Chapter 9 – Hurricane
No one's POV
Finding herself wrapped in Jade's arms, as the pair lay in bed, Tori couldn't be happier. In fact, Tori very much found herself wanting to remain this way for eternity. It was like being held by love itself, Tori thought. Jade during this time, neither spoke, moved or even opened her eyes. Tori however, knew that her lover was very awake.
After a bit longer, Jade shifted slightly and pulled Tori in just a little bit tighter.
"This is nice, I want to do this all the time. When we're not making love of course." Giggled Tori
Jade said nothing, but in response slowly began to stroke Tori's hair.
After about 15 minutes, Tori looked up at Jade. "My turn. Crawl into my arms."
Without so much as a peep, Jade let go of Tori and slipped into her arms. Of all the things Jade was feeling at the moment, the most prominent was a feeling of utter contentment. It also struck as being almost even more intimate than their lovemaking the night before.
"You know Vega. Something's just occurred to me." Said Jade in a soft but rather amused voice.
"What's that?"
"It's going to be about 100 times easier to get you to do things I want."
"How?"
Jade quickly smirked. "Just deny you the thing you love most. That happens to be me."
"That's mean!"
"and your point?"
Tori quickly perked up. "I can do the same thing. You'll have to do what I want."
Jade's smirk quickly vanished. "I was hoping you wouldn't realize that. Well, it was fun while it lasted. See you at school tomorrow."
Jade started to move out from Tori's arms but was quickly restrained.
"You're not going to let me go, aren't you?"
"No. Have a problem with that?"
"None at all." Purred Jade as she once again snuggled in Tori's arms. "Let's sleep for a little longer."
Tori quickly closed her eyes. "Your wish is my command."
A few moments later, the pair had once again drifted back to sleep. They only slept for about 45 minutes, with Jade waking up first. As soon as she did, she realized she was still ensconced in Tori's arms. She couldn't help but reflect on that only now was she realizing that being held by a woman, Tori especially, was so soft, warm, comforting, sensual and perfect.
"Please don't break my heart." Whispered Jade, to her sleeping companion.
About 5 minutes later, Tori woke up and released jade from her grasp. At that point the two women lay in bed facing each other.
Jade sat up and gently slapped Tori's behind. "Come on Vega. It's after 10:30. Let's get up, I'm hungry and we have stuff to do."
Jade was first out of bed, grabbing the same robe she had worn earlier. Then she walked over to her overnight bag and unzipped it.
As Jade rummaged through her bag to get her toiletries, Tori got up and grabbed her own robe. "As I recall, we're going to do some lingerie shopping." Said Tori in a sing-song voice.
Jade briefly smiled as she pulled her make up kit from her bag. "True"
"I also recall you're buying."
"Also true. Don't' forget we're going to look at burial plots before that."
Tori quickly laughed. "Of course. Let's look at grave stones. Should be fun."
Jade quickly stood and by the time she'd turned to fact Tori her normal scowl had turned ice cold. "I said Burial Plots, not grave stones and what was that laugh that supposed to mean?"
"Nothing. I was just chuckling."
"Because you thought it was funny!" Retorted Jade, as she advanced menacingly towards Tori.
Realizing that the conversation had suddenly gone off a cliff, Tori tried to calm the situation down. "Please, I didn't mean anything by it."
Jade walked the rest of the way to Tori and angrily poked her in the chest. "Of course you meant something. You laughed, meaning you thought it was funny. Didn't it ever occur to you that I may have actually taken it seriously. I'm a goth you know. Which means more than listening to Bauhaus and dressing in black."
By now Jade's voice had started to rise. "Or did you really think that was all I was about!"
"No. that's not what I thought." Said Tori as her voice began to shake.
Jade who was now fully enraged, went on the attack. "NO, YOU DIDN'T THINK AND THAT'S WHY YOU LAUGHED AT ME. JUST LIKE BECK DID WHEN I SUGGESTED IT TO HIM! I'm obsessed with death and knowing and planning where I am going to be buried is very important to me. But obviously you think I'm a joke, just like Beck did."
Stunned from such a sudden and fierce attack, Tori felt as if she was going to cry. "I'm sorry. No. you're not a joke to me. I love you!"
"YOU LOVE ME OR LOVE FUCKING ME! WHICH IS IT!"
"NO I LOVE YOU." Pleaded Tori, as the first tear ran down her cheek.
For another second Jade just stood there, utterly seething. Tori, who was watching her dreams turn to ash, expected the worst. It was all going to end right there, in disaster and heartbreak.
All of a sudden, Jade opened her mouth to speak, but just as quickly turned around and put her hand to her head. Jade then walked up to the wall and leaned her head against it, saying nothing.
Jade took a deep breath, followed by two others, but didn't move. Tori, who was still in a state of shock, just stood there. She had no idea what would happen next.
After another moment, which seemed to take an forever, Jade took another deep breath and in a low and forlorn voice said.
"Forgive me. I'm sorry. You didn't deserve that."
Tori paused for a moment, as she collected her thoughts. Just as quickly as Jade went on the offensive, she suddenly backed down and apologized. Cautiously, Tori walked up to Jade, who's head was still against the wall. Once there, she slowly reached out her hand and placed it on Jade's shoulder. For a moment, Tori feared just touching Jade would set her off again. Instead, Jade appeared to relax, lowering her shoulders.
"Jade" Tori said calmy and honestly. "Apology accepted. Now I owe you an apology. I belittled something you consider important, not only that I didn't really listen. I shouldn't have done that I'm sorry. Please forgive me."
Jade turned and leaned against the wall, but kept her head lowered. "Forget it. You don't owe me an apology. I'm sensitive about certain things. I have interests, things that are important to me. They may be different or considered weird, but it's who I am. My parents, Beck, others, never took me seriously. Hearing you chuckle, even though I know you meant nothing by it, it just set me off. Still, I had no right to reduce you to tears. I'm sorry."
Tori had always been keenly aware that Jade at times could be somewhat volatile and unpredictable. That in fact was one of the things that had attracted her to Jade. But this outburst in both the timing and intensity had caught her off guard. But Jade had apologized and in addition, Tori herself realized that making a joke of something that Jade holds dear, was very disrespectful. For that she felt bad.
Tori also realized that this was more than a simple apology, this was Jade opening up to her. She took her hand and put it under Jade's chin. She then gently lifted Jade's head so the goth was looking her in the eye. "I love you. Which means I want to learn all about your world, so I can be part of it. I really mean that. I do owe you an apology, I am sorry."
The tiniest hint of a smile came to Jade's lips. "Thank you. We both have some adjusting to do. Do you know why I suddenly stopped yelling?"
"No."
"Seeing you cry broke my heart. It's just that simple. I'm sorry I cast doubt on your feelings. I believe you. I also love you. Question is, do you believe me."
Tori reached out her arms, then stepped forward. Jade responded by walking into Tori's embrace and putting her head on Tori's shoulder. "Of course."
"We don't have to go to the cemetery if you don't want." Jade said, with a hint of resignation in her voice.
Tori pulled back and frowned briefly. "Don't do that. It's what you wanted to do and it's what we will do. Come on, let's get cleaned up."
Jade nodded. "Thank You. Sure."
The girls, then wordlessly picked up their things to take in to the bathroom. As they did, Jade couldn't help but reflect on what had just happened. While she had "Discovered" her feelings for Tori which had been buried, it had also had the side effect of pretty much stirring up all her other emotions. At the moment, Jade felt like her feelings were a bit like a hurricane, with Tori as they calm eye of the storm. But even Tori wasn't immune to the winds, especially, when Tori made light of something Jade thought important. But when she saw Tori start to cry, Jade's heart broke and she stopped instantly. Thinking back, Jade realized there a half a dozen times she had thought of something particularly nasty in order to humiliate Tori. But each and every time Jade found she simply couldn't do it.
I couldn't hurt her; I mean really hurt her. Jade thought. At the time I really didn't know why, I do now.
Once they had their things they went into the bathroom. As soon as they were inside, Tori put down her things and disrobed.
As She did, Jade could feel her heart beating faster. Tori was the most beautiful creature she had ever seen. It felt odd, but wonderful, to Jade that she could finally admit that to herself.
Jade watched as Tori then slowly walked over to the shower and turned it on. Turning towards her, Tori smiled and reached out a hand.
Feeling her heart beginning to race, Jade disrobed herself and took Tori's hand. Tori then walked them slowly into the shower and pulled the curtain back.
She pulled Jade in close as the hot water and steam over them both. For a moment, neither spoke a word simply content to look into each other's eyes.
Tori was the first to speak, but in a soft voice. "We had our first bump in the road, but we made it. And we've made up and do you know what that means."
Jade couldn't help but smile and nod in acknowledgment. Jade thought back to her outburst for a moment. After she had stopped herself, Jade for a moment found herself sure that Tori would end it, right there. Amongst her newly found feelings, she had realized her fear of losing Tori was quite intense. But all her feelings for Tori had been intense, more than she had ever realized. But it was all good now, more than good, it was perfect.
After another moment of gazing into Jade's eyes, Tori moved her lips to Jade's right ear and whispered one word.
"Lover"
Hearing that single word, that very special word that Tori uttered when they first together sent Jade's feelings of love and desire off the charts. Not able to control herself anymore, Jade pulled Tori in tighter and began to kiss her furiously.
The pair hit a bump in the road, but got through it and realized that each needed to adjust. Thanks to Invader Johnny for their help with this chapter.
