Author Comment: I want to thank my Beta-Reader of everything he did for this chapter to come out.
Reggie held his scanner in his hand and tried to communicate with Tom or his three other friends again. His scanner couldn't get a signal for some reason.
"What's going on in America?" He wondered nervously. He watched the news and there was little information about it. He just knew that the M'arrillians were there. It was the minimum the Codemasters gave him. He was a witness of the invasion of Chaotic. He took a deep breath and tried not to panic.
It had been a few days since the M'arrillians came and he had never felt so powerless.
He rolled to the living room. It was a large one from his home. The servants were preparing breakfast. He closed his eyes, "Right. Time gaps," he forgot they were in another country and it wasn't day for them yet. He checked his scanner once again. No message.
"Maybe the Codemasters cut the signal. I don't know what they might have done," he commented. Still, he didn't intend to give up.
Surely something he could do. He gazed down at his scanner and looked at the message the Codemaster sent him. It explained a little about what was going on with the M'arrillians.
He noticed a message from Lulu. He opened it: Reggie. You have to watch the independent clip from Sebastion News!
It was sent yesterday morning. He put his hand on his forehead and realized he didn't check for other people. Lulu was new on his list of friends, and someone else who had seen the ravage of the M'arrillians. He raised his hand, "Can I get my computer please?"
"Of course, sir," a maid replied, before bringing his portable computer.
"Thank you," he smiled at her.
"No problem, sir," the maid bowed to him, before returning to her previous task. He opened his computer and searched for the clip. It was the last one. He clicked on it. He paled when he saw the fate of that man.
Chapter 110: The Order
The clip was about the man who showed what happened to Summer Vale. At the end, the man and the pilot of the helicopter were attacked by a M'arrillian and their minds controlled. Then, the clip was suddenly cut as the camera fell from the sky and landed on the ground.
Reggie put his hand on his forehead. "D-damn. This is bad. Really, really bad," he told himself. He turned his chair and hoped his friends weren't caught by them.
"Breakfast is ready," a maid told him.
"I'm coming," he put his computer on the side and went to eat. He had more to check and try after this.
Once he finished his breakfast, he went to his room. He brought his computer while he checked for more details about what was going on in Summer Vale. He knew where his friends lived. It was a while ago, but he didn't forget that. Not after what they did for him. He grabbed his scanner and tried to send a message to the Codemasters. If they could send him a message, his own could be sent back. He needed some answers and he needed them now.
"I hope they can give me more information on the matter. I need to know what is going on over there," he began to write a message to the Codemasters. He asked them to explain what was going on at Summer Vale and if everyone were okay.
He finished writing his message and sent it. He didn't know when they could reply. He could only wait.
After this, he went on with his school day. His mind was preoccupied with his friend's situation rather than studying, just like the other few days ago. He saw the video and knew they were in danger. He knew his friends were the ones in danger. The Codemasters specified that the M'arrillians showed up at the last location put on the portal. His friends lived close to each other and were the last one to leave. If he was the last one, then the M'arrillians would be in London.
Day was over and returned to his home. He checked his scanner and got a reply an hour ago. While he was in the limousine, he opened it and read the message.
Dear Reggie.
As of now, I can tell you that your friends are fine. The four are together and isolated. The M'arrillians don't know where they are and aren't approaching them. If there is anything wrong, they can quickly change location to safety. We will know what the M'arrillians are planning before they can do something about it. Remember that we can see them from space. As for your other question, we are indeed working on a way to deal with them. I won't explain more than that.
Signed, Codemaster Crellan.
Reggie sighed loudly and put his hand on his forehead. That was a huge relief. They were okay. Safe and sound. He didn't know what was going on with them, but that was enough for him to stop stressing over the matter.
There were still so many things going on. So many unknown factors. Still, they were fine. That was one weight off his shoulders.
He gazed out of the window. It was strange to see everything normal in England while his friends were in danger from the M'arrillian's invasion. He sighed. Once he was back home, he went to his room and tried to get more information on what was going on in America. Once again, he found nothing. The Codemasters just gave him the minimum. The only thing was that no one knew what was going on in Summer Vale and it was forbidden to approach the city. He saw on the internet many people asking if there was some disease or if that video put up by Sebastian News was true or not. Reggie gave up searching for more at the moment.
His scanner rang. He grabbed it and quickly replied, "This is Reggie… Hi Lulu."
"H-hi," Lulu replied. She wasn't up for a long time, "Finally I managed to contact you. I couldn't call you for a few days."
"Why is that?" Reggie asked.
"We are not in the same Time Zone and no scanner was properly working until yesterday night. A few of my friends sent me a message that it has been restored. That's why I called you."
"Maybe Tom and his friends can answer us now," the boy wondered.
"I tried. Nothing for them. It seems like we can't get into any contact with them. I'm worried for them. The M'arrillians are after them," Lulu told him. She was more worried about Peyton. Reggie could see that.
"I got a message from the Codemasters. Our friends are together and alright. No idea where, but I think it's for the best we don't know. Just in case for the M'arrillians," he told her.
The girl was relieved at the other side of the scanner. She cleaned her forehead, "I'm glad they are okay. I just wish I knew where they are. Still, it might be for the best we don't know. Maybe," she wasn't certain about that.
Reggie wasn't certain that was a good idea. He didn't voice his opinion on the matter though.
"Anyway, did you hear anything about Summer Vale? On my hand, I had almost nothing. Except for the video you gave me."
"No. I have nothing else. I tried to search for more, but the information is obviously being heavily controlled," Lulu sighed. She gazed at the side, "It makes me want to check out what happened at Summer Vale. I won't do it! I won't. It's a bad idea. Still, I wish we could help our friends somehow."
"And the Codemasters. They have a lot to handle. Anyway- My dad is home. I'll call you back later," he told her.
"Okay. I don't have school today. With everything going on and since I'm not living that far from Summer Vale, school is off until the M'arrillians are taken care of. I think," she ended communication.
Reggie sighed as he put his scanner down. He turned around and went out of his room to greet his father.
"Dad. How are you?" He asked his father who put a few things on the ground.
His father held a cellphone, "I don't care how difficult it is. We have little time to prepare and make those things. It is a grave emergency and we need to be on the double," he hung up. He sighed and noticed his son, "Hello Reggie. How was school today?"
"Everything was okay. I got into contact with one of my friends with my scanner," he replied. He was curious about one thing, "And how's it going at work? It seems like there is some problem."
His father nodded negatively, "It's not some problem. It's a big situation and we need to adapt our factories in a matter of days. We cannot afford to be behind schedule. Many factories all over the world have been picked to produce something."
"And what are you making now?" Reggie asked.
"It's something called the Mind Bander," his father didn't notice his son's surprised expression, as he gave his brown coat to his maid, "We won't have everything to make it, but they want us to prepare it in advance."
"Mind… Bander," the boy whispered. He quickly realized what this meant.
"Is everything okay?" his father asked.
"Y-yes dad. I heard of that name in my game called Chaotic," he went and searched for the card. He had scanned this Battlegear. It wasn't that easy to pick them from his wheelchair, but he did it anyway. He came back and showed it to his father, "It looks like this."
His father paled a little, "W-what? It's like the schematic we received," he whispered. He asked, "Can we talk together alone? One on one?"
"Sure," Reggie answered. He also wanted to know why his father's factory was making those. They went into the large room of his father. It was his working room when he got important guests or to be alone.
Reggie saw the desk with the computer, the chair and in front of the desk, the large portrait of his family. He put his hand on his face when he was a baby. It was a little embarrassing to see himself young like that. Also, the important people of the world would see him like that.
"Okay. Can you tell me why the government wanted us to make something that looks identical to that card?"
Reggie took a deep breath and explained everything he knew about Chaotic. When he talked about the M'arrillians, he noticed his father wasn't that surprised. He guessed he saw that video online.
"So those M'arrillians are real and we are making something to prevent them from mind controlling people?" his father asked.
The boy wasn't sure why his father wasn't doubting him, "Yeah. Are you sure my story isn't too far-fetched?"
"No. The government explained this to me and showed proof. Anyway, glad I won't keep this from you," he told him.
Reggie decided to ask his question, "And do you know how to build those Mind Banders? It's not something that exists here and we have no reason to know about those."
"I don't really know that well either. It's simply that the USA gave the information in many countries to build those things and give it to the military forces. It's not something complete, but they said it will buy some time," his father was confused about the situation.
"I guess they are planning a counter-attack on the M'arrillians."
"Yes. They must prepare to fight back those invaders in the USA," his father sighed in conclusion. He watched the world through the window, "I'd like to know more about this Chaotic thing when I have time. Didn't know it was all real and not just a game. Makes a little sense why you asked to go to meet those friends of yours."
"That's a long story," Reggie replied. He tapped his fingers together. When his father told him that. An idea began to form in his mind. Still, it wouldn't be the right time to do this now.
The two talked more together. Reggie gave a bit of detail about Chaotic while his father explained a bit on how they would organize the production of the Mind Bander.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: Leaving The Island.
Maxxor and the others continued their escape from the Island.
