Chapter 16-Meeting the man

Carol's P.O.V

Carol stares at the man, who stares back at her. "There is no need for that. If I wanted you dead, you would be," The man says.

"I think I'll keep it up. You can't be too careful these days," Carol says.

"Mind if I sit at least?" The man asks her. Carol nods as she motions for him to sit down. The man sits down, and Carol sits across from him. "My name is Paul Rovia. But my friends call me Jesus."

"Jesus?" Carol asks.

"It's just what they call me," Jesus says. "I'm going to set my knife and gun on the ground in front of me. I would like it if you lowered that after, so we could talk."

Carol nods as Jesus pulls out his knife and gun and sets them down. He looks at Carol, who lowers her gun. "My name is Carol," Carol says.

"I'm part of a place, Carol. A community called Hilltop. I can tell by looking at you that you know how to survive. We could use people like you."

"What's the catch?" Carol asks. "What's wrong with this place."

"A group has control over it. A group called the saviors, our leader is a coward and won't fight back, so we provide for them."

Carol stares at the man as a plan starts to form in her head. "Their leader show up?" Carol asks.

"He does. He's a prick. His name is Simon," Jesus tells him. "We need strong people if we ever want to fight them."

"I'm coming. We'll leave in the morning," Carol tells Jesus, who nods with a smile.

Glenn's P.O.V

Glenn walked through Alexandria the next day and up to Eugene. "I need you," Glenn tells Eugene.

Eugene looks at him. "For what?" He asks.

"A run," Glenn tells him. "The warehouse."

"The one Aiden and Nicholas died in?" Eugene asks.

"Yeah," Glenn tells him. "Noah promised Deanna that we would go back there and clear it. Bring Nicholas and Aiden back. Bury them," Glenn says. "When Deanna comes back, I want her son to be in the ground. That warehouse, could you use the technology and equipment in there for weapons?"

"Yeah, I could," Eugene says. "There is equipment there that I could use to make bombs, trip wires. Traps, bullets."

"Good, get your gear," Glenn says.

"What?"

"You're coming, Eugene. Meet me by the gate in thirty minutes while I get some of the others."

Noah's P.O.V

Noah and T-dog walk through the town they are searching. "How did you lose it?" Noah asks T-dog, who looks at him.

"I was on Maggie's farm with the group. I got separated from them by a herd. One of them took a chunk out of my arm in the woods. I got into a house and cut it off. While I was on the road, I found a community with a blacksmith. He made me the hand," T-dog tells him as he shows him the knife that was now attached. "He made me a hand, a knife."

Noah nods as a walker comes toward them. "I got it," Noah says as he pulls his knife out and stabs it in the head.

"How about you? How did you run into them?"

"I was being kept in a hospital in Atlanta. Beth, they brought in Beth, and she helped me escape. I found Daryl and Carol, and I robbed them. I got trapped by a walker, and they saved me, and we tried to get Beth back, but she didn't make it, and I've been with them ever since."

T-dog nods as they stop by a shop. "Let's look in here," T-dog says. Noah nods as he follows him in.

Tara's P.O.V

Tara stabs a walker in the head and throws it to the ground as she looks at Paula. "Crossing my fingers," Tara says as she opens the door to the basement of the house they were searching. They walk down the stairs with their knives and flashlights out. They look around and see a couple of cans on a table and a crate. Tara walks over to the chest. She pulls it open and smiles.

"What's in it?" Paula asks.

"A shotgun, two handguns, and a rifle," Tara says as she pulls the weapons out and sets them in a bag. "We're getting lucky."

"I would say we are due for some luck," Paula says with a smirk.

Tara nods as she stands up. "Maybe we are, but luck always runs out."

"It does, but we're smart, and we don't need it," Paula says. "Come on."

Tara nods as she follows her.

Glenn's P.O.V

Glenn, Eugene, Heath, Morgan, Aaron, Alden, and Spencer climb out of their cars and looks at the warehouse. "The walkers outside were led away," Glenn says. "The walkers inside are the ones we have to worry about."

They nod as they get to the revolving door and look at the walkers in the lobby. "We kill them with our guns. When Nicholas comes out, we use our knives," Glenn tells them.

"And Aiden?" Spencer asks.

"He's trapped on a forklift. He won't be here," Glenn tells him. "Get ready," Glenn says as he raises his gun and shoots the glass breaking it. The walkers start to come through the glass as the six of them shoot at them. Eugene stood behind them. Glenn looks at Nicholas and pulls out his knife. "Keep me covered!" Glenn shouts. They nod as Glenn grabs Nicholas by his shirt and stabs him in the head. Glenn drops the body as they shoot the rest of the walkers.

"Heath and Aaron, stay out here. Yell, if something comes, we'll tell you when to come in."

They nod as they enter the building. They walk through it slowly, clearing any walkers they see until they get to the forklift. Aiden's walker grabs at them. Tear's go down Spencer's face as he stares at his walker. "It should be you," Glenn says, making Spencer look at him. "He's your brother."

Spencer nods as he pulls his knife out and walks up to Aiden. "I'm sorry this happened. I'll protect Mom. I hope you and Dad are together," Spencer says before he stabs him in the head.

"Spencer and I will get Aiden out of here. Morgan, Gavin, help Eugene with whatever he needs help with," Glenn tells the two men, who nod as Spencer and Glenn pull the body off and take it outside.

Rick's P.O.V

Rick, Carl, Jessie, and Sam stood by the house where Rick hid the gun. "Alright, Sam," Rick says as he bends down beside the boy. "This isn't a toy, but you can't be scared of it. This will save your life someday," Rick says. "Now take the gun."

Sam nods as he takes the gun. Rick points to a target that they pained on a tree. "You need to hit that. You need to be able to shoot."

Sam nods as he raises the gun and fires. He misses the tree completely. "This is going to take a while," Carl says.

Ron's P.O.V

Ron finds Enid by the pond and sits down beside her. "We need to talk," Ron says.

"About what?" Enid asks.

"Us," Ron says.

"Ron-"

"Please, just let me talk," Ron says, and Enid nods. "I was an idiot before. Before Rick came, but I know better now. I'm not trying to make you like me. I just want you to know. I understand now what this world is, what you went through."

Enid nods as Ron stands up. "If you think you can have a life with Carl. Take it," Ron tells her before he walks away.

Daryl's P.O.V

Daryl walked out of the prison and down to the Governor's body. He grabs him by his arms and drags him into the courtyard. He walked to the third truck and grabbed a gas can. He poured it on the body as Rosita came outside. "Daryl," Rosita says. Daryl looks at her as he sets the gas can down.

"I know it's a waste, but I want to watch this fucker burn for what he did. He took this place down. Killed Hershel and sent us all back out there. Bob, Beth, and Tyreese, they all died because of that," Daryl says.

"Burn him," Rosita says. Daryl nods as he lights a match and throws it on the body, and it goes up in flames. Daryl and Rosita stare at the body.

"I've always wondered what would have happened if Carl or I had taken the shot," Daryl says.

"Hershel and Michonne could have died, and you would have still ended up out there. Maggie told me the story. You guys did what you thought was right,"

Daryl nods as they watch the body burn.

Glenn's P.O.V

Glenn dug in the dirt with Aiden and Nicholas's bodies beside him. Behind him, Eugene was digging. "How many bombs do you think you can make?"

"Enough to make the saviors wish they never came at us," Eugene says. Glenn nods as he looks at the man. "You are a lot stronger than you think you are, Eugene. I know it. Abraham, Rosita, and Tara know it too. You're gonna survive."

"I've only survived because of Abraham and Rosita and all of you. The people who gave their lives for me, Bob included. I would have died at the start if not for them."

"Yeah, you would have. But now you can protect yourself, Eugene. I'm willing to show you how how to shoot a gun better and fight walkers. Let me show you how to survive," Glenn offers.

"Let's get these bodies in the ground and get started."

Glenn nods with a smile as he continues to dig.

Carol's P.O.V

The gates to Hilltop opened, and Jesus and Carol walked in. They saw saviors walking around, and Carol looked at Simon as he walked down to them. "Jesus, it is good to see you, my friend," Simon says as he pats his shoulder. He looks at Carol. "And who are you?" He asks with a grin.

"Someone who can help you," Carol says.

"How so?" Simon asks.

"Let's talk. I can tell you how," Carol says.

Simon grins at her and nods. "Okay, I'm interested, come on," Simon says as he leads her away. They enter Gregory's office. "Gregory, get out."

"Who is this?" Gregory asks as he looks at Carol.

"I don't know, but she already interests me more than you, so get out," Simon says. Gregory nods as he leaves. "I didn't get your name," Simon says as he shuts the doors.

"Carol, my name is Carol."

"How can you help me, Carol?"

Thanks for reading. Carol has met Jesus and has now met Simon. What is her plan? The next chapter will start with this and then a little bit more in Alexandria and the prison before a possible time skip. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
