The construction on Cair Paravel began as soon as Lucy finished her drawings from memory. But it was still an amazement for everyone. A Telmarine wanting to rebuild the Narnian capital, what a contradiction. Lords of the land and neighbouring countries had started to parade their daughters before the Narnian kings, in hopes of a match.

"The Calormene ambassador continues to try to match up Caspian with Adila. They are not even interested in one another!"

"Easy, Susan. I haven't seen you this upset about something in a long time. Not since the Rabadash incident, and I came home."

"What do you think is going to happen?"

"I'm not of the habit of anticipating things, Susan."

"Kayla, you and Ivar are needed in the council room."

"Why, Edmund?"

"The Calormene ambassador and his son-."

"I get it. Let me change clothes real quick. I need to get inside their heads."

"Kayla, just how are you getting inside their heads?"

"The same way I got into Rabadash's."

"Oh no, not that dress."

"Oh yes, that dress."

Once Kayla had changed, she made her way to the council room, where Ivar was already waiting for her. The rest of the family was already there.

"Kayla Marie-."

"Nevermind the dress, Daddy. I have a reason for it."

"What's going on?"

"Lord Ivar, it would surely benefit our nations if you break off your engagement with Lady Kayla, and allow her to marry my son."

"First of all, my fiancée makes her own decisions. Once she's set, there is no stopping her. Second of all, you just want your son married to Kayla for her throne. You need to keep in mind, ambassador, that it is a woman who rules Terebinthia. Kayla never has, nor will she ever allow a man to control her!"

"Is that not why you are marrying her, Lord Ivar?"

"I'm marrying Lady Kayla because I love her! I have my own throne!"

"And pray tell, what throne is that?"

"King of Ettinsmoor and the Wild Lands of the North!"

Kayla decided to be bold, very bold, with her next move.

"And besides, ambassador Hasim, I don't think your son is as good of a kisser as Lord Ivar is."

Without hesitation, she pulled Ivar into a very heated kiss, that almost turned into a makeout session. Right in front of EVERYONE.

"That was just to show you what you won't get, Jalil."

Mr. Bedwell and Mr. Andersen could only smirk at the Calormene ambassador during that.

"And I have a question to ask of Queen Susan."

At the sound of Caspian's voice, everyone had an idea of what he was going to ask. Peter, Edmund, Ivar, and Mr. Pevensie all nodded to Susan, giving her reassurance.

"What is it you want to ask me, Caspian?"

"With your respect, and your permission, I would like to court you. And I am not doing this because of the ambassador wanting to marry me to his daughter. I am doing this, because I like you as a person. Your father and your brothers, even Ivar, have already given me permission to court you."

"Even Peter?"

"Especially me, Susan."

"Even that is shocking."

"Shut up, Kayla."

"Thanks, Peter."

At this point, the only approval Susan wanted to hear was Peter's, and now that she had it, she was not going to pass this up.

"I accept your courtship, Caspian."

"I protest! I want my daughter married to King Caspian!"

"Ambassador, it's his life, you have no say in it. And remember, we have the authority to sense you right back to Calormen. Though if you do leave, I request that Adila stays here."

"Why?"

"I need a handmaiden, and she seems right for the position."

"Kayla, you never needed a handmaiden."

"Adila has a good skill with embroidery. I don't. I need a teacher."

Edmund knew why Kayla wanted Adila to stay.

"Peter, Ivar. She's trying to get Adila out of a bad family situation."

"Hmm. Who better to teach my daughter how to be a queen than the Queen of Terebinthia herself? Very well. Adila, you will be the ward of Lady Kayla when you become of age."

"She becomes my ward when I request it. Don't you dare hold back on me, Hashim. Oh, and you might want to tell your wife about your indiscretions, or I will."

"You wouldn't dare tell her!"

"Oh, wouldn't I?"

"Just because you are Caoilfhionn-!"

"Wrong! Caoilfhionn is what I am, but Kayla is who I am! Caoilfhionn has the powers, but Kayla is bold enough to use them! When I take back Terebinthia, I won't be crowned Caoilfhionn. It's Kayla that will make your life a living hell if you don't respect Narnia's laws. And frankly, Lady Protector of Narnia, Baroness of Dancing Lawn, Guardian of the Dancing Trees and the Dryads is my favourite title! Yes, I am the one who will take back Terebinthia, but only God knows what will happen after that. If I live through it, and if I have children by that point, I might just put my oldest daughter on the throne, and come back here to rule Dancing Lawn again. And I am certain that my Athair would have no objections."

"Neither would we, Kayla. The dancing trees and the dryads refuse to have anyone else over it, and Dancing Lawn only comes alive for you and Aslan."

"Strange it doesn't come alive for you Pevensies. I would have thought any descendant of Aslan could bring it to life."

"There are only five of his descendants left alive, and you're the closer one."

"Have you ever tried to bring it to life, Peter?"

"No."

"Then how do you know you can't? If this is the only meeting we have for today, I'm gonna go back to my chambers, but not before I get some coffee and sweet rolls from the kitchens. Do not disturb me unless it's urgent."

The main reason Kayla wanted to be left alone was she had to send out many letters announcing her engagement to Ivar.

"Archenland, Rivendell, Lothlórien, Rohan, Gondor, the Woodland Realm, Mordor, the Labyrinth Underground, King's Landing, Winterfell, Highgarden, Iron Islands, Harrenhall, Riverrun, the Eyrie, Lannisport, Storm's End, Sunspear, Bear Island, Braavos, Meereen, Yunkai, Lys, Pentos, Myr, Volantis, Lorath, Tyrosh, Norvos, Qohor, Sarnor, Omber, Ifequevron, Qarth, Astapor, Lhazar, Yi Ti, Asshai, and countless others. Actually no, not King's Landing, and not Lannisport. I don't want the Lannisters to know this. Especially Tywin and Cersei.

"Kayla, it's Ivar. Can I come in?"

"Yes, leave the door open, we don't wanna draw any suspicions."

"Of course."

"Sixty-eight kingdoms, Ivar."

"What about sixty-eight kingdoms?"

"I have a blood claim to sixty-eight kingdoms, Ivar."

"You and the Pevensies both. And it's fixing to be sixty-nine for you. Queen of Ettinsmoor and the Wild Lands of the north. If I do take back Ettinsmoor, I don't want you titled as queen consort. You're too precious to me to be labeled as second best."

"Same goes for you when I take back Terebinthia. Not to mention my supernatural titles, the Triple Goddess and Calypso, spirit of the sea. And it looks like I may have to re-ascend as both. I just wish I didn't have so much of this."

Ivar pulled Kayla into his lap and he rested his head on her shoulder, and she rested her head on his. Their parents walked by, and just took in the sight of the two of them.
