happily accepted you here. It left a bitter pill for you to swallow since these people would more than likely be the only friends you make. Plus, they'll be put in harm's way if you chose to stay due to your skill with a blade.
And here you are, a mercenary selling your skills to folks who desire your services. If they can find you anyway.
One day while you were in the Shu capital eating lunch, the pseudo poster boy for Shu, Zhao Yun, walks up to you. Not one for starting a conversation, you continued eating in silence.
"Are you the Mercenary, Yuan Lei?"
You swallow your food and turn toward him. "I am. You must be Zhao Yun because you're the only one who dresses like that in addition to that Spear you carry on your back. What does Liu Bei's Right Hand want with me?"
Taken aback by your description, Zhao Yun nearly jumped out of his seat. "Lord Liu Bei sent me to see if you are really him."
"And I'm tellin' you that I am," you respond with a mouth full of rice, swallowing it all in one giant gulp.
You flag the Chef down for seconds to which he happily accepts, seeing as you helped him get his restaurant running with your namesake. Now you find yourself here regularly to eat his food despite not being a Shu officer but well known by the townsfolk.
"So, what now?" you address your visitor. "If Liu Bei is requesting me because he has a job, tell him to meet me here. Cool?"
Zhao Yun nods in consent. "Stay right there. I'll go get Lord Liu Bei."
"Of course." *Burp*
A job from Liu Bei? Looks like you're moving up in the world. However, you have to remember who you are. You're a Mercenary. If he offers a position in Shu's army, you must decline, a fact that remains vivid in your head.
"Chef. Make another plate for one more," you request.
He raises an eyebrow. "Are you that hungry, Yuan?"
You shake your head. "No, but we may be having some more company. Call it a hunch."
"Roger that Boss," the Chef says before giving you the seconds you asked for.
You immediately start eating. Shortly after, Liu Bei and Zhao Yun enter the place. They sit on opposite sides of you. Already you're on edge for what's about to take place, even if it seems like a simple chat. But you know well enough by now that things never stay peaceful for long.
Liu Bei, who sat on your right, was the first to speak. "Yuan Lei? The Sand Dragon?" You nod in a manner that makes Liu Bei look childish for asking. "I have a job for you."
"Music to my ears, Your Greenness," you say with a subdued smile.
"I have recently accepted the hand of Sun Shangxiang in an alliance between Wu, but I need someone to escort her here." Liu Bei laid out the details. "Will you do it? I'll pay you handsomely."
Ouch, maybe fortune still favors, not you. "Yikes. Sorry Liu Bei, but I can't do that."
He frowned. "Why not?"
"A couple of months ago, Sun Jian made a false claim that I work under Wu's forces. In anger, I killed half his guards as well as injuring a lot more. I'm pretty sure I'm branded as a criminal in Wu."
Liu Bei and Zhao Yun are shocked to hear your side of that story, one you weren't keen on retelling. The three of you understood the risks of you escorting Sun Shangxiang to Shu, considering what happened between the Sun Family and yourself.
"Deep apologies Your Greenness," you tell him.
Though disappointed, Liu Bei did not berate you. "It is alright. Zhao, you will be going in his place then."
He saluted his Lord. "Of course, Lord Liu Bei!' Zhao then gave you some money. "Here you go, Yuan!"
Politely, you push his hand back. "The food is on me. I eat here for free. Enjoy yourselves."
With that, you finish your second plate and get up to leave the restaurant. Greeting you outside was a detailed illustration of a town left in disarray. Steel clashed ferociously in the distance as shades of Black and Red came into your vision.
"Oh no," you mutter as Liu Bei and Zhao Yun witnessed the same thing.
"This is bad. Lu Bu is attacking civilians!" Zhao Yun exclaimed.
Knowing what was to come, you tell them, "I'll stop him. Just get Liu Bei out of here."
Zhao instantly remembered that fight as he was on hand to witness it. "Right, you fought him to a standstill at Hu Lao Gate. My Lord, we must go!"
"Best of luck, Yuan Lei!" Lord Liu Bei says before they departed.
At this point, you're going to need all the luck you can muster. You unsheathed your Odachi and ran in the direction you hear the fighting. Fighting Lu Bu would be inevitable, but so long as he isn't angry, it wouldn't end in a stalemate like last time. But that would mean that-
"My darling Lu Bu~~~."
Diaochan wouldn't be around. You inwardly curse your luck and start having thoughts about the injuries you would be patching up later today. At any rate, China's most hated couple spots you.
"Well, if it isn't Yuan Lei! You showed me a damn good time at Hu Lao Gate!" Lu Bu boasts. "I was hoping I would find you here. Rumors circulated that your favorite restaurant was here! It seems like my sources were reliable for once!"
"Lu Bu, attacking defenseless villagers is a new low for you," you spat in disgust. "What do you want?"
Lu Bu lets go of Diaochan's grasp and stalks up to you. He is a lot taller than you are, and the armor he sports makes you look like a Shu peasant. But you refused to back down. You held your own against when he's angry, a point where he is nearly unstoppable. The staredown between each of you lasted for what felt like an eternity.
Eventually, Lu Bu backs off and laughs heartily. "There's nothing that can scare you, huh!? Hahaha!"
Confusion couldn't begin to describe what you're feeling. But all would be revealed when Lu Bu requested you take him to your favorite food spot.
"This is really good! You sure know how to pick your spots, Yuan!" he exclaimed.
"Thanks?" you say with uncertainty. "So, you said that you wanted to hire me?"
Lu Bu points towards Diaochan while he continues to devour the food given to him. You look at her, hoping to hear an explanation. "We were looking for you because we have one hell of a job for you. You see-"
"Get to the point, Instigator."
Diao Chan visibly gasps in shock at the name you voiced. You weren't born yesterday, and it's clear as the cloudless sky that Diao Chan uses Lu Bu like her personal weapon towards anything she dislikes. However, you're his equal, and when he's calm, his superior. Therefore you can afford to give her lip. A luxury that no one else has.
She huffed. "Fine, be that way. We require your assistance to kill Dong Zhuo and his army."
"Whoa now, that's one hell of a job here." And the last thing you expected from them. "Lu Bu can slaughter Fatso's army by his lonesome if he wanted. Why ask for my help?"
"Lu Bu insisted. You're the only warrior whom he sees as an equal. He could take the army alone but feels like he would have more fun if you were fighting alongside him."
"It would be a battle for the ages, Yuan!" Lu Bu interjected. "Plus, we'll pay with Dong Zhuo's treasury! It's perfect!"
You think about their offer with careful deliberation. All this time, you've been aching for a reason to vent your anger after being told that no one will leave you alone due to your skill. Dong Zhuo's forces will make for a perfect target.
"Alright then, I accept. Under two conditions," you laid down the ground rules.
"Name it! We'll make it happen!" Lu Bu seemed pleased with your answer.
You cross your arms. "First, whatever happens there, leave Shu out of this under any and all circumstances. Anger will be replaced with sadness if my favorite food spot is gone."
Lu Bu didn't hesitate to agree. "Done! Like any of Shu's officers pique my interest for combat!"
"What's the second condition?" Diao Chan asks.
"After Dong Zhuo and his armies are dead, I want my name and efforts erased from the battle," you state.
They both went slack-jawed. "But why!?" Lu Bu demanded.
"Unlike you, Lu Bu, I prefer a quiet life. I was doomed for the mercenary life after word got out that I fought you to a standstill. Not to mention, I want to grow old and not recklessly get myself killed. That's why."
He reluctantly granted my final request. "Fine! We will leave you alone after we rid China of Dong Zhuo!"
"Thank you very much, Yuan." Diao Chan says. "We will meet at Hu Lao Gate in two days. Until then, come, Lu Bu darling~~."
Lu Bu stood up. "Until then, Yuan Lei! I expect to see you perform grandiose on the battlefield!"
You scratch your head as you watch the duo leave.
The Chef stayed silent until they left. "Are you sure about that, Yuan? Those two are pretty dangerous, you know."
"I know, but I've been around the block enough to know when the ship's about to sink." You dig into your pocket and left a considerable amount of money on the table. "Here, because they didn't pay."
Being a well-known mercenary pays well, so there's that. Despite the near guarantee that Lu Bu won't attack you during your travels with them, one sentence can turn Diao Chan into Captain Instigator. Best keep your eyes and ears peeled.
You say your goodbyes to the Chef and exit the restaurant, deciding to walk around Shu to see if anyone would want to hire you for a small job while these two days pass.
While walking past Shu's palace, Liu Bei notices and calls for you. "Yuan! It's good to see that you're still alive!"
You explain everything to The Emperor of Shu and what you'll be doing two days from now. Needless to say, he's taken aback at your actions. "You will really leave us to go and massacre Dong Zhuo and his army with Lu Bu and Diaochan?"
You nod, similar as you did when you first met him and also relay to him of your plans for now.
"How about going sparring with some of our soldiers? They need to know what a defeat feels like, my personal guard being exceptions, of course. I will pay you after," Liu Bei offers.
Seeing as there's nothing better to do, you accept and follow Liu Bei's lead to the training grounds where you meet Guan Yu and Zhang Fei. Both didn't look all that imposing, but you knew better than anyone that looks can be deceiving.
"Ahh, so you are the Sand Dragon, Yuan Lei?" Guan Yu scrutinizes you up and down.
You do look like one who typically traverses a desert, hence the nickname. You're quite flattered with the fact that the God of War recognizes you.
He laughs heartily and pats you on the back, which slightly pushes you forward. "Your reputation precedes you! Liu Bei has told Zhang and I that you will be disciplining our youth."
That claim was hard to argue with. You proceed to ask why they need to know defeat.
"It's so their heads won't swell up, more so for Zhang's kids than mine. His son can be really cocky at times."
"He is not! Don't believe a word Guan Yu is spouting, Yuan! They really just need decent sparring partners besides us. With you filling in our place, the defeats will just happen quicker is all."
Was that Guan Yu's attempt at humor? Eh, never mind that. Here come the young ones. The male is Zhang Bao, and the two females are Xing Cai and Guan Yingping, respectively.
"Who's this, father?" Zhang Bao inquires.
"This is your sparring partner." Guan Yu says. "You may call him Yuan Lei, the Sand Dragon."
Zhang Bao scoffs in your direction. "This is the warrior who fought Lu Bu to a standstill? He doesn't look like much to me."
Smirking with a healthy dose of confidence, you shrug. "Funny, that's what every one of my opponents, including Lu Bu, said before they became well acquainted with the dirt."
Your comment made Zhang Bao back off slightly while Xing Cai and Yingping made failed attempts to hide their giggles.
"Fine," Zhang Bao seethes before showing his weapon. "Brandish your weapon so we can see if you can back up your claims."
You accept his offer and unsheathe the Odachi. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei are astounded at the weapon as they've never seen any form of Katana before.
"What Dao is this, Yuan?"
"It isn't one. It's a Katana, a weapon from Japan called an Odachi, twice the length of a regular Katana. I have family in Japan, so they gave this to me as a parting gift, one I treasure greatly," you explain.
An Odachi is very difficult in of itself to find in Japan, so the fact that you, a Chinese warrior, owns one is rarer than a Bigfoot sighting. Zhang Bao brandishes his weapon, a Flail Sword. Now you've seen people fight in odd ways. Hell, before you used any matter of sword you could get your hands on, you fought with a sharpened Dou Dizhi deck of cards.
But that's beside the point.
A Flail Sword is definitely on the weirder side of weapons you've seen in your time as a warrior. Like it mattered anyway. As soon you were given the okay to start the fight, you defeat Zhang Bao in a matter of seconds. Everyone was shocked at how quickly the battle ended, not so much the result.
"Whoa, Yuan! That was insane! You really showed my son what's what, eh?" Guan Yu said in amazement.
You relax and walk up to Zhang Bao before offering him a hand. He took it and stood up. "Wow, sorry for judging you on your appearance. You are a monster, that's for sure!"
You shrug in response and explain how his stance left him wide open to people who were faster and more agile. You later ask if whenever he and his Father fight are the bouts close.
He nods. "Yeah, actually!"
Point taken. You simply tell him to work on leaving fewer openings when he fights someone quick. Zhang Bao accepts the advice whole-heartedly.
Next up is Xing Cai, armed with a Sword and Shield. People who fight with those are more frequent in Europe than in China, but here you are facing someone who fights precisely like that. You take a second to take an educated guess as to how she fights based on her stance, only her eyes visible to you, sort of like she's playing peek-a-boo.
Sensing Xing could easily be distracted, you take out a Dou Dizhi card and chuck it in the air before rushing at her. But what everyone didn't expect was the card to swoop down and knock her off balance long enough where you can sweep her feet. Cai's face looks beyond shocked. You help her up as you go pick up your card.
Zhang Bao notices it, however. "Is that a Dou Dizhi card? What was that doing in your pocket?"
"I used to fight with a sharpened deck of Dou Dizhi cards. I still keep them on my person though I now rely on my sword fighting. You never know when someone wants to play a game of Dou Dizhi," you say casually.
Xing Cai turns to her sister. "Yingping, do you want to go next?"
She frantically shakes her head. "No, seeing you and Bao get beat that bad is enough."
"Cai, you shouldn't rely on defense too much. If you stay planted in one spot, your eyes will be able to pick up anything, no matter if it's detrimental to the fight at hand. Find someone aggressive like Bao and spar with them regularly. That way, while you can pick up on ways to attack, they can pick up ways to defend themselves."
Cai nods in agreement with everything you just said. Well, these kids hopefully learned something from being humbled.
"Splendid job, Yuan!" Liu Bei lauded you. "I can see with the skill you have how fighting Lu Bu to a draw was possible." He snaps his fingers, and a large sum of money placed in a bag is brought to him. "Here's your pay."
It's getting late, so you decide to go have dinner. Liu Bei invites you to eat with him and the others, but you don't want to raise suspicions about Shu or that you're not an officer. With that in mind and out of respect, you take the food and eat outside on the palace steps. About a few minutes into your meal, you hear footsteps, a few to be exact. Look behind you, and it's the children.
"We heard that you were eating out here, and we wanted to join! If you don't mind." Cai said.
You honestly didn't mind at all and invite them to sit. The four of you continue your meals in each other's company. You tell them of your time as a mercenary, and how it brought you all across China.
All this allowed Yingping's curiosity to get the better of her. "May I ask you a question?"
"Sure. I realize that I am a big mystery to you all," you relent.
"Your skin is tan, and while you have the facial features of a Chinese male, are you a Chinese full-blood?"
You laugh and compliment Yingping on her great question before telling her that you were Chinese man. Your parents were Yellow Turban Rebels when they conceived you. When the Yellow Turban Rebellion ended, the surviving members scattered across the country, some leaving China altogether. Despite not being related by blood, the other members were your uncle and aunts. Your parents decided to live near the Silk Road, hence your darker complexion. Your father was the one who taught you how to fight with a Dou Dizhou deck of cards while Mother was a Swordmaster, teaching you her ways before leaving to travel the country. In two days, you're departing with Lu Bu and Diaochan to slaughter Dong Zhuo's forces as well as himself, a fact that causes the children, mostly Yingping, to worry.
"You can't go with Lu Bu!" Yingping wailed. "He'll kill you after Dong Zhuo's dead! He can't be trusted."
"Relax, Yingping." You told her. "So long as he remains calm, he's beatable. I only need to worry if he gets angry. I'll be fine."
Yingping starts to blush, and Bao immediately calls her out. "Guan's blushing, Cai!"
"Oh hush, Bao. Let her be before she hurts you," Cai warned. "You know she's more powerful than us both."
You agree with her. Being the daughter of the God of War means that some of his horrific power must've been passed down genetically. You calm Yingping down, not wanting to get an angry Guan Yu on your case anytime soon or at all. You get Bao and Cai to help, and they do.
"*Sniff* Yuan just *Sniff* make sure you come back alive. You may not be a member of Shu's forces, but you're still friends with us, right?" Yingping asked all teary-eyed.
You nod, lightly squeezing her hand in assurance. "Of course. I'm only two years your superior, but our friendship has only begun. I won't throw it away by dying soon. I promise you this much."
The other children bring it in for a hug. You all separate, and before you leave for your inn, you help bring in the dinner plates. Afterward, you head back to your inn, and as soon as you crash on your bed, you fall asleep.
Following Day:
Waking up the next morning had you feeling refreshed and invigorated. You got out of bed to get dressed before a knock on the door occurred.
"Give me a second, I'm putting my clothes on." You say before fastening your pants and throwing your shirt over your head. "Okay, you may come in."
The door creaked open and in walked Yingping. This told you she apparently snuck out of the castle to see you off. You ask her why when she could've just waited until later in the day.
"I was looking through my telescope back at the palace and noticed Lu Bu and Diaochan, so I rushed to see if you were okay." Yingping approached you. "I know you said you'll be fine and most likely will be... but I can't shake the feeling that something bad might happen to you."
Not the first thing you were expecting her to say, but you thank her for being so thoughtful before reiterating that you'll be fine. To make Yingping feel better assured, you tell her you'll use extra caution since you're smart enough to know anything can happen with those two involved.
Yingping calms down slightly after hearing all this. "Thank you, Yuan. I'm sorry to just barge in on you like this. I wish you the best in your travels." Her next action surprised you as she leaned in and kissed your cheek. "Hopefully, you'll come back to Shu soon."
You never considered yourself a looker but were given second glances whenever talking with an attractive female client. When it came to understanding women's feelings, neither mother or father taught you how complex they were. But you decide to end your possible relationship with Yingping by giving her a hug and kissing her forehead, helping the situation.
It was time to go as you gather your things. "Goodbye, Guan Yingping."
"Goodbye, Yuan Lei." Yingping hid her sadness while waving goodbye.
Deep in your heart, Yingping will always worry about your well-being and safety, but it didn't upset you. Most women her age will do that if they care a great deal for you. Perhaps her siblings will keep her occupied while you're away.
You start for your food spot, but Lu Bu calls for you. "Yuan! We are leaving early, so come on!"
So much for eating before you find more work. You guess that they want to eliminate Dong Zhuo so you all can go your separate ways. A relationship like this will last for so long before it implodes.
The personalities of the party were vastly different.
You, a mellow kind of guy who fights as a means of living. Lu Bu, a bloodthirsty puppet. And Diaochan was his puppeteer. But you keep those thoughts to yourself.
You meet up with the pair and head for Chang'an where Dong Zhuo and a majority of his forces reside. It would take all day for you three to get there. On the way, you ask Diaochan on what the plan will be since kicking down the door and declaring you're going kill everyone in the city is one hell of a stretch.
Diao Chan turns to you with a strange smile. "Since you asked, we're going to pretend to bring you in as a prisoner as Dong Zhuo branded you as a threat in his empire's eyes. We'll bring you in front of him, and before he hands out your punishment, Lu Bu will start killing the soldiers around you. In the chaos, I'll free you of your binds, and we'll join the fray. Afterward, we'll work our way through the main path of the city and clear it of any remaining soldiers. Great plan, right?"
In all honesty, you've heard worse. Getting rid of Dong Zhuo and his closest soldiers would kill the lower ranking officers' morale before you three take them out too. You tell Diaochan that the plan will do and then asked her if she ever planned on telling you this plan if you never brought it up.
She merely giggled at the latter. "I don't know." Diao Chan then swayed closer to you, her delicate hand crawling up your chest. "You tell me, handsome~~."
Is Diao Chan really flirting with you with Lu Bu literally right next to you?
Carefully, you back away. "You should be careful as to what you say and who you say it around." You point a thumb to her bruiser. "I feel like Lu Bu here is the jealous type."
"I am, but I don't mind sharing Diaochan with you, Yuan. We're equals," Lu Bu interjects. "What's mine is yours and what's yours is mine. A true token of our friendship, wouldn't you agree?"
What an odd day so far. First Yingping, and now Lu Bu, the Bloodthirsty Tyrant, is now calling you a friend. Well, you could have worse friends nowadays. Maybe he won't bug you for fights when you get down to the nitty-gritty. But now wasn't the time for fragile friendships.
When you arrived at the gate to Chang'an, the three of you put the plan in action. Diaochan places the binds around wrists. They're quite tight, necessary to make your capture seem realistic. You then ask Diaochan for reassurance that the plan will work.
"What, Yuan? You don't trust me?" she asks, the flirtatious tone still present.
You were less than thrilled with her vagueness. "Do you really want to know the answer to that question?"
Diao Chan didn't seem unfazed by your sarcasm. "I guess not. Come, it's time to put our plan in action."
You concede and start to move, but Diaochan stops you. "Apologies, but I'm going to have to take your sword, further selling the point that you're a prisoner."
Now you were suspicious. Give someone else your Odachi? It was like giving away your child, something nearly every decent parent would never want to even consider.
Diaochan recognizes the skepticism of your expression. "I promise no harm will come to it. You have my word."
I finally relent and hand her the Odachi. She quickly looks it up and down. "It's really lengthy," she remarked. "What's the point of a sword this long?"
"The same reason why people fight with lances - range. Lances can't slice things, only stab. Swords can," you say.
Diaochan nods intently at the knowledge. She grabs your binds, and the pair leads you through the center of Chang'an as the citizens glance at you with either fear or bitterness.
In truth, you never even met Dong Zhuo before. When your name became synonymous with the man who fought Lu Bu to a standstill, he immediately branded you a notorious criminal in Chang'an. The binds around your wrist were starting to burn your skin. Diaochan was a woman of many talents, knot tying included.
At last, you three had arrived at Dong Zhuo's palace. Lu Bu opens the door to the throne room, and you finally see the Lord himself in all his gluttonous glory. He sat on top of his throne, hands around two of his many concubines. Diaochan was also one of his, but they never did anything intimate, not when Lu Bu was around. Reluctantly, you get down on your knees feigning defeat.
"Lord Dong Zhuo, I bring you Yuan Lei, the Sand Dragon of the Silk Road," Diao Chan displayed you like merchandise for sale.
"Ahahahaha! Very good, my Diaochan! You as well, Lu Bu, my stepson." Dong Zhuo let go of his concubines and rose out of his chair, taking his sweet time walking to where you knelt, that viciousness coming to the forefront. "Who do you think you are, fighting the great Lu Bu to a standoff! You should've stayed hidden, insect!"
"To think that the great Dong Zhuo would be a short, fat, gluttonous, boar of a man. Don't bite me, I might contract a disease," you retort
Hey, just because you had to feign defeat didn't mean your sharp tongue had to go with it. It looked like Dong Zhuo was about to snort like a boar. That remark earned you a backhand slap across the face.
You spit up a little blood. "You hit like a girl."
"Hmph!" Dong Zhuo sneered. "Any last words before we execute you, Beetle!?"
"Yes, actually." You give a mean smirk. "It shall rain blood in this throne room today."
Those were the trigger words for Lu Bu as he instinctively attacks the soldiers near him. You stand quickly despite your limited mobility and use your enemy's weapon to cut the binds off of your wrists. The marks indicate how well Diao Chan had you tied up.
"Yuan!"
Speak of the Devil.
Diaochan calls for you, hiding behind one of the pillars during the melee. In her hand was your Odachi. She promptly tosses it to you, and you catch it with one hand before unsheathing the instrument that will murder anyone loyal to Dong Zhuo. You instruct Lu Bu to spare the women. Like they would willingly marry a man like this fat bastard.
Lu Bu laughs heartily. "Of course! Tonight, a Demon runs wild!"
"Wait, where's Fatso?" You quickly scan the room and notice Dong Zhuo fleeing through the back. "Lu Bu! He's going out the back! Finish him off! I'll deal with the soldiers in the city!"
"Right!" Lu Bu finishes off his opponent before chasing after Dong Zhuo.
You turn to see an enemy about to attack you, but he was cut off by a chain whip. Where did that come from?
"I can fight too, Yuan," Diao Chan appeared from out of nowhere with that weapon. "Come, we must slaughter the others~~."
You nod in agreement as you playfully bow and reach for her hand. "May I have this dance, milady?"
Diaochan plays along and accepts the gesture. "Of course, my Lord Yuan."
You both head out for the city, attacked by every soldier in sight. But you're more than a match for the cannon fodder that is Dong Zhuo's army. You find an old man and raise your sword to skewer him.
However, Diao Chan stops you before the blade connects with his skull. "No, that's my father. Father! Over here!"
The old man shakily rose up. "Diaochan... It's good to see that you are safe."
The Elder gives her a hug. Upon releasing her, he notices you. "Ahhh, you must be Yuan Lei. I am Wang Yun, Diaochan's adoptive father."
You respectfully bow. "It's nice to meet you, Wang Yun, but we're in the middle of a battle, and Chang'an is in chaos."
"Yes, as I planned," he says. "It was I who suggested to Diaochan that she and Lu Bu find and ask for your assistance in Dong Zhuo's destruction. Is he dead?"
"Lu Bu is chasing him as we speak, so he will be soon," you tell him. "We're just clearing the city of his army."
"Genius. I would love to join you, but this sickness of mine has finally begun to take its toll. I fear that my time on this earth may run out soon." Wang Yun gestures to each of you. "Go, and do me proud." He then retreated back inside his small home.
"Your old man is brilliant. I can see where you get your smarts from," you remark.
Diaochan blushed openly from the compliment. "Thank you, Lord Yuan. We must finish what we started. Come, ~~."
She's kept up this flirtatious tone ever since you asked about her plan. Diao Chan must be playing with you, as always. Regardless, you appreciate the banter, no matter if it's a front or not.
After killing the rest of Dong Zhuo's men, the two of you return to the throne room to find Lu Bu holding Dong Zhuo hostage. "Ahhh, I thought you two would never come back! I have caught him as you can see!"
"Good," you state before ordering, "Kill him. End his miserable life at once."
Not needing to be told twice, Lu Bu thrusts the Sky Piercer through Dong Zhuo's throat, killing him instantly. This fear-mongering is now extinguished, which made you nod contently. Well, this partnership went better than you initially thought.
"Well, that's that. Now to find his treasury." You begin looking around, only to have Lu Bu step in your path. "What is it, Lu Bu? Can't you see I'm looking for my payment? And remember the conditions in which I agreed to do this. You will leave my name out of what happened today."
"Of course... Because you will no longer be alive when word reaches the kingdoms!" Lu Bu swings wildly at you, but you manage to dodge the attack by the skin of your teeth.
You're not surprised in the slightest. In fact, the only thing that did surprise you was how long it took before Lu Bu enacted this betrayal. You had to give it to him for being patient throughout the ordeal since you weren't suspecting his true intentions until late. It seems Yingping was right, but thanks to the promise you made to her, you were keener to your surroundings.
You blankly stare at Lu Bu. "Why are you doing this?"
"I cannot be considered the greatest warrior in China when I have an equal," Lu Bu says while towering over you. "You must die, Yuan Lei! It is the only way!"
"Lord Lu Bu, stop this madness at once!" Diaochan commanded.
Much to your shock, Lu Bu flat out ignores her. "You think I didn't know you and your father's plans to manipulate me into killing Dong Zhuo? I knew this from the day you fell for me. In truth, I was going to kill Dong Zhuo, then his land would be mine. He faces you. "But you helping me was the icing on the cake."
Can't say you didn't see that coming. "Then why ask for my help?"
"Because I still respect you as a warrior. What a way to die, wouldn't you say? Committing genocide on the most hated man in China's soldiers before dying of your wounds? It's a warrior's dream and all part of my plan!" Lu Bu then readies himself for a bloody battle. "Now, raise your sword and face me!"
"So you never cared for me, Lord Lu Bu?" Diao Chan was clearly saddened and distraught by the sudden realization.
"Never, woman," he spat. "You played with my emotions, and in response, I did the same."
Talk about shockers, eh? But you expected something like this would happen.
You get ready for the fight of your life as Lu Bu rushes at you. Steel makes a mind piercing noise as the furious duel commences. Lu Bu goes for a ferocious vertical swing, but you dodge and retaliate with a swing at his hip, barely grazing him. This marks the first of many wounds that will mar this battle.
As time slowly begins to feel forgotten, the bout you two are having becomes more and more fierce. Wounds covered your body and face but none too grievous. The same can be said for Lu Bu, his armor partly destroyed, exposing his incredibly toned upper body. His Sky Piercer became slightly duller, both your breathing growing heavy. Diaochan watches with a glint of fear in her eyes, realizing that if Lu Bu wins and kills you, she will be next.
"You never cease to amaze, Yuan Lei! You have shown me a fight I will never forget for as long as my spirit remains on this earth!" Lu Bu boasts.
Shakily, you steady yourself in your stance. "We're both getting weary, Lu Bu. This duel needs to end now, or else neither of us will see the sunrise tomorrow."
Lu Bu's smile was one of cockiness before coughing up a considerable amount of blood. "I agree. Come, Sand Dragon! Let's finish this!"
Again, he ran at you with pure adrenaline, going for another vertical strike to end your life. You telegraph his movement and swing horizontally, landing a clean-cut deep in Lu Bu's abdomen. You feel a fresh wound on your cheek, fortunate the damage was minimal. Turning around, you see Lu Bu on the floor, eyes staring aimlessly into the ceiling.
Cautiously, you walk to his beaten body. The wounds Lu Bu inflicted on your person are starting to catch up as it takes a lot of energy just to sit, but using the Odachi, you safely plant your butt on the floor.
"Are you there, Yuan? Normally, I would bypass the pain to move, but the wound you gave me is too deep for me to do such a thing," Lu Bu says defeatedly.
You respond, telling him that you're sitting next to him using your sword as leverage. He chuckles before coughing up more blood than last time. You then asked for the real reason as to why he attacked you.
"I was speaking the truth when I said there can be only one of us in China. Only one of us may live to see happiness, and this battle proved my statement, who receives the glory and respect they deserve..." He paused to breathe in a deep breath. "Along with Diaochan's hand."
You were appalled by the last remark. "What do you mean?"
"I... I am a jealous man, Yuan," he weakly says. "Diao Chan normally wouldn't so much as bat an eye at another man. But when she first saw you after our very first duel, I can tell she was becoming enamored."
You respond by telling him that Diaochan was starting to develop feelings for him in all actuality.
Lu Bu once again chuckles. "That may be so, but it was too late for me. My path had been set, and I didn't want her to become involved in my war-seeking life. One wrong move and I would make a decision I would come to regret for the rest of my life. If Diaochan were to die because of me, I wouldn't be able to take it, whether if she was manipulating me or not. I have come to care for her too much to not forgive her, no matter what she does to me. But back to our duel."
He coughs up more blood, a chain reaction as you did the same but not producing as much of the copper fluid.
"I have staked my name and fought with all my being. While you may not favor combat like I, in fighting me at your best, you have honored me in ways neither of us could've imagined. Yuan Lei, I wish to ask you two favors, honor a dying warrior's wishes."
"Name them," you say.
"My first wish is for you to take my Spear. Have a blacksmith reforge it into a sword fitting of a warrior like yourself. Whenever you deem it necessary to make your physical and mental superiority felt, take that sword and slaughter all who oppose you."
Diaochan was now standing next to you in tears. "Why, Lu Bu? I loved you so much."
"I know, and what I said about you wasn't true. I would love you even if you never wished to see me again," he stated uncharacteristically in a soft tone. Blood came pouring from his mouth, the sight unbearable to watch. "Diaochan... my love. I want you to live your life how you see fit. Dong Zhuo is dead, the nightmare for you is over."
Diaochan can only nod in agreement.
"As for my second wish, Sand Dragon. I want you to take care of Diaochan for me in my place. Love her as I would have, and she will do the same for you."
"You know I can't do that, Lu Bu," you protest. "Her heart belongs only to you. I can't fill the void you're leaving behind."
"You underestimate yourself, Yuan," Lu Bu retorts. "Before we arrived at Chang'an, I have said that what's mine is yours and vice versa. She has no choice but to love you as she did me. Isn't that right, Diaochan?"
Wiping the tears from her eyes, Diaochan responds, "Of course Lu Bu. Even if he doesn't feel that way at first, I will convince him that he's worthy of my affections."
A ghost of a smile appears on Lu Bu's face. "That's my girl. If you can't do this as an honored warrior, then do it as my friend, Yuan. Please?"
"How do you know that I'll survive?" you ask rhetorically, the loss of blood apparent as you struggle to stay upright even with Diao Chan's help. "I'm slowly succumbing to the wounds you gave me. If I don't get treated soon, I'll be dead as well."
Lu Bu's breaths became unrhythmic and sporadic. "Because... we were followed."
"Yuan!"
"Brother Yuan!"
"Sand Dragon! We have come to help!"
Out of nowhere, the children, as well as Liu Bei and Guan Yu, show up. "Oh no, this is bad. We have to get you back to Shu at once. Diao Chan, come with us."
She nods. "I will. I will stay by Yuan's side from now on."
"Green Man," Lu Bu addresses Liu Bei.
"Yes, Tyrant?" the Lord asks.
"Two things before I succumb to these wounds. One, if you let Yuan Lei, die my spirit will haunt you for the rest of your days."
Liu Bei visibly gulps in fear. "And two?"
"Take my Ji, bring it to a blacksmith and have him reforge it to a sword for Yuan. That's an order. Understand?"
"Understood. We must leave at once!" Liu Bei exclaims.
Not long after you heard those words, you blackout.
Two weeks later:
When you next awoke, your head starts ringing, but you shake it off. Green banners and light green walls are all over the room you're resting in, meaning you must be inside the Shu palace. Bandages were wrapped all across your body, arms, legs, including one across your left cheek. Looking to your left, you see Diao Chan nearby asleep on a chair, an empty cup and teapot situated on the bedside table. Diao Chan slowly stirs awake, and upon seeing that you're conscious, broke down into tears.
"My God. You're alive..." *sniff* "You're alive!"
Diao Chan pounces on you before giving you a deep hug that you instinctively return despite the excruciating pain it brought to your arm. What you didn't expect was for her to kiss you deeply afterward. You return her affection in full. Instead of separating, the embrace grew deeper as you feel her hands intertwine with yours. You finally separate and see that the tears are still flowing from her beautiful eyes.
"I thought you would never wake up! You've been unconscious for two weeks!" Diao Chan informed you.
Two weeks? It felt like hours to you! You ask her how did you survive.
"Normally, the wounds you attained would be too problematic, but Zuo Ci showed out of nowhere and gave us this cup and teapot with tea inside. He instructed us, mostly me, to have you drink it. Phoenix Tea he calls it. After I had you drink it, he told me that you would be fine so long as I never left your side. So I didn't, and now you're okay." She hugs you again. "I'm so happy!"
Diao Chan then broke the hug sooner than you'd like and got off the bed. "I'm going to go tell everyone that you're awake. Stay right there."
She ran out of the bedroom to go retrieve the others. Zuo Ci was here? Amazing. You always wanted to play him in a game of Dou Dizhi, even if he would absolutely destroy you. Still, the experience alone loomed as the greater reward. Shortly after thinking of that, Liu Bei, Yingping, and Guan Yu enter the room.
"Welcome back, Dragon. You truly are made of tough stuff if you can best Lu Bu and live to tell the tale," Liu Bei says.
"We're sorry for following you, but Yingping insisted," Guan Yu interjects. "And it was a good call too. Otherwise, you might've perished. I took Lu Bu's Halberd to the army's blacksmith and ordered him to reforge it into a sword for you."
You nod. "Thank you all."
Liu Bei shakes his head. "It was nothing compared to what you did for all of China. Killing Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu, two of China's most feared men, is a justice that no amount of favors can repay. If anything, it is we who should be thanking you."
"But, we would rather tell you this in person than a tombstone." Guan Yu says.
You agree with him despite the unreasonable amount of pain you're in. At least you're alive.
Yingping walks up to you and gives you a big hug. "I'm glad you're alive. You have so much to tell China, and your death would've been catastrophic on us all."
Immediately after she breaks the hug off, Diao Chan returns to the room. "Lord Liu Bei. Lord Guan Yu. Lady Yingping. May I speak with Yuan alone, please?"
They all nodded. "Of course. While you may still refuse to join Shu, until those wounds are healed, you're one of us. Let us help you if you need anything at all." Liu Bei states.
"Speedy recovery, Yuan." Liu Bei says as he and Yingping start for the door.
Guan Yu kneels down, so you two are level. "My daughter is really fond of you, isn't she? I'm glad that you are alive, it would do her much harm if you died. We'll speak tomorrow. Rest up for now. You deserve it."
He then left the room, leaving just you and Diao Chan. She walked up and got in bed with you, taking her hand and intertwining it with yours with a soft, tender squeeze.
"I'm sorry," she began.
You raise a confused eyebrow. "For what?"
"It was my fault that Lu Bu wanted to fight you so much," Diao Chan admitted. "When he gets angry, he normally blacks out and can't remember what happened, relying on me to help his recollection. When I told him of you, he smiled for the first time. In conjunction with plotting to kill Dong Zhuo, we also made efforts to find you on the battlefield."
"So all those times when Lu Bu found me-"
"Was on purpose," she finished. "Being a mercenary makes you easy to predict, including when we first came to Shu. Now because of me, he's dead, and you almost died. I'm such a fool."
You shake your head in disagreement. "No, you were just trying to make your lover happy. He wanted all of this to happen, so who are you to beat yourself up over it. Think positive."
To enforce your point, you gently kiss her on the forehead. This instantly brightens up Diao Chan's expression as she smiles before giving you another kiss. "You're so kind and compassionate. If you don't mind since we'll be together from now on, I wish to know you're dreams. But if you don't want to-"
"It's fine," you interrupt her. "I'll tell you, my dear."
Your simple dream was to grow old with a family, perhaps two or three kids. You also tell her of dying in battle, but being with her made that dream is pretty much dead. Nothing else mattered more than her, and you'll be damned if anyone took that away from you.
"That's refreshing to hear. I don't think I can take it if you up and died so suddenly, not after today, anyway," Diao Chan says.
She gave your hand another tender squeeze, relieved that you're still here and alive. Maybe now was the chance to put your plan into action. Carefully, you pull her hand up and kiss it, causing her to blush madly.
"This may be sudden, but I love you," she declares as she held your face in her palm. "I love you so much."
You practically melt on the spot. "I love you too, Diao Chan, and will never leave your side."
"Thank you. You just made me a delighted woman." Diao Chan replies before leaning in.
Her lips are now atop yours. Like your last embrace, she deepened it until you found yourself flat on the bed with her on top. What initially started as a simple kiss slowly devolved into her getting very passionate while being careful of your injuries. She aggressively tugs on your clothes, her hands guiding yours until they make contact with her heavenly frame and curves.
"I want you. I need you, Yuan, my love." Diao Chan then leaned in toward your ear, her voice making your body shudder. "Mark your territory."
Warning! Lemon incoming! If you want to ignore it, keep scrolling until you see the all clear! Otherwise, Happy Reading!
Without warning, Diao Chan starts shedding off your clothes as your fiery passion continues. Before you knew it, you're nude as the day you were born. She reaches for your cock and starts stroking it as she kisses you, her tongue slithering inside your mouth as moans desperately escape her lips. Not that you minded, but you remind her to keep the volume low. You two aren't alone, after all.
"I'm sorry," she coos an apology. "I'll try, but no promises."
Diao Chan moves in to kiss you once more as if you're lips had a magnetic attraction. Your lips separate, but her hand remains wrapped around your sex. She was determined to make you feel pleasure unrivaled by anyone else lucky enough to share your bed.
She leaned in and kissed the tip, making you shudder violently before slowly taking it in her mouth. Your cock gradually disappears as Diao Chan engulfs more of your sex inside her mouth, all while her beautiful eyes give you a lustful gaze. Taking your cock out of her mouth, Diao Chan strokes you at a more moderate pace, using her saliva as a lubricant.
"Let me show you how much I appreciate your love, darling~~," she drawled.
Continuing to voluptuously descend and lick your shaft, Diao Chan's wiles made short work of arousing your member to a full erection. You became entranced with her fulfilling your sexual needs. She sucks vigorously, occasionally deepthroating your entire length, her free hand massaging your testicles, the perfect set up. Her attention to detail had provided you an unforgettable first time, a testament to how far she was willing to go with you.
Diao Chan smirks, full of confidence at what she was doing and going to do to you. "And now, the moment we've been waiting for~~."
She maneuvers out of bed before disrobing herself of all clothing. A nose bleed trails down your mouth at the sight of her stunning physique. There was no ounce of imperfection from her bust going down to her shapely legs.
Blushing profusely, Diao Chan climbs back into bed and straddle your waist, lining her swollen lips against your phallus to stimulate herself. You can see drool protruding from the corner of her mouth, pleasure heightening to the sky. She let out a content sigh and gasps suddenly as your manhood impaled her. She then sat there.
"My~~ love," Diao Chan stammers. "I need help, please~~."
You start gyrating your hips slowly, feeling her pussy gradually loosen. Diao Chan lays her palms on your chest before moving them up to cup your face and back down again to press down. She moves to her own rhythm, establishing a smooth pace with euphoria taking over her actions. Her bountiful posterior slams against your pelvis, which produces a lustful sound of skin colliding.
A loud groan leaves you as her sex tightens around yours, bringing nothing but pure bliss from this sexual encounter. Now you couldn't believe why you were so blind to the beauty of this woman, and not just her sex appeal.
Reaching out, you grasp her hand to pull Diao Chan closer to you while rising up to mash your chests together. The feeling of her breasts pushing against your chest was unbelievable. She had a hard time silencing her moans, so you cup her face for a frenzied kiss, Diao Chan instantly melting into it.
"Take me, Yuan." Diao Chan halted her movements and got off her lover before getting on her hands and knees. "Don't hold anything back."
You position yourself behind Diao Chan, her perfect ass on display for you alone. Guiding your manhood, you penetrate her again, the tightness increasing from this angle. Both your breaths grew heavy as the seconds turned into minutes. The sight of Diao's backside thumping against your groin was almost overwhelming. All it did was force you to go faster, her fingernails gripping the sheets. For good measure, you begin pulling on her hair to deepen your thrusts. Sweat pours from each of your bodies as your lovemaking reaches daring heights.
Slowing down, you feel Diao Chan's opening constrict your member she howls into your mouth, her orgasm rendering her almost immobile. By some miracle, you held off from your own implosion, not quite ready for the night to end so soon.
Panting heavily, Diao Chan eyes you lovingly before locking your hand with hers. "Did you enjoy yourself?"
Smiling, you gave her another kiss, your hands fondling her large breasts. "Yes, you were the best I've ever had."
"The best only deserves the best, and that's only a taste of what's to come," she says, noticing you were still rock solid within her velvet depths.
You kiss each other again while embracing her from behind, both your thumbs stroking her hard nipples. Feeling mischievous, you kiss down her voluptuous figure, starting from her neck down to her breasts, taking the time to treat them equally with your mouth and tongue. The tables were now turned as you place Diao Chan on her back before hovering over her.
"Want more, honey?" she murmurs to you. "Use me all you want. I'm yours."
That was all you needed to hear.
Swiftly, you enter inside her and begin with speed, no longer being gentle or tender. Diao Chan notices this and doesn't bother stopping you, enjoying this side of you. You suck her nipples while stroking, disorienting her nerves due to the unrelenting pleasure as her legs coil around your back. Lust must be contagious because her's has been reinvigorated.
"Don't stop! Don't stop fucking me! Please!" Diao Chan begs.
You continue to screw her brains out as she requests, Diao Chan's grip tightening around your entire body before you realize that she's near another climax. Deciding to up the ante, you pump as fast as your hips could move, wanting your lover to finish first before you follow right after.
Diao Chan couldn't help but scream your name. "Keep going, Yuan! Yes! Yes! Oh, God!"
She takes her hand and furiously rubs the bead of her pussy. The sight turns you on, and all that took place today was going to hit you both like an unsuspecting tidal wave. A minute later, Diao Chan was unable to stop the inevitable.
"Oh, my Gods! Ohhhhhhhh!"
Her climax covered the entirety of your manhood before spraying all over your lower body. However, you were far from done despite fatigue creeping up on your weary body.
Savagely, you force Diao Chan on all fours again and push your way back into her sweltering heat. She secretly loves you being rough as she starts to back her ass against your cock, silently telling you to pull out all the stops. Not that you need the encouragement, you smirk deviously and grab her arms to prevent her from going anywhere. Flesh slaps against flesh in an erotic display, but you can't take anymore and decide to pull out. Your lover had other plans as she grabs your cock and shoves it back inside her. She then said ravenously.
"Cum inside me," Diao Chan demands.
"What?" you question her.
"Do it. I don't care if you impregnate me. If it means harboring your child, I'll let you release inside as much as you want." Diao Chan rose up and had you hold her from behind again. "I want to feel you. Please~~. Please~~. Please~~."
Taking her word for it, you kiss on her neck but kept your thrusts quick and powerful. At this rate, you'll be having twins, perhaps three kids like you envisioned earlier.
You couldn't take anymore, the combined pleasure of Diao Chan's tight pussy and sinful body too much to resist. Biting down on her neck, your twitching cock explodes inside her womb as you groan heartily. Following that was a piercing scream that nearly causes you to go deaf. Still, you revel to hear how much Diao Chan desired you, her body shivering in pleasure.
Your beloved falls limp in your arms, prompting you to ease her into bed. She settles in as worry then clouds your head at the thought that Diao Chan just might be pregnant, which was way sooner than you anticipated.s
"Don't worry, Yuan. I won't get pregnant right now," she assures you. "If I didn't do what I did, I would've never gotten you to do it. Besides, I wasn't expecting you to be ready for another round so soon, so I had to be ready. I'll be fine."
She kisses you on the nose in reassurance. "You go to sleep. I will go shower and join you shortly, `~~."
You nod. "Okay. Goodnight."
She grabs her dress and goes to the palace bathroom while you gather your clothes, put them back on, and lay down.
All Clear! Now get back to reading, Killjoy
You lay there thinking about the day and how crazy it was. First, Yinping worrying about your safety, to meeting and help slay Dong Zhuo, killing Lu Bu, and what just transpired.
"Oh, you're still awake?" The door to your room opens, revealing Diao Chan in only a towel. "Let me in so we can snuggle."
She was already finished with her shower? That was quick. You scoot over to give her some room as she crawls into bed, laying her head on your chest. She whispers into your ear.
"You feel so warm," her whisper tingling your body. "Thank you for tonight. I love you so much~~."
"I love you too." You kiss her forehead. "Goodnight."
Diao Chan kisses you. "Goodnight, my love."
What I'm trying to say is that you, Yuan Lei, are one lucky bastard.
