AC: I want to thank FollowerOfAnhamirak for his work in this chapters.
The night came slowly in Chaotic. Tera Motus had a small smile on his face. He was satisfied to meet the humans from the Cothica. He couldn't believe they still existed in flesh and blood.
Maxxor noticed it and asked, "Are you a little surprised about the humans?"
"No. I'm just glad to meet them. They look like those of the legends."
"Any difference?" The Overworlder asked, curious.
"Yes. There are a few things. Their appearance is similar, but their clothes are different."
"Really?"
"They looked more like your tribe… maybe more primitive. Also less muscular," he grumbled.
"I'm sure the others would like to know more in the future," Maxxor gazed outside. He could see the night was settling in, "It will be your first night here."
"Yes. I wish to see more of this Chaotic place eventually. This was a place where many of them lived… I think?" He didn't fully understand the concept of the codes.
"Not really. It is a place where many meet and play the Chaotic game. Since none of them are here, I can't show you what it looks like," Maxxor concluded.
Tera Motus stopped, "Maxxor."
"Yes?"
"I really hope to see the Cothica one day, but I also hope that my tribe will see it too, even if they cause trouble."
"They really don't want us to go there."
"The Cothica is a sacred place. Still, we built a portal in the past to go there and return to Perim. From what I could guess. There is nothing about it in the old text, but it feels like there is more to it, or something happened."
"I cannot answer that," the ruler of the Overworld admitted. He didn't know anything about the other creature's tribe.
"Only a scholar or the rulers might know those secrets… maybe."
Tera Motus ended the conversation with those ominous words.
Chapter 122: Infiltration
The night came and the creatures were asleep. A few of them were still up and watching the portal, just in case the elemental creatures showed up for a sabotage mission.
There were also a few robots who watched the portal. The defense system was large and it was carefully observing the portals. Anything that might come through it would be detected.
As also planned, there were a few Mipedians who were invisible, ready to stalk the elemental creatures if they managed to avoid the guards.
At the darkest moment of the night, the portal took life for a few seconds.
The creatures noticed it and raised their battlegear, ready to use it on any intruders. They noticed the Telebracers floating in the air, but there was nothing attached to them.
The creatures were confused as the two pairs of Telebracers fell on the ground.
"Search for the intruders!" One ordered.
The robots and the creatures searched around. A few remained just in case there were more ready to show up. They weren't sure if they had a way to make more of those, compared to their tribes.
The Mipedians, who were invisible, remained in place. They tried to see any change in the air. Any hints of a presence near the portal.
Vinta was among them, when he noticed the water on the ground. The water began to slowly move and slide away. He followed it, with the other Mipedians with him. He looked around, if the second elemental creature was around. He gazed up and noticed it. A white creature that looked like fog. It followed the water on the ground. He raised his claw and pointed up.
A few of them focused on the thing in the air, while he continued to focus on the ground with the others.
Hotekk carefully observed the Mipedians through infrared. He noticed they were stalking two things and searched for it with the cameras. He finally noticed a puddle of water going somewhere. He also noticed the foggy thing. He knew the elemental creatures were there.
"Imthor," he said.
Imthor nodded, "I see it."
"What should we do?" He asked.
"We will proceed as planned. We let the Mipedians follow them and arrest them when they have the chance. We focus on defending the portal and anything vital in Chaotic," he replied.
Crellan carefully observed the progression, "They don't seem to know where they should go. They aren't going towards the portal or anything vital."
"They aren't a reconnaissance team. They wouldn't leave the Telebracers in the tribe's possession like that. They are here on a suicide mission I believe," Hotekk concluded. He let out a small smirk under his mask, "But they won't succeed."
Imthor scratched his chin, "They are ready to die to close the portal forever. I do not like this at all."
"Do they know something we don't?" Crellan wondered.
"That's not important right now," Imthor declared. He adjusted his helmet, "What is important is to stop them from causing any destruction to the portal."
"They are going towards the living quarters," Hotekk brought them back to what was going on.
They observed it. This was getting tense. They wondered why the Mipedians didn't act right now.
The four leaders of Perim were up, but remained at the entrance to Chaotic. For the plan, it was best that they didn't follow the others.
"The silence is getting under my exoskeleton," Aszil admitted as she tapped her fingers on the table.
Chaor grunted. His muscles tensed. He wanted to find them and destroy them, "And we cannot do anything about it. That plan better work, or my fury won't be stoppable," he gazed at the blue Mipedian.
Theb-Saar nodded, "I saw my soldiers following the elemental creatures. We have the advantage of surprise. Tera Motus is also here, so those two won't change their target suddenly," he pointed at the rock and ice creature who was still sleeping on the ground.
"He sure is a heavy sleeper," Maxxor commented. He knew it was a fact, as he spent long enough with him. His gaze turned towards the M'arrillians who watched the portal, just in case more would come. He noticed they seemed a little agitated. They seemed to be ready to leave their positions and search for the intruders. He made no comment on the matter. Meanwhile, he noticed Gal'drad approaching them.
"Anything about those elemental creatures? The others are restless by the inaction. I know it's part of the plan, but it's difficult to convince them to stay in position."
"The Mipedians are stalking him. They will act the moment they are vulnerable. It's difficult to attack a puddle of water and a fog," Theb-Saar replied as he crossed his arms.
Gal'drad told the other members of his tribe, before adding that they should calm down. It seemed to work as they seemed less agitated, "Good," he sat down with them. He felt a bit of tension with his presence there, but he didn't budge, "This is a better position to observe my tribe and feel like I am doing something."
That eased a bit of the tension. Chaor grumbled, "Whatever."
Aszil asked, "Can you feel the mind of the elemental creatures?"
"Yes, but they are out of my range for a while. I didn't get into their mind. I won't go down the path of Aa'une," he crossed his arms. He closed his eyes and sighed quietly. He opened it and looked at them, "Still, if it takes too long, we will have to make a move."
"Agreed," the Underworlder nodded.
The ruler of the Overworld sighed, "Only if we have no choice."
Aszil chuckled, "But we put security in necessary positions and the opposite," she put her hands on the table, "The guards will get their attention to the wrong place."
"That is a good idea," Maxxor admitted.
She chuckled, "The Chaotic Players were good at understanding the differences though. They can observe Mount Pillar in their matches. That makes it more complicated with security. So we move battlegear depots from time to time and it confuses them and the creatures who come," she gazed at the Mipedian King.
Theb-Saar ignored her gaze, as he knew what she was talking about, "Anyway, we still need to wait. We act if this is taking too long, but I have faith in my soldiers."
Vinta and the others continued to follow the elemental creatures. They stopped when they reached their destinations. There were two Danians guarding the entrance of the living quarters, which the water creature and wind creature weren't aware of.
The Mipedians were quiet, they didn't want to alert the enemies of their presence. They carefully waited for the intruders' next move. If they went on the offensive, they would quickly attack them while they were busy.
The puddle tried to pass the door, but it was sealed up and couldn't pass discreetly.
Vinta squinted his eyes. He took a deep breath and waited in anticipation. Whatever would happen here, they couldn't fail.
The puddle backed away. In the air, the fog suddenly took a more solid form. It prepared a wind attack.
The Mipedian noticed the puddle did the same near the guards protecting nothing important.
The Danians noticed a little too late the two creatures to defend themselves from the first attack.
They were hit by a water and wind attack that knocked them to the side. Before the elemental creature could reach the door, the Mipedians acted.
They used their attacks and hit their backs. Still, the wind creature dodged the fire, wind and earth attack coming at it and broke the door down. It entered inside and searched for the portal, but realized there was nothing like that.
The Mipedians blocked the exit, while the two Danians recovered and a few of the other soldiers prepared to fight the water creature.
Vinta warned him, "It's over. There is no escape for you."
The creature looked at them and realized what was going on, "This was all an ambush," he chuckled as he added, "But you won't be able to stop us from our mission," he dropped back into its gas form and went away.
The Mipedians chased after him while the Danians fought against the water creature. Other creatures came to help the Danians with fire attacks.
Vinta took the lead and once he lost sight of the wind creature, he turned invisible and the others did the same. As they turned the corner, they noticed that the creature was waiting to ambush them. As they were invisible, he didn't notice them.
Vinta went behind the creature and prepared his attack. He noticed the others were also ready.
He yelled, "Flash Kick!" He hit the back of the creature. The other Mipedians did the same, but the creature already continued its escape.
They chased after it. One of the soldiers said, "We won't get him again."
"Right. We need to get him once and for all," Vinta replied,
The chase went on as they dashed through the corridors. The elemental creature slid under one door and they had to slow down before it opened for them. They continued the chase.
"We will tell you where the creature is going if you lose sight of him," Codemaster Hotekk told them.
They just gave a nod and continued the chase. They were behind the creature and couldn't catch up with it. It flew faster than they could run.
Eventually, they lost sight of the creature.
Hotekk followed the creature's path. He began to guide the creatures towards the elemental creature.
Meanwhile, Imthor told the four leaders, "They lost sight of the wind creature. As for the water creature, the Danians managed to capture him."
"That's good. Still, we will all go after the wind creature and restrain its movement," Theb-Saar replied.
"Finally!" A M'arrillian said as they stood up and marched in.
"We need to hunt that creature without putting ourselves in the way," Gal'drad said.
The Codemaster noticed the creatures quickly left their spot. A few remained near the portal, too little to his liking. He sighed in relief when a few turned around, a little grumpy from not participating in the chase.
Hotekk sighed, "I hope they stop that creature before he actually manages to reach something important."
"Me too," the leader of the Codemasters replied.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
Next: To Secure Chaotic.
The creature searched for the wind element creature as they lost sight of it. Tera Motus was the one who found it.
