Ryder stretched as he woke up. He was feeling especially determined to search for his lost pups today. He slipped into his googly-eyed Chase slippers and walked to the level below. He grabbed a bowl and filled it with milk, then his favorite Apollo the Super-Pup cereal.
As he spooned bites into his mouth, sitting beside his wondrous view of the city, the doorbell rang. He glanced below and saw two small figures, accompanied by two larger figures. He excitedly ran down to the door. The thought that made adrenaline run through his body was that it was his pups at the door. He opened the door to be greeted by Zuma and Liberty, who jumped on him and covered his face in puppy kisses. Ryder laughed.
"I'm so glad you were able to make it here!" he exclaimed.
"Me too!" Zuma replied.
Liberty leapt off of Ryder, and Zuma did, as well.
"Ryder, we also found Chase's parents!" Liberty enlightened. "Meet Delta and Henry!"
Ryder walked towards the older pooches. "Hey there!" he welcomed.
"Hello! We're so glad our son has been able to stay with, from what Zuma and Liberty have described, a wonderful owner," Delta responded.
Ryder was about to reply, but was interrupted by Henry, who grumbled, "Yeah, yeah, do you have any fancy-shmancy human gadgets that could help us find him?"
"I've tried, but nothing has worked," the boy sighed. "But once the others are up, I'll be sure to organize some parties to search for him."
"Good." Henry rejoined.
Meanwhile, Chase and Skye were walking down a sidewalk, trying to find their way to The Lookout. They had come across a crosswalk.
Skye watched as many cars zoomed across it. "Are you sure this is the right way to The Lookout, Chase?" she questioned, out of her creeping fear.
"Yup, but it'll be safe once the light turns green," Chase comforted. They both gazed up at the crosswalk sign until it turned green. Chase began to run across, while Skye more slowly and cautiously.
While Chase was at the opposite curb, waiting for Skye, he recommended, "Uhm, you could go a bit faster," not trying to sound rude, but trying for her to make it across before cars possibly could run her over.
Then—suddenly—blasting music started crawling near him, followed by the sound of grinding wheels. A van was driving quickly towards him! Bad memories from his young days flashed in his head. He wanted to move, but was paralyzed in fear. But when he was certain it was the end for him, something pounced him, and knocked him out of the vehicle's path. He glanced up, and saw Skye on top of him. She had saved his life!
"T-thank you so much for saving me, Skye," Chase uttered.
He expected Skye to reply with "You're welcome" but instead she blurted out, "I love you!"
