The sounds of people talking made me jerk my head back, my eyes widening at the sudden fear of being caught. Once he saw me staring at the door Lionel chuckled.
"Relax, Lisa. No one can see me except you right now." Lionel commented and I breathed out, relaxing for long enough for the shame wizard to rest his hand on mine. "Now I believe I was about to kiss you." He added and I found myself blushing as he leaned in close. We were almost touching when Lionel froze, his attention moving to the door and I groaned raising my eyebrow at him when his attention wavered.
"Like you said no one can see you unless you want them to, Lionel so what's the problem?" I grumbled and he gently grasped my chin turning my head enough to see just who had walked into the gym. Once I saw them I swallowed, wondering how I'd be able to hide the fact that I was alone in the gym with Lionel from Connie and Maury.
Thankfully they were deep in conversation and hadn't noticed us but I knew it wouldn't take too long before they saw us sitting together. "Crap what are we going to do?" I whispered, Lionel, chuckling softly when I kept glancing at the two hormone monsters and Lionel.
"Lionel, you are not helping." I hissed at him and he gave me a faint smile, looking toward the wall. To my shock, I saw a weird glowing doorway open up behind the bleachers and when I blinked Lionel gently took my hand in his.
"Just take a deep breath." He told me, not giving me a chance to respond as he pulled me to my feet. Finding myself dangling several feet off the floor I yelped, a hand clamped over my hand seconds later before Lionel flew over to the weird glowing hole. A short trip later Lionel appeared with one arm wrapped around my waist slowly landing on the carpet before he remembered that he still had a hand clamped over my mouth.
"Oh yes. I did forget all about that didn't I?" He commented, having been wondering why I hadn't spoken a single word. After he removed his hand from my mouth I blinked up at him, confused and he shrugged.
"How did you do that?" I breathed and Lionel smiled at me, his arm still wrapped around my waist before he waved his hand toward the glowing portal in front of me. As soon as it vanished I sighed, looking around before I noticed just where Lionel had teleported us to. "So you brought us back to my apartment? Quick thinking, Lionel but why my bedroom of all places?"
"I thought you would be a little more grateful that Connie and Maurice didn't find out about us," Lionel complained, relaxing his grip on my waist before he crossed his arms.
"No I am grateful, Lionel but I was just shocked you could do something so...cool," I told him and he finally nodded, looking a little more pleased as he flew a quick circle around me before he flew over to my bedside table. "Is that something all Shame Wizards can do or just you?"
"Oh, all Shame Wizards can create portals between Earth and our world. Basically, everyone from Human Resources can do that." Lionel explained, picking up my alarm clock and as he fiddled with it I wandered over. "Hopefully no one noticed you just disappeared." He added as an afterthought and I pressed a hand to my forehead, getting Lionel's attention which involved him smirking at me.
"I hadn't even thought of that. But I guess it's too late now." I muttered and he chuckled softly, setting down the clock before he examined the small snow globe resting on the table. Watching him turn it over before he shook it, I found myself with a tiny smile that matched his own as he stared at the fake snow. "I got that from my parents after the accident," I explained and Lionel turned around as I walked over.
"Maybe I should put it back," Lionel said, setting it down so carefully I managed a weak laugh. "Is there something funny?" He asked and I shrugged, lightly touching his fingers before he had a chance to release the snow globe.
"You're so serious I thought it would be funny to make you nervous," I explained, a faint smile curling my lips as his two pale cheeks turned a faint pink. "For the record, I bought that during my last trip into the city," I told him and he snorted, trying and failing to act annoyed with me.
"You really had me going there, Miss May." Lionel chuckled and I grinned, yelping when he turned me around by my shoulders. With my chest pressed to his chest I couldn't stop my face from heating up before I shifted back slightly fixing him with two slightly wide eyes and my lips pressed together.
"That was the plan. Now that you've got me where you want me what are you going to do?" I asked him, genuinely amused when he cleared his throat unable to look me in the eyes as I giggled. "Were you planning on rescuing me from Connie and Maury?"
"Truthfully I just didn't want them to get the wrong idea about us, Lisa," Lionel answered and I rolled my eyes, tempted to push his arms away from my waist though when he cleared his throat a second time I glanced up at him. "I didn't mean that the way it sounded, Lisa. You know I do like you, more than I thought I'd like a human, but this will never work."
"Then why haven't you released me yet?" I pointed out and Lionel looked down, looking surprised and I snorted at him this time liking the way he eventually smirked at me and the shade of pink his cheeks had turned. "So you really don't want to take your own advice do you?"
"You're making it very difficult on me, Lisa when you're this close to me," Lionel admitted as he stared down at me, both eyebrows narrowed slightly. "Though I believe that fault may lie with me."
"So we both agree?" I asked and when Lionel nodded I giggled. "Alright so then that means we have two options. The first is that you could release me. The second might be that…" I never finished when he leaned in enough to kiss me. The shock I felt was very brief before I draped both arms around his back kissing him back just as hard.
When we broke apart I bit back the urge to laugh at the goofy smile that the Shame Wizard had plastered across his face. Once he finally noticed me trying hard not to laugh he rolled his eyes at me, fixing me with a raised eyebrow. "You do realize I can tell that you're laughing at me right now, Miss May?" He pointed out and I coughed, shaking my head but Lionel chuckled at me knowing exactly what I was trying not to do.
"You just looked so cute when you had that goofy smile on your face. I couldn't help it." I admitted and Lionel blinked, both eyebrows raised at me as I tried to hide my smile with an open palm. "Never seen you look so...sweet."
"A goofy smile? What are you talking about?" Lionel asked, confused and I sighed lightly patting his arm before I uncovered my mouth. "Never mind I'm sure I really don't want to know."
"Don't act so offended, Lionel. I meant it as a compliment and not an insult. Now come on, let me give you the grand tour." I replied, taking him by the hand and as I practically dragged him out of my bedroom I didn't catch the faintest hint of a smile coming from the shame wizard.
