Callie pushed her way into the scrub room after Arizona, yanked off her gown, gloves, and mask and threw them into the bin. She stomped over to the sink, shoved her foot on the pedal to turn on the water, ripped open a bar of soap, and watched through the window as her patient was wheeled out of the O.R. Her pregnant patient. Her pregnant patient who was minutes from receiving anesthesia without proper care or monitoring of the fetus. Her pregnant patient who was sent up without appropriate lab work. Finally giving up all pretense of scrubbing out, she tossed the soap into the sink with a thud, stepped back, wrapped her fingers around the edge of the cool metal and hung her head trying to get a grip on her anger. She mentally reviewed every step of her emergency protocol, every policy she had in place to ensure this didn't happen. She knew this wasn't her fault, not directly, but being the chief, the owner, the responsibility fell on her regardless. Pushing off the sink, she started pacing around the small room. She was livid and what pissed her off the most was she had no place to direct her anger. She didn't even know which of her staff she was mad at and would be damned if she went off half-cocked yelling at anyone in a ten mile radius. That was the old Callie, this Callie could hold her temper, this Callie knew when it was and wasn't appropriate to unleash it, this Callie knew her words said in anger could cut like any scalpel.
Clenching her fists, she tried to reign in her emotions, focus on what was important…her patient. Her patient who was safe and resting comfortably and would receive the proper care because of Arizona. Arizona, she didn't even know the other surgeon was here, let alone seeing patients. Looking up, her weary dark chocolate orbs met understanding blue, and she couldn't hold back the tears when the smaller woman opened her arms to her. Without hesitation she went to her girlfriend, wrapped her arms around her waist, rested her forehead on her shoulder and allowed the tears to flow. Tears of frustration, exhaustion, and anger trailed down tan cheeks while strong pale arms held her tight, rubbing soothing circles on her back, massaging her scalp, and whispering words of encouragement and love in her ear.
The moment the door behind them swung closed, Arizona braced herself for the wrath of Callie Torres. She knew she wasn't the target, for which she was extremely thankful but she also knew the ortho surgeon's temper when things didn't go as they should. She lashed out at everyone and everything until she did hit her target. Incompetence was something neither of them had a high tolerance for and when it put a patient at risk, it was unacceptable. Arizona stood off to the side and watched Callie's face as she peered through the window. She could see the myriad of emotions cross her features as she thought of all the possible outcomes if she had followed through with the surgery without receiving the labs. She knew if something happened to that mother or her baby, her girlfriend would never forgive herself. She also knew the ortho surgeon, the chief, the owner was running through every policy she had in place trying to figure out where it went wrong. When Callie pushed off the sink and started pacing, she waited for the onslaught, the rant she knew was coming, the Spanish curse words to fly out of those gorgeous lips. What she didn't expect was the silence, the controlled anger, the deliberate breathing. What happened next was something she didn't anticipate as Callie turned to look at her with all the anger, frustration, exhaustion, and fear swirling in her dark chocolate eyes almost pleading with her to do something.
Without hesitation, Arizona opened her arms to offer solace, peace, and strength to the distraught surgeon. As soon as Callie stepped closer, she wrapped her arms around her as tight as she could and held her as she let out all her emotions in the form of tears. Removing the familiar red and grey scrub cap, Arizona ran her fingers through messy black curls and soothed, "Shhh, I know honey. We caught it. It's okay. It's okay sweetie." The blonde's words were a balm to Callie's exhausted soul and finally her nerves started to settle, and she relaxed into her girlfriend's touch. When she finished crying, Callie lifted her head, but Arizona could still feel some of the tension in her body and see the emotions swirling in her beautiful expressive eyes. She lifted her hands and slowly massaged the taller woman's scalp and temples watching as her eyes fluttered closed, the muscles in her face relaxed, the worry lines on her forehead slowly disappeared, her jaw unclenched, and her lips parted slightly. Unable to stop herself, she leaned forward and captured those full red lips in a soft chaste kiss. Pulling back, she saw the beginnings of a smile and when the dark chocolate eyes appeared once again, they were clear of the emotion swimming there just moments ago. Arizona offered a soft smile and said, "There you are." Callie's lips curved into a bright smile showing just how happy she was to see Arizona, to have her support, and responded, "Hi." Arizona leaned forward and stole another kiss then asked, "How about we go to your office, relax for a bit, and see about getting you something to eat?" Before Callie could respond to the question, her stomach answered for her by grumbling loud enough for both women to hear, causing the brunette to blush slightly and the blonde to giggle and respond, "There's my answer then." Callie stepped back, immediately missing the contact and reached for Arizona's hand, smiling when their fingers were intertwined instantly.
Walking toward the bank of elevators, still holding hands, they passed two scrub nurses who appeared to be leaving and waved as they said, "Goodnight Dr. Torres, goodnight Dr. Robbins." Both women returned the sentiment and continued walking with Callie thinking nothing of it since many of her staff members were already aware of who Arizona was because her picture was hanging in the lobby. She turned to Arizona with her phone in her hand and asked, "Is pizza okay? I was going to text Lorraine and have her order our usual and a few pizzas for the staff who are still here from this morning." Arizona nodded and answered, "That sounds perfect. I haven't eaten either, I actually came to see if you wanted to get some lunch." Callie's eyes widened in surprise as she asked, "You've been here since lunch time?" Arizona nodded in answer. She didn't think now was the best time to tell the ortho surgeon what she walked into or how she had to hand one of the residents his ass, so she just kept quiet. While Callie let her guard down with her just a minute ago, that was rare and she knew the Latina's emotions would come out as anger with anyone else. Callie looked the blonde up and down and said, "Well, that explains the scrubs." Arizona laughed and said, "Oh, I looked amazing until I set a kid's arm and he puked all over me." Callie threw back her head and laughed as she asked, "You haven't done the grunt work in a while have you Dr. Robbins?" Arizona chuckled, shook her head, and replied, "I nearly forgot the joys of working with kids. So thanks for that." Callie squeezed her hand and pulled her closer then leaned down to kiss her cheek as she murmured, "Thanks for stepping in today." Arizona smiled and inwardly squirmed, she knew she would have to come clean, but later.
Just as she pushed the button to call the elevator, Callie heard someone call out to her. A young man in a lab coat and light green scrubs indicating he was from radiology was rushing toward them with a folder in his hands, calling out, "I have the lab reports you requested Dr. Torres." Though he knew he did nothing wrong, the man stood nervously and waited to be reprimanded for not having them sooner. Radiology always gets blamed when a test isn't ordered. Callie opened the file and sure enough, Julie's pregnancy test was positive, which they already knew, what they didn't know was she was anemic and diabetic and apparently being treated for neither based on her numbers. This only complicated things further. She passed the file to Arizona so she could read and smiled when the blonde pulled out the tablet and started typing furiously, probably ordering the proper medications. She then furrowed her brow as she wondered why she hadn't received the report before now. She's dealt with many lab techs who worked at their own pace, but she never had to wait for anything from her own staff. For the sake of being fair, instead of lashing out, she asked the young man, "Josh, when did you first receive the samples from this patient?" Without hesitation the tech responded, "Just now, well 30 minutes ago when you sent them to me asking that the results be rushed." Callie nodded and asked, "Did you receive any samples today that were not labeled, any mix-ups among patients?" Josh shook his head and responded, "No ma'am. It got a little backed up for a while, but after Dr. Robbins came and spoke to us, things began running smoothly again." Surprised, Callie looked at the fetal surgeon with an arched brow and sent her a look that said they would speak about that later, then asked, "Do you know what caused the backup Josh?" The lab tech was worried this question would come up, he never liked to snitch on a colleague, but when asked directly, he wouldn't lie, especially to the chief. He nodded and answered, "Um, yes ma'am, Dr. Thomas kept sending patients to x-ray and telling us to push them to the head of the line though protocol called for us to focus on the patients who needed surgical attention first. We were trying to do both, as well as the labs until Dr. Robbins assured us what we were doing initially was what you asked of us and until we heard from one of you, we were to focus on red tags first." Callie nodded and said, "Thank you, Josh. Are you all caught up now?" The lab tech nodded and answered, "Yes ma'am." Callie looked at her watch then offered, "Go tell your crew they did a great job today and you can all head home. The evening staff will be here soon." Josh smiled at his boss and replied, "Thank you chief." He turned to Arizona and said, "Thank you for your support today." Arizona smiled and nodded as the man quickly walked away.
When the elevator doors opened, Callie saw her PA and one of her residents step through the doors looking as if they just left a war zone. Their dark grey scrubs were stained with blood and who knows what else, their hair mussed, and their faces showed evidence of their exhaustion. As the men looked up and noticed the two women in the hall, they immediately straightened up, almost as if coming to attention. They both looked to Callie first and simultaneously said, "Hello Chief." Callie had to stop herself from looking behind her for Bailey; she still wasn't used to the title, or the respect just her presence warranted. Smiling she returned, "Dr. Clark, Dr. Harding. Are you done for the day?" Both men nodded then her PA, Dr. Clark looked to Arizona and held out his hand as he said, "It was a pleasure working with you today Dr. Robbins. Thank you so much for straightening things out." Both men then looked at Callie sheepishly and she could swear they nearly ran to the locker room.
Stepping onto the elevator, Callie pushed the button for the lobby and leaned against the side wall pulling Arizona to rest against her. She bent down and connected their lips together briefly, then pulled back, stopped the elevator, and asked, "So Dr. Robbins came out to play today huh?" Arizona blushed slightly, lifted her hand up and brought her thumb and forefinger together as she said, "Maybe just a little bit." Callie chuckled and asked, "Dr. Sweetheart or Dr. Hardcore?" Arizona threw her head back and laughed wholeheartedly at that then said, "Maybe a little bit of both." Callie smiled and asked, "What happened?" Arizona lifted her arms to tangle around Callie's neck and leaned her body weight into her as she explained, "Like I said, I came to see if I could take you to lunch, but the lobby was standing room only, the waiting room was the same, all the patient rooms were full, and Lorraine looked like she was about to lose her mind. I clipped on my badge and asked how I could help." Callie narrowed her eyes and stared down the blonde, she knew there was more to the story. While Arizona was very type-A, she wouldn't just come in and take charge if it wasn't warranted. Arizona stared back refusing to be intimidated by the Torres glare, except she forgot how truly frightening…and hot…it could be. Huffing she said, "Fine! It was a mess; I knew damn well you had an emergency protocol and would have put it in place today. Apparently, one of your residents went rogue, decided to take charge, and threw your plan out the window. I had Lorraine gather the residents, the PA, and any surgical nurse or NP available. I reminded them of your protocol, set up the treatment stations, and reassigned staff. I put the nurses on all the green tag patients doing sutures and cleaning wounds while the PA, residents, and I saw to the yellow tags and cleared the lobby and waiting room. When Maria told me radiology was backed up, I went up there to find out why. Josh told me the same thing he just told you, so I told him to go back to your original orders unless he heard from you or me directly." Callie chuckled at the thought of her girlfriend commanding her staff, she was sorry she missed it, assertive Arizona was sexy. She tightened her grip around the smaller woman's waist and said, "I'm sorry I missed that. Watching you take control is hot. Thank you." Arizona leaned in and captured her lips in what she thought would be a quick peck to say 'you're welcome' until Callie's tongue glided across her lips in an attempt to deepen the kiss which she gladly allowed. Both women moaned and pressed closer together. This was actually the first real kiss they shared in three days and neither realized how much they missed it or needed it until they had it again.
Feeling Callie's hand slide under her scrub top, Arizona groaned and reluctantly broke the kiss. Looking into confused brown eyes, she brought her hand up to caress Callie's soft tan cheek and explained, "I want nothing more than to let you have your way with me, but we have less than two hours and you need to eat and relax before we go back into that OR." Callie's eyes twinkled with mischief as she responded, "I was trying to ea…" She was cut off by a small pale hand covering her mouth. Arizona pushed fully into her and whispered, "Do not finish that sentence Calliope. I promise you can do anything you want with me as soon as we are finished here. But right now, Julie needs you." Callie's expressive eyes started to show understanding before they lit up again and Arizona felt a warm wet tongue brush across her palm and instantly snatched it away. "Oh my god, did you just lick me?" Callie wiggled her eyebrows and smirked as she shrugged and said, "Preview." She then turned and pushed the button to restart the elevator and laughed as Arizona stood in the middle of the floor dumbfounded.
As they stepped off the elevator, they nearly ran into Maria who was accompanied by the resident Arizona recognized as Dr. Thomas. He still had an arrogance about him, as if he could talk his way out of anything. Maria looked at the two surgeons and explained, "We were just coming up to speak to you. It appears Dr. Thomas here decided to skip the labs on several patients because in his opinion, teenage girls between the ages of 15 and 18 SHOULD NOT be having sex so they weren't of childbearing age, therefore he didn't find it necessary to run a pregnancy test." The head nurse watched as both surgeons turned bright red and stiffened with anger and wasn't sure which of them was going to blow first. She knew her boss had a temper and saw it on rare occasions, but after the altercation the other surgeon had with the resident earlier, she knew at this point, it was a toss-up.
Finally, Arizona spoke with an eerie calm that sent shivers up the spines of those around her, "Dr. Thomas, as the resident in charge, you should…" "What?" Callie interjected angrily and put her hand up as she looked at Arizona and asked, "Who told you he was in charge?" The arrogant man finally had the intelligence to look embarrassed as he turned bright red and hung his head, unable to make eye contact with either woman. Arizona pointed to the man and said, "He did, after he asked me who the hell I thought I was when I reinstated your emergency protocol, which he clearly chose not to follow, throwing your entire staff off course, and putting a mother and baby at risk in the process." Callie swore she could feel her blood pressure rising as she looked at the resident who was barely hanging on by a thread before all this happened. She stepped up so they were nose to nose and growled, "I'm sorry, you did what now?" Before he could answer, Callie decided she really shouldn't be dealing with this as angry as she was. Knowing she was completely within her rights she said, "As of right now, you are on a three day suspension without pay for ignoring emergency protocol, rushing non-emergent patients ahead of surgical cases, and putting a patient and her unborn baby at risk by disregarding policy. I will see you Monday morning at 9:00 am, at which time we will review your personnel file and determine if you should continue your residency in this program." The man lifted his head and started to argue until he saw the look in his chief's eye then nodded and said, "Yes ma'am."
Maria smirked as she watched the man walk away with his tail between his legs and said, "He looked the same way after Arizona was done with him earlier. I bet you two were a joy to work with back in Seattle." The two women looked at each other and despite the tension they both felt, laughed at the comment. Arizona knew Callie was going to want further explanation and seeing how pissed she already was at the resident, she decided to change the topic to something more pleasant and asked, "So was your husband able to pick up Sofia okay? We had you on the approved pick up list, didn't we Callie?" Knowing Arizona deliberately changed the subject so as not to upset her further, she decided to play along and responded, "Yeah, we had them both on the list in case something like this happened. Thank you, do you need us to call the sitter?" Maria also realized the blonde was trying to turn Callie's focus elsewhere and respected her all the more for it. She knew her boss still had a long surgery to tackle and didn't need to be upset while she was needing to focus on her patient. Smiling brightly she responded, "Are you kidding? Then I would need your services after I was mauled by two eight year olds for trying to separate them." All three women laughed and Arizona thanked her then turned to head into the office realizing she should get off her leg for a while if she were going to spend the rest of the night in the O.R.
After being updated by her head nurse and finding out Arizona pretty much kept the place afloat while the attendings were all in surgery, Callie retreated to her office and was surprised to find the blonde sitting on the far end of the sofa sans pants taking off her robotic leg. Raising an eyebrow in question, she quickly reached into a cabinet, pulled out an ice pack, and took it to Arizona. Sitting next to her she activated the pack and placed it on the residual limb then asked, "Is it giving you problems?" Arizona shook her head and tapped her other leg indicating she wanted the brunette to lie down, smiled when she did so, and answered, "No, not at all. I figured out a while back that I'm less prone to swelling and pain if I am proactive and give it a break when I know I'll be on my feet for a long period of time. Though I am not sure I need to with this leg, it feels great." Callie lay on her side with her cheek resting on Arizona's right leg and raised her hand to gently massage the shortened limb. She smiled as one of Arizona's hands tangled in her hair and the other lightly scratched her back just like she liked it. Both women let out a contented sigh as the mere presence of the other woman calmed their nerves and allowed them to fully relax.
After a few minutes of silence, Callie recalled what Arizona said earlier and asked, "So he really asked you who the hell you thought you were?" Arizona lifted her head off the back of the couch and said, "He mumbled it to no one in particular actually. But I heard him and told him who I thought I was shouldn't concern him as much as who I know I am then spouted some crap about being double certified, more experienced, and saving his ass from you." Callie chuckled and said, "I always loved it when you laid down the sunshine and rainbows and ripped someone a new one." Arizona chuckled and retorted, "Unless it was aimed at you." Callie turned onto her back, looked up into amuse blue eyes, and said, "Nope, it was still hot." She then reached up and pulled the blonde toward her until their lips connected. Pulling herself up, Callie quickly straddled Arizona's lap and deepened the kiss. As their tongues connected, she felt the familiar fluttering in her abdomen and wished like hell they had more time. After Arizona's wake-up call which she never got to reciprocate; they had only shared a few kisses since the blonde's parents arrived and she was craving the contact. Apparently her girlfriend felt the same way regardless of what she said in the elevator, as she moaned into the kiss and slipped her hands into the waistband of Callie's scrubs and under her boy shorts to caress her bare ass. The brunette smiled into the kiss, she had no idea what this thing was with her ass, but she wasn't complaining. Just as she slid her hands under Arizona's scrub top and scraped her nails up her rib cage, she heard a sharp knock on her door making both of them groan and quickly jump apart. Throwing the blanket on the back of her couch over Arizona's lap, she looked to the blonde for approval, then called out, "Come in."
Maria stepped into the room carefully balancing a pizza box with the smaller salad container and two cans of pop stacked on top. Setting them on the small table in the center of the room, she turned to talk to the two women not even flinching at the sight of the prosthetic leaning against the end of the couch which Arizona made note of. Addressing the blonde she said, "Arizona, your last patient, Kim, she's been discharged but doesn't want to leave her friend here alone." Arizona rubbed her hands over her face, she had nearly forgotten about the other girl in her haste to get to Callie. Looking up she asked, "Has anyone from their group home been contacted?" Maria nodded, "The social worker was here and took a few of the others. She tried to convince Kim to go with her, but she didn't have any luck. She told me the two girls had formed a pretty strong bond. Apparently, Kim lost her parents at a young age and has been in and out of the system, but Julie is new, just lost both of her parents in a car accident last year and clung to Kim to help her adjust." Callie let out a sigh and asked, "What are her injuries?" Arizona responded, "She had a pretty deep cut on her arm and possible broken wrist. I didn't really examine her before she asked about Julie." Callie looked at Maria who was already tapping on her tablet as if she knew what was coming next. The ortho surgeon said, "Put her in a room, get her cleaned up, fed, and try to convince her to take her pain meds. Tell her Arizona and I will come talk to her as soon as we are finished with her friend, but it's going to be several hours." Maria nodded and said, "Done. Lorraine is sitting with her right now. They've taken quite a liking to each other." Arizona and Callie both smiled at this. The older lady seemed like the nurturing type. Looking at her watch, Maria reminded, "You've got a little under an hour before you need to go back in there." Callie nodded and thanked her nurse then watched as she left the room shutting the door behind her.
Callie leaned over and started to open the boxes then remembered neither of them scrubbed out and Arizona just had her hands down her pants and grabbed one of the many bottles of hand sanitizer she had sitting around. Squirting a small amount into her hand, she held it out so she could do the same for the other woman. Handing the blonde a slice of pizza, she opened only one can of pop knowing the perky blonde neither needed nor would finish a whole can of the sugary substance. She placed the pop between her legs, the salad on Arizona's thigh, grabbed her own slice, sat back on the couch, and took a bite moaning in satisfaction. Arizona huffed at the sound and Callie turned to say something then noticed the darkening of the blue eyes. She arched her perfectly manicured brow and Arizona responded, "Okay, you're wearing scrubs, you just yelled at someone, you were straddling my lap, I had my hand on your ass for the first time in three days and you moaning is not helping my situation any." Callie leaned over and brushed their lips together then leaned back and said, "I miss you too and don't think for one minute I have forgotten you promised to let me have my way with you." She then winked and took a bite of her pizza knowing exactly what effect she had on her girlfriend because she was struggling to contain her need as well.
Trying to get her mind off all the dirty things she wanted to do to the hot, sexy brunette sitting mere inches away from her, Arizona took a bite of her pizza then asked, "Tell me about your plan, walk me through it." Feeling much more settled now that she spent some much needed time with the woman she loved, got a chance to get off her feet, and had real food in her stomach, Callie pulled up the scans on her tablet and looked them over once again. After studying them for a few minutes she said, "I'm not as worried about the left leg, I can insert an intramedullary rod into the femur and it should heal nicely. The right leg though, that looks like the one that was caught between the wheel-well and the seat." She handed the tablet over and pointed out the fragmented pieces of bone that were currently just lying there amongst the nerves and muscles. "This bone is just too shattered to try to rebuild it, but with no deterioration to the muscle or damage to the other bones, I just can't justify amputation, especially now that I know she is pregnant. The recovery is hard enough on a person with an amputation, but to add a pregnancy to that…" She trailed off and watched as Arizona studied the scans and tilted her head as she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth. She tried not to tense up as her words registered in her own ears. Did she really just explain to Arizona that recovery from an amputation was difficult or the effects it could have on a pregnancy were dangerous? She knew this wasn't the same person she was married to at the end, but how could she not respond to that?
Arizona was well aware of what Callie said. She was also aware she was awaiting the backlash. Three years ago, she would have assumed her ex-wife was talking down to her and responded angrily that she knew exactly what an amputation could do to a person. But right now, much like the other night when Callie dumped them both in the pool, the slip made her feel good. It made her feel like they were no longer walking on eggshells when it came to the leg. She knew without a doubt Callie hadn't forgotten; just like she knew she wasn't stating the obvious. She just wasn't focused on the leg. She didn't see the leg first. She was in doctor mode, an expert in her field speaking to a fellow surgeon. Handing back the tablet, the blonde asked, "So titanium rod? Give her a new bone?" Callie thought about it for a moment and responded, "That's what I was thinking. It can't hurt to try. The structure is there and I wouldn't have to rebuild anything, just make sure we clean it out really well so there's no damage or infection." Arizona nodded then looked at the clock to see how much time they had, grabbed another slice of pizza, and sat back, responding, "Sounds like a plan. I don't suppose you have a fetal monitor so I can help out do you? I could work on cleaning out the right leg while you do your magic on the left. Way more fun than holding a wand to an abdomen for 6 plus hours." Callie looked at her girlfriend warily. At first she thought she was deflecting, avoiding the obvious, but when she saw the satisfied smile on the blonde's face, she realized she hadn't offended her; just the opposite actually, she made her feel whole, normal like one doctor talking to another doctor, not an ortho surgeon talking to an amputee. Looking at the clock herself, Callie removed the salad from Arizona's leg, laid down on the couch and returned to her position on her lap smiling when a soft hand immediately started drawing designs on her back. Remembering she was asked a question, she answered, "Actually, I do. We never had to use it before, but my wife's a fetal surgeon, she would never forgive me if I didn't have these things for this exact reason." Arizona's hand holding the pizza froze midair halfway to her open mouth at Callie's words, apparently she didn't even catch her own mistake, she also didn't catch the huge super-magic smile that bloomed across the blonde's face.

Stepping into the scrub room, Arizona reached into the pocket on the leg of her scrub pants and pulled out both the scrub cap she was wearing earlier and Callie's signature grey and red scrub cap she'd worn since the day she became an attending at Seattle Grace Mercy West. Seeing that Callie had not followed her in, she quickly donned the plain black fabric wishing it was her own pink floral cap. She leaned against the sink waiting for the other surgeon as she stared at the worn piece of fabric in her hand. She was actually a little surprised when she walked into the OR and found Callie still wore this scrub cap, she truly thought she'd have replaced it as soon as she moved to her new hospital in New York and left all things Seattle behind. As she ran the soft material through her fingers, she allowed her mind to wander. Callie opened the door to the scrub room after speaking to a nurse about the fetal monitor to find Arizona leaning against the sink looking down at her hands, a soft secret smile on her face. Following the blonde's gaze, she noticed she was holding her scrub cap and realized exactly where her mind was. Stepping closer, she reached out with both hands and covered the small pale fingers that were fidgeting with the familiar fabric. As cerulean blue eyes met dark brown, both women were transported back in time.
Walking into her apartment, Callie couldn't wait to tell her newly declared girlfriend that not only did she get her job back, but she didn't have to beg AND she was an attending! "Arizona? Hey, are you here?" Feeling slightly disappointed, Callie walked toward her bedroom to change her clothes and wait for the hot blonde who had taken to sharing her bed every night. Granted, she never thought she'd even have a girlfriend, but it just felt so right when it came to the blonde bombshell. Smiling now, she decided she might just put on something sexy and wait in the bedroom for her arrival. Opening the door, she was stopped in her tracks by the most amazing sight she had ever seen. In the middle of her bed with her legs folded in front of her, wearing nothing but that super-magic smile and her adorable dimples, sat the object of her affections.
"Come here Calliope." The gorgeous blonde said as she held her hand in front of her face and crooked her forefinger in a come hither motion. Struck dumb, all the raven-haired woman could do was nod eagerly and enter the room shutting the door behind her. As she moved closer, she noticed the small red package sitting between the blonde's legs…her long, creamy-white, bare naked legs. Callie climbed on the bed on her hands and knees so she could get a better view of the blonde. Finally finding her voice, Callie asked almost reverently, "Not that I am complaining in the least, but to what do I owe this pleasure?" Still smiling, the blonde looked up to the ceiling and tapped her finger on her lip, "Well, a little birdy may have told me that my super sexy, bad-ass girlfriend is now an attending at Seattle Grace Mercy West Hospital. So, I thought maybe we would celebrate." Stretching out now and lying flat on her stomach with her tan chin rested on crossed milky white ankles, the Latina smiled and asked, "Is that so?" It was killing her being this close to the blonde's delicious smelling core and doing nothing about it. She knew that small package was blocking her view from glistening pale pink lips just waiting for her to lap up all the juices. The intoxicating scent was causing her own wetness to pool between her legs. Using one long finger, she traced a path up the muscular pale calf, around the knee, and across the thigh until it stopped in the crease of her leg next to the freshly manicured mound she was longing to bury her face in. She dared to glance up into blue eyes that had turned the shade of midnight with desire. Gasping at the raw need she saw in the blonde's eyes; she tapped the small package.
"What's this?" She asked, her voice harsh and raspy. Placing her small hand on top of the larger tan hand to stop it from going any further, Arizona picked up the package with her other hand and held it out for her girlfriend to take. "I picked this up a couple weeks ago and figured since you are a bad-ass ortho attending now, you might need this Dr. Torres." Her stomach flipped at the seductive way Arizona said her name and she smiled, took the small package that was no larger than an envelope, squeezed it a little and her smile turned into a cocky grin, almost certain she knew what it was. Opening the red wrapping paper, she found a grey scrub cap with red circular designs that perfectly fit her image and personality. Touched by the gesture and the fact that this amazing woman before her knew her so well and believed in her so deeply, she felt her heart fall just a little more in love. Sitting up, she leaned in to place a soft kiss on waiting pink lips. "Thank you, Arizona. This is perfect." She whispered huskily. Arizona raised her hand to a soft tan cheek, "You're perfect Calliope and I am so immensely proud of you. Now get naked, put that scrub cap on and fuck me like the bad-ass you are!"
Both women seemed to snap from their revery, neither aware of the tears that pooled in their own eyes as they were focused only on the watery eyes they loved so much. Lifting her hand to swipe at Callie's eyes, Arizona said in a near whisper, "You still wear it." Callie reached her own hand up to caress a soft pale cheek and answered, "How could I not? You were the one person who always saw me, always believed in me…in what I do. You never doubted me, never looked down on orthopedics. Even when you thought…you never once doubted my abilities as a surgeon, you were always my biggest cheerleader." Arizona smiled, leaned up and captured Callie's lip in a chaste kiss, then pulled the beloved scrub cap over her short black hair and said, "I will always believe in you. You are Dr. Callie Torres, bad-ass ortho goddess." Callie leaned down and kissed Arizona once more then stood back so they could both start scrubbing in. Glancing over, she said, "I miss the butterflies." Arizona laughed out loud and said, "You hate that scrub cap." Callie smirked and said, "I'm dark and frowny, I'm supposed to hate it, but secretly, I love it. I love it because whenever I see it, it means you are there." Arizona beamed at her and said, "Let's go save some legs Dr. Torres." Callie nodded and followed her girlfriend out of the scrub room.
After going over the plan with her surgical staff, assuring she had all the fixation devices and tools she needed, Callie looked to Arizona for approval to begin. Arizona finished strapping on the fetal monitor, watched the screen for a few minutes, then when she was satisfied with the readings, she turned to Callie and nodded her head. Stepping up to either side of the patient, both surgeons held out their right hand and said, "Ten blade."
A/N: Surprise! This is a little shorter than what I have been posting, but I wanted to give you a little treat and couldn't fit everything I wanted into one chapter and do it justice, so here you go. I will still be updating on my regular day.
As usual, everything is Shonda's.
