Evora rode along the waters edge looking for Septimus. She felt nervous as she knew he was going to be furious with her but hopefully the information she had would ease the blow.
Evora then spotted him coming out of the water as she jumped off her horse and ran towards him.
"Septimus!" She shouted as she approached him "Are you OK?"
"Do I look OK to you?" He snapped at her which she had expected. Evora went to reply but her mouth went dry and voice froze, what was she meant to say? Though she didn't have to as the Prince continued "What the hell was that back there? Have you been siding against me this whole time?"
"Septimus, that's not fair. You knew they took me in their care" Evora frowned at him.
"More than just their care by the looks of it" he muttered as he rinsed out his soaked trench coat. Evora couldn't believe what she was hearing, was he almost jealous of her friendship with the pirate crew.
"Septimus you are unbelievable!" She shot back at him, the anger rising up in her cheeks.
"I'm unbelievable!" He snapped back as moved towards her "You're the whore who has been sleeping with that pirate this whole time"
Evora grabbed hold of his arm, digging her nails into his wet black shirt as she shouted "How dare you suggest that of me! That 'pirate' is the one who saved me whilst you gave up on me or more likely didn't even bother to find me. Being kidnapped was a problem solved for you and then you went and sat in your Palace for the last twenty years!"
"I didn't bother?" Septimus flared and then sadness washed over him "I looked for you for months and even after years I still looked for your face in every crowd"
Evora eased her grip on his arm and looked away. She felt tears start to well up in her eyes, not something that occurred very often.
"I'm sorry Septimus" she whispered softly "I've been on my own for so long"
Septimus moved closer towards her, his hand reaching for her chin as he turned her gently to face him, his eyes softening.
"For what it's worth, I'm sorry too. I should have never had suggested those things of you" he warmly offered "I guess I was almost jealous"
"Jealous?" Evora almost snorted.
"How could I not be" Septimus frowned "You were cursed to forget me whilst you gained friendships elsewhere that you held onto the hope of all these years"
Evora smiled at him and placed her hands on his as she replied "I am so glad we found each other again"
Septimus held tightly onto her hand as they stared at each other for the longest moment, all tension set aside.
"We really need to make up time" Evora suddenly bit her lip.
"Yes, of course" nodded the Prince looking around "Where's my horse?"
"Please don't be mad" Evora looked guilty "But I let Bernard take him"
"Who?" Frowned Septimus
"Septimus! You really are the worse" she rolled her eyes "Bernard, the ginger boy from the inn"
"You let him take my horse?" He frowned at her further.
"But we have Scout!" Evora pointed to her horse.
"Fine. But I'm riding" ordered Septimus
"Absolutely not" Evora shook her head as she jumped onto her horse, taking the reins ready in her hands. Septimus noted he didn't have time to argue with someone as stubborn and independent as Evora so he sighed and climbed on behind her.
"You might want to hold on tight" Evora suggested, her voice going almost high pitched with the embarrassment of asking him to hold her tight but Scout was a fast horse. Septimus didn't give anything away and put his strong arms around her waist as he moved closer into her.
Evora felt her pulse get quicker by his touch, she had never let anyone get as close to her as she had let him the past few days. How she wondered what would of been if she had remembered him. But she didn't want to get distracted, not this close.
"Onward, Scout!" Evora tapped the reins and they begun the next part of their journey.
