Azalea had given a couple of pints of blood to help Stefan with his cravings. She promised him she wouldn't leave until Damon came home. She suggested they do something they both enjoyed, and ended up cooking in the kitchen. It wasn't until around midnight, that Stefan informed her that his brother was home. As he did so, Damon walked into the kitchen.

He leaned against the door looking at the array of cookware.

"You've been busy," he said. "Am I on wash up?"

Azalea rolled her eyes, before putting on the oven gloves to place the crumble in the oven.

"What happened after we left?" Stefan asked, sensing his brother's mood and knowing that he needed to tell them something.

"Bourbon first, then the bad news,"

"Great," Azalea mumbled sarcastically, making her way into the sitting room. The two sat down as Damon poured himself and Stefan a bourbon.

"So," he said taking a long drink. "Uncle John knows a lot more than we thought,"

"Other than Lea's past?" Stefan asked, as the redhead had caught him up, while they had been cooking.

"Yeah. Turns out, that John knows Isabel, knows who we are," Damon gestured to him and Stefan with his glass. "And turns out those ugly ass rings that he and Ric have bring them back

to life from a supernatural death."

"What?" Azalea said, sitting up straighter at the sound of her uncle's name.

"Yeah, so any death where a supernatural is at fault. They come back."

"And you know this how?" Stefan said frowning, knowing his brother too well.

"I may have twisted his neck and –"

"Damon," Azalea said sharply.

"Relax Mom." He said pulling a face at her. "Point is those rings have some kind of magic in them, Emily said she spelled a lot of his inventions into working."

"Speaking of spells, I have a lesson with Sheila and Bonnie in the morning, so I need to head back. I will see you both tomorrow."

She spun and with a CRACK she disappeared back to her own home.

The next day after her lesson with Sheila, Elena knocked on her door for them to both head to the Salvatore house. Following Elena to her chair, the redhead got in the passenger seat.

"Ready?" she asked putting her seatbelt on.

"Sure," The redhead followed suit.

"I wanted to say thank you for helping Stefan get away from the party, I know he is struggling with everything right now."

"Of course, I am happy to help him with this,"

"How'd it go with Bonnie and her Grams."

"Argh it feels so different it is hard to separate what feels normal and focus on the magic around me. It isn't something we are taught at all. Sheila told me to stop carrying my wand around for a few days, see if I can get the hang of it more without the option to fall back on core magic."

"Is that a good idea?" Elena said, turning a corner.

"That's what I said." Azalea laughed once. "But, with all the tomb vampires gone now, I reckon it is probably the safest time to try."

"I guess," Elena said, she pulled up onto the road that led to the Salvatore house.

The four hung out and discussed the night before and how it was handled. In the end they had agreed to cut Stefan's amount of blood bags available a day by one. Taking a blood replenish the redhead donated enough for the next few days.

After Stefan drank one, Elena suggested that they watch some movies and act like a normal friend group. Once it hit 10ish they two girls began to pack up and head back home.

The two had music on and were enjoying the comfortable silence. Azalea was looking into the trees, she always loved being near forests, she suspected it was due to the forbidden forest. A large familiar figure leaped out from the green depths onto the road.

"Stag!" Azalea yelled.

Elena turned the wheel and hit the break. The car's taillight hit the wood of the bridge. #

Both were screaming. Elena frantically trying to maintain control of the car, as it span. It jolted them both as it hit the other side of the bridge. Elena's head bounced of the window, her arms going limp. The car continued to spin. They was thrown over the side. As they hit the water, Azalea's head collided with the dashboard, and she too fell into darkness…

Cold.

Wet.

Why was she in so much pain?

The stag. The bridge. Elena!

Azalea opened her eyes gasping, she and Elena were still in the car, which was filling with water rapidly.

The redhead tried to unbuckle her belt. But it was jabbed.

She tried Elena's.

Yes.

"Elena! Elena!" she shouted repeatedly shaking her friend. She frantically started to look for a phone. Elena's was attached to the dashboard. She yanked it off and called Stefan.

"Hello?"
"Stefan! We crashed! We crashed, were in the water."

"What bridge?" he said seriously.

"Wickery, Elena's still unconscious, but she's breathing."

"I'm on my way,"

The water had risen to Azalea's chin, she turned to see Elena's collar bone was under the water. Her hair dancing above the surface. It wasn't til then she paid more attention to the colour of the water was it turning pink?

She looked around to see it was darker on her side. Taking a deep breath, she put her face under the water to check herself over, as she leaned forward the blood got deeper, the pain in her lower back made itself known. She leaned back again trying to keep her head as high as possible.

"Elena!" she cried again, spitting the water her mouth.

Stefan appeared; his eyes began to change as his fangs grew.

"Take her." The redhead told him. "I have – cough – something in my back – cough – I can't – go!" she gestured. Stefan broke Elena's car door off and picked her up, taking them to the surface.

The water was getting a deeper and deeper shade of red, and the pain was getting duller and duller.

It went dark and the pain disappeared…

It was bright through her eyelids. Azalea opened them to see a very familiar sights. The bright clean version of platform nine and three quarters. This time however, she was fully clothed, and there were a large group of familiar faces on the other side of the platform.

She rushed to them, running to her parents first.

"Mum! Dad!" she cried launching into their arms. The three hugged each other tightly.

"Azalea," her mum said holding her close.

"So I'm on," Azalea said when they finally all pulled apart.

"Yes, and no," Sirius said, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Sirius!" she hugged him too. "What do you mean?" she said as she pulled away moving onto Hermione.

"It's a little more complicated than that," her genius friend said as they pulled apart.

She frowned looking at all of her loved ones, and Snape! How long was he here for?

"But I died… I was bleeding… I bled out right?" she said touching the part of her back she had been in pain before.

"I risked my life for seventeen years, and your pampered reckless little head couldn't even last one." Snape sneered; Lily elbowed him, scowling.

"You go back, Lea," James said softly. She tilted her head, then shook it.

"No, Voldemort is dead, the charm that kept me alive is gone – I –"

"When Bellatrix destroyed the deathly hallows, she secured the qualities of the master of death in you." Hermione explained gently.

"What do you mean?"

"You can't die," Sirius said gently. "Not permanently anyway, you'll always go back."

"But that means… That meant I can't… I can't be with… No! No! It can't. It can't. Because… because – that's not fair!" she burst into tears. "I want to join you someday."

Hermione and Lily held her tightly. Tears falling from their own faces.

"As you learn more about your abilities, you'll be able to see us. This isn't goodbye forever," Hermione promised.

They all cried together for what felt like an hour before. Hermione pulled away, wiping her eyes.

"You should be able to control it, work through it." She told her. "The possibilities are endless, there has never been anyone who has had this before."

"Go back Sweetheart," Lily touched her daughter's face.

"We are all still here when you need us," James wrapped his arm around his wife, and squeezing his daughter's hand.

"I can choose how long I stay?"

"We don't know," Remus said softly.

"Well, I reckon I should hug as many of you as I can," she said, going from person to person. Holding them close, before moving to the next person. Hermione, Remus, Ron, Fred, George, one by one she hugged everyone who was there that she loved.

"I'll figure this out," she promised as she hugged her parents again. Holding them both tightly.

"We know you will," James said kissing her forehead.

"It's time Sweetheart," Lily said touching her face. Azalea took a deep breath, then stepped back from her loved ones.

They began to fade, so did the light.

Then they were gone.

There was a painful feeling in Azalea's chest.

It reminded her of when she was beaten up but Dudley and his gang.

"Come on Lightning, don't die on me," she could hear Damon's voice as hands were pressing hard on her chest. Water rose up her throat as a mouth clamped on hers. She gasped coughing up all the water, rolling over to expel it. Before she could get her breathe back Damon had swooped her into a tight hug onto his lap.

"Thank God, what hurts? Can you breathe? Come on, Lightning talk to me." he said anxiously.

"You have a habit of saving me, don't you?" She said, between coughs, then she groaned.

"What? What hurts?" he said biting his wrist.

"Get off, you lunatic, I was just going to make a joke." She said pushing his arm away, he ignored her and presses his bloody wrist in her mouth. She protested as she felt the pain subside, in her chest, but her back seemed like it had already healed.

"Why did you tell him to save Elena first?" he demanded, his blue eyes furious.

"She hit her head, she was unconscious, she would drown, if I had my wand sure, I didn't have my wand,"

"Shh, get it all out," he said gently. "And can you start carrying that thing with you everywhere again."

"Sheila says to learn channel magic, I can't be tempted by core."

"You are a danger magnet who needs to protect themselves daily, forget what Grandma witch said."

She nodded, resting her head tiredly on the vampire.

The brothers took the girls back to their home to keep an eye on them. Azalea told them she'd repair the car in the morning, so the two girls told their guardians they were staying at the Salvatore home. The redhead was quiet, her mind whirling with all the new information she had been given.

"You can't die. Not permanently anyway, you'll always go back."

"When Bellatrix destroyed the deathly hallows, she secured the qualities of the master of death in you."

They go into the house, and Damon pours them all a drink, she was only half listening then Damon's toast pierced her foggy mind.

"And she defeats death again,"

Then she burst into tears, alarmed the group huddled around her. They comforted her until she was able to tell them everything she has learnt.

"I am so sorry Lea," Elena squeezed her hand, she couldn't imagine never being able to see her parents again. She glanced at Stefan. It was one of the reasons she never wanted to be a vampire.

The group mulled over the information, taking sips of their drinks, sitting in silence. After 10 minutes or so, Damon couldn't take it anymore.

"What was the joke?" he asked.

"What?" Azalea asked, wiping her cheeks of what was left of her tears.

"By the water you mentioned a joke," he said.

"Oh, yeah, er. Trust my first kiss to be the kiss of life," she said.

"Really?" Stefan said surprised.

"Not funny," Damon scowled.

"Careful Damon your humanity is showing," she said smirking at him.

"Shut up," he said, she laughed. "Don't make me regret liking you."

"We wouldn't want that," Stefan said sarcastically, he looked at the two girls and they all snorted.

"It's getting late, I am getting pretty tired," Elena said, moving to get up.

"That is a good idea," Stefan agreed.

The group headed to bed, all with questions in their minds about the mysterious Girl Who Lived.

Thank you for being patient with me, I hope you all like this chapter. What do you think about the master of death angle? I have big plans for it as we go forward.
