A/N - Here's the next chapter of the story. Just a quick note to let you know that the Quidditch World Cup game in this story is the same as the one in canon so I won't spend much time describing it.

Disclaimer: The X-Men were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and belong to Marvel Comics. Harry Potter was created by and belongs to J.K. Rowling. I make no money from this and the only thing that's mine are the original parts of the story.

4) AT THE QUIDDITCH WORLD CUP

Harry was walking around the large campsite along with his teammates, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, and the Twins. The game wouldn't be for several hours yet so the 11 teens went out to explore. There was a lot to see. Tents of all kinds were set up all over the place. Some looked like normal tents but many of them were quite elaborate, looking more like canvas mansions than simple tents. Although many of the smaller tents looked like normal tents from the muggle world it was obvious that the larger tents were magical.

It was only just dawning on Harry how many witches and wizards there must be in the world. It was true that he'd been exposed to magicals outside of the UK since moving to America but here on the campgrounds for the Quidditch World Cup he could see people from all different parts of the world and of all different ages, including families with very small children, easily the youngest witches and wizards Harry had ever seen. A tiny boy no older than two was crouched outside a large pyramid-shaped tent, holding a wand and poking happily at a slug in the grass, which was swelling slowly to the size of a salami. As they drew level with him, his mother came hurrying out of the tent.

"How many times, Kevin? You don't - touch - Daddy's - wand - yecchh!"

She had trodden on the giant slug, which burst. Her scolding carried after them on the still air, mingling with the little boy's yells "You bust slug! You bust slug!"

A short way farther on, they saw two little witches, barely older than Kevin, who were riding toy broomsticks that rose only high enough for the girls' toes to skim the dewy grass.

Three African wizards sat in serious conversation, all of them wearing long white robes and roasting what looked like a rabbit on a bright purple fire, while a group of middle-aged American witches sat gossiping happily beneath a spangled banner stretched between their tents that read: THE SALEM WITCHES' INSTITUTE. Harry caught snatches of conversation in strange languages from the inside of tents they passed, and though he couldn't understand a word, the tone of every single voice was excited.

Harry's teammates were all looking around in curiosity and wonder. They had some experience with magic just having Harry and Sirius around all the time and a couple of them had been to Colony Alley but they'd never seen such a gathering of witches and wizards as this. Harry was kept busy trying to answer their questions as they walked. Ron and Hermione would sometimes drop in a word or two but mostly they stayed out of the discussion the teammates were having. Truth to tell Ron and Hermione were both a little envious of the easy way Harry got along and interacted with his fellow X-Men, especially Warren and Bobby. It was obvious that the six of them were a close knit group, just like Harry, Hermione, and Ron had been when Harry was still at Hogwarts. Harry was still their close friend even though he now lived in another country but Harry's relationship with the other X-Men was a part of his life that his older friends really couldn't share in very much.

"Er - is it my eyes, or has everything gone green?" said Ron.

It wasn't just Ron's eyes. They had walked into a patch of tents that were all covered with a thick growth of shamrocks, so that it looked as though small, oddly shaped hillocks had sprouted out of the earth. Grinning faces could be seen under those that had their flaps open. Then, from behind them, [Ron and Hermione] heard their names.

"Ron! Hermione!"

It was Seamus Finnigan, their fellow Gryffindor fourth year. He was sitting in front of his own shamrock-covered tent, with a sandy-haired woman who had to be his mother, and his best friend, Dean Thomas, also of Gryffindor. Both Gryffindors greeted Ron and Hermione before turning to see Harry standing next to them. Seamus did a double take.

"Harry?" he said, "is that you?"

"Hi Seamus, Dean" said Harry with a smile, "it's been a long time."

"Wow Harry" said Dean looking him up and down, "you look good."

"Thanks" said Harry, "it's good to see you both."

"Where have you been this past year?" asked Seamus, "no one knew where you were except for the headmaster and he wouldn't tell anyone."

"But I see you're with Ron and Hermione today" said Dean, "does this mean they know where you were?"

"Maybe" said Harry, "maybe I'm just visiting from out of the blue." Neither Ron nor Hermione said anything to this although Hermione rolled her eyes a bit before Harry relented.

"Yes, they have a general idea of where I am now" said Harry, "I'm in America and I'm a student at Ilvermorny now. That's not a secret."

"Who are your friends?" asked Seamus, "we knows the twins and Ginny of course, but who are the others?"

"Some friends from where I live now" said Harry. He introduced his teammates to Sean and Dean.

"How do you do?" asked Scott shaking their hands, "it's good to meet some of Harry's older friends. I'm guessing from the decorations that you're rooting for Ireland?"

"Of course I am" said Seamus, "with a family name like Finnigan who else would I root for?"

"Very succinctly and logically stated" said Hank.

"Is anyone else here that we know?" asked Harry.

"Oh yeah" said Dean, "most of our classmates are here. We saw Oliver Wood not too long ago. He got signed to Puddlemere United's reserve team."

"Good for him" said Harry, "I'll have to congratulate him if I see him."

"I'd be careful there" said Seamus, "Oliver was pretty angry that you didn't come back to Hogwarts last year. I'm amazed he didn't try to hunt you down and drag you back."

"Thanks for the warning" said Harry looking a little pale. He'd never met a bigger Quidditch fanatic than Oliver Wood and he wasn't sure he wanted to see him now.

After a few more minutes of talking Harry and his group continued their walk taking in the various sights of the campgrounds. There were a lot of memorable things to see – some of them for the wrong reasons. At one point they ran across a pair of men who were having a heated argument. One of them was a very old wizard who was wearing a long flowery nightgown. The other was clearly a Ministry wizard; he was holding out a pair of pin-striped trousers and almost crying with exasperation.

"Just put them on, Archie, there's a good chap. You can't walk around like that, the Muggle at the gate's already getting suspicious —"

"I bought this in a Muggle shop," said the old wizard stubbornly. "Muggles wear them."

"Muggle women wear them, Archie, not the men, they wear these," said the Ministry wizard, and he brandished the pinstriped trousers.

"I'm not putting them on," said old Archie in indignation. "I like a healthy breeze 'round my privates, thanks."

At this point Jean, Hermione, and Ginny all had to turn away to try to keep either of the combatants from seeing them laugh. Bobby gave Harry a look.

"Your world is weird" said Bobby.

"I know" said Harry with a small grin.

"Scott" Jean sent to Scott, "I could influence that man to put on the trousers."

"Don't" said Scott, "you know what Professor X would say about using your powers that way."

"It would only be a little push" said Jean, "if he's really set on not changing he'll ignore the suggestion."

"Better not" said Scott, "better safe than sorry."

"Then we'd better move on" said Jean, "or Ginny, Hermione, and I are all going to lose it."

"Right" said Scott who signaled for the others to start walking again. They did and left old Archie and the Ministry wizard to their argument which didn't look like it would end any time soon.

Harry lagged behind the others just a bit as he was still watching the argument. When he finally turned back to rejoin his friends he bumped into a person who had been walking by him that he hadn't seen until then.

"Oh!" said Harry in surprise, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bump into you." He took a good look at the person he was talking to. She was a girl, probably about his age. She was a black girl with long hair that fell down on either side of her beautiful face. Unusually for someone her age her hair was white.

"That's all right" she said and Harry heard a very definite accent that he didn't recognize, "these things happen."

"Hello" said Harry holding out his hand, "I'm Harry Potter." He saw her eyes briefly look up at his forehead before returning to his face.

"I know who you are" she said quietly, "and you probably know that I know."

"I keep hoping I'll meet a magical someday who doesn't" he said with a rueful smile.

"I can understand that" she said, "I'm sorry not to be that person."

"That's okay. What's your name?"

"I'm Ororo Munroe. Nice to meet you Mr. Potter."

"Please call me Harry" said Harry. "It's nice to meet you Ms. Munroe."

"If I'm to call you Harry then please call me Ororo."

"I'll be happy too" said Harry, "for obvious reasons I won't ask if you're here for the World Cup. Instead I'll ask where you've come in from."

"I live in Kenya" was the reply, "I know you're from here."

"Originally yes" said Harry, "I live in the U.S. now."

"Really?" asked Ororo in surprise, "how did that happen?"

"It came about when I transferred from Hogwarts to Ilvermorny a year ago" said Harry, "it's kind of a complicated story. I don't want to bore you."

"That's all right" Ororo said, "what year are you in?"

"I'm going into my fourth year. You?"

"Me too" was the answer, "I've been attending Uagadou but this year I'm taking an exchange year at Ilvermorny. We'll be in the same year."

"Oh nice" said Harry, "I'll see you there then."

"I hope so" said Ororo with a smile, "it will be good to have at least one person there that I've met before."

"I look forward to it" said Harry, "I'd better get back to my friends. Good to meet you Ororo."

"Likewise Harry." They parted company with Harry returning to his friends.

"Who was that?" asked Ron.

"Just someone who will be at Ilvermorny this year" said Harry.

"Really?" said Bobby, "you seemed a little taken with her."

"Indeed he did" said Fred, "could it be – "

"– that little Harry has a crush?" finished George.

"Knock it off guys" said Harry blushing, "I don't even know her."

"You will" said Bobby.

"You're a seer now?" shot back Harry, "then tell me if she's the one I'll marry and how many kids we'll have."

"Yes, and 4" said Bobby with a grin.

"I think it will be 3" said Warren. George suddenly whipped out a small notebook.

"Shall we take bets?" he said, "I choose 5."

"I choose 2" said Fred.

"I choose that you guys are going to be in a world of hurt very soon if you don't knock it off right now" said Harry. This just made everybody laugh.

"Welcome to the Weasley Twins' Tweaking club" said Ron, "they tease everyone like that almost all the time Harry, you know that."

"Except for Ginny" said George.

"Oh?" asked Jean, "why's that?"

"Because when Ginny gets mad she gets mean " said Fred.

"Yes" said George, "and you don't want to be on the receiving end of any of her hexes, especially her Bat Bogey hex."

"Do I even want to know what that is?" asked Jean.

"NO!" said George, Fred, and Ron all together. Ginny smirked.

The group wandered around for a while longer but eventually they all made their way back to Sirius' tent where afternoon tea was being prepared just as they arrived. Professor Xavier, Hagrid, and Professor Dumbledore were still there talking with Mr. and Mrs. Weasley and stayed for tea. All three of them left afterwards to return to their respective homes. Not too long after that it was time for supper which was eaten in the tent diningroom before it was finally time to head to the stadium for the game itself.

Sirius had gotten a private box for the game which was located all the way at the top of the stadium right near the top box where Minister Fudge and the Bulgarian Minister would both be sitting along with their invited guests. The view at the top of the stadium was spectacular.

A hundred thousand witches and wizards were taking their places in the seats, which rose in levels around the long oval field. Everything was suffused with a mysterious golden light, which seemed to come from the stadium itself. The field looked smooth as velvet from their lofty position. At either end of the field stood three goal hoops, fifty feet high; right opposite them, almost at Harry's eye level, was a gigantic blackboard. Gold writing kept dashing across it as though an invisible giant's hand were scrawling upon the blackboard and then wiping it off again; watching it, Harry saw that it was flashing advertisements across the field.

The Bluebottle: A Broom for All the Family - safe, reliable, and with Built-in Anti-Burgler Buzzer ... Mrs. Shower's All Purpose Magical Mess Remover: No Pain, No Stain! ... Gladrags Wizardwear - London, Paris, Hogsmeade...

"This is very impressive" said Hank to Sirius, "except for the obviously magical touches one could easily mistake it for a non-magical stadium. The fact that it is a temporary construct makes it even more impressive."

"The Ministry does try" said Sirius, "I wondered at first if you and your fellow X-Men would be able to get here since it's covered with muggle repelling charms but I remembered how you were all able to see Hogwarts without any problems. Professor Xavier said that being mutants was the cause of that. I heard him say once that it was because he was a mutant that he was able to see the Leaky Cauldron and other magical places that are usually warded against muggles. I thought that would be true here too and I'm glad I was right. I know how much it means to Harry for you to be here for his birthday." Hank nodded his agreement.

Over the next half hour or so the stadium filled up as people found their seats from those sitting all the way down at field level (which were the worst seats in the stadium unlike in a mundane stadium where they would have been some of the better seats) to those in the prime seats up at the higher levels. When Harry looked over to the top box he saw that Minister Fudge had arrived along with some other people whom he didn't know. Then he did a bit of a double take when he saw that the girl Ororo that he'd bumped into earlier was also in the box next to a woman who was clearly a relative of hers, probably her mother. Harry wondered just who Ororo and her family were to rate seats in the top box.

At the same time Harry was looking over at the top box someone in that box happened to catch sight of him and whispered something to Fudge who quickly looked over at Harry with wide eyes. He said something to an aide standing near him and the aide nodded.

"I think you're about to get an invitation" said Sirius who had seen the incident along with Harry.

"Joy" said Harry in a flat tone. Sirius' prediction was soon proved correct when the minister's aide came to their box to invite both Harry and Sirius over to the Top Box.

"Do we have to go?" asked Harry.

"No" said Sirius, "but it would look bad if we didn't. We don't have to stay long. Also he helped free me from Azkaban so I find it prudent to be appropriately grateful."

"Okay" said Harry with a sigh. He and Sirius accompanied the aide over to the top box. Harry knew that he would have to be a little careful how he acted around the minister as he had only met him one other time. That occasion had been after the X-Men had defended Hogwarts from Magneto and his Brotherhood so Harry had met Fudge as Lightning. As far as Minister Fudge knew this would be the first time the two of them were meeting and Harry didn't want to do anything to change that impression.

Minister Fudge was very effusive when he and Harry met.

"I'm very happy to meet you Mr. Potter" said Fudge, "thank you for accepting my invitation."

"It's my pleasure" said Harry who turned to look at the other occupants of the box while Fudge greeted Sirius. Harry saw Ororo and smiled.

"Hello again" he said going over to where Ororo was, "it's nice to see you again Ororo."

"Likewise Harry" said Ororo. The woman standing next to Ororo looked at Harry with interest.

"Do you two know each other?" she asked in the same accent that Ororo had.

"We met earlier today mother" said Ororo.

"I'm afraid we literally bumped into each other by accident" said Harry looking a little embarrassed, "then we talked for a bit."

"Harry is also attending Ilvermorny" said Ororo to her mother.

"Well I'm glad you 'll know at least one person there" said Ororo's mother.

"Yes" said Ororo, "Harry, this is my mother N'Dare Munroe. Mother, this is Harry Potter."

"I am happy to meet you" said N'Dare after taking the obligatory glance up at his scar. Before Harry could reply Minister Fudge joined them.

"Ah Mr. Potter" he said, "I see you've met Queen N'Dare and Princess Ororo." Harry's jaw dropped when he heard that. Queen? Princess? He looked over at Ororo whose eyes were dancing with some mirth.

"My mother is the queen of magical Kenya" said Ororo.

"Oh" said Harry reflexively giving Queen N'Dare slight bow, "I – didn't know that. Should I address you as 'your majesty?'"

"Only on formal occasions" was the reply, "otherwise 'ma'am' will do."

"I'll remember that" said Harry before turning back to Ororo, "so is your father the king?"

"No" said Ororo.

"David, my husband" said Queen N'Dare, "is an American. He is simply my husband."

"I was born in New York City" said Ororo, "that was before mother became queen. I don't remember it. I was only 6 months old when mother succeeded to the throne and we had to go back to Kenya. That's why I'm going to Ilvermorny this year, so I can get to know my father's homeland a little bit."

"I'm surprised" said Harry, "that when I met you earlier there wasn't any security around you."

"Oh but there was" said Ororo, "you just didn't see it. They're very good that way but if you'd tried to attack me they would have been there before you could finish saying a spell. They'll be at Ilvermorny too. You don't want to meet them." Harry wasn't sure what to make of that comment and he wondered just who were the people who guarded the Kenyan royal family. He had a feeling he didn't want to know.

"Will you be staying in Britain for long?" he asked changing the sunject.

"No" said Ororo, "we're leaving immediately after the game ends. We won't be staying the night."

Harry and Sirius didn't stay in the Top Box for much longer as Fudge was aware that they were with a large party and wished to rejoin them however before they left the minister introduced him to his Bulgarian counterpart and several other guests in the box with him including Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy who were there at his personal invitation although, Harry noted, Draco was not with them. Harry wondered about this but didn't feel like asking why, especially as he and Lucius Malfoy were not exactly on good terms. Sirius had briefly spoken to the Malfoys as Mrs. Malfoy was his cousin but only to satisfy the social requirements of the situation. He and Lucius did not get along.

Harry and Sirius returned to their box just as the game was getting ready to start. The first event was the presentation of the team mascots. For the Bulgarians it was a number of veela, who appeared to be a troupe of extremely beautiful women. They came out on the field and began to dance for the crowd. When they did Harry felt a tug at his mind as if something was trying to get in. A year ago Harry might not have noticed the invasion at all but in the last year he, like all of his fellow X-Men, had been learning from Professor Xavier how to protect his mind against intruders. He immediately raised his mental shields and the tug was blocked out. He could still feel it faintly outside his shielding but it could do nothing to him now. He looked at the other occupants of the box. Scott, Bobby, Hank, and Warren all seemed to be okay, no doubt having done the same as he had. Sirius, Remus, and Mr. Weasley also seemed all right as did Jean, Ginny, Hermione, and Mrs. Weasley. They were all looking at the Weasley boys in a mixture of concern and amusement. Although Bill and Charlie didn't seem to be affected the same could not be said for the other four boys. Percy, Fred, George, and Ron all had dazed expressions on their faces as if under some kind of mind spell. When the dance ended the four boys came out of their trances and all looked very embarrassed.

"What was that?" Harry asked Sirius.

"Veela have an allure" said Sirius, "that attracts men if they can't shield their minds from it. I'm glad you can do that."

"Professor Xavier taught all of us to shield our minds" said Harry, "he's really good."

"I know" said Sirius, "I could tell by the way your male teammates and you were unaffected by the allure."

"What about you?" asked Harry.

"I've been working on rebuilding my occlumency shields these past months" said Sirius, "Azkaban did me no favors in that department. As a werewolf Remus has some natural immunity to veela, and Arthur is happily married. Also I'm sure he doesn't want to face his wife's wrath if he should lose control." Sirius said this last part with a hint of a grin.

Following the display by the veelas the Irish mascots came out to greet the audience. These were a large number of leprechauns who showered the audience with gold coins although Sirius and Remus warned Harry and his friends that it wasn't like real gold and would vanish after a few hours. After that the two teams were finally introduced and the game began.

Harry hadn't been to a Quidditch match since his second year at Hogwarts. For various reasons he hadn't seen any of the games at Ilvermorny. He had forgotten how intense a game could get although he recognized at once that these teams were playing at a higher level than the ones at school. They were professionals and it showed. The game was faster, more intense, and even more brutal at times than any game Harry had ever seen or been a part of. There were new moves that Harry didn't know, most notably something called the "Wronski Feint" which the Bulgarian seeker used against the Irish one which resulted in the Irish seeker crashing into the ground hard. Harry was amazed he wasn't badly hurt by it.

This was the first time any of his teammates had ever seen a Quidditch game. Although the game had been explained to them and they knew, in general, what to expect Harry still had to answer a lot of their questions during the match, especially from Hank who wanted to dissect every aspect of the game. Eventually Sirius and Remus stepped in to help answer many of the team's questions which allowed Harry to watch the game with fewer distractions.

In the end Ireland won the game when the Bulgarian seeker caught the golden snitch while Ireland was 160 points ahead making the final score Ireland: 170, Bulgaria: 160.

"What did he catch the Snitch for?" Ron bellowed, even as he jumped up and down, applauding with his hands over his head. "He ended it when Ireland were a hundred and sixty points ahead, the idiot!"

"He knew they were never going to catch up!" Harry shouted back over all the noise, also applauding loudly. "The Irish Chasers were too good. . . . He wanted to end it on his terms, that's all."

A presentation of the Quidditch Cup to the winning team followed after which the crowd began to leave the stadium and return to their tents. As Harry left his box he saw Ororo and her mother preparing to leave the Top Box. Harry caught Ororo's eye and waved at her. She waved back and mouthed "See you at school" to him. Hermione was the only person who saw this.

"Was that the same girl you were speaking to earlier?" she asked Harry in a low voice.

"Yes" said Harry.

"Who is she?"

"Her name's Ororo Munroe" said Harry, "she's Kenyan but she's going to be doing an exchange year at Ilvermorny this year. Her regular school is Uagadou."

"I've heard about that school" said Hermione, "that's the best school of magic in Africa."

"Doesn't surprise me at all" said Harry as they all walked down the stadium stairs towards the ground and the campsite. When they finally reached the tents, nobody felt like sleeping at all, and given the level of noise around them, [Mrs.] Weasley agreed that they could all have one last cup of cocoa together before turning in. They were soon arguing enjoyably about the match; Mr. Weasley got drawn into a disagreement about cobbing with Charlie, and it was only when Ginny fell asleep right at the tiny table and spilled hot chocolate all over the floor that [Mrs.] Weasley called a halt to the verbal replays and insisted that everyone go to bed.

Everyone split up and went off to their rooms. Sirius' tent was big enough that everyone could have their own rooms if they wanted them although Mr. and Mrs. Weasley shared a room as did the twins. Harry went to his room and changed into pajamas before getting into bed and falling asleep almost at once. It had been quite a birthday.

(To Be Continued)

A/N - There you go. The future Storm has made her debut. In X-Men canon Storm's mother N'Dare was a Kenyan tribal princess. I've given her a promotion here. Also she and Storm's father are both alive. Originally Harry wasn't going to meet her until after the school year started but I thought it would be better if they met at least once before that so they wouldn't have any trouble talking to each other when they both got to Ilvermorny, hence her appearance several chapters earlier than originally planned.

See you all next Sunday. Meanwhile please take a moment to leave me some feedback. Constructive comments are always welcome but no flames or trolls please. Thanks for reading and stay safe and well. Cheers!
