You think after having a date everyday for the past week would be tiring for Kazuma, which you'd be right, but at this point he'd chose to roll with it since this was his last date with his housemates till the next time he has to go out with the girls from his party.
So after coming home from work, Kazuma changed into his normal streetwear and was ready to end the night with whatever activity Curie had planned for the 2 of them.
"So where to" asked Kazuma, "Let's go grab something to munch on first, we got some time before our event starts" said Curie as she linked arms with Kazuma as they went out to grab some smoothies.
"Mm, this is good" said Kazuma as he and an orang and apple smoothie, while Curie had a spinach, wheat grass, beat, and turmeric smoothie.
"So Curie… what's new" asked Kazuma awkwardly since he knew her as well as Kino up until their first date, and was hoping to know more about her other than her weird friendship with Moskii, Leechi, and Yatsume.
"Nothing much, I've just been keeping the girls company at home while trying to get over my distaste for blood" said Curie as Kazuma looked at her wide eye in worriment since he feared that this day will come.
"Please don't worry, I'm only trying out the blood the government sends us little by little, you know when I have a glass of milk or when topping it off on a cheesecake that I might get" said Curie reassuringly.
"Ok, cause I've already been sucked dry since yesterday by Moskii" said Kazuma as he blushed over the entendre he unknowingly made.
"Yes, I know, the girls have been acting more aggressive since your date with Lala" said Curie as Kazuma hoped she wouldn't bring it up, since that was unnecessary drama, and yet who knows maybe he'll get sucked by Curie later on if he's lucky.
"Honestly it really changes the field for all of us, especially those who want to take it slow and achieve something real" said Curie with a blush as Kazuma was taken aback a little.
"I mean… no one is pressuring you right" asked Kazuma, "No, not really, at least not in a direct sense, however, I honestly came to like you for who you are Kazuma" said Curie.
"Really, cause honestly I find it hard to believe since you and I interact as much as I do with Kino" said Kazuma, "It's not your fault, really I'm literally a night person, and while I'm not interested in videogames like you and Lala, I sometimes hope you may come out your room for the 2 of us to hang out" said Curie.
"And do what" asked Kazuma, "You know, have a late night snack, watch a classic drama or stream an epic rock opera, but I don't wish to be loud and disturb anyone else at home during those late night hours" said Curie.
Who'd have thunk she was full of consideration, in spite of our rambunctious attitudes throughout the day, thought Kazuma as he was slowly finding himself impressed with Curie.
"Look Curie, if you want maybe every Friday night we can stay up together and I don't know, maybe go to a club or whatever with Centorea and Rachnee since those 2 live for the night life, or whatever late night activity you like, just keep in mind I don't plan to get shit faced drunk again any time soon" said Kazuma jokingly.
"Sounds like a date to be looking forward to" said Curie with a smile as she took another sip of her smoothie before realizing the time.
"Oh no, we better hurry, come on my Count, let's go" said Curie as Kazuma followed her along to whatever it was she had planned for their date.
Time Skip
As you my fellow readers know as being humble and supporting fans to whatever fandom, there's no short activities to do with your fellow fans.
While some like to take up cosplay, others like to draw fanart, and then you got those who right fanfiction, and that is before you know you get together and watch whatever movie, show, or anime that inspired, or getting in the next lobby to game, or even playing yu-gi-oh with some stranger at your local card shop.
Well it seems that in recent years, fans came together and revolutionizing a new middle ground to combine these things, and that was with the introduction of skit reenactments, based on either favorite or written fanfic's meeting cosplayers to act, and artist to draw and sell promotional items at these events.
To give a brief history, this started about 2 years ago in California at Berkley College where students from the anime club, RPG club, gamers club, and even drama club came together to give a live performance based on NarutoxRWBY crossover fanfic.
While it wasn't as big as they planned at the attending audience, the views they got once they published online sparked a new ground interests for fans to get together and have fun.
Granted it's only big in countries like the US, UK, Canada, France, and Mexico, however there is a community here in Japan that have since been slowly growing.
Which is where Curie was intending to take Kazuma out on her date as they planned to act out and sing a chapter from one of the more recently popular anime crossovers, Isekai Quintet, as it stars characters from Overlord, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Re:Zero, Rising of the Shield Hero, and How I Saved Satan's Daughter in Another World.
"What's going on here" whispered Kazuma as he was familiar with not only with the characters shown that were cosplaying, but also as if he's known these people for a long time now.
"Watch, it'll be good" whispered Curie as they saw the lights dim down before they shined on Albedo, Subaru, Demiruge on stage right, while on stage left stood Art.
"There right there, look at that tan well tinted skin, look at the killer shape he's in, look at that slightly stubbly chin, oh please, he's gay, totally gay" sang Albedo.
"I'm not about to celebrate, every trait could indicate, a totally strait expatriate, this guys not gay, I say not gay" sang Demiruge as he crossed his arms.
"That is the elephant in the room, well is it relevant to assume, that a man who wears perfume, is automatically radically fey" sang the whole cast.
"But look at that coifed and crispy locks" sang Subaru.
"Look at those silk translucent socks" sang Albedo.
"There's the eternal paradox, look what we're seeing" said Demiruge.
"What are we seeing" sang Mare
"Is he gay (Of course he's gay)" sang Demiruge and Albedo.
"Or Californian" sang Demiruge
"Oh" said the cast as soon everyone was show present with the lights shining on them.
"Gay or Californian, it's hard to guarantee, is he gay or Californian" sang the cast.
"Well, hey, don't look at me" sang Subaru
"You see they bring their kids up differently from the golden state, where they're taught to love, but not to hate" sang Viktoriya as the cast joined towards the end.
"Gay or just a cool dude, the answer could take weeks, he has a 90's attitude, yet slaps his bros on the cheeks" sang the cast.
"Oh my" said Emilia.
"Gay or Californian, a kid from the bay" sang the cast
"Depending on his mood that day, he swings either way" sang Cocytus.
"Is he gay or California, or-" sang the cast
"There, right there! Look at that emo brooding glare, look at that masculine musk and flair, he has eyes for maidens so fair, that guys not gay, I say no way" sang Ram
"That is the elephant in the room, well is it relevant to presume, that a hottie in that costume is, automatically, radically (ironically chronically) (Certainly, flirtingly) genetically, medically gay, officially gay, swishilly gay, gay, gay, gay- Damn it!" sang the cast with only 2 break lines from Subaru and Albedo as the cast witness Art blowing a kiss towards Shalltear.
"Gay or Californian" sang the cast
"So stylish and relaxed" sang Rem
"Is he gay or Californian" sang the cast
"I think his chest is waxed" sang Filo
"These millennials grow up differently, with new kinds of choice, as girls and boys, share an equal voice" sang the cast
"Gay or curious, he gives a lot of sass" sang the cast
"Definitely bi-furious" sang Demiruge
"And he has a great ass" sang Ram
"Gay or Californian, so many shades of gray" sang the cast
"But if he turns out straight, I'm free at 8 on Saturday" sang Tanya
"Is he Gay or Californian? Gay or Californian? Gay or Cal-" sang the cast
"Wait a minute, give me a chance to crack this guy, I have an idea I'd like to try" said Subaru
"The floor is yours" said Ainz.
"So, Mr. Legend, this alleged affair with Mrs. Iwasawa has been going on for" asked Subaru
"3 years" said Art
"And your birth name is" asked Subaru
"Arturo" said Art
"And your boyfriends name is" asked Subaru
"Naofumi" said Art as the whole cast and even the audience gasped in surprise or joy.
"I- I sorry! I misunderstand! You said 'boyfriend', I thought you said 'best friend', Naofumi is my best friend" said a panicked Art.
"You bastard! You selfish bastard! That's it', I cover for you no more, peoples, I have a big announcement" said Naofumi as he finally came on stage.
"This man is bi and Californian (Whoa), And neither is disgrace (oh), you gotta stop your being a completely closet case (D'oh), It's me not her he's seeing, no matter what he say, I swear he never, ever, ever, swing the other way" sang Naofumi.
"You are so gay, you big parfait, you flaming one-man cabaret" sang Naofumi.
"I'm (still) straight!" exclaimed Art
"You were not yesterday" said Naofumi with smug smile.
"So if I may, I'm proud to say, he's bi (and Californian), he's bi ( and Californian), he's bi (and Californian and bi!)" sang the whole cast along with Naofumi.
"Yes, ok, I'm bi" said Art before he finally kissed Naofumi.
"Banzai!" sang the cast before the performance finally came to an end as everyone in the crowd was clapping and cheering in joy for their new OTP, including Kazuma who is as hetero as an Isekai protag should be.
Later
After seeing a lot more similar performances like that throughout the night, along with getting some hot shit flare to support these creators, fans and growing fandoms, it was time to go home.
On their way back, Kazuma decided to treat Curie out for some spinach juice from a vending machine and shared some Takoyaki with her as they sat near a park bench.
"Yeah, I think I'm just gonna have to call in sick today" said Kazuma as he realized they've been out and about since 3 a.m. in the morning, and having a good time.
"Sorry for having you to miss work on my account" said Curie, "You kidding, I say this is more than a good reason to call in sick, honestly I had a fun time tonight" said Kazuma as Curie smiled at him.
"My Count, might I ask for something selfish from you" asked Curie, "Um, sure" asked Kazuma as he thought at worst she might ask to drink his blood, at best give him a kiss.
Instead, he got Curie to snuggle up and rest her head on his shoulder as she had a smile of content on her face.
"Thanks for the great night my Count" said Curie, "Anything for you, and the girls" said Kazuma with a smile as they stayed like this for about an hour before the sun rise, where they went home and turned in for the evening.
But even then, Kazuma couldn't sleep since so much has happened to him these last 10 days give or take, he's gone out on so many dates, got to know the girls at his home a little better, and has even more dates lined up to him in the near future, and that's before he's reminded that he owns this big beautiful house to himself, has a steady paying job, and best of all he's his own truly independent man.
Yup things were finally coming up Kazuma's way and he's more than excited for whatever the future has in store from him.
All right guys, I did, I promised you I'd get the next chapter updated a lot faster than my previous updates, and I really hope you guys liked it.
I know a lot went on and was put into this chapter, so give me a minute to break it down properly as this chapter serves as a low key honor and memory to voice actor Billy Kametz, whom if you guys know passed away last month, who fun fact was a stage performer and actor for Disney, and just so happened to be the voice actor of my husbando Naofumi from the Rising of the Shield Hero, whom I did later on ship with my own character, Art Legend, in Once a NEET always a NEET.
Honestly I was actually tempted to post this chapter way before Kazuma's date with Moskii, but I was already halfway done with it, and it just didn't seem right to abandoned ship like that.
