After the call ended Andy looked troubled.

"So your parents aren't in the country? Can you still contact them?" he asked.

Goddammit! I'm just digging the hole deeper and deeper, aren't I?

"I mean, maybe? They might not be checking their phones, but I can try. I just didn't want to bother them, since they can't really fly back just like that"

"It really wouldn't be a problem if we had your files and legal emergency contacts, but for now, whoever you called won't be able to make any decisions regarding you. The most we can do is let them get you home once you get discharged" Andy explained.

It made sense, I guess, but I didn't like it. Now I would have to call mom anyway.

"I'll try calling them" I sighed.

"Do you want privacy?" Andy asked.

I nodded. Whatever I was going to tell mom would definitely be a lie, and I didn't want Andy to figure anything out.

"I'll be outside. Just yell when you're done"

Once Andy left I, very reluctantly, called mom.

She picked up almost immediately.

"Honey! Where in the world have you been?" uh oh, she sounded mad.

"I, um, I was with my friend. I decided to stay the night and forgot to call. Sorry, mom" I hoped she wouldn't be as mad if she thought I was out having a social life.

Her tone immediately changed.

"That was very irresponsible of you, Ren, but I guess I can let it slide this time. Just be sure to at least text next time" she scolded, but thankfully the anger was gone.

"I promise I will, mom"

"Good. Now, was there a reason you called?" mom asked, knowing I wasn't one to call just to say hi.

I wasn't really sure how to approach this.

"Well, my friend and I went to the skatepark, and I fell really stupidly and hurt my leg. It wasn't really that bad, I've had worse, but my friend insisted we went to the ER cause it was bleeding kind of a lot. And the hospital doesn't have any files on me, so now I have to call you to get permission to get whatever treatment I supposedly need. I think they were talking about a tetanus shot cause something might've gotten into the wound, but I'm not sure" mom let me explain everything without interrupting.

"Are you sure you aren't really hurt? We can come pick you up if you need it" mom then asked.

"Mom, I'm fine, honest. It barely hurts. I'll be out in like half an hour" I assured her.

"If you are sure. So you said you needed my permission, right?" mom moved on.

"Yeah. It should be enough if you just texted me something like 'I consent to all treatment for my son'. I used the name Robin Quinzel, by the way, so work with that" I explained.

"Will do, sweety. When can I expect you home?"

"Can I stay with my friend until tomorrow? We wanted to have a movie night" I asked.

"I suppose that's okay, but be home at least before lunch," mom said.

"Thank you! I will"

We then hung up, and a few minutes later I got the text.

Mom 1:04 pm

I consent to all treatment for my son, Robin Quinzel.

-Harleen Quinzel

Mom 1:04 pm

Is that good, sweety?

Ren 1:05 pm

Yes! Thanks!

Mom 1:05 pm

You welcome 3

"I'm done" I called.

Andy came back in.

"Did you get a response?" he asked.

"Yeah. Is this good enough?" I asked, showing him mom's text.

Andy quickly read through it.

"I suppose we can accept this, considering the circumstances"

Something then crossed my mind, and I felt ashamed for not remembering earlier.

"The kid that was brought in with me, Jason Todd, how's he?" I asked.

"You know him?" Andy asked.

I nodded.

"He's been trying to teach me how to skate.

Andy looked troubled.

"I can say that he's stable, but he's not one of my patients so I don't know much, and unfortunately until he personally wishes you to know of his condition I can't really tell you anything, as it would be a violation of privacy"

"Oh" I looked down, disappointed, and a little worried. If he hadn't yet wished to at least know if I was alright, he probably wasn't awake yet, which wasn't good.

Andy must've noticed my change in mood, as had hurried to reassure me.

"But I can talk to his nurse and make sure they let him know you're okay when he wakes up, is that alright?"

I nodded, "Yeah, thanks"

Just then there was a rapid knock on the door. I didn't even have time to say 'come in' before it opened and a very worried redhead peeked inside.

"Robin!" I was then attacked with a hug by said redhead.

Andy looked like he was about to intervene, but relaxed once I hugged back.

"Ow! Easy there" I hissed in pain, as Wally had accidentally put pressure on my wound.

Wally immediately jumped back.

"Oh my god, I'm sorry! Did I hurt you?"

I shook my head.

"No, it's fine"

Speedster number two then entered the room. Barry Allen, aka the Flash.

"Oh, Robin, this is my uncle" Wally gestured toward Barry.

Barry stuck out his hand.

"Barry Allen. Nice to meet you"

"Robin Quinzel. Nice to meet you too. And thank you for coming here. I don't know what I would've done otherwise" I accepted the handshake.

Barry smiled.

"No worries! I'm happy to help"

"Still, " I insisted, " it's not really something you do for anyone"

Barry chuckled, "With how much Wally talks about you you can consider yourself already a part of the family"

Wally immediately flushed red and tried to swat Barry's arm, while still holding on to me. He was unsuccessful as Barry easily took a step back, leaving Wally's hand swatting at the air.

Andy then cleared his throat awkwardly, catching our attention.

"I assume you know Robin, Mr.."

"Allen" Barry supplied, "Barry Allen. A pleasure to meet you"

"Likewise. My name is Andy"

Barry shook hands with Andy. He then answered Andy's initial question.

"I have spoken to Robin, but my nephew is the one who knows him"

Andy looked to me for confirmation.

"Yeah. Not really yet at the meet-the-family stage" I joked, earning a chuckle from Barry, an amused smile from Andy and a confused look from Wally who apparently hadn't understood the joke.

Andy then became serious.

"Robin, as your mother has consented to any treatment, you'll be the one to ultimately decide what you want. Of course, you're free to consult anyone and inform anyone, but the decision is yours"

"Then can you quickly tell Wally and Mr. Allen what happened, please," I said without hesitation.

"Oh, please, kid. It's Barry for you, none of the 'Mr' stuff" Barry interjected.

Good. I hated formalities anyway.

Andy then started telling the two speedsters about what happened to me.
