Previously on Pokémon: The Lost Child, Empoleon and Sceptile were attacked by Watchog, seeking revenge for the deaths of his gang. Empoleon and Sceptile defeated him and were now off to figure out what was going on.

Empoleon and Sceptile were walking in the field, continuing to get as far away from Watchog as they could. They were reasonably sure that they had gotten far enough away that it would be difficult for Watchog to find them.

"That should be good enough," Sceptile said.

"I certainly hope so. That was way too close," Empoleon said.

"As long as we are careful, we shouldn't run into any more problems. He isn't strong enough for both of us together," Sceptile said.

"Yeah, that is true," Empoleon commented.

"Now, we need to get back to focusing on Aegislash. We need to find him," Scpetile said.

"Yeah, that is right. We have been heading in the correct direction, but where do we go from here?" Empoleon wondered.

"Maybe we should start asking around; someone here has to have seen something," Sceptile said.

Empoleon agreed to the idea, and they were off on their new mission. Empoleon and Sceptile would start going around and asking any Pokémon if they had seen an Aegislash around recently. None of the Pokémon had at all seen Aegislash around, but Empoleon and Sceptile didn't give up and kept asking.

"So, have you seen an Aegislash around recently?" Empoleon questioned a Metang, as he had done with many other Pokémon. Empoleon expected to get another no but Metang's response caught him off guard, "Yeah, I have seen one recently, I don't know if it's the one you are looking for, but he recently went into the Groudon Meadow."

"Wait really? Please take us to the place?" Sceptile asked.

"I can do that. Just follow me," Metang said.

Metang led Empoleon and Sceptile to the Groudon Meadow, which was a beautiful place full of flowers and sunlight where many Pokémon, mostly grass ones, were working on maintaining the fields. It was a spectacle for both of them, but they were not there to admire the scenery.

"Man, this place is amazing," Empoleon said.

"I have to admit that I agree," Sceptile said.

As the two entered the place, there was a Pokémon that spoke directly to them from the distance, saying, "It took you long enough to show up."

Empoleon and Sceptile looked over to the side to see that it was none other than Aegislash himself. Aegislash was just sitting there tending to the flowers all by himself, seemingly not doing anything else. It was a surreal sight for them, and Empoleon and Sceptile did not know what to even think of this. Was Aegislash planning something? Had he just given up?

Empoleon and Sceptile, almost on instinct, got into battle poses, ready to fight Aegislash. Aegislash, however, would respond to surprise both Empoleon and Sceptile, saying, "Calm down, gentlemen, there is no need for us to fight."

"You must not be the same Aegislash that we know," Sceptile said.

"Oh no, make no mistake. I am the one that you know very well," Aegislash said.

"I don't understand how you could have survived," Sceptile wondered.

"Well, you two managed to. I found out pretty quickly. I have to admit, it wasn't easy luring you two over here," Aegislash said.

"Don't dodge the question. How did you escape, Aegislash?" Sceptile demanded.

"If you must know, I always had a backup plan of putting a teleporter inside my room so that I could escape in case something went wrong," Aegislash explained.

"What do you want with us, Aegislash? The Brotherhood is done. You should be gone as well," Empoleon said.

"Look, gentlemen, I want to talk with you. I don't particularly enjoy this, but we have a common enemy, and I need your help. We can't talk here, though. We need to talk outside."

Empoleon and Sceptile were immensely skeptical, but they had nothing to go off, so they cautiously followed Aegislash as the three walked outside.

"What a beautiful day it is, gentlemen," Aegislash said. This comment was making Empoleon and Sceptile uneasy. Aegislash seemed oddly polite to them now. They couldn't tell how much it was an act, what even his motive was, basically anything.

"So we are here, Aegislash. What is it you wanted to tell us?" Sceptile asked.

Aegislash takes a deep breath before continuing to say, "That explosion that you two witnessed on the base. The one that killed The Brotherhood, my allies, my friends. That was part of a much more sinister plot behind the scenes. I have been observing the actions of my master for the longest time, and I always had the feeling that he was answering to someone else."

"Arceus," Empoleon said.

"Yes, you have already become aware of his presence. I have always felt some greater force at play driving our actions and carefully setting the stage for everything," Aegislash said.

"Honestly, though, if Arceus is the one that did that, we should thank him," Sceptile said.

"You may say that right now, but trust me, in the future, you will not be thanking him," Aegislash said.

"How do you know all of this, Aegislash?" Empoleon asked.

"This is a secret I honestly never expected to share with you two of all people. The truth is, though, that Darkrai wasn't just my boss, he was my father."

Empoleon and Sceptile were suddenly met with a massive burst of shock. Out of everything, they expected Aegislash to tell them that was one of the absolute last things they could have predicted. Sceptile's only reaction was utter disbelief: "This can't be correct; you must be pulling our legs."

"I understand why you are skeptical, but I am telling you nothing but the truth when I am saying this," Aegislash said.

"I don't understand," Empoleon said in just as much shock as Sceptile was.

"I hope I can try to explain." Before Aegislash could even finish talking, a sudden, huge earthquake interrupted him. A looming shadow approached the three, and, after the three turned around, they saw something truly horrifying.

It was a massive Pokémon, unlike anything they had seen before. It had a mostly grey body and giant black wings, but it wasn't using them to fly. It was just on the ground. It also had red stripes over its black chest.

"What in the world is that thing?" Sceptile said.

"I know that Pokémon, it is the ruler of the dissertation world, one of the gods' top killers, Giratina," Aegislash said.

Giratina didn't say anything at all, it just let out a roar so loud that Pokémon very far away could still hear it. Right after, a giant flurry of meteors came down on the trio. Aegislash saw the meteors and immediately yelled out, "He is summoning a meteor storm. Get out of the way."

Empoleon, Sceptile, and Aegislash immediately started dodging all the meteors as best as they could. Sceptile and Aegislash were mobile enough to dodge them pretty easily, but Empoleon was having trouble and ended up getting hit by one meteor.

"Are you okay, Empoleon?" Sceptile asked.

"I think I am fine," Empoleon said.

"Don't worry, Empoleon is resistant to the meteors, though it's best not to make it a habit," Aegislash said.

Giratina then summoned even more meteors and set them to land on the three.

"How are we gonna beat this thing?" Sceptile said as they were dodging the meteors.

"None of us will beat him alone. We need to work together," Aegislash said.

Empoleon started firing his ice beam at Giratina, while Sceptile was firing a dragon pulse.

"Great idea! Giratina takes more damage from those moves. I have one that can do that as well." Aegislash started firing shadow ball after shadow ball at Giratina. Despite Giratina's massive power, getting hit by three more effective moves quickly took its toll. Giratina roared and used some kind of shockwave move that pushed all three of them back, taking them out of their attacks.

"What was that thing?" Empoleon asked.

"I don't know, it is some kind of soundwave move he is creating with his roar. If we want a chance at defeating him, we need to prevent him from doing that," Aegislash said.

"I am the fastest out of all of us. I will see if I can disrupt him," Sceptile said.

Sceptile did what he said he would do and ran up to Giratina. Sceptile ran around them, distracting Giratina as he tried to fire various attacks at him. Sceptile dodged around Giratina enough that he ended up behind him. Sceptile jumped on top of Giratina and started hitting him with his leaf blades. Giratina was trying to shake Sceptile off.

"It's working now, which is our chance," Empoleon said.

Empoleon and Aegislash started firing their ice beams and shadow balls, respectively, at Giratina. Empoleon used the beams from it to push the shadow balls ahead, making them even stronger as they hit Giratina. Giratina was overwhelmed by all the hits that he was taking and could not keep up. Giratina let out a massive roar and started sinking into the ground. Sceptile jumped off of Giratina as it sank fully into the ground.

"Are you okay, Sceptile?" Empoleon asked.

"Yeah, I think I am fine," Sceptile responded.

"So, gentlemen, now you can see how much danger we are all in," Aegislash said.

"We need answers. I think it is time for us to have a little talk with Deoxys once again," Sceptile said.

"If we want to survive this, we need to work together, gentlemen," Aegislash said.

Both Empoleon and Sceptile hesitated at the idea. They both had a very negative history, and they weren't willing to forgive him. However, they both knew he was right, and they were not left with much of a choice.

"Alright, Aegislash, we will let you help us. Don't get the wrong idea, though we don't like you still," Sceptile said.

"I hate this as well, but it seems we need you," Empoleon said.

Empoleon, Sceptile, and Aegislash started venturing off in the distance, a newly formed alliance ready to stop this new threat.
