In Chaotic, the creatures were marching nervously. Those who remained there waited to learn what happened on Earth. They knew the humans were attacked by the M'arrillians, but nothing else. They could only pray the Cothica they would come out victorious.
Theb-Saar walked towards the corridor, searching for the Codemasters for answers.
"And Peyton is going into trouble," Tiaane grumbled as he spoke with Vinta.
"The M'arrillians attacked right when he is going to join them," Vinta replied.
"Come on brother. I'm sure they will get out of this," Shimmark commented by his side, sounding uncertain.
He heard the other creatures wondering the same thing. The M'arrillians who betrayed their tribe were loud as they wondered how long before their own kind would get the Cothica. It was something they feared as they talked about their failures.
The Mipedian king went on. He noticed the Danians were the lest loud bunch. He knew it was because less of them connected with Chaotic players compared to the other tribes. He went on, "Wonder how Maxxor and Chaor are doing? We still need to get more research in that room."
He entered in the room and saw queen Aszil with the Codemasters. He saw the nervousness on the face of the Danian queen and knew it wasn't over yet.
Chapter 97: Relief
"What's going on?" Theb-Saar asked when. He crossed his arms as his back rested at the entrance of the room.
Imthor replied, "The militaries are fast approaching the farm. They survived the first wave, but Milla'iin himself is there to get them. That's what the satellites showed. Nothing about the others with him."
"Did they send anything with their scanners?" Aszil asked.
"Nothing," he replied.
Hotekk raised his fingers, "The satellites noticed that the others just reached the farm."
They waited for the update. Hotekk slowly describe what the satellite picked up. The creatures could only imagine what they could be seeing from the air.
"I can confirm they joined with the group safely."
After this, there was a long silence as they waited for the update.
Crellan was the one who gave it, "Military are on the scene and providing covering fire for them to escape. I can confirm they all grabbed their scans," he was quiet for a minute, "Evacuation is…" he put his hand on his chest as he dropped his head, "A full success."
The two rulers sighed in relief. They didn't notice it, but there was something heavy suddenly off their shoulders.
"They are out," Theb-Saar approached them, "Can we communicate with them?"
"No. They begin the debriefing right now. Everyone is exhausted and it might be best to wait," Imthor replied.
"They went through a lot," Hotekk commented.
"That's… nice of you," Crellan told him.
The other Codemaster frowned, "I don't think most human would pull what they did. They were outnumbered and they got a prisoner with them."
"A prisoner?" Aszil asked.
"Yes. They captured Aval'par and he is brought up. They are preparing something to lock him up before they interrogate him."
"One great news after the other one," the queen commented with a small grin.
"Hope they can get something out of him. I don't believe Milla'iin told him everything," the blue Mipedian growled.
"Indeed. Milla'iin knows Aval'par is their prisoner. He will surely cut any mental link between him and the rest of the M'arrillians until they rescue him. Try at the very least," Imthor told them.
"There is little chance we get anything out of that M'arrillian," Aszil concluded. She sighed and grumbled, "What's the point of letting him live?"
"Aval'par is a prisoner of war. He has right as a such. They won't kill him. His judgement will pass on eventually for his crimes on Earth," Imthor replied.
"Laws included creatures?" Theb-Saar asked.
Hotekk raised his shoulders, "Don't ask me. From the literal stand point, now really."
"However, creatures have enough similarities to humans to be considered as such. Depending on many factors of course. That is for the humans to decide. I just know that the military will follow such law as we are at war against them," Imthor precise.
Crellan sighed, "This decision is not of our concern. What we should concern ourselves is how to end this war."
The Mipedian king nodded, "Yes. Humans' laws are unknown to us. When will we able to communicate with them?"
"It won't be long. They will finish to give the report and they will contact me through their scanners," Theb-Saar replied.
"How is everything progressing with that weird crystal you found?" Aszil asked. She got the attention of the other Codemasters.
"Not a lot of progress. Najarin and Taffial are currently trying to translate everything while others are preparing to fix the portal and see where it goes. We might get some answers… One way or another," the blue Mipedian replied as he closed his red eyes for a few seconds.
A beeping sound echoed in the room.
"We got contact," Crellan said as the two creatures quickly went by his side.
"Yo everyone!" Peyton said with a smile. It wasn't a happy smile, but a relieved one. One that seemed to stay on that face for a little too long.
"Hello Peyton. How is everything going for you?" Theb-Saar asked.
"Everything is good bro!" the portly boy replied before he remembered he spoke to a king.
"This is the king?" His mother came by his side, "Looks like he has trouble breathing and his face turn blue."
Everyone was taken aback by her comment. It was just so innocent and honest. Nothing in there to mock the creature.
They heard Sarah sighed, "He doesn't have trouble breathing. His scales are naturally blue."
"That's right mom. Just don't say stuff like that to his face like that too. He's the king of the Mipedian tribe," Peyton said as his face turned red in embarrassment.
The king lightly chuckled. He couldn't be angry at such an innocent comment, "I am breathing perfectly well. Or I would have died a long time ago out of breath. I was blue since birth."
"What happened with you? We know you were attacked and you managed to get out of here," Aszil brought the conversation to the important part.
Tom appeared by the side of Peyton as his mother stood back, "Yes. The M'arrillians came and we managed to escape. No one got their mind controlled. From what I heard… Where's Maxxor?"
"He went with Chaor and other creatures on an expedition. They hope to find a way to fix the portal. It will take some time. We estimate that they might be halfway there right now," the Danian queen replied.
"It will take a while for them to return, unless they got what they needed and teleport back to Chaotic," Crellan told them.
"Where are you right now? I can hear a loud sound," Theb-Saar asked.
"We are in the helicopter. We are still going to the base," Kaz replied on the side.
"He's right dude. Those things are really loud," Peyton added.
"How are you going to fix the portal anyway?" Sarah asked.
"The source of energy is damaged and we need to replace it," Imthor replied.
"Something that you don't have around," Tom realised as he grumbled to himself that.
"It's about opening portal between Perim and Earth. I take a special one. We analysed the remaining and we know if we get the right one or not. We already began to fix the rest. It helped that we analysed it and recorded everything," Crellan told them.
"So, the source of energy that you need the most," Alexandre commented.
They didn't know who he was, but didn't ask any questions.
"What will happen after you reach the base?" Theb-Saar asked curiously.
"We are far from the path of the M'arrillians, so they won't reach it for a while," the voice of an unknown man replied, "They will target the cities as we cannot do anything to stop them."
"They will be safe in the base. We can assure you that," the voice of an unknown woman replied.
"After we reach the base, we will debrief with everything. After this, we will check everyone to see if they are fine physically and mentally," the man from before replied.
"My son is not showing it right now, but he is shaken by it," Annie told them.
"Why is that?" Aszil asked.
"I… I killed a M'arrillian," Tom admitted before he sighed.
Crellan watched the screen intensively. He gazed down. He knew their failures to prevent the M'arrillians from reaching Earth hurt the humans. But knowing what Tom had to do, just put a nail in the coffin. He put his hand on his forehead, "Tom. I'm sorry. We failed all of you."
"You did everything you could," the boy replied.
"We will make sure he gets all the help he needs," one man replied.
"My husband will make sure of it," Tom's mother added.
"It seemed not everyone came out unshattered. Anyone hurt?" Theb-Saar asked.
"A little, but nothing that bad. It's the M'arrillians who gut hurt. They weren't expecting us to fight back like that," the voice of Donald told them.
"They were still many of them," Kaz sighed as he thought back of the attack. He then asked, "We are all fine and together," he let out a small smile.
"Yeah. We are all together. The four amigos are back together like when we visit Perim!" Peyton let out his optimistic smile.
"Stay safe," the Mipedian king ordered.
"For sure bro!" he gave a thumbs up.
"That goes for all of you," Imthor told them.
"By the way. What is the organisation doing about the situation right now?" Cassandra asked.
The Codemasters looked at each other's.
Imthor replied, "Michel and Annette didn't give us a lot of intel. All we know is that they are already preparing to build the Battle gears to protect the minds of the soldiers. They won't have the vital parts, but the basic will be done."
"How many factories?" Kaz asked.
The two rulers wondered what would a human factory be.
"Around twenty in isolated locations. Three in the USA, one in Canada, etc. The others are on another continent, ready to be used if they took control of all of the continent. The risk is extremely weak as of now."
The humans were relieved. Sarah commented, "They are going to make a lot and quickly."
"It won't work until we bring the supplies to finish that. The portal is unusable for now," Crellan told them, "It ran out of energy for good."
"Prepare yourself for landing!" a voice warned the group in the helicopter.
"Got to hang out. See you later!" Peyton waved at them.
"Stay safe Peyton. I'll want to ear from you later, after your talk with the soldiers," Theb-Saar replied.
"We will also share the news with Chaor and Maxxor. Don't worry about it," Crellan told them.
"Thanks," the two replied.
"Stay tough Sarah," Aszil told her.
"Of course," she replied to the queen.
Communication was cut.
The two creatures sighed loudly. They were relieved. Everything went much better than they anticipated.
"Must be the Cothica," Theb-Saar commented.
"Agreed. They come from there," Aszil nodded to him.
"Not sure if it's that. It's not the Cothica anyway," Hotekk replied. He ignored their glare, "I mean that it was their strength that got them out of trouble, not a miracle."
"Unless the Lord did something," Crellan waved his hand.
"You believe in that?" Hotekk yelled.
"Of course. The very fact that we exist as we are is a miracle by itself," he replied.
"Great. An IA believer," the other one commented, before lightly chuckling. He couldn't disagree that it might be possible.
"Anyway, we have to focus back on repairing the portal. We need the source of energy quickly. Even if it's just a little, we will be able to send more creatures. A quick fix would give us a better chance."
The blue Mipedian nodded, "I'll make sure everything is alright down there," he turned around and left.
"And I'll make sure our warriors are ready," the queen left.
The Codemasters put their hands together.
"We will stop the M'arrillians," Imthor declared.
"You sure sound confident," Hotekk didn't sound sarcastic at all.
"That victory. The prisoner they got. It's just the beginning. I just know it," he replied.
They knew it won't always get better. Still, that feeling was there. They believed.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: In Preparation.
The Messenger Of The Cothica, Alexandre, shared as much knowledge as he had to prepare many battle plans and counter-attacks against the M'arrillians.
We haven't seen the Messenger for a long time. He is trying a few things to help in Antarctica.
