A/N: Thank you all for your support and lovely reviews. I did notice a couple reviews from a guest or guests I would like to address.
First and foremost, it is never my intent to offend anyone with my writing. I do sincerely apologize to anyone who feels the robotic limb I describe in this story undermines or demeans the struggle amputees experience. While I cannot begin to imagine your pain, I am not unsympathetic.
With that being said, prior to writing this, I have done an extensive amount of research and found limbs similar to the one I described do indeed exist and I have included some of the material I have read from amputees when describing Arizona's point of view. I know this is a very sensitive subject and no disrespect was intended.
As for the Sara/Callie debate that I have seen often on this site, I have chosen to include Sara's personal changes in my version of Callie's journey and have stated that up front. Some people can't, don't, or don't want to see Callie as non-binary and that is a personal choice. If this story is not something you like or support, that is your choice and I understand it is not for everyone.
This story is A/U, it is fictional, and all characters belong to Shonda and ABC.
Callie accepted her plate from the waiter, offered a polite, "thank you," then turned and scraped half her fries onto Arizona's plate as she asked, "So do we have a game plan for the rest of the afternoon or…" she cut herself off as she popped a fry into her mouth. Arizona lifted her plate and scraped half of her fresh vegetables onto Callie's plate along with the pickle spear as she accepted the tomato slices Callie just took off her grilled chicken sandwich and replied, "Well, I figured we could hit the sporting goods store across the street to get the supplies Sof needs for camp, grab her a few outfits at the Children's Store around the corner, then we could do what we needed to do." Callie took a bite of her pickle and responded, "Sounds like a plan. What do you think Sof?" Both women looked to their daughter who sat staring at them with her mouth agape, and chicken strip frozen in mid-air. Sofia had started eating then looked up when her mama asked about the rest of their day and she watched perplexed as they passed food to each other without so much as a look and continued with their conversation like this was something they did all the time. She didn't really remember going out to eat with both parents. They shared the occasional pizza or went out for ice cream, but it was quick and most of the time she did all the talking because well, they didn't talk to each other. This week they ate together, but that was at home and except for giving each other a taste of something they were cooking, they didn't really share food, mama doesn't share food. But what they were doing now, it was just weird. "Sof? Sweetie are you okay?" Hearing her mommy call her name, the little brunette looked up to see her mama pouring some of her pop into her mommy's empty water glass. Yep, weird.
Finally snapping out of her stupor, Sofia eyed her moms suspiciously as she pointed between the two of them and asked, "Why did you just do that?" Callie looked over at her daughter and asked, "Do what?" Sofia put her chicken down and said, "When we go out to eat, you ask for no tomatoes and order a side salad and mommy gets a small side of fries and asks for no pickles, and…and…you didn't you just ordered like normal people and how did you know mommy wanted some of your fries and your tomato or mama wanted some of your vegetables and pickle? And…and you don't share food mama." Both women looked down at their plates then at one another and Callie smiled as she realized they had slipped into their old habit just that easily. Reaching up to link her fingers with Arizona's, she explained, "It's just something we've always done. Mommy doesn't like all the extra grease from the fries, but she craves the salt, and she's never really liked pickles." Arizona nodded and finished, "And mama loves pickles and only likes certain vegetables that come with the side dish and never finishes her fries because they're too salty and for some weird reason, she doesn't like fresh tomatoes or ketchup, but she eats salsa by the gallon and loves pasta sauce. Mama doesn't like just anyone touching her food, but she lets me." Sofia scrunched up her nose then said, "But how did you know that?" Callie looked at her daughter's confused little face and felt the quick pang of guilt she gets occasionally at the thought of the damage breaking up her family did, but immediately let it go when she felt the hand in hers tighten as if her girlfriend could read her mind. Finally she said, "Aside from you, we were the most important people in each other's lives for a very long time and we learned all of those things because when you love someone, you want to know everything about them and do things that makes them happy." Sofia looked at her mommies' hands and at how close they were sitting to each other and asked, "You love each other again?" Arizona nodded and responded honestly, "We always did in some way, but…" She paused and looked at Callie who was already looking at her with all that love shining in her eyes, they hadn't even told each other yet, but they knew, so she finished, "Yes, we love each other again." Seemingly satisfied, Sofia nodded and started eating again.
After they finished lunch, Callie put her credit card in the black folder and handed it to the waiter then asked Arizona, "So you said you wanted some shorts and a couple of dresses, did you have any specific stores in mind?" Arizona shook her head and responded, "Not really, but I would like a new dress for our date Saturday and something to wear to Central Park on Sunday." Furrowing her brow, Callie asked, "Ah what's Sunday? Why are we going to Central Park?" She didn't remember making any plans for Sunday and was slightly disappointed because she had decided to accept Stevie's invitation and was waiting until they were alone to discuss it with Arizona. Seeing the disappointment flash across her girlfriend's face ever so quickly before it was replaced with confusion, Arizona smiled softly and replied, "Actually, Sofia and I are going. Jordyn invited us for a playdate in Central Park with Steven and Jessica Sunday afternoon. I'm sure you're welcome to join but…" Callie shook her head and responded, "No, actually, ah, Stevie invited me to meet up with some of their friends. I was going to talk to you about it later." Then she eyed her skeptically as she accused, "But you already knew didn't' you?" Arizona smiled and said, "They may have mentioned something. It's completely up to you. I don't want you to think I'm pushing…" Callie leaned in and captured pink lips with her own effectively stopping her girlfriend's ramble. Pulling back, she whispered, "Thank you." Arizona lifted her hand to caress Callie's cheek as she responded, "Whatever you need, I'm here." Callie nodded and sat back then smirked, "So where are we going Saturday that you need a fancy new dress?" Arizona laughed and shook her head, "Oh no you don't! It's all planned and it's top secret." Callie furrowed her brow trying to figure out how Arizona, who didn't even know the area, already had something in mind. Then she looked at her daughter and realized they needed to call the babysitter.
Before she could say as much, Sofia piped in and asked, "Where am I going Saturday while you are on your date?" Arizona jolted up and reached for her purse as she said, "Oh! That reminds me." Taking out her phone, she opened her messages and handed it over to Callie saying, "This came while we were at the salon." She didn't want to say anything out loud in case her girlfriend objected. Callie took the phone and read the message from Barb saying she and Daniel had to be in the city for the weekend and would love it if their granddaughter could join them. As she read the message, she realized that meant she and Arizona would have the house all to themselves for the whole weekend. She loved her daughter and was so happy she was home, but she really wanted some alone time to reconnect with Arizona. Who was she kidding? She wanted to have sex. Loud, dirty, hot, uninterrupted… "Callie?" She looked up from the phone to see Arizona watching her intently, eyes partially closed, bottom lip between her teeth, head tilted a little to the right. She knew that look. She loved that look. That look told her Arizona was thinking the same thing she was. Nodding her head she winked at her girlfriend and smiled lasciviously as she passed back the phone and responded, "I think that is a wonderful idea. Sof, what would you say to spending the weekend in the city with grandma and grandpa?" The little girl nodded her head emphatically and exclaimed, "Yes! I've missed them so much. When?" Arizona laughed as she ran her finger across the small receiver at the top and said, "Let's call and find out, shall we?"
After using the restroom, Callie and Sofia met up with Arizona who stood outside near the door still on the phone with her mother. Seeing her family approaching, she pointed in the direction of the sporting goods store and the three started walking to the corner to cross the street. Just as Callie pushed the button she was convinced did nothing to make the light change faster, she heard her girlfriend ask, "Are you sure you don't want to stay with us?" and snapped her head up in the blonde's direction glaring daggers at her. She loved her in-laws, she loved her daughter, but she loved other things too and she hasn't done other things in a long, long time. She relaxed when Arizona winked at her and shook her head as she laughed and said, "Oh my god mom! Uggg, I am not telling you that. Good-bye mom. Okay, I need to check with Calliope and I'll let you know. Okay, me too. Okay mom. Bye." Finally ending the call, Arizona explained, "It was a courtesy offer and mom read right through it." Callie laughed and asked, "What did she say and what aren't you telling her?" Arizona blushed and laughed answering, "She asked if we uh…if we've…" She looked at their daughter who was now focused on their conversation and answered, "She asked if we've played hide and seek recently and said she'd um, rather not be around when we play again…for the first time." Callie chuckled then looked at her daughter whose eyes started to shine with excitement. Knowing what she was about to ask, she decided to cut off the uncomfortable conversation before it started. Shaking her head, she quickly asked, "So what do you need to check with me about?" Arizona looked at their daughter who was bouncing on her toes with excitement as she said, "They are on their way now and wondered, since we are already close, if we wanted to meet them for dinner and just leave Sof with them tonight. The company who hired dad to do their security checks put them up at The Aria. They aren't leaving until Sunday afternoon, so we can come in early, have breakfast with them, pick up Sof, then meet with Stevie and Jordyn." Callie looked at their daughter who was nearly bursting at the seams, smiled softly and said, "We could do that. We were going to get little miss some new clothes anyway, we can just add hygiene products and a couple of other things to the list." Both women laughed when their daughter jumped in the air pumping her fist and yelling, "YAY!" As they started to walk into the store, Callie yelped as Arizona pinched her ass and whispered, "Yay indeed.''
After collecting the majority of items on the camp supply list, including the essentials such as bug spray, sunscreen, water bottle, and rain gear, Callie noticed Arizona's gaze kept landing on the huge wall of shoes and boots. Arizona loved shoes, any kind of shoe, but for nearly six years, she was limited to what would fit the plastic foot on her prosthetics. This was part of the reason she spent so much time perfecting the mechanics of the foot and ankle on her prototype. Leaning down she whispered, "Would you like to look?" Arizona smiled brightly and looked down at her leg as she asked, "Can I run with this?" Callie nodded as she responded, "I took the average amount of exercise into account when designing it and it's lightweight enough that you should be able to maneuver it with no problem. Even if you can't, the foot is programmable so it fits most any type of shoe. Get the shoes you want now, honey." Arizona threw her arms around Callie's neck and placed a smacking kiss on her cheek. As she pulled back, Callie could see her eyes were glistening, but the look of pure joy and childlike excitement on her girlfriend's face is what made her heart flip in her chest. Before she even had a chance to move, Arizona was talking to a saleswoman pointing at various types of shoes with her phone in her hand preparing to program her foot.
Callie leaned against one of the shelves and watched as Arizona and Sofia picked out and tried on different pairs of matching shoes. Her heart swelled as she heard her daughter's giggle and Arizona's full belly laugh at the sight of the bright orange and pink tennis shoes that adorned both of their feet. Though she prayed they would decide against that specific pair of shoes, Callie couldn't help but smile at how cute they were with their matching footwear. Looking at them now and thinking back to Arizona's reaction to both her and Sofia's touch earlier, Callie knew this right here was the reason she kept working on the prototype. The look of absolute pleasure from doing something as mundane as buying shoes, the sheer happiness of feeling the touch of people you love, it was completely worth the late nights, the research, the trials, the failures, it was worth everything to her to be able to put that look on her girlfriend's face, to give her those feelings, those memories. It was at that very moment that it occurred to her, it wasn't Arizona's leg she was trying to replace, it was her smile, her joy. She knew no matter what she did, she couldn't replicate the real thing, she knew there would always be pain and moments of frustration, she also knew Arizona worked hard to accept the person she had become. She didn't want to minimize her girlfriend's struggle, but it didn't mean she couldn't try to ease it.
Getting that tingling feeling in the back of her neck, Callie glanced up to see twinkling cerulean blue eyes locked on her and two dimpled smiles beaming back at her. She realized why when she noticed at the end of her girlfriend's extended arm was the most hideous pair of pink and orange tennis shoes she had ever seen and this particular pair looked to be in her size. Instantly shaking her head and waving her hands in front of her she exclaimed, "Nope! Un huh. You two girls go right ahead. I'm good." Apparently her traitorous family planned for this as they both stuck out their lips and batted their eyelashes in an exaggerated pout. Just for added measure Arizona whined, "But Calliope, if you got these, we could play hide and seek." Just like that, a jolt of electricity shot straight to Callie's center and she shook her head then dropped it in defeat as she stalked toward the now smiling duo. Plopping down on the seat next to her girlfriend, Callie kicked off her shoe and snatched the offending item out of her hand mumbling, "You don't play fair." Just as she was about to put her foot into the horrible monstrosity, Sofia huffed, "Mama, can I have 5 dollars?" Callie's head snapped up to look at her daughter who stood with her arms crossed and her face in a genuine pout and saw that her girlfriend had extended her hand palm up and was wiggling her fingers toward their daughter with a knowing smirk on her face. Arching her brow she finally asked, "You weren't serious?" Arizona shook her head and laughed as she explained, "Oh god no, those are awful. But I bet Sofia five dollars I could make you try them on." Callie slumped in relief and dropped her foot as she declared, "Oh thank goodness. I didn't know how I was going to get out of that one. It's worth the 5 dollars." She took out her wallet and handed the bill over to her daughter who then slapped it into her mommy's palm. Then she glared at Arizona as she asked, "That sure of yourself huh?" Arizona stood, tucked the money in her pocket and grabbed the boxes of shoes she decided to purchase then leaned down and bit Callie's earlobe as she whispered, "I'm that sure you want to play hide and seek with me." Callie shivered then stood up and followed her girlfriend to the register enjoying the pronounced sway of her hips she knew was just for her benefit.

Two hours, a full trunk, and a very happy 8 year old later, Callie handed a red dress over the top of the dressing room door to Arizona saying, "Oooh try this one." She looked down to see her daughter eying her skeptically and shaking her head as she said disapprovingly, "I thought you knew everything about mommy." Confused by her daughter's reaction to her choice in outfit, Callie smiled and said, "I do." Sofia crossed her arms and looked at her mama as she declared, "Mommy doesn't wear red." Callie furrowed her brow and said, "Of course she does. The bathing suit she wore the other day was red." Sofia pointed at her and said, "You bought that. Mommy doesn't buy red, Mommy doesn't wear red. Ever." Arizona stood in the dressing room listening to the conversation between her girlfriend and her big mouthed daughter. It was true. She hasn't worn red in four years. Callie loved her in red, especially the red dress she once owned, oh and all the red lingerie she bought for her. Her wife always made her feel so attractive and sexy when she wore red. Except that last time. The last time she wore red, well, the last time she wore red was the last time she called Callie her wife. She hasn't owned anything red since then, she didn't have a reason to, not until the bathing suit and just like always, the way Callie looked at her, the way she touched her, it was the same as it had always been. Closing her eyes she took a deep breath and slipped on the dress her girlfriend picked for her. She smiled brightly as she took in her reflection in the mirror. The fabric clung to her body in all the right places and accentuated her breasts and ass, Callie's two favorite parts of her body. She already knew this was the dress she wanted to wear for their date.
Stepping out of the dressing room, her whole body tingled as she heard her girlfriend's gasp and saw the way she was looking at her; like she was a piece of meat and Callie was ready to devour her. Turning she asked, "Would you um, zip me up?" Speechless, Callie nodded her head and rushed to stand behind Arizona. Their gazes locked in the mirror as Callie stood behind her and nearly started drooling at the sight of the soft creamy skin that was exposed to her. If her daughter weren't standing there watching them, she would already have her hands all over this gorgeous body and there's no way that zipper would be coming up. Taking a deep breath, she placed the back of her hand against Arizona's skin and grasped the small zipper between her thumb and forefinger as she brought her hand up caressing the exquisite skin as she pulled up the zipper at an excruciatingly slow pace. A thrill shot through her as she saw the goosebumps appear on the creamy flesh and heard the blonde's breath hitch. Bending forward, she discretely licked the shell of her girlfriend's ear as she whispered, "You are so fucking sexy." Forcing herself to step back, Callie looked at Sofia and said, "See mommy looks amazing in red." Sofia beamed at her mommy, she really looked beautiful and couldn't understand why she never wore that color. But still, she didn't. Nodding her head in agreement, Sofia said, "You look so beautiful mommy, I don't understand why you don't wear red." Callie couldn't understand why their daughter kept saying that. Arizona wore red all the time, she looked fantastic in red, it made her eyes pop and her skin glow. She loved seeing her in red and Arizona knew that, she always wore red for her, oh…furrowing her brow Callie questioned, "Arizona?" Arizona had hoped her daughter would've dropped this by now, but of course, she had Callie's DNA and was like a dog with a bone. Sporting a blush almost as bright as the dress, she nodded and confirmed, "I uh, I haven't um, I haven't worn red since…um, yeah, I don't wear red anymore." Callie saw the flash of pain resonate in her girlfriend's eyes and quickly tried to recall the last time she saw her in red and felt a sharp pain in her chest as that last day in Dr. Dawson's office flashed in her mind. She stepped forward and brought her hand to brush back blonde curls from the soft alabaster skin as she said, "I'm sorry. I get it. If you don't want to…" She was cut off when a pale hand covered hers and Arizona said, "I didn't have a reason to wear it, now I do." She smiled her super-magic smile, stepped back, twirled, and asked, "What do you think?" Callie pushed the guilt away, making a note to check in with her girlfriend later, and smiled as well as she suggested, "You should get two." Arizona looked at her questioningly then shivered as Callie leaned in and nearly growled "I am going to be ripping this one to shreds." Then she nipped at her ear and left the dressing room before she followed through.
After visiting a few more stores, including another shoe store, Arizona had declared she was finished. Even if she hadn't found everything she wanted, she needed to stop. Her body was nearly vibrating with need at the way Callie kept looking at her when she tried on her outfits, kept touching her while they were looking through the racks, and kept whispering dirty things in her ear. As they were walking back to the parking lot to drop off their purchases, she realized she had lost Callie. Not physically, she was standing next to her, but her attention was on the display in the window of the store they were walking past. Following her girlfriend's gaze, she noticed the mannequins in the display had feminine body types, but they were wearing more masculine cut clothing. Looking further into the store, she noticed several displays that were similar including some male body types in feminine style clothing. Looking up at the name, she saw 'ENBY Jo's' displayed brightly at the top of the store. Each letter was fashioned from colors of various LGBTQ plus flags including the non-binary, gender-fluid, and transgender flags. Looking back to her girlfriend, she saw that same spark of curiosity and interest in wide brown eyes that she saw earlier in the salon. Bumping Callie's elbow, Arizona waited until her girlfriend looked at her then nodded her head toward the door silently telling her to go in. Callie's eyes darted from her girlfriend to the display then down to her daughter who was smiling brightly at her. Looking back to Arizona she raised her eyebrow silently questioning if she was really okay with everything. In response, Arizona huffed and brushed past her saying, "Come on Sof, let's get mama some new clothes to match her new do." As Callie entered the store and looked around, she understood what Stevie meant by an entire community like them. It's not that she wasn't aware of the LGBTQ plus community, it's just, she's lived her whole life in the heteronormative realm. Even after she came out as bi and started dating Arizona, neither of them participated in many aspects of the queer community. Most of their friends were straight, even the ones she was sure were at least bi, lived as if they were straight. They all accepted them, but couldn't relate to them, not entirely. She was starting to understand just how important that was. Looking around, she felt…comfortable, like she fit. The majority of the clothing was non-gender specific and the items that were, didn't overtly express femininity or masculinity. Taking in both customers and salespeople at various places on the spectrum her friend described, she realized she did indeed fall somewhere on that invisible line, she just needed to figure out where. She smiled as she looked up and saw her girlfriend and daughter both already had clothes in their hands waiting for her expectantly. Her heart swelled as she realized she didn't have to figure that out alone.
Callie stood in the dressing room wearing the first outfit Arizona had given her to try on. She looked down at the purple button down shirt and smiled knowing Arizona loved this color on her. As she tucked it into the black shorts, she slowly raised her gaze to look in the mirror half expecting to go through her now normal routine of twisting and tugging, criticizing, and questioning, but as she met her own eyes in the mirror, she smiled, her genuine toothy smile because the person she saw looking back at her was finally the person she felt like inside. Taking a deep breath, she opened the door to find her family waiting patiently by the door and let out a huge sigh of relief when she looked into bright blue eyes widening in surprise and saw pale pink lips mouth 'hot damn'. She nearly laughed outright when her daughter threw her arms around her legs and said, "You look very handsome mama!" Smiling down at her daughter, Callie ran her hands through her long dark hair and asked, "You like it?" Sofia tilted her head and asked, "Do you like it? Do you feel like the person you are inside now?" Callie could feel the tears burning the backs of her eyes at her daughter's question, looking over to her girlfriend and seeing the unshed tears, she could see the question had the same affect on her. Crouching down in front of the sweet little girl with the heart of gold, Callie swallowed the lump in her throat as she answered, "I do feel like the person I am inside. Is…is that okay?" Sofia looked up at her mommy then back to her mama and asked, "Are we still going to do everything we used to do?" Callie nodded and said, "Of course we are baby girl. I love you so so much and nothing will ever change that, how I dress, how I feel inside, nothing will ever be more important to me than you." "And mommy?" The little girl asked quietly. Callie looked up to Arizona and held out her hand, smiling when her girlfriend stepped to her side and their fingers were immediately intertwined. She tried to express all the love she felt for both of her girls through her eyes as she responded, "And mommy. Nothing comes before my family." For good measure, she added, "Ever again." Feeling the hand in hers tighten and her daughter throw her arms around her neck, she knew she said the right thing.

As they pulled up under the awning outside The Aria Hotel waiting for the valet, Callie leaned over to Arizona and whispered, "Ya know, Daddy isn't in town, we could always stay in the penthouse tonight." Arizona felt a shiver go down her spine at the idea and would normally take her girlfriend up on the offer, but not this time. Leaning forward, she captured her lips in a soft kiss then pulled back and responded, "As appealing as that offer is, you and I both know what is going to happen once we're alone and well…I want that to happen at home. I just…the first time, I want to be at home." Hearing her answer, Callie felt her heart flip yet again, both at the sentiment and at the fact that Arizona referred to the house as home. She smiled her mega-watt smile and leaned in to brush their lips together once more as she whispered, "I love that idea." Sitting back in her seat, she looked into the rearview mirror at her daughter and asked, "Did you get everything packed into your new bag? Toothbrush? Toothpaste? Under…" "Yes mama, I got everything." Sofia huffed and rolled her eyes. Seeing this Callie became irritated and said, "You could just come home with us if you want to get an attit…OW!" Callie looked over at Arizona trying to figure out why the hell she just punched her. Seeing the daggers shooting out of azure eyes, she realized the threat she just made and corrected, "We'll see what the Colonel thinks about you rolling your eyes at your mother." Hearing this, Sofia sat up straight and quickly said, "I'm sorry mama, yes I packed everything." She knew her grandpa would never hurt her, but he could be scary. Callie chuckled and said, "She got that authority thing from you." Just as Arizona was about to reply, she heard a sharp knock on her window and choked back a laugh as she saw Callie sit up straight in her seat and roll down the window as she spit out, "Colonel sir, we ah, we were just…" "Hi daddy, we will be in as soon as the valet comes." In typical Daniel Robbins fashion, he nodded once and walked away without saying a word. Arizona heard her girlfriend expel the breath she was holding and asked, "You were saying?" Callie slumped in her seat and muttered, "Shut up."
Entering the hotel lobby, Arizona smiled as Callie strode assertively toward the front desk waving at employees and greeting guests she apparently knew. Though she noticed the change in her girlfriend's attitude this morning after their conversation, as the day progressed, she seemed to grow more confident and sure of herself. She was positive Sofia's talk with Stevie went a long way with putting Callie more at ease with her self-discovery. Then the shopping trip in which Callie finally let go of her inhibitions and allowed herself to buy the clothes she wanted rather than the clothes she felt she should wear was the icing on the cake. The woman walking towards her now with her cropped black hair, dark chocolate eyes shining with certainty, bare red lips stretched into her million-dollar smile, wearing a light blue button down shirt tucked into navy dress pants was radiating self-assuredness and oozing sex appeal. When their gazes met from across the room and her girlfriend winked at her then raised that sexy eyebrow in her direction, Arizona felt the tightening in her abdomen as her clit started throbbing, her heart started racing, her mouth went dry and anticipation was thrumming through her entire body. She was certain if she didn't look away, she would start drooling. That thought was only validated when she felt a finger under her chin pushing her jaw upward as she heard, "It's not polite to stare dear, your father and I taught you better than that." Snapping out of her lust induced haze, Arizona jumped and threw her arms around her mother whose eyes were twinkling with amusement. "Mama!" the blonde squealed as she squeezed the older woman tighter.
Hearing Arizona's declaration from her seat in the lobby, Sofia jumped out of her chair and into the Colonel's waiting arms. "How's my little soldier?" Sofia giggled and tried her best salute as she said, "I'm awesome sir." Daniel smiled at his only grandchild who reminded him so much of his own daughter even though they weren't biologically related. This little one was Robbins through and through. Switching places, Arizona went to hug her dad and Sofia wrapped her arms around her grandma's waist and snuggled close. Her mommies gave good hugs, but grandma hugs were the best. Barb looked up then and saw Callie walking toward them with her eyes glued to Arizona. She smiled at the love she saw resonating there and held her arms out to her ex? future? daughter in law, "My goodness Callie you are still as stunning as ever. Look at you, you're gorgeous, and your hair, it suits you." Callie could feel the blush creeping up her neck to her cheeks, she wasn't used to this type of motherly affection and while it was welcome and comforting, it was slightly embarrassing. Arizona looked at her girlfriend and mother then smiled and complained, "Wait, I get a lesson on manners and Callie gets compliments? What the he…" "Arizona!" Snapping her mouth shut, Arizona looked at her father who was glaring down at her and hung her head as she muttered, "Sorry mama." As they all headed toward the restaurant, Callie tugged on her girlfriend's arm and smirked as she chided, "YOU were saying?" Arizona pouted at her and grumbled, "Shut up."
Dinner conversation flowed smoothly consisting of the normal catching up, talking about Daniel's contract with various security companies, Callie filled them in on Fresh START and her research, Arizona bragged about her leg and talked about the Robbins-Herman Center and Sofia talked about everything. Throughout dinner Daniel was observing the interactions between his daughter and former daughter in law. He noticed the way they kept stealing glances at each other, held hands nearly throughout the entire meal unless they were cutting something or gesturing with both hands, handed things off to one another without so much as a glance, and finished each other's sentences. He also noticed the happiness in his granddaughter's eyes; the way she looked lovingly at both parents as they did each of those things. He hoped what he was seeing was the real thing and the two didn't just get caught up in the excitement of the move. Finally, as the plates were being taken away, he cleared his throat and looked to his wife who shifted her gaze to both women then turned to Sofia and said, "How about we take a quick walk to the little girl's room before dessert?" Sofia nodded and happily followed her grandmother. Feeling Callie stiffen beside her, Arizona dropped her hand to her thigh and started rubbing soothing circles. Finally Daniel said, "Callie, I don't agree with what you did, walking away from your family." Callie knew this was coming and before she could form a response, Arizona proclaimed, "I do." Both sets of eyes snapped in her direction.
Arizona refused to allow her father to sit here and destroy everything just because he felt the need to be overprotective. Looking him in the eye she declared, "First of all daddy, this is not your concern, but because Callie is honorable, she will sit back and allow you to say what you need to say no matter how it makes her feel." Feeling Callie's hand on her leg, not sure if it was to stop her or support her she continued, "But I can't allow that. I won't allow that. Callie's honor is what led her to walk away. She knew we were destroying each other. She knew if we kept going, we were going to do irreparable damage to each other and to our daughter. But you have no idea how hard Calliope fought for me, for our marriage. We were both drowning in our pain and anger and though we loved each other deeply, we couldn't see past our own hurt to get back to that point. We tried, we fought hard to get to a good place, but every time we did, something else would happen. We weren't just losing each other; we were losing ourselves." Taking Callie's hand in hers she looked her in the eye and said, "I won't lie and say it didn't hurt, but I know you didn't make that decision lightly and I know you were hurting too." At her girlfriend's nod, Arizona continued, "We made a lot of mistakes and it took us a long time to get here, but we are here, we have found our way back to each other. We reinvented ourselves, we became the people, the mothers, the surgeons we wanted to be. In doing that, in healing on our own, we discovered our love for one another never died. Over the last several weeks, we have laughed more, done more, enjoyed each other more, supported each other more, we have communicated better, worked together to heal each other's wounds, shared more intimate moments…We found each other again, we found the joy." Callie was in a dreamlike fog, she was vaguely aware of her father in law's presence because all she could see was the love in the crystal blue eyes shining back at her, the clinking of finely polished silver on the exquisite China was but an echo because all she could hear was the conviction in the lilting voice, the sincerity in the words that sounded like music to her ears, the nerves she felt moments ago were replaced by a warmth emanating from her soul. Seeing the tears run down the creamy soft skin, Callie reached up and caught them with her thumb as she said, "We found the freedom. I have never felt more free, more capable, more…alive, than I feel when I am in your arms, when you are by my side. I love you Arizona Robbins, I have always loved you, but I can honestly say, I have never been more in love with you than I am right here, right now, at this very moment." Arizona's breath hitched as she heard those words, never has anything sounded so beautiful to her as the love of her life proclaiming her love in return. She knew it, she felt it, but hearing it said out loud, hearing it said with such certainty, it melted her heart. Lifting her hands to wipe at the tears staining reddened tan cheeks, she proclaimed, "I am so in love with you Calliope Torres." Smiling, both women brought their lips together pouring everything they just said, everything they felt into a searing, passionate kiss.
Daniel sat quietly listening to his daughter defend the love of her life, though there was no need for it. No he didn't agree with Callie's choice to walk away, but what he hadn't gotten the chance to say is he understood why she did it. His daughter's infidelity was dishonorable and he couldn't fathom what would make her do such a thing. But hearing her now, seeing she was finally fighting for her family, for the woman she loved, seeing she was once again the person he raised her to be, he couldn't help but swell with pride and be grateful that Callie saw what they had both lost. He watched as the two women declared their love for one another and if he were being honest, he was more emotional now than he was at their wedding. It's one thing to see two people come together, but it's another to see two people experience everything these two have been through and find each other again. Clearing his throat both to swallow the emotion and to politely break up this public display of affection, Daniel watched as both women separated then turned a bright red as they realized he was still there. Seeing his daughter immediately tense once again he said, "Stand down Arizona. Callie, as much as it pains me to say it, my daughter was right, your relationship is none of my business. It is very clear you have worked your way back to one another and the only thing I have to say about that is, welcome back." Then he looked from one woman to the other and smiled as he said, "Both of you. It's good to see that spark again Arizona." Both women smiled then and replied, "Thanks Daniel." "Thanks daddy."

After another hour of conversation and dessert both mothers disapproved of since they already had ice cream earlier in the day, Callie and Arizona said their good-byes and walked their family to the bank of elevators. Callie was certain she didn't remember a thing after she and Arizona had their impromptu heart to heart. The only thought running through her mind after that was just how fast they could get out of there so she could show her girlfriend exactly how much she loved her and all the ways she was going to do that. As they turned to leave, instead of leading them toward the exit, Callie took Arizona's hand and pulled her toward a door that said, 'Employees Only'. Taking her wallet out of her pocket, Callie tapped it on the panel hanging by the door and was granted immediate access. Without warning, Arizona was pulled inside and pushed up against the door. Before she could ask what was happening or where they were, she felt Callie's body pressed against hers as her tongue slid effortlessly into her open mouth. She moaned as she felt Callie's tongue caress the roof of her mouth and felt the wetness instantly pool at her core. Whimpering, she rotated her hips searching for much needed friction against her throbbing clit which was quickly granted as she felt Callie's muscular thigh slip between her legs. Arizona brought her arms up and wrapped one around the back of Callie's head to pull her closer and slipped the other between their bodies and began to unbutton the light blue fabric that has been driving her crazy all night. Slipping both hands under the open shirt, she flattened her palms against heated caramel skin and slid the shirt over toned shoulders and arms letting it hang from the pants since she didn't waste the time untucking it. Sliding her hands back up the bare arms, she quickly moved inward and cupped both heaving breasts in her hands kneading and pinching causing Callie to buck her hips and increase the pressure on her clit.
Callie was lost in a lustful frenzy. She wanted to touch, lick, suck, and bite every inch of the delicious body before her. Needing to take a breath, she broke the kiss and started licking her way down the long pale neck until she reached the sweet spot just behind her girlfriend's ear. Dropping both hands, she grabbed handfuls of the tight black dress and pulled upward until she felt skin. Slipping her hands underneath, she pushed the dress upward and nearly growled when she felt nothing but smooth bare skin. Surprised, she stepped back and saw nothing but a thin patch of blonde curls directing her to where she wanted to be most. Still holding the dress up on Arizona's hips, Callie dropped to her knees and was enveloped in the spicy sweet scent of her girlfriend's arousal, she could see the wetness seeping out of glistening pink lips and began shaking with need. Never in her life had she wanted anyone so badly. Leaning forward, she placed soft kisses on each hip bone, outlined the thin curls with her tongue and finally rested her lips on the very tip of Arizona's mound. She could feel the body in her hands vibrating. She nearly cried when Arizona started rolling her hips almost as if she were going in search of her tongue. "Calliope, fuck. Please, please touch me." Callie looked up into pleading blue eyes and though she knew she shouldn't, she stuck out her tongue and swiped at the dripping lips, groaning at the taste she had been craving for four long years. She closed her eyes and rested her forehead against her girlfriend's rippling stomach trying to calm herself. This is not how either of them wanted their first time, in a dirty supply closet in her father's hotel. Finally feeling like she could stand again, she lowered Arizona's dress and smoothed it out, leaned in and kissed her fabric covered mound and stood up slowly.
As their eyes met, both women smiled then broke into a fit of giggles as Callie said, "I almost just fucked you senseless in a supply closet." Arizona shrugged her shoulders and said, "Wouldn't be the first time." Making them both laugh harder. Sobering, Callie lifted her hand and caressed Arizona's cheek as she said, "But it is the first time, the second first time and we've already crossed the line. I want to love you properly Arizona, I want to take my time and show you how much I love you, how much I've missed you." Arizona rested their heads together and whispered, "Then take me home and love me Calliope."
