Short seventeen: Zuma's Baby Sister
Zuma was coming back to the Lookout from the hospital with Gabe and Celeste walking with him. In Zuma's arms was a newborn female Chocolate Labrador in a high quality blanket that kept her from getting cold. Celeste and Gabe smiled at each other lovingly while holding hands, glad that they could bring a new spirit into the world. Zuma saw his friends playing in the Lookout's yard and ran over to them, being careful not to drop his new baby sisters. "Guys! we're back!"
Rocky was the first to greet Zuma after he ran over to the group, kissing his cheek lovingly before he pointed out the baby he was holding. "Welcome back sweetheart. I see you're already holding your new sibling."
"Sure am. Isn't she the most pwecious thing?" Zuma asked, and then he noticed that Chase's butt was pointing out of the top of a snowman Skye and Marshall were building. He couldn't help laughing as he asked about it. "Why is Chase's butt weplacing that snowman's head?"
Rocky shrugged in response, and Flare walked up to Zuma with excitement to ask if he could hold the baby. "She's adorable Zuma! Can I hold her?"
Zuma was hesitant, making it clear how protective he was of his sister. "Well..." Just then, Chase released...
PFFFFFFFFFFT
...a ripe and loud five second fart from his vibrating rear end, unleashing a yellow cloud of rotten eggs that caused the snowman to melt. This awoke Zuma's sister with as Chase descended to the ground with some of the others gagging from the fart scent and covering their noses. His butt was pointed up into the air as well when he reached the ground. As he got back up, he walked over to Zuma with the others, who all wanted to see the new baby. "Sorry if that woke your new sister up. What's her name anyway?"
Now that everyone got a good look at the baby, Zuma was more than happy to share her name. "Evewyone, say hello to Melody. The newest member of the Thowne family."
Melody was still adjusting to the new world, but she still had a bright and happy smile that made Skye coo. "Awww, she's so cuuute."
"Cute as a button as they say." Celeste chimed in happily, having no regrets about having this child. And neither did Gabe.
"Zuma insisted he carry her over to you guys, and I think the reason why is obvious." Gabe informed the others. And the reason, was in fact, obvious.
Zuma then admitted to something regarding Melody that he hoped the others would understand. "I'm kinda wowwied about letting anyone outside of the family hold her. I can bawely keep myself fwom panicking about dwopping her myself."
Rocky found a loophole to this and made an offer to carry Melody himself. "Does that mean you'll let ME hold her?" Zuma saw what Rocky did there and allowed him to hold Melody, despite how clearly anxious he was about it. Rocky seemed to know what he was doing, and told the others about why that was. "I did some research on how to watch over kids in case I was ever tasked with watching over her by myself."
Flare was disappointed about how he couldn't hold Melody yet, and Marshall put a paw on his shoulder to comfort him. "Sorry buddy. Looks like your turn is gonna be on hold for now." Everest and Flare laughed at the pun with the other pups being ready to call him out on it.
"Marshall!"
The other pups laughed in response with Chase expressing how happy he was that Zuma had his family back. His tone was a bit somber though. "It must be amazing to have a growing family Zuma."
Skye could tell that part of that was given due to Chase never experiencing a true blood family himself. She held his paw gently to let him know that it was still possible for him. "Maybe we can experience that too. When we're all older, that'll be up to us." Chase smiled in response to that, and Skye then informed him about another thing. "Obviously, I'm not ready to get married yet. But when we do tie the knot, a family is one of many things I hope for."
Chase felt his spirits elevated thanks to that, and put his other paw on top of Skye's as he showed it. "Then I'll do everything I can to stick by them. You can count on it Skye."
Zuma decided to show Melody inside the Lookout, looking to Rocky to see if he was up for that. "Hey Wocky. You wanna show Melody awound the Lookout with me and my pawents?"
"Of course!" Rocky answered ecstatically, being excited to be a big part of Melody's life. "I hope she likes the new crib I made her."
Celeste assured the others that the four of them would be back out as they walked off with Melody. "We'll be back out soon! Don't let the fun stop now!"
Rocky and Zuma entered the Lookout with Celeste and Gabe, and Rocky looked at Melody again with glee as they started showing her around. "This is where your brother's been living Melody. You'll be here a lot when it's the two of you."
"That's wight." Zuma signaled Rocky to let him hold Melody again, which he obliged to, knowing he would want that sooner or later. "And this time, I'm gonna make sure mom and dad don't get awwested by some jewk cops who want a pwomotion." Melody giggled a bit, showing that she was a happy little puppy. Rocky could tell that Zuma's love for Melody, and his urge to protect her, were more than genuine.
