Hey, everybody. At last, the Terran Alliance story covering The Mandalorian is here.
So, this chapter will be a bit shorter, and will be set over the course of several episodes of Season 1. Then, next chapter will begin during Season 2. After the events of Season 2, I'll be going into an original plotline, based off what we know or is rumored about Season 3. We'll get to the end of the events of Season 2 probably around Chapter 7 or 8. After that, it's into my own territory. There will be a number of changes obviously, given how I've written the Terran Alliance series so far. Also, I will confirm Ahsoka will still be showing up, as will Bo-Katan and her Mandalorians, though the story of what they're doing will be changed somewhat. Also, I'm going to give one small spoiler and say that Thrawn will make at least one appearance in this, though in more of a supporting role than anything.
Let's get to it.
Chapter 1- The Hunt
(April 28, 2024)
The sun has long since set over the sands of Tatooine. The temperature has been dropping, and it is now very cold.
In an area beyond the dune sea, near some rocky hills, Fennec Shand lies on the sand. Having been shot by Toro Callican almost a full day prior, she has been on the verge of death ever since. Now, with the temperatures out on the sands plummeting, she is closer to death than ever.
However, as her heartbeat slows, her strength dwindling, the sand begins to crunch under bootsteps. Boots that belong to the famed bounty hunter Boba Fett. Fett walks up to Shand and kneels down beside her, examining the wound in her stomach, a plan already forming in his mind.
Unknown to Fett, about 2 miles away, from behind a ridge, a figure is watching him through a pair of binocks. The figure zooms in close enough to make out his face. After several moments, he mutters to himself, "Well, well, you're alive after all, Fett. The question is what are you up to?" The figure keeps watching for a few more moments before lowering the binocks and walking away, disappearing into the darkness.
(May 2, 2024, Dilestri System)
Aboard the New Republic Correctional Transport known as Bothan-Five, several New Republic officers are going through the ship, looking for evidence of what happened aboard the ship in the recent breakout attempt.
New Republic officers had been confused by what had happened. A prisoner, who was seemingly the target of the breakout attempt, was missing, but three of the individuals involved in the breakout attempt had been found in a cell on the ship.
As several officers as making a damage assessment throughout the ship, unknown to them, a figure makes its way through the halls of the ship, headed towards the bridge. Reaching the bridge, which is currently occupied by only one person, the figure stops, looking around. The New Republic officer sees them, recognizing who they are, but keeps quiet, recognizing that this person is concentrated on something.
The figure slowly walks around the bridge, examining the damage from the fight that occurred there not long ago. Spotting something, the figure walks over to spot in the wall where there is a small indentation. Pulling out a pair of pliers, the figure reaches out and plucks something out of the wall. He then drops it in his hand, examining it.
"A whistling bird. He was here alright. Though why was he here?" the figure whispers to himself, to low for the New Republic officer on the bridge to understand what he is saying.
The figure looks up, puzzling over this. Finally he says to himself, "He must have had to take a job. That has to be it." He pauses, then says, "He's bringing attention to himself. He won't be able to stay hidden for long." The figure then turns and disappears out of the bridge.
(May 4, 2024, Nevarro)
It's been a matter of hours since Din Djarin and those with him cleared the village on Nevarro of Moff Gideon's Imperial forces. The handful of stormtroopers still alive have escaped the town and scattered across the rocky plains of Nevarro.
On a stretch of rocky plain several miles from the town, along the edge of a lava stream, a lone stormtrooper is making his way across the rocky landscape, trying to head back to the Imperial base far away. It's going to be a long trek back, but is his only chance.
The stormtrooper is tired, both from the fighting in the town and from the hours he's already spent hiking over the rocky landscape in the heat. He's managed to keep himself hydrated, but he's getting tired.
As he steps over a small split in the rock, the stormtrooper suddenly hears something. The sound of running footsteps over the rock. Then, before the trooper can react, someone has grabbed his arm and wrenched it behind him, restraining him, while wrapping their other arm around his front to also restrain him while pressing a knife to his throat.
The trooper freezes, stunned by the suddenness as well as the strength of the individual restraining him. Then, he hears a distinctly masculine voice say in a rather scary tone into his ear, "Here's what's going to happen. You're going to tell me what I want to know, or you're going to wish you'd died fighting the Mandalorian compared to what I'll do to you."
The trooper is quiet for a moment before he says, "Who are you?"
"I'm your worst nightmare unless you tell me what I want to know," the person restraining him says.
"Who do you think you are?" the trooper demands, trying to sound braver than he feels.
The man chuckles into the trooper's ear. "Oh, if you knew who I was from the beginning, you'd have already spilled everything. You know who I am, even if you've never met me. I'm the man who brings nightmares to guys like you," he says. The man restraining the trooper then leans in closer and whispers, "I'm Calvin Adams."
At those words, fear surges through the stormtrooper. Of course he knows that name. There's almost nobody in the Empire who doesn't know that name. Calvin Adams. The Beast. The Phantom. The White Devil. The Bane of the Empire. The man who killed several Inquisitors single handedly and defeated Darth Vader on two occasions. The man of whom it was said that he was one of the few people that the Emperor actually feared. The man who tore through any enemy that faced him without mercy. Many within the Empire had begun to believe that he was superhuman and enhanced in some way. It was said that he could appear out of nowhere, like a thief in the night, bringing with him death and chaos. So many myths had sprung up among Imperials about Calvin Adams. There was no Imperial that heard the name Calvin Adams who didn't feel some fear upon hearing that name.
"Okay. I'll tell you what you want to know!" the trooper exclaims.
"Good. Tell me what Moff Gideon is doing on this planet, what he wants with the target he's pursuing, and where I can find him," Calvin demands.
"He's here because of the base here on the planet. He's been using it as a research lab, and the research being done is what he needs the target for. It's some kind of cloning project, and Gideon needs something from the target for whatever he's doing with the project. I don't know exactly where he is most of the time, but he usually operates from an Arquitens-class light cruiser," the trooper says.
"Does he still have the Darksaber?" Calvin demands.
"Yes," the trooper responds.
"How many more planets do his forces have a presence on? How big are his forces? What is his ultimate goal?" Calvin demands.
"A couple planets. I don't know exactly how many. I don't know how many forces he has overall, but he does have a small fleet and lots of troops. I don't know what his plan is. He doesn't share that with troopers like me," the trooper says
Calvin is quiet for a moment, then says, "Thank you. I hope you get off a bit easier in hell." Then, without another word, he slashes the trooper's throat open with his knife. He then lets go, and the trooper falls to the ground, blood pouring out of his neck. The trooper is dead before he hits the ground.
Calvin stares down at the trooper's course, then turns and starts making his way across the rocky plain, heading for the sight where Moff Gideon's TIE fighter crashed a few miles away. Being at peak physical shape, it doesn't take him long to get to the site.
Reaching the site of the wreckage, Calvin climbs over the wreckage of one of the wings and reaches the cockpit section. Immediately, Calvin sees what he was somewhat expecting. A massive square cut out of the side of the cockpit. The edges of the hole show clear signs of it having been cut with a lightsaber.
"So, you got out did you, Gideon?" Calvin says. He runs his hand over the edge of the hole, then turns and looks up at the sky.
"You've evaded me for 3 years, Gideon. But you won't be able to escape me much longer. Justice will come soon enough," Calvin says.
Calvin makes his way a short distance away and sits down on a boulder. He crosses his legs, then rests his hands on his knees. He closes his eyes and begins deep, steady breathing, calming himself as much as he can and opening himself up.
Throughout his training as an ASAT commando, and especially since the start of the Galactic Civil War, Calvin had discovered he had certain gifts. After consulting with several Jedi, including Ahsoka, he realized that he had some small gifts in the Force. While he couldn't wield the Force the way his sister could, he had some Force sensitivity. Mainly, it slightly enhanced his reflexes and strength, which explained how he was able to become so deadly in combat. In addition, he had the ability to sense those around him, as well as sense the presence of the light or dark side. This had helped him to kill one of the Inquisitors he had killed during the war, as he had been able to track the Inquisitor by feeling for his dark side presence. It was nowhere near the level of a Jedi, but still helped him when he needed it.
Now, Calvin opens himself up, reaching out to what little of the Force is within him, and then whispers, "Are you there? I am ready."
For several moments, it is silent, until he hears a voice in his head. A deep, wise voice, saying, "You have done well, Calvin. You have almost found them."
"Is it as I suspected? Is Gideon pursuing the child for his power in the Force?" Calvin asks the voice.
"Yes. He is. And the child must be protected. Gideon cannot be allowed access to the child again. The future depends on the safety of the child. You must find the Mandalorian and help him in his quest," the voice says.
"I understand, Master Qui-Gon," Calvin says. He then opens his eyes and stares out over the plains of Nevarro before sliding down from the boulder and begins the hike back to where his SF-23 Black Widow is parked, ready to continue the hunt.
And, I'll end there.
So, yes. This story will feature Calvin Adams teaming up with Din Djarin on his quest. I'm guessing some of you may have suspected as much given how I explained Calvin's mission at the end of The Terran Alliance Strikes Back, but now it's confirmed.
So, I hope you don't mind that I included Calvin having some power in the Force. I thought it would help explain exactly how he became so deadly of a fighter at such a young age and how he's been able to stand against Inquisitors and even Darth Vader with such success.
Also, I hope you liked that I included Calvin communicating with Qui-Gon Jinn. I'll say now that Qui-Gon has not always been communicating with Calvin. Only recently in the timeline. Obviously, it's to help protect Baby Yoda (I know, it's been confirmed his name is Grogu, but I still call him Baby Yoda, and will probably refer to him as such a lot in my author's notes). I did this because I plan on Baby Yoda being a crucial character in later stories, and his future importance I think would be enough that a dead Jedi like Qui-Gon would reach out to Calvin to set him on the right path to protect him.
Now, obviously, Calvin will be the main Terran character in this, and will be travelling with Mando for the rest of the story. However, there will be a number of Terran Alliance characters showing up in this. Ahsoka and Thrawn will be among them, but there will be a number of others, mainly around the end of the events of Season 2 and beyond. I'll also be bringing a number of Star Wars Legends characters into this.
So, next chapter will show part of the events of Episode 1 of Season 2. Calvin won't actually meet Mando until Chapter 3. I hope you're excited for this story. Until the next chapter is up, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
Author's Note: The Star Wars character list somehow has yet to have Mando and Baby Yoda added, so I have submitted a request to the site to have them added. Once they are, I will add them to the character list of this story.
