Saturday morning Azalea woke up early putting on her apron she began to decorate the cake, using her wand to write the icing she wrote. Let me guess… 17?
Smiling to herself she packed up the cake, and got into the car.
Struggling to shut the car door behind her, she slammed it with her hip. Carefully she walked to the front door, giving it a gentle nudge with her leg. It was unlocked, of course.
"Hello? Stefan?" she called as she walked into the house.
"Hello?" came an unfamiliar voice, Azalea gasped and spun to see a blonde woman looking at her. "Who's this Stefan?"
"I could say the same thing," Azalea retorted.
"Elena?"
"No, I'm not –"
"Anyway back to what I was saying. Baguettes, tacky wait stuff. All of Stefan's friends." Damon said, he turned to the red head. "And… Hello Lea, looking wonderful today."
"Burn in hell, Damon," she snapped, putting down the cake.
"Lea, you shouldn't have," he said looking at the cake. Then he laughed, the blonde woman did the same.
"I like her," the woman said grinning. "Burn in hell, Damon," she repeated.
"Yeah, well I don't want a Birthday Party –"
"A birthday party? Is that why your friend is here?" Azalea asked, gesturing to the blonde. She saw the blood bags on the table and her eyes shifted between the woman and Damon.
"Sorry, I travelled all night," she said, pulling a little face. "I'm Lexi," she said. Azalea eyes shot up.
"The famous Lexi! I've heard a lot of great things. I'm Lea." she grinned back holding out her hand. The female vampire froze.
"Oh my God! Your Azalea Potter," she crowed. "Stefan. Do you not know who this is?!" Stefan looked at the redhead curiously, she tilted her head down so he couldn't see her face.
"You know who I am? Well, don't tell that bastard," nodding to Damon. "The curiosity is the only thing keeping me alive, half the time," she said, making herself put her head back up.
"I can't smell vervain on you, why hasn't he –"
"He tried," she said glaring at him, he put his hands up in surrender. "Luckily; I can't be compelled, not properly." Azalea explained. "It's to do with something I'm guessing you know about, I can fight that too."
"Does it begin with an I?" she asked. Azalea nodded. "Cool, I've never met anyone as famous as you."
"We've danced all night with Bon Jovi," Stefan said.
"Please, this girl is in another league." Lexi snorted, making Azalea blush darker. Well this was not going to help her keep her cover, but at least it would only be these two who would know if one of them figured it out. The brothers seemed to only really know of the Muggle world.
"So, anyway. Birthday boy give me a hug," Azalea laughed, pouncing on the 162 year old vampire.
"Am I worthy to give such a famous person a hug?"
"Your totally not," Lexi smirked, crossing her arms, and leaning against the sofa.
"You're hilarious," she grumbled, as he hugged her.
"One day we will unravel the mysteries," Damon said.
"Maybe, but not today." She raised brow at him, ignoring him she turned back to Lexi.
"So, what are the plans for Stefan's birthday?"
"Damon was talking about the Grill –"
"Something low key, it's not a big birthday after all," Damon smirked, the redhead rolled her eyes. Lexi glared at him for interrupting her.
"You will get to meet our little group." Lea smirked, we have a vampire, a witch, me and… oh actually I should warn you about Elena, she is Katherines's… doppelganger..." Azalea frowned at the last word as Stefan had gone wide eyes and was waving frantically at her. Hr grimaced as she said it, Lexi's eyes however narrowed and she rounded on him.,
"Busted," Damon smirked, grabbing a bourbon from the side.
"Elena is Katherine's what?" Lexi said moving closer to him, Stefan looked between Lexi and Azalea nervously.
"Ok, she is nothing like Katherine," Stefan held up his arms defensively, realising what she had done, Lea put down the cake.
"So, um er I'm going to go, see you all at the Grill tonight. Nice to meet you." She fled the house hearing Stefan's.
"I can explain."
The redhead got ready for the party tonight, wearing a dark blue dress and a small wedged heel. Elena messaged her to say that she met Lexi when she went over to the house, and asked if she wanted a ride to the Grill tonight. The redhead thanked her and agreed, grabbing her, bag that was large enough for her wand, in this town she wasn't going to make that mistake again. She locked her door and walked over to the Gilbert house.
Once they were there, Azalea made a beeline towards the blonde vampire, Elena following her.
"Hey guys, see Stefan it's not so bad." She said gesturing around the room.
"Yeah, you can take the night of brooding your tortured soul." Lexi patted his shoulder. The two humans laughed, and Stefan just shot his friend a look.
"Brilliant, but I reckon it's time to grab a drink. You guys want anything?"
They all shook their heads and Azalea made her way over to the bar. She saw Matt stood there as the bartender gave him his drink.
"Matt, hey how has everything been going? I haven't seen you in a little while. Just know you can talk to me about anything ok, I know it must be tough with Vicki not around." She touched his arm. She hated that she had to choose her words carefully so that she didn't have to lie to him. She hated that she had been involved in Vicki's death, and a little of the cover up. The poor guy had no idea that his sister was dead.
"I'm as good as I can be," he said. "I just wish she'd call you know."
"I'm sorry, Matt." She said pulling him into a hug. She squeezed her back.
"Anyway," he said pulling away and smiling. "Enough about my messed-up family, can I get you a drink?"
"It's ok I'll get one," she smiled leaning against the bar, and looking at the guy. Hoping that the wait wouldn't be too long.
"Hey Ricky, this a friend of mine, but it on my work tab would yah," Matt called, the redhead whirled around and hit him.
"Matt no!" she protested, but he just chuckled at her.
"Hey, you have been an amazing friend. To me and to Vicki, plus you tip super well." He teased, she nudged him again, but didn't fight any more. The guy… Ricky, asked for her drink and it wasn't long before it was in her hand.
"Thanks Matt," she said.
"No problem, I'll see you later I should probably find Tyler." He said, giving her one more smile before he disappeared into the crowd of teens.
Azalea made her rounds talking to all the friends she had made in this town, she smiled at the two old friends dancing together. This was Stefan's night with his oldest friend she wasn't going to bother either of them.
Saves Lexi
Talks to the Sheriff saying Lexi is a friend of hers introduces her to Lexie.
"Sheriff this is my good friend she helped me a lot with moving over here."
Reading Damon's mind when she is supsisous.
See's his plan for Lexi
Azalea noticed the police lights outside, there seemed to be several cars… she thought that even for America that seemed like way to many to catch a bunch of teens drinking. Something wasn't right… she looked around scanning for her friends, she saw Matt carrying Caroline out. By his face she could tell that she was fine. She continued to sweep the bar, as she did so she saw two cops come inside and… it looked like… it looked like they were guarding the door… like they were stopping – her stomach dropped. There experessions they knew something was happening and they looked scared. There was nothing in the Grill that they would need to worry about prematurely… unless they knew that vampires were here.
This wasn't going to be good. She saw Liz bring in a scared looking girl, the rest of her officers around them. That meant they weren't after the Salvatore brothers… Damon wouldn't have been stupid enough to not compel someone that he fed on… unless he was leaving a trap. Trying to cover the tracks that he had been laying since he arrived in Mystic Falls. Framing another vampire for his misdeeds. Azalea scanned the bar frantically looking for Lexi, and found her talking to Damon. Azalea felt her blood boil.
Mentally cursing the vampire into oblivion she began to as calmly as possible head towards them. Trying to keep her face calm as she glanced between the girl and the two vampire's. She couldn't tip Damon off that she was on to him, she had to come up with a reason why she would need Lexi on her own away from the bar.
"Hey," Lexi grinned as she made it within a metre of the two.
"Lexi, I need you to come with me." Azalea said urgently, tugging on the blonde vampire's arm.
"Azalea what –"
"Lea –"
Keeping the calm façade going as she acted out the scene she had planned.
"I'm having a flashback, cause of my past. Come with me to the toilet help me calm down." She pretended to plead with the blonde. "I don't want to bother Stefan on his birthday. And you are the only one who knows," the redhead speed up as if she was beginning to panic again.
"Hey shh, shh, shh. Ok come on." She said gently holding the redhead, before turning back to the vampire. "We are not done," she said, stepping down from the bar the two made their way to the bathroom. Azalea allowed Lexi to gently drag her to the toilets, placing a notice-me-not charm on them. As they reached the toilets, the redhead turned on the tap and pulled Lexi into a cubicle and pulled her wand out of her bag.
"I think Damon is trying to frame you, there are cops looking for vampires out the front, they have locked the doors. There is no non-magical way out." She whispered frantically. Lexi's eyes rose as the information swept over her.
"What?"
"Hold my hand," Azalea whispered, knowing the longer they spoke the more likely that the police would come in and find them. Lexi took the petite hand. Azalea closed her eyes and turned on the spot apparating back to her back garden in the shed.
"Argh, I haven't done that in a while," Lexi gasped.
"I know it feels awful when you aren't used to it," she said softly. "Ok I need to get you inside." Azalea opened the shed door and made her way to the patio doors, she unlocked it with her key and entered.
"Lexi, come in," she whispered, Lexi walked in with a smile.
"Thank you,"
"No problem, I have to get back before anyone realises I'm gone. I don't want them to stake me." She winked. "Make yourself at home, oh I just finished sorting out the windows so you can stay as long as you like," she said smiling.
"You mean I can look out in the day," she said excitedly.
"Yep," she said grinning. Azalea closed her eyes and apparated back to the locked cubicle that she had just left, unlocked the door, took a deep breath, and reentered the party.
She saw Liz was still with the girl, as they were looking around the bar, as she looked for Stefan her eyes found his brother. The anger boiled up again and she began to make a beeline towards him.
"Hey Lea," Damon said smirking, taking her hands so he could dance with her. "Haven't seen Lexi around have you?"
Azalea struggled from his grip, glaring at him.
"You are such a tosser," she hissed to quiet for anyone but Stefan and Damon to hear. Damon frowned.
"Lea what –"
"Trying to use Lexi to cover your tracks," she hissed. "Well your plans foiled. She's safe. Sorry if I threw a spanner in your master plan Damon." She said with a smirk, she spun to go and talk to Bonnie or Elena, but a strong hand gripped the top of her arm tightly and whizzed her back round to their very furious owner.
"You did what?" he snarled quietly.
"Let her go, Damon," Stefan's voice appeared from behind her, gentler hands on her forearms.
"Stefan, go and enjoy the party, I need to have a little chat with our friend here," he said smirking at his brother.
"Let her go, Damon," Stefan said in a sterner tone.
"Damon, let her go," Elena's voice came in, Azalea turned her head to see the pretty brunette behind Stefan.
Damon let her go bumping into Stefan.
"We'll talk later," he said storming off. Azalea filled the other two in on what was happening, they all glanced at Liz and the girl, after a painful ten minutes, the police finally gave up on the idea that the vampire they were looking for was still in the Grill, and left. As soon as they did Stefan turned to Azalea.
"Lea, can I –"
"Of course. Come on." She said. "Elena can you stay here and keep an eye on stuff?"
"Of course, you two go," Elena said.
Once the two were in an isolated area, Stefan picked up the redhead and blurred to her house. As they stopped her front door opened, Lexi poked her head out. Stefan went to rush to his friend, only to be stopped at the barrier. Lexi blurred out to him and the two embraced. Stefan clutched his oldest friend tightly too him. The redhead smiled, moving past the two to go and make food and drinks for the night.
"Come in Stef, come grab a coffee. Sorry, I haven't got anything stronger in the house." She said, the two waked inside and Azalea handed Stefan a drink. "How do you like yours?" she asked the blonde vampire.
"My favourite is with nutmeg and cinnamon in black coffee."
The redhead nodded reaching on her tip toes to the spices on the shelf. Her fingers missed the rack, Stefan walked behind her and handed them to her.
"You know," he said. "Is there a point of having a step ladder if you aren't going to use it."
"Really you are going to sass me after the beautiful cake I made and saving your best friend." She arched a brow at him, he gave a small chuckle before hugging her.
"Thank you, Lea," he murmured, she squeezed him back, before pulling away. She added the spices and handed the cup to Lexi.
The three of them chatted late into the night, the two vampires decided to crash at her house, especially since the redheads windows allowed Lexi to look out into the day. It was around midnight when there was a loud bang on the front door.
"Lea! Let me in," she heard a shout from the front of the house. The three looked at each other. Damon. The redhead put her hand up for the two of them to stay, amd calmly stood up, grabbing her dressing gown. Her wand up her sleeve, invisible to the others. She was done with his bad attitude, and if she needed to confound him out of here, and into being a better person she would have to give it a shot. There was no long-term information on how spells worked against vampires. The older they were, the harder it was.
But one thing was for sure.
She wasn't putting up with any bullshit tonight.
Hello everyone! I hope you like it! I know it's a little bit of a cop out keeping Lexi alive.
BUT.
She is the best so it's ok right? Cool glad we covered that :P
See you guys next time
