AC: I want to thank FollowerOfAnhamirak for his work in this chapter and the previous ones.
Tom and his friends watched Reggie and Lulu near the helicopter.
"It will be ready to leave soon," the blond-haired boy told them. He let out a sad smile, "Good to know you are all okay."
"We will hold on until the M'arrillians are gone," Alexander told them as he slapped the back of the blue bug by surprise.
"Stop it!" Odu-Bathax yelped. He grumbled as he crossed his arms and took a large step away from Sarah's brother.
Tom went on, "We will be careful here. The military will keep everything under watch," he let out a small smile and gave a thumbs up, "Nothing will go wrong."
"The Cothica is by their side," Intress commented to herself.
"We are ready to crush anyone who comes here!" Rothar declared as he showed his muscles. Especially to Cassandra.
Kaz frowned as the minotaur creature showed off once again, "Stop this right now."
The two nervously chuckled. They didn't understand how a creature could be interested in a human. Still, it was the least of the things they should worry about.
Lulu sighed, "Looks like they are ready," she saw the pilot and the co-pilot coming towards the helicopter.
"This is good-bye for now," Reggie told them.
"Peyton! You better call me from time to time. You know my scanner number!" She told him loudly.
"Sure miss! I got it on my scanner-" he froze when he realized what he forgot to do during the entire situation, "S-sorry for before."
"No problem. There is so much going on with them here and the M'arrillians," she understood why he forgot. He was focused on his closest friends.
"Bye!" The two said as they went into the helicopter.
"Don't forget to contact us!" Sarah told them.
"Stay safe!" Kaz added.
The two left and the helicopter departed from the base. It took a detour, to avoid the M'arrillians.
Remi watched from the side. He didn't know them that much, but he could see why they were friends with the four. He sighed, "Should have tried to talk with them before," he had a bit of regret, but he had his own group of friends in Perim. It was okay in the end and he met them now. In some very unfortunate circumstances.
Once they were gone, there was one thing to do.
Chapter 127: The Evil Plan In Action
The four were allowed to enter the meeting room with their parents, as they wanted to know what was going on. Remi didn't follow them and visited the M'arrillians in their jail.
They watched anxiously the path they were taking. They wondered if another town would fall or be evacuated. They felt the tension in the air as they quickly closed in the city.
"The town has already evacuated," Tom's father told them calmly. He still looked a little serious. He expected something else soon.
"Do you think they will keep going forward this time?" Kaz asked.
"Many things are too. The Codemasters guessed that they might not stop, based on what we know and what the prisoners said," George replied.
His wife hoped that they might stop. She wondered if everything would be alright. She asked her son, "Know anything about the portal?"
Tom gazed at her and shook his head "Nothing new on the matter. I just know that they were getting really close. It is a question of days now."
"Enough to cause a lot of damage," Donald concluded.
"Nothing that can't be fixed," Julia said optimistically.
The others didn't share that much of her hopes. Peyton and his father were close to it, but wondered what might never be fixed.
"Still have no idea what will happen after everything," Sarah commented.
"No one knows Sarah," Wamma replied as he shrugged.
"Everything will be different," Agitos told them.
It was obvious the creatures might not want to just leave the Earth and never come back. Not only that, more people were now aware of the creatures, thanks to the invasion. Many might be in denial, but they might not be able to do that forever.
"They reached the city," one of the soldiers said.
They observed it and waited for the possible destruction of the town. It wasn't a big one, but it had a few tall buildings.
The screen showed that the creatures dispersed until they weren't in a big enough group to be easily seen by the satellite. They switched to the cameras of the city. They saw the M'arrillians searching for any humans.
"Where is that tentacle guy?" Annie asked.
The four teenagers wondered which M'arrillian that was.
"Who?" Kaz asked.
Cassandra looked at them, "Milla'iin? You mean Milla'iin?"
"Yeah. I don't-" she then saw him appear on one of the cameras, "Never mind. He's there."
"You thought they planned something?" Ario asked her.
"Yeah. I mean, they believe there is a spy. Seen enough movies about the multi faceted plans someone might do. Like having back-up plans to steal someone or stuff like that," she replied.
Jeff concluded her thought, "Like a diversion."
"Yeah. I'm just really nervous they might try that," Annie admitted.
"Looks like they didn't plan something like that," Lucas concluded with a small smile of relief.
Donald shook his head, "We can't be sure if we are seeing every M'arrillian. I saw a few small ones among them."
"Children," Intress concluded.
"That's going to mark them for a long time," Kaz grumbled.
George sighed, "Yeah. As for now, I don't see anything else around. They are all in the city, from what I can tell."
"Maybe the Codemasters will have a second opinion on the matter," the general of the case commented. He went to contact them.
The Codemasters listened to the message from the general.
Hotekk nodded, "Understood."
Imthor took command, "I'll focus on checking every camera and feed. Maybe not all of them are present," he then focused on his task.
Codemaster Crellan said, "I'll help you. There is little going on in Chaotic and the others are fixing the portal."
"Thanks. I got a bad feeling about this. With everything we know, they might have something else in mind," Imthor replied as he quickly checked the images and recordings.
"I cannot disagree with you. The fact that they think there is a spy among them makes it obvious that another plan might be in motion."
"I am trying to check if every M'arrillian is among them… the important ones. The soldiers all look the same."
"Crabs with abs," Hotekk chuckled.
The four rulers came into the room shortly after that comment.
"You told us the M'arrillians are on the move!" Chaor growled as he quickly watched the images. It went too quickly for them to process it.
"Yes," Imthor replied as he focused on his task.
Hotekk was the one who had time to interact with the four creatures, "They are searching if every M'arrillians are in the assault. We don't see any of them in Summer Vale. Milla'iin is searching for the humans among his soldiers. If they follow the river, they will go away from the military base where Tom and his friends are."
"That is good news," Maxxor nodded to himself.
"I said if. If they are not all together, then there might be more than one group right now," the Codemaster, who wasn't busy, told them.
They could only observe powerlessly.
"How much progress is made with the portal?" Theb-Saar asked.
"Finally managed to cut the crystal. It is brought near the portal and ready to be installed. Even then, we will need to coordinate. Not too close to the M'arrillians and not too far away."
Maxxor nodded, "We don't know anything about the Cothica and we will need time to assemble and prepare for the attack. We also need to check if they are alright."
"And if we have enough supplies. There is no guarantee the war will end in one battle," Aszil told them.
Chaor huffed, "We will make sure that everything is over in one fight," he crossed his arms and watched the screen.
"For now, I see that all the M'arrillians are together, but I have a bad feeling about someone. Like I might have skipped a few of them," Crellan told the other Codemasters.
"We don't have the knowledge of each M'arrillian. We didn't note all of them because of the high risk, only those the Chaotic Players managed to scan. Not all of them," Imthor thought back.
"Should we compare them to the images the camera gets in Chaotic?" Hotekk suggested.
"Prepare everything. We will isolate each creature and compare them to the recordings," the leader of the Codemasters decided. They quickly separated each unique M'arrillian and also some of the more generic warriors and put them side by side.
The four leaders were amazed at how quickly they were able to find each of them and put an image near it. It was much more complicated for them. They didn't have any battlegear that could discreetly spy like those of the Codemasters.
Milla'iin grunted in frustration as the town was already deserted. It didn't feel like they all left at the last second, like last time. It was a little farther away than the town to the north. The emptiness of the town unnerved him a little. Somehow, the location became scary without any humans. Those they had with them were the humans under their control. Still, they could obtain some supplies to feed everyone. However, that would have to wait.
The soldiers reported that they found nothing. It was obvious, but they checked everywhere. There was no reason to remain here. The humans under their control were already ordered to move forward first. They hoped that coming first might cause a bit of disturbance in the next city, in hope of capturing more humans and putting them under their mind control.
"Enough for the search. We keep going forward!" He ordered.
The M'arrillians nodded and continued to follow the river. Milla'iin wondered if the actual plan was going well or not. He wouldn't have any idea until they gave a report. So far, he believed the plan was working and the spy gave the fake intel to the humans. He chuckled, as he imagined the four humans they were hunting, prisoners under their tendrils.
He could already see the leaders of the four tribes, bowing under him. It was a dream he wished to make come true. His tribe will then accomplish Aa'une's dream. They would be the masters of Perim. It was their destiny.
Tom and his friends watched the M'arrillians as they left the city and continued south. They went to the next town. Now, it was much harder to guess which town they could attack. The river split in three sections. A small town or village was connected to each of them. The roads wouldn't allow them to quickly evacuate. Still, they had a long advance and the report stipulated that the evacuation of the towns went well.
The little thing that made the soldiers nervous was that the humans knew it was the M'arrillians coming.
"There were Chaotic Players in those towns. They surely saw the videos and the people believed them. Still, they left much faster than those who didn't know. From the reports, it seemed that they already packed stuff in preparation for the evacuation," one of the soldiers gave the report.
Despite sounding bad, it was a blessing in disguise. The knowledge allowed for more innocents to be saved. Even if the governments will have to answer for that eventually.
George said, "We need to let public know. We cannot hide this for much longer. There are enough words going around on the internet and no amount of censorship will stop this."
The general replied, "I know. In fact, it only makes it worse. We have to own it. I'll contact the president and demand that he tells the truth of what is going on. It's better sooner than later."
"I'll do this right now," Tom's father left.
The humans present wondered what would the consequence of this truth bring. That was a big unknown factor. Still, there was no turning back for a long time anyway.
AC: This is the end of this chapter.
The story is approaching to its end. There will be a long epilogue after this is over. They are a few things that need to be put for the conclusion of the story I do have plans for a sequel, but it won't come out immediately. It is approaching, but there still a few things going on.
Next: Declaration Of Truth
The world shall know the truth of the Chaotic Game.
