I slammed the front door shut, and stomped right past mom.

"Ren, what is with you today?"

"Mom, I really don't have time right now, where's dad?" I needed dad to find out where Harvey was.

As on cue dad popped his head out from the kitchen.

"Oh, you're home kid! Your mother was getting worried"

I didn't have time for their small talk.

"Dad, can you find out where Harvey Dent is, it's really urgent?" I asked.

Dad gave me a confused look but took out his phone.

"You can track a call, right?"

I nodded.

Dad pressed Harve's name and the call started. It didn't take long before Harvey answered.

"Hi, Harvey, my pal, what're you up to today"

I already had my holobracelet pulled up, tapping away. Every second of the call let me further narrow down Harvey's location.

"Aww, can't I just call for a chat?" dad was just spewing complete bullshit, and it was working.

I had narrowed it down to 7 blocks.

"Aww, but can't I just drop by and say hi?" dad was literally the only person who could pull this off. The perks of being insane I suppose.

However, I was definitely running out of time. One could only deal with dad's bullshit for so long.

I was down to around a block when I lost the connection, and dad lowered the phone, slightly offended by whatever Harvey had said.

"Did you get what you needed?" dad asked.

"Close enough, thanks dad" I started figuring out the fastest route. If I had a car it would maybe be a five-minute drive, but I was gonna have to run. I did, however, have the advantage of not being confined to the streets. If I hurried I could probably get there in about ten minutes, and then I had to add another additional five minutes for searching the area, as there was no guarantee of finding Harvey immediately.

"Are you gonna let us in on your little plan, Ren?" dad asked, looking over my shoulder at the holo screen.

"No. I'm already expecting backup anyway" I replied.

That was true. I doubted Batman would be as quick, but even if I very much did not want him near me, him finding Harvey was inevitable. He was Batman for fuck's sake. He probably had eyes everywhere. Besides, even though we were enemies, he'd hopefully still see I cared about Jason, or maybe fighting would distract him enough to not immediately beat my ass.

"Just don't do anything stupid, honey" mom warned.

"Not gonna promise anything" I replied, hurrying to my room to change into my suit.

I decided to try to reinforce my bandages with some sports tape. Probably not the best solution but I was in a hurry.

My wound ached in protest at the skintight fabric of my suit, but it wasn't too bad. Besides, I was sort of counting on adrenaline masking the pain.

I struggled to tighten the straps correctly, which concerned me. My fighting abilities would definitely be worse than I initially expected. But that's what guns are for.

Speaking of, I opened a drawer in my desk, filled to the brim with neatly organized ammo, and grabbed four mags, one to load my gun with and three extra.

I picked up my gun from my desk and took out the almost empty mag, replacing it with a full one. I made sure I had at least two knives on me, secured my grappling hook in its holster, and finally, put on my mask.

I was now pretty sure I had everything.

"I'll be gone for like an hour or two. After that, you can start to worry" I said while putting on my shoes, tying the laces.

"Ren, please tell me where you're go-"

I was already out the door.

I pulled up the screen on my holo bracelet. Harley's location was a blinking yellow dot on my map, while mine was a purple arrow.

I began running towards the dot, prepared to at any moment rethink my path in case of an unexpected obstacle. I was also keeping an eye out for any easy convenient paths to the rooftops, but no luck so far.

People around me moved out of the way, some pointing at me, some turning and running away. Not a surprise. I had made quite a ruckus at Wayne's party, and not dealing with a crowd was highly appreciated at the moment. God, that party felt forever ago. So much had happened since.

Someone yelled at me to stop and put my hands up, probably a cop. I ignored them, instead, locating a fire escape, quickly scaling it with a little help from my grappling hook. From there, I checked my map and continued my path, but now across the rooftops.

Every time I landed, it felt like a punch in my side. I tried to dampen the impact but it barely helped. I'd definitely need the adrenaline once the time came to fight.

I was now about three blocks away. Just a few more minutes.

As I closed in I noticed a lack of cars and people. Maybe Harvey and his men had scared everyone away. This was definitely the right way though.

I kept running.

My holobracelet beeped, signaling I'd arrived at my destination.

There were three buildings inside the area I'd narrowed it down to. One of them was already out of the question, as the roof had caved in and was unusable.

I made my way down from the roof and ran towards one of the other buildings. The door was closed, but not locked. Inside was nothing. It was just an empty warehouse.

The other building it was then.

I made my way over to it, grappling up onto the roof. The metal sheets making up the roof were uneven, and some were missing, the perfect way to sneak in.

First I had to scout out the area. I carefully sneaked across the roof to one of the openings and looked down into the building.

Henchmen were roaming the floor, at least twenty of them, I assumed they were all armed.

Harvey was nowhere in sight, but surrounded by four men was Jason, chained to a pillar, a piece of cloth gagging him.

At least I knew this was the right place. Now, how the fuck did I go about saving Jason.

I could make a sound outside the door and lure some of the men outside, but then the people still inside would be on high alert.

A better idea would probably be to shoot the men around Jason first, putting a bit more space between him and them, while at the same time creating confusion. Once they were gone I could also jump down and take their guns, and I wouldn't have to waste my own bullets.

I couldn't think of a better idea, so I aimed my gun at one of the men and fired.

It was a clean headshot, the man dropped to the floor. The next three quickly received their own share of bullets to the head before the rest of the room realized where the shots came from and I had way too many guns pointed in my direction.

Uh oh.

I rolled to the side, making myself comfortable on the ledge of the roof, watching as bullets burst through the spot I'd just been in.

And now we waited.

It wasn't more than maybe half a minute until the gunfire ceased, and I heard the clicking of magazines being taken out. Now was my time.

I returned to the opening and jumped, using my grappling hook to dampen the landing. I picked up two of the guns from the floor, they were a bit sticky with blood, gross.

And I let loose.

Bullets flew through the room in all directions. I moved to the side, far away from Jason so no stray bullet would hit him. I used the industrial interior to my advantage, hiding behind pillars, swinging heavy chains at the men, using scrap metal as a shield.

One after one the men crumbled to the ground.

Then a strange burning sensation began spreading in my leg, and my leg gave up, sending me to the floor.

Fuck.

Not good, not good, not good at all.

Someone managed to hit me.

I rolled behind a pillar and took a quick look at the damage.

The bullet appeared to still be inside, which was good. That way it wouldn't bleed as much. I did worry it would make it more difficult to move, but I really had no choice. This was a life or death situation.

I took a deep breath, checked my bullets, and stood up.

Okay, let's do this shit.
