Azalea apparated back to the boarding house, Damon was in the room he had left her in.

"You were supposed to stay put," he said taking a swig of bourbon.

"Yeah well, I'm not good at not helping. Speaking of, we think I may be able to open the tomb a lot easier than the channel witches. Me," she clarified when he frowned at her. "Bonnie and Sheila have agreed to be back up if it doesn't work. However we all think it should be possible. Feel like getting Katherine out tonight?"

"The others agreed?"

She nodded.

"And I'm expected to trust them –"

"No, but hopefully you trust me. I told them I would try and open the tomb, and they agreed to help. They know you aren't going to stop, Damon."

He stared at her for a long moment, finished his drink. Then walked right up to her, staring into her eyes.

"I'm trusting you, don't make me regret it," he said finally, she hugged him grinning.

"When you go with Katherine, will you write to me," she asked. "When you're not being a complete prat, I rather like you."

Damon smiled at the redhead who had wormed her way into his heart over the past few months.

"You really mean that don't you," he said, playing with a strand of her red hair, she nodded smiling at him. "Come on, we got to save Katherine,"

"Hang on, I have to get some bits and bobs from the house, a jumper for a start. Stefan is getting stuff to burn the rest. We can't have twenty odd vamps roaming the town."

"I'm driving you," he said grabbing his keys. She rolled her eyes but decided not to push it. He had been waiting to see her for a hundred and fifty years it was fair enough that he'd want to watch the person who was going to open the door. They drove in silence she could practically hear the vampires head spinning, as he thought about tonight, the excitement coming off him in waves.

As they arrived, she unbuckled and opened the car door.

"I'm still not inviting you in," she said, getting up and making her way inside. She grabbed the first jumper that Mrs Weasley had given her, stretched with a magical charm, and threw it on. Then kicking off her shoes, she got some more trailing through the woods appropriate footwear and slipped them on. She looked around the house one more time to see if she needed anything else.

"You look in a hurry,"

Her heart thumped as she leapt in the air, whirling to see her Uncle looking at her, a small frown on his face.

"It's fine, vampire drama," she sighed. "Don't wait up, I'll be fine ok."

Giving him a small wave as she opened the door, she made her way back to the car.

Damon looked at her jumper as she got back in.

"Cute," he said. She rolled her eyes, pulling the bobble from her wrist.

"Just drive," she said tying her hair into a bun.

"You got it boss,"

They parked at the party, they begun to walk through the crowd, trying not to make eye contact with anyone.

"Lea hey," Matt voice came from the side, she turned to face it. He was coming closer to us, and he was with Caroline.

"Oh my God Lea, where have you been?" Caroline asked, holding Matt's hand, the red head smirked as she realised what Caroline was trying to do.

"Long story, haven't got time to tell it," Damon said smirking tauntingly at her.

"Leave her alone Damon," she snapped, remembering everything he did to the blonde. "Sorry, Care I was busy, Bonnie, Elena and I got lost in the car. We ran out of petrol – "

"– Gas –"

"Shut up Damon, anyway no signal on our phones and this prat drives past. So now I owe him a favour."

"A favour we are going to be late for," Damon said grabbing the top of her arm and dragging her away from the teens. "You and I are going this way," he said.

"Sorry, talk to you soon," she said over her shoulder. As soon as they were out of range, she elbowed him hard in the side.

"What?"

"You know what, be nice to her. You put her through hell even if she doesn't remember it. you controlled her and fed on her."

The vampire heard her silent question.

"I didn't ever compel or make her do that. Have some faith in me."

"If I thought you had I would not be helping,"

"Fair, and now that we have established that I am not that much of a monster can we get there before one of those kids gets drunk and stumbles to the church ruins."

She rolled her eyes, but nodded.

"Actually, this will be faster."

Without warning he scooped the redhead up and with a whoosh they were above the tomb. She smacked him as he stopped.

"Warning prat!" she hissed, before noticing their audience.

"Brother, Witches, Elena," he said.

"Let's get this over with," Elena said.

"Air, earth, fire." Grams said, lighting the torches.

"Water," Bonnie said holding the tap water.

"That's it, just water from the tap?" Elena said.

"As opposed to what?" Sheila said smirking.

"I just figured it would have to be blessed or mystical or something," she said, Sheila's smirk grew as she continued prepping. Damon took out some O negative as Azalea went to help the witches.

"We're ready," Bonnie said.

"Brilliant," Azalea said looking at the door. "Well… Let's see if my way works," Azalea approached the door nervously. She was sure the vampires, heck maybe even the other humans could hear her heart thumping. She wanted to be useful.

She took a deep breath, she had this. Super simple spell a spell she had known for seven years. Used countless times, she pointed her wand at the large door.

"Alohamora."

The door swung open; she could feel the magic behind it.

"Hang on," she said as she heard gasps of excitement, not realising that a large part of it was that they were excited to see 'Harry Potter' magic. "I just opened the physical door, let me try…"

The redhead frowned concentration. The others watched in amazement as she tapped the magical barrier with her wand in several places.

"Ah I know," she muttered, she waved her wand from the top of the door to the bottom. Wordless casting one of the spells she and Hermione had studied in preparation for the Horcrux hunt.

As she felt the magic drop, she turned and grinned to the people behind her.

"Done,"

"That was extraordinary," Sheila said to the young witch.

"You're telling me, I could have just asked you to do that at any time." Damon scowled slightly, looking at his friend in amusement.

"I'm just going to get the gasoline," Stefan said to Elena as Damon blurred behind Azalea, wrapping his arm around her waist.

"What are you doing?" she asked puzzled.

"Not going in alone," he said.

"Don't take her in. I'll bring the walls down." Sheila threatened.

"If I don't you'll bring the walls down, you think I trust you?" he said coldly.

"About as much as I trust you," she replied just as icily.

"Look I don't mind, he won't let them hurt me, or I will kick his arse. Debating it now for not consulting with me, I wouldn't have minded." She said; he smirked at her.

"May I?" he said his tone slightly sarcastic, taking one of the flame torches. Once they went inside Azalea clutched herself closer to the raven head who was searching for his lover. Azalea took out the torch she had in her pocket and began to shine it around too. There were sounds of groaning all around them.

"They can sense you," he said feeling the redhead's distress. "You're delicious, and they can smell it."

"Yeah, not the time to bring that day up, Damon," she said scowling at him, she saw a corpse behind him and yelped.

"Shh, shh, it's alright." He said comfortingly. "Stay here, don't move, I won't be long." He said then he was gone.

"Hello," said another voice, Azalea whizzed around to see a girl behind her, Anna the girl Jeremy had been hanging out with. "Wow, you smell really good," she said, Azalea gasped moving away, Anna spotted a familiar looking body behind the redhead.

"Mother," she said breathy, she looked back at Azalea. "Mind giving a few pints."

"No! Get off me! Damon! Damon help!" she cried as Anna bit into her wrist and holding it to her mother. Pearl began to drink.

"Stop!" she heard Stefan shout, shoving Anna away from the small witch and blurring her to the entrance.

Azalea stumbled forward, Bonnie reached for her friend, taking her weight.

"Hey, I got you," she said keeping her upright.

"Where's Elena?" Azalea mumbled.

"She's fine, don't worry, child," Sheila, aided her granddaughter. "Let's sit you down."

The two witches lowered her to the floor. Stefan bit his wrist, but she pushed the vampire away.

"I don't want it," she mumbled. Stefan's wound healed, he looked at his friend anxiously. She had lost a lot of blood.

"You guys go get Jeremy, take him back to Elena's house. We'll get Katherine and set fire to the others.

The two witches looked at her nervously.

"I'll be fine," she smiled. "Stefan can take me home. Elena you go with them."

The brunette opened her mouth to protest, but Azalea put her hand on her shoulder.

"I'm fine, go help Jeremy."

The brunette frowned at her for a moment.

"Ok, but text me as soon as you are home." She said giving the redhead a hug, and making her way up with the two channel witches. Azalea smiled reassuringly as all three looked at her in concern.

As soon as they were out of sight, the redhead sighed, resting her head against her knee. In a blink of an eye she felt Stefan's gentle hands, his concerned face above her.

"I'm fine Stefan," she said smiling, she pointed to the metal tubes. "Get the fire stuff ready… do you think Katherine's on her feet yet?"

"I don't know he said, before he turned his eyes to the entrance of the tomb, moments later Anna was holding someone up through the door. Azalea couldn't believe how much difference there was in the woman's face from the pint of blood they had stolen from her. Anna looked at the two anxiously.

"I just wany my mother," she said. Azalea felt her heart tug, if there was anyway that her own mother could be here, she would do pretty much anything to get her back. She couldn't blame the vampire for the lengths she had gone through, and to her knowledge she hadn't hurt as many people as her friend who was still inside.

The two of them let the reunited women past, both watching the door in silence, before they heard a hurt and rageful cry.

"Go," she said to Stefan who was looking between her and the entrance. He did. Azalea counted in her head waiting for the group to come through the tomb door entrance.

Then after she had counted to three hundred and thirty-seven. The brothers appeared, Damon's face distraught.

His eyes met hers, she could see the water in them as he fought back his emotions. Her stomach turned to lead as she realised that the older vampire had tricked them.

Katherine had never been in the tomb, her face softened as she tried to stand. Damon blurred to her keeping a hand on her shoulder. He checked her wound and bit his wrist.

She scrunched up her face, trying to tug his hand from his mouth.

"No," she said sternly, then in a much more gentle tone. "I'm sorry Damon."

Azalea felt her eyes burn as she pulled him into a hug. He didn't respond for a long moment, then he pulled himself away.

"If you are going to turn your nose up at vampire blood maybe we should take you to a hospital."

"I don't bloody think so," she scowled at him. "Though a ride home would be appriceated, I have healing supplies there. Damon –"

"Not now, ok," he said to his friend, they looked into each other's eyes for a moment, both testing the others determination. The redhead nodded in defeat.

"Tomorrow, you can't bottle it."

"I won't, but my favourite book character needs to be taken care of."

She smacked his arm, and he laughed softly.

"Can I pick you up?"

"I'm –"

"Either you let me pick you up, or my patience and respectful manner of allowing you to refuse my blood will be revoked. You pick."

She scowled at him, but manovered her arms around his neck.

"Now, see was that so hard." He said, as she scooped her up, getting back to his feet.

"Not so fast," she gasped, but it was too late. The vampire had risen too quickly for the redhead to be able to keep consciousness, as her head fizzled, and her eye sight darkened.

The girl who lived fainted in the distraught vampire's arms…

"There she is."

The voice was familiar, she felt an arm around her side, and something hard on her cheek. She frowned, forcing her eyes open.

She was in a car.

Damon's car.

She looked down at the hand on her stomach to see a familiar blue ring.

"Damon –"

"Relax, I didn't feed you any blood, Stefan stopped me." he said gesturing his head to the younger vampire driving.

The redhead's memories of getting home were fuzzy, she remembered stumbling back to her home, warning Damon not to do anything stupid, and telling Stefan to stay with him. She was extremely grateful that her Uncle seemed to have gone to bed. Without changing the redhead, dropped some dittany on her neck, and on top of the covers let a deep sleep find her…

Woof what a week this has been. As of writing the end of this comment here I am going to hope that with only needing one more State that the mouldy orange is out, and hopefully soon in prison for at least some of his crimes. To everyone in the US, I hope you and your loved ones are safe, and know that most of the world is with you and watching in horror.

Anyway!

What do we think? I wanted to show off the differences between the two types of magic, more of that will happen later. I have a few things planned out that I hope you will all love.

See you all next time. xx
