Queen Aleena:*off-screen* The most difficult thing a Mother has to do, is let go of her children. For some, it happens when the children no longer need them. They are the lucky ones.
(Ayla's POV)
*We were outside Robotnik's fortress, hoping to sneak in to do a little spying. Sonia looked at it through some binoculars*
Sonia: Looks clear.
Sonic: Ready to rock and roll?
*I got out my board*
Ayla: Ready when you are.
Manic: Drum-roll, please?
*Sonic picked up Sonia & Manic*
Sonic: Hold on to your lunch. *he zoomed towards the fortress with me next him on my board. we then snuck in through the sewers & came up through a man-hole* Okay, Manic. You're on.
*Manic went up to a door & picked the lock until it opened*
Manic: Clear.
*We went inside & found ourselves in a room with a vault. Manic hooked up a device to the vault, while Sonia opened a laptop & started hacking*
Sonic:*whispering* Get it yet?
Sonia:*whispering* Sonic, we just started.
*A few seconds later, she got it & the vault opened. Inside were drawers. I quickly went inside & started going through the files & found a floppy disk*
Ayla:*whispering* Intelligence was right. Plans for a micro Roboticizor.
*I gave it to Sonia & she plugged it into her laptop. It showed plans for a Roboticizor that looked like a writing tool*
Sonic:*whispering* That thing's no bigger than a pencil.
Sonia:*whispering* Oh my gosh! If Robotnik perfects this, his spies could sneak up on Freedom Fighters!
Manic:*whispering* And one wave of that wand and "Poof" you're a goner!
*Suddenly, a laser hit the laptop, destroying it. Swat-Bots came up into the room. Sonic grabbed Sonia & Manic, while I got on my board. We zoomed away from the city & hid in an alley as they went past us*
Sonic: Okay, they're gone. Let's blow this dump.
*Suddenly, we all heard a crying sound*
Ayla: What was that?
Sonia: It sounded like a baby.
*We turned around & saw a blue baby male hedgehog with green eyes & peach skin wearing a white diaper in an orange basket*
Sonic: What would a baby be doing in this dump?
*We all went up to him*
Sonia: Oh, what a little angel!
Manic: Sure doesn't smell like an angel. P.U.!
*I reached out my finger to him & he grabbed it, giggling*
Sonic: Cute little guy.
Ayla: He's adorable.
Sonic: Kinda reminds me of me when I was a baby.
Manic: You mean the smelly part? *I giggled at that* What do we do with it?
Sonia: We take him with us, of course! We certainly can't leave him here.
*I nodded as I picked up the basket the baby was in. Just then, I heard it silently chuckle a familiar chuckle. Then I realized something*
Ayla:*in her mind* Just when I thought Robotnik couldn't sink to a new and despicable low.
*We took the baby back to the hideout. Sonic emptied a bag of baby supplies while Sonia fed him some milk*
Sonia: Poor little guy was starving.
Manic: Yo, he still reeks. When are you gonna change his diapers?
Sonia: Oh no, brother dear. I'm feeding him. You, Sonic, and Ayla have to change his diapers.
Ayla: Fine by me.
Manic: What!? No way! I don't have a clue.
*Sonia handed him the baby & he started playing with Manic's nose*
Sonia: It's time you learned.
*She then handed Sonic a diaper, who put a close-pin on his nose & took the baby*
Sonic: Watch closely, bro. Next time, you're doing it.
*He took the baby over to a chair & quickly changed his diaper. Then he put the dirty diaper in a garbage bag, tied it up, & threw it to Manic*
Ayla: Nice one, bro.
*Sonia brought over the basket/Dingo*
Sonia: Okay. And now we just have to find out who this baby belongs to.
Manic: Yeah. And before his diapers need changing again.
*He took the garbage bag outside while Sonic put the baby in the basket/Dingo. Sonia tucked him in & he started to fall asleep. We started to tip-toe out of the room so he could take a nap. Then we had a meeting*
Manic: No way, no how, uh-uh! I do not babysit!
Sonic: Hey, bro. Look at it this way. The sooner we find the kid's parents, the sooner he's outta here and you'll never have babysit again.
Sonia: And while Sonic checks the underground, I'll check with all my society friends.
Sonic: Besides, he'll probably sleep til we get back. See ya.
Ayla: I'll stay here and help Manic.
Manic: Thanks little sis.
*With that, Sonic & Sonia left*
Sonia: Bye.
*Suddenly, we heard the baby crying again*
Manic: Great.
Ayla: Don't worry. He's probably just hungry again. *we opened the door, surprised to find him in front of it. I gave the basket a suspicious look**in her mind* Better keep a closer eye on this one.
*I put him back on the couch*
Manic: Aw, come on, kid, have a heart. *he picked him up* Dude, we fed you, changed your yucky diapers, what else is wrong, huh?
Ayla: Manic, don't speak mean to him. Reason with him.
Manic: Oh, ok. *he looked at the baby for a few seconds* Oh, that's it. You gotta burp, right? *he patted his back & he burped* Way to go, guy. *the baby smiled at him & he smiled back* You are kinda cute.
Ayla: Told you.
Manic: I know what you need. A little ride with the top down.
Ayla: Huh?
*To my surprise, he tied the baby basket, with the baby in it, to his back & zoomed out of the hideout on his hoverboard. Worried about the baby, I followed them*
Manic: So what do you think, kid? This is beyond cool or what? *I thought he'd get scared, but he just laughed, enjoying the ride. Dingo, on the other hand, looked terrified. I stayed behind them as we zoomed through the city, the baby giggling the whole way. then we went back to the hideout* Yeah, you like that, didn't you? Didn't you? *I tried to hold in my giggles, hearing him talk baby talk* Well, maybe we'll take a little ride again, huh?
*We started to leave the room when we both heard a gurgling sound. I knew that was Dingo, but I played along for Manic's sake. Also, I didn't have any proof yet. We went back to him*
Ayla: What's wrong? Did you get a tummy ache, little guy?
*The baby just smiled & waved his fists*
Manic: Hey, does the good boy like music? *he summoned his drums* Get ready kid. Here it comes. *he started playing his drums & the baby seemed to love it. then brought the baby up to the drums & let him play one* Alright. You're a natural. Let's jam!
*He & the baby started to play together & having fun. Once they were done, I clapped*
Ayla: You guys were great! *then I picked him up* Ok, ok, that's enough rock n' roll for one day. It's time for his nap.
*I let him hold on to the drumstick as I took him over to Dingo & rocked him in my arms as I sang a lullaby*
*Ayla singing*

Dr. Robotnik: I hate to admit it, but she does have a lovely voice.
Sleet: Agreed.
(Ayla's POV)
*Manic tucked him in*
Manic: You're pretty cool, kid. You know what, you need a name. Ed? Bertram? Chauncey? *I shook my head at all three names* Nah. *he snapped his fingers twice* Hip! Hip Hedgehog!
Ayla: I like it.
*We both have him a kiss*
Manic: Check you later, Hip.
*We both tip-toed out of the room & closed the door. Just then, Sonic & Sonia came zooming in*
Ayla:*whispering* Shh! That was fast.
Manic: Oh, we had a great time. He cried, we fed him, he cried, I burped him, then I cried, and he rafted on my vest.
*He showed a spot where Hip threw up on him earlier*
Sonia: So . . . You two won't mind taking care of him while we try to find the Roboticizor prototype tonight?
Manic: Oh, no prob.
*Sonic started looking him over*
Manic: Okay, who are you and what did you do with the real Manic?
Manic: Ha, ha, so me, Hip, and Ayla spent a little quality time and now we're buds.
Sonia: Hip?
Ayla: Well, we couldn't just keep calling him "the baby."
Sonic: Hip Hedgehog? Way cool.
Sonia: So we got tonight covered. But what about after that?
Manic: We should take him to Sanctuary.
Sonia: No we can't. Too many things to do.
Manic: But -
Ayla: Sonia's right, Manic. I want to take him to Sanctuary too, but we've got too much on right now for a side trip.
Sonia: We can leave the baby and one of the underground shelters. He'll be fine.
Manic: No way! Those places get raided all the time! Got a better idea. I'll take him to the Sanctuary tonight while you guys are on the mission.
Sonic: Too dangerous to take that journey alone. You know that.
*Suddenly, Hip started crying. We all went into the room he was in*
Sonia: Maybe he's hungry.
Sonic: I've got something for him.
*He took out a chili dog & tried to give it to Hip*
Ayla: Sonic! Baby's don't eat chili dogs!
Sonic: His loss. Ah, a work of art.
*He ate it in one bite*
Manic: I know what he wants. Music.
*He summoned his drums. Hip smiled*
Sonia: Amazing! Well then, let's give him a song.
*She, Sonic, & I summoned our instruments too*
*All singing*

Manic: No prob.
Sonia: We can go now.

*He cooed as we zoomed away*
*Soon, we were zooming through Robotropolis, but stopped because everything was shaking*
Sonia: What's that?
Sonic: Assault Force!
*We saw a bunch of ships flying overhead*
Ayla: Whoa! I've never seen so many. Even back home.
Sonic: Yeah. Wonder what's up?
Sonia: Let's just be happy they're not following us.
*Then we snuck inside the fortress. Sonia went up to a computer & started typing*
Sonia:*whispering* Uh-oh.
Sonic:*whispering* I hate when you say "Uh-oh."
Ayla:*whispering* Ditto.
Sonia:*whispering* Look at this.
Sonic:*whispering* Yeah, we've seen it. So? *she pressed a button & the screen went dark* Yeah? So?
Sonia:*whispering* So, there's nothing else to see, guys. There are no insides to the thing! It's a fake!
Ayla:*whispering* What? *just then, we heard crying. we turned around & saw Robotnik, holding Hip in his arms* HIP!
Dr. Robotnik: Isn't it annoying when they won't stop crying? Fortunately, like those Roboticizor plans, this baby . . . *suddenly, he opened Hip's back, showing machine parts* Is fake too!
*Sonic & I both became furious*
Sonic & Ayla: Why you - !
*Suddenly, all three of us were trapped by . . .*
Ayla: Electronic ankle shackles!
Dr. Robotnik: Welcome to your nightmare, hedgehogs.
*He had two Swat-Bots take us to his throne room*
Dr. Robotnik: It seems your brother has decided to take that cute little baby on a journey.
Sonia: Manic!
*Robotnik stepped behind us*
Sonic: Where's he going?
Dr. Robotnik: To that place you call Sanctuary.
Ayla: Oh no!
Dr. Robotnik: Oh, it will be such a pleasure destroying the Freedom Fighters little nest. And all the little nestlings.
Sonia: You are so below slime!
Dr. Robotnik: Thank you. But I must say, I'm surprised it took you this long to figure it out, Hero. And all this time, I thought you were the smart one.
*Sonic & Sonia turned to me in surprise*
Sonic: Ayla! You knew!
Ayla: I knew about the basket, but I didn't know Hip was a robot!
*Sonia summoned her keyboard & played. Her music hit the shackles, but they didn't break*
Dr. Robotnik: Nice try, hedgehog. But those fields will withstand anything.
Sonia: Huh?
*Sonic & I summoned our instruments*
Sonic: Even a power-outtage, Robutthead?
Ayla: Combined with a sonic scream?
*He played his guitar & I sang a loud note, causing everything to short circuit. Then everything went dark & shackles broke*
Sonia: Nice shot, you two.
Dr. Robotnik: Stop them!
*A spotlight shined on us & the Swat-Bots got ready to fire*
Sonic: Hold on to your socks, sis!
*I got on my board as I followed them out of the fortress, dodging lasers*
Dr. Robotnik: Hold your fire you idiots!
*A little while later, we caught up with Manic as he was flying across the desert. Sonic & Sonic on the same hoverboard*
Sonia: There he is!
Ayla: We got lucky. He's still 200 kilometers from Sanctuary.
Sonic: Get ready to fly!
*We all went up into the air. Suddenly, Dingo grabbed Manic*
Dingo: Gotcha, hedgehog!
Ayla: Manic!
*We hurried to catch up with them. Suddenly, the Assault Force appeared behind us & fired lasers. Sonia summoned her keyboard & blasted back at them. I summoned my microphone & did multiple sonic screams, destroying the ships. Manic struggled to break free from Dingo*
Manic: Let me go! Come on! *suddenly Hip fell out of Dingo* Hip! No!
*He got out of Dingo's grip & dived after Hip. Dingo fell to the ground*
Sonia: Guys! Look!
*We dove after Manic & Hip. Dingo was hit by a laser beam & turned into a bird Manic was just about to catch him when suddenly, he hit the ground breaking into a million pieces. Manic looked shell shocked*
Sonic: Manic! Look out!
*More lasers were fired, destroying what was left of Hip. Manic looked furious*
Sonia: Sorry. We just found out too.
Manic: I'm gonna get Robotnik for this!
*Lasers were still being fired at us*
Sonic: Well, here's your chance.
Ayla: Let's give them some flying lessons.
*We dodged the lasers, destroying a few along the way*
Sonia: Sonic! They're getting close!
*We were coming up on a canyon. Some of the ships crashed into the rocks, getting destroyed*
Ayla: Sonic, maybe we can lose them in that big cloud!
Sonic: Yeah, good idea, little sis. Manic, if we split up, they'll split up. Jam into the cloud from the right, I'll go left, and Ayla, you go in through the bottom. We'll meet in the middle and blow out the top!
Manic: You got it!
Ayla: Meet you there!
*Sonic, I went one way & Manic went the other. The ships split up, following each of us. We escaped through the top of the cloud, while the ships all crashed into each other*
*We made it to Sanctuary, where Manic was playing the drums for the kids*
Manic: Now if you wanna learn that, you need to find some sticks and some flat rocks*
*The kids all ran off to find some sticks*
Manic: To think, I almost lead those guys here.
Sonia: You were just trying to do the right thing.
Sonic: You okay, bro?
*The kids came back with some sticks*
Manic: I am now.
Ayla: Good.
