"Addiska." Zed said, he sounded perfectly calm, but his eyes and the veins on his face were still black.
Addison looked up at him. She didn't want to ever let go of him again, but she untangled one arm to grab his Z-band from her pocket. "Zed, can you put your Z-band back on?"
"Gra." Zed answered, he held out his wrist, and moments later the crackle of the Z-band sounded, and the black veins receded back into Zed's skin. His strong, yet gentle grip around her relaxed slightly before returning much more tenderly as she once again pulled herself tighter to his beautiful, slowly beating heart.
Their friends released a collective sigh of relief and then started to cheer. Bree ran up to Bonzo to give him a hug.
"Zed, are you OK?" Addison asked, still hugging him close to her.
"Yeah. I'm me. Don't worry." Zed said with a smile.
"YEAH!" Wynter excitedly howled. "We crushed it! We nailed it! We stole rock YES!" She then tried to calm herself down a bit. "Too much?" She whispered to Willa.
"Perfect." Willa assured her. "We did it."
Zed and Addison smiled at each other as the wolves let out howls of happiness.
Everyone else soon joined in, including Bonzo, "Aow aow awoo!"
"Hey, you said that perfectly." Wyatt nudged his shoulder with respect.
"Bonzo's got an ear for languages." Bree smiled up at her boyfriend.
Working together, and with the earth no longer shaking, moving the Moonstone to the surface was an easy task. Zed and Addison helped carry the stone too, but kept hold of each other's hand, and Addison kept turning back to make sure Zed was still behind her. They finally made it back to the surface and brought the Moonstone until they were back in the middle of Zombietown.
"Zed! Addison! Everyone! Get back up here!" Zevon shouted from above the hole. "Is everyone OK?"
"Don't worry Pops everything's fine. We found the wolves' Moonstone! We just need some more help lifting it out of here."
"Alright then, come on everybody!" With some more help from their neighbors soon the Moonstone was sitting in the middle of the street, and thankfully the power seemed to be fixed so the light gardens were all glowing in the darkness.
They all took a break and grabbed some water to refresh themselves for a moment. Zed and Addison were leaning up against the fence in front of his yard, neither wanted to leave the other's side.
"Are you really OK Zed?"
"Yeah, totally, you were great, you got me out of there."
"No, that was all you, but we need to talk."
"About what? I am in trouble?" Zed asked nervously noticing her serious tone.
"Yes and no," Addison sighed, reaching up and running her hands through his hair to remind herself that he was still there. "I don't blame you, because you were great every single moment, but you did something really stupid that you will never be doing again."
"What did I do? Did I almost bite Bree or something?" Zed got more and more worried.
"No it was nothing like that, you were the opposite of a monster, you are everyone's hero, but you just had to be too much of a hero Super Zombie. We'll talk later. Somewhere private." Addison said, as her cellphone started ringing and interrupting her. "It's Bucky. Hi Bucky."
"Addison, are you OK? I just have this feeling that earthquake has something to do with you all."
"The Moonstone was causing the earthquakes, but we saved it so now the wolves will be alright." Addison explained.
"So you guys really did it, the wolves won't be sick anymore?"
"Yep, we all worked together, we're still in Zombietown and about to leave to take it back to the forest."
"Do you want help? I can bring my van over so we can get there faster."
"Yes, definitely, that would be so much help Bucky, thank you."
"No problem Cuz, plus I want to see what exactly this Moonstone is, and if Willa will let me, maybe meet some more of the wolves, and apologize to them too."
"Stop it Bucky, you don't need to apologize for anything, we couldn't have done this without you either."
"OK, I'll be there in a few minutes, See ya!"
"Bye Bucky." Addison hung up, and Zed's face flashed like he just remembered something, he pulled her along with him over to a chair sitting in his yard and he carefully picked up the picture frame he had grabbed during their escape from the house. He was holding it close to his face, and above Addison's head so she couldn't see it.
"What is it Zed?"
"It's safe." He sighed in relief then his eyes moved back down to Addison. "It's…it's a family photo." He slowly moved his hand down, his other arm still wrapped around her so Addison could see it.
She smiled to herself, there was Zevon, looking a few years younger and smiling brightly, holding an even tinier and cuter Zoey in his arms. She looked barely two years old. And…standing beside Zevon was a zombie woman that Addison had never seen before. She had one arm wrapped around Zevon, and standing in between them was a younger Zed, obviously long before he had his growth spurt as both his parents still stood tall above him. He also had the most adorable smile on his face, and Addison had to tear her focus away from Zed and studied the woman she had never met.
"Is that?"
"Mom." Zed answered, his voice full of emotion. "This was the last family photo we had before…" Zed broke off and when Addison glanced at him he could see his eyes misting.
"I'm so sorry Zed, you don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to." Addison hugged him, "And if you ever want to talk you know I'll always be here to listen."
"I know," Zed reached up and cleared his eyes. "I will tell you, someday I promise Addie, but obviously not tonight. We have more important things to do, but when I saw it falling I just knew I had to save it."
"I completely understand Zed. How about we bring it back inside and then we can tell the wolves about Bucky's offer."
"That sounds good. I love you Addie."
"I love you too Zed."
They walked into the house hand in hand, and both looked around in dismay at all the fallen drawings, décor, and random items littering the floor.
"Don't worry." Zed told her, "it will just take a little cleaning up and everything will be alright again." Zed set the frame gently on the coffee table in the living room.
"I know, we made it all alright again." Addison agreed. They shared a quick kiss, enjoying the few moments of privacy before rejoining everyone else outside.
"Bucky said he'll bring his van to help us take the Moonstone out to the woods if you want, and he would like to meet more of the wolves if you'll let him." Addison explained.
"Of course, he can come, it will probably be faster if he can take it in his van than us walking the full ten miles out with it. He can be the third human allowed in the Den, but that's it for now." Willa agreed.
"Thanks Willa." Addison smiled.
Zoey ran out of the house from where she had just put Puppy back in his kennel. "So that was what made all those earthquakes?" she asked, pointing at the Moonstone.
"Yep, and now that we found it, none of the wolves will be sick anymore Zoey." Addison explained.
"Yay! Does that mean I can meet more of them now and they can come to school?"
"Maybe if they want." Zed said, "I'm sure they would love to meet you Zoey." He looked over at the wolves.
"Zoey, do you want to come to the Den with us?" Willa asked, "I know some pups who would love to meet you."
"Yes Yes Yes!" Zoey shouted, "I want to meet new friends and invite them to school and cheer practice and recess and sleepovers! Can I bring Puppy too?"
"OK OK, one thing a time kid, you are way too cute for your own good. I'm sure everyone will love to meet Puppy just as much as they'll love to meet you too." Wynter knelt down to Zoey's level, "And just between us," Wynter whispered, "if you give any of them a scratch behind the ear, they'll be your friends for life."
"Thank you Wynter. I can't wait, can we go soon?"
"We have to wait for Bucky." Willa explained. "He's giving us a ride."
"How are the nine or ten of us going to fit in that thing along with the Moonstone?" Eliza demanded.
"Don't worry about us, we can run along beside the van down the road now that we're back to full strength." Wyatt said, his eyes glowing slightly in the darkness.
"Show off." Eliza scoffed.
"Well yeah, we have to, now that Zed showed us just what a full zom can do, we may not be as strong as a zombie, but I guarantee we're faster."
"Are you challenging me to a race Wyatt?"
"No he isn't and you aren't doing anything without your Z-band ever again unless it's an emergency." Addison ordered, her voice rising and she squeezed Zed's hand, looking straight into his eyes.
"Of course not, Addie, I promise that was a one-time thing."
"Zed, do I want to know what they're talking about?" Zevon asked sternly crossing his arms.
"Look, for the record, we are all perfectly fine and everyone else, including Addison, told me to do it. And you know she wouldn't let me do anything dangerous unless it was an absolute emergency."
"Zed."
Zed held his hands up in surrender. "OK, so we found the Moonstone and were about to carry it out but the wall we walked through collapsed again, trapping us inside, and the wolves weren't strong enough to lift if up so I took off my Z-Band and held up the wall so everyone else could escape and we are all perfectly safe and sound. Addison kept me calm the entire time so no one was in any more danger than we already were."
"Zed. What am I going to do with you?" Zevon shook his head with a sigh.
"We wouldn't have made it out of there without him Zevon, Zed saved us, and he saved my family." Willa defended him.
"He's a hero." Eliza said, "And it was my idea so if anything you can blame me."
"Or me, he wouldn't have done it if I hadn't told him too." Addison added.
"Alright, I'm obviously happy you are all safe, but Zed, you and I are talking about this later."
Addison showed a small, tight smile, "Trust me, Zevon, you aren't the only one."
"OK what did I do? All I remember is thinking I had to protect you and move the wall."
"You did that perfectly, in fact too perfectly, but we can talk later, look here comes Bucky." Addison said as he pulled up.
"Hey Cuz, everyone. So that's the Moonstone huh? Shiny."
Willa answered him, "Yes it is Bucky, and we wouldn't have found it without you either, you are welcome to come with us to the Wolf Den."
"Thank you, Willa, I'm honored. Are you all ready to go?"
"Yep." Everyone nodded so a few minutes later they had the Moonstone loaded in the back of Bucky's van and everyone else piled in, it was still just as cramped as before, but even Eliza was in too good of a mood to complain, much.
As Bucky drove out of town the wolves easily kept pace alongside the van like an honor guard, and they weren't just running, they were jumping around and howling in delight.
"You know," Zed whispered to Addison, "I think this is the most I've happy I've ever seen Willa since we met her, and Wyatt and Wynter too, but especially her."
"Makes sense, they finally succeeded and now her family will be safe and healthy. I'm sure I'd be the exact same way."
"You're probably right. Hey, now we have a reason to celebrate at Prawn tomorrow."
"And if all the wolves come it will be even more fun. One for all?"
"Yep, now we'll all be united. But the most important thing is that I get to dance the night away with you."
"That's all I want tomorrow to be too. I can't wait to see you in your suit."
"And I can't wait to finally see your dress that you won't let me see."
"Addison, can I see your dress?" Zoey asked.
"Sure Zoey, but you can't tell Zed anything, I want it to be a surprise." Addison laughed.
"I promise, I won't tell Zed anything." Zoey mimed locking her mouth and throwing away the key.
"Hey, no fair!" Zed laughed.
"Here you go Zoey." Addison handed her phone over carefully out of Zed's sight.
"Awwee you look so pretty, I can't wait to take pictures with you tomorrow night."
"Yep, I promise there will be lots of pictures Zoey."
"Hey Zoey, what color is it?" Zed whispered across to her, even though Addison was sitting between them.
"It's bright orange with purple polka dots and a giant green bow!"
"Come on I know that isn't what it is."
"Addison said you have to wait, and I'm not saying anything." Zoey crossed her arms in defiance.
"Come on, I'm your brother."
"Sorry I promised Addison." Zoey smiled.
"Less than 24 hours Zed, I think you can wait a little longer." Addison reminded him.
"Fine." Zed groaned playfully, "but only because I know you'll be the most beautiful girl at Prawn no matter what you're wearing."
"Good answer Handsome."
"Who's a good boy?" Zoey asked.
Zed rolled his eyes but kept his smile on his face. "Ruff Ruff, I am."
"Good Boy." Zoey patted his head.
"Now Zoey, you do know you can't just treat all the werewolves like Puppy right?" Zed reminded her.
"I know, they're gonna be my new friends."
"Alright, just make sure you're nice to them."
"Of course, she will be, she's Zoey, I've literally never seen her be mean to anyone." Addison said.
"Thank you Addison, I'll be good, I promise."
Outside the van, the wolves stopped running and Bucky slowed down and rolled down his window.
"This is probably the best place for us to go on foot from here." Willa told them.
"OK let's go everyone!" Addison cheered.
Everyone jumped out and lifted the Moonstone out of the van and made their way through the forest, once again Bree, Addison, and now Bucky felt mostly blind in the darkness and were relying completely on their friends to guide them.
After one more half hour of travel, they finally made it to the Den. They walked through the pitch-black tunnel and Willa, Wyatt and Wynter all let out matching howls of delight as they entered the main cave.
All the other wolves looked just as sick as the last time Addison was here, but this time their eyes lit up in happiness, and many of them jumped up as quickly as they could.
They placed the Moonstone in the center of the cave and Willa howled again. "AWWWOOO! We found the Moonstone, everyone will be safe again, come on, charge your necklaces!"
The wolves walked up in groups and took turns pressing their necklaces against the Moonstone, when they took them back they were glowing blue with energy and every wolf immediately stood up straighter and howled in delight. Hugs were shared all around and after the first wolves were healthy again they ran off into the tunnels.
Addison and her friends stood off to the side and watched the procession, there were even more wolves than she thought, as more and more carefully made their way out of the tunnels with the help of their newly healed packmates.
"Wayde! I'm so happy you're healthy again. Wynter was hugging and nuzzling her head against another werewolf's neck."
"I missed you, but I'm so glad you're OK too Wynter."
"I know, don't you feel amazing! I feel like I could climb the tallest tree in the forest and jump up and touch the moon!" Wynter said excitedly. "Too Much?"
"Never, you're perfect Wynter, I can't wait to take you for walks under the full moonlight."
"And stay up talking every single night. Or we could go shopping, you should see all the sneakers and everything they have in the stores."
"How could I ever tell you no. I can't wait to be the new kid in town, and discover everything with you."
"Well then, I'm all about the new kid in town. I'm never gonna let you go."
"Me neither Wynter, me neither. I never doubted for a minute you, Willa, and Wyatt would succeed."
"It wasn't just us though, all our new friends helped us. Especially Zed we all would have died without him there." Wynter pointed at her new friends.
"What did he do?"
"So did you feel the earthquakes about an hour ago?"
"Yeah, that was the most terrified I'd ever been, none of us even had the energy to run away if we had to, all we could do was just sit in here and hope the walls wouldn't come crumbling down."
"Well that was the Moonstone, it opened up a long tunnel to the surface so we all ran in to save it, but me, Wynter, and Wyatt couldn't lift it ourselves so our friends followed us in and then the entrance to the tunnel collapsed, sealing us in. So Zed took off his Z-band and went full zombie and moved the wall so we could get out. It was so scary. But so exciting!"
"I agree it sounds like you had a wild night already. But how would you like a walk under the full moonlight, I haven't been outside in days."
"I've never heard something so perfect, there ain't no other way to word it, let's go Wayde!"
Wynter and Wayde ran out into the woods, howling to the moon, several other wolves following them and howling just as excitedly.
Willa was watching everyone greet each other and continue to have fun, it had been so long since the entire pack had a reason to dance the night away beneath the moonlight, she let out another sigh of relief and looked over her shoulder. She couldn't stop herself from running forward. Wyatt following just behind her.
"Mother, Father." Willa hugged them both tightly with all her strength, and they hugged her and Wyatt back just as strong.
"I always knew you two would succeed." Her mother, Winona smiled.
"And we couldn't be more proud." Her father, Waylon added.
"But we almost didn't, every single thing we tried it felt like we were taking two steps forward and then one step back. Trust me you do not want to read any of Seabrook's history books." Willa rolled her eyes.
"But I see you both found the allies you needed." Waylon said, glancing over at the humans and zombies sitting off to the side and greeting the wolves.
"Yeah, we couldn't have done it without them." Wyatt agreed. "And they aren't just our allies, they're our friends."
"Definitely, they showed us that not all humans are monsters, and the zombies are braver than we ever thought. Willa paused for a moment and asked her parents, "Mother, Father, if it's alright with you, can I make them honorary members of the pack? I know they'll always do anything they can to help us should we need it, and they've more than earned it."
"Of course Willa, you're the Alpha, it's your decision." Winona nodded.
"Then I want them to be part of the pack." Willa announced more confidently.
"Then they will be." Waylon agreed.
"Well…also can I give leadership back to you two? I love my pack, and I will do anything for them, but I want the chance to go to school, to hang out with my new friends, and have fun. I'm sorry."
Winona reached out and gently patted her shoulder. "Don't worry Willa. You proved yourself, to us and everyone else, you don't need to be strong all the time. We will happily resume our leadership until you decide you are ready to take it back."
"Thank you, but can we keep going to school? I think our days of hiding in the woods are over."
"Yes, I agree, I think it's time we officially meet Seabrook and join their community."
"OK, we've already talked to a few of their leaders so they know we aren't dangerous, and they know some things about the Moonstone, but they don't know anything about the pack yet."
"Don't worry, we'll be happy to meet with them. Don't worry Willa, we are strong again, and you've seen Seabrook, and if you say the humans aren't monsters, that's all we need to know to give them another chance."
"Speaking of school, they're having a dance tomorrow, can we go?"
"Of course Wyatt, why would we ever stop you from that. So? Who's the lucky girl?" Winona smiled.
"What? I mean we'd all go with our friends." Wyatt stuttered out, blushing.
"She's the short green-haired zombie over there, her name's Eliza." Willa smirked.
"We're going as friends, that's totally normal."
"She's given him a nickname, Fido, and he follows her around like a puppy dog already."
"Willa!" Wyatt groaned.
"Fine they are just friends, and that's just because Eliza has been so focused on saving the powerplant and helping us save the Moonstone."
"Stud," Waylon nudged Wyatt in the ribs.
"Father!" Wyatt groaned again blushing. "How about we welcome everyone into the pack now?" Wyatt asked changing the subject. "Wynter and everyone just came back."
"Fine we'll stop embarrassing you for now Wyatt, we'll do plenty of that tomorrow."
"Mother!"
"You can do the honors Willa, you are still the Alpha."
"Of course. Aaawwwwooo!" Willa released a long, drawn-out howl that drew everyone's attention. Within moments the sounds of happiness and excitement died down as everyone turned to look at Willa, standing on the ledge above them.
Willa stepped forward so that the moon shown down on her like a spotlight. "I am so happy to see our pack strong and healthy again. I want to thank all of you for all you have done for your packmates because as long as we are together, the pack is forever."
"AWWWOOO!" A chorus of howls filled the cave before quieting down again.
"But it wasn't just me, Wyatt, and Wynter who found the Moonstone, we couldn't have succeeded without the help of our friends. We owe them all an unpayable debt, they trusted us and accepted us at Seabrook, and together, we have proved that no one, human, zombie, or werewolf is a monster, we don't have to be divided behind walls and fences to keep ourselves safe, we need to build connections with our neighbors, our friends. Because we are stronger together, and when we all work together, we can accomplish anything, even rediscover a secret that was buried for over 100 years."
Once again the cave was filled with more howls of congratulations.
"Now for our friends, please step forward. Addison, Zed, Eliza, Bree, Bonzo, Bucky." Willa slowly listed off as they each stepped forward. "And Zoey," Willa smiled as Zoey walked forward holding onto Zed and Addison's hands. "Only because you are the cutest and friendliest little zombie I've ever met. You all helped us save our family, and many of you at the risk of your own lives, or going against your own family, so we want to welcome you as members of the wolf pack. As our friends and as new members of our family."
"Wow, I don't know what to say Willa. Thank you." Addison smiled. "What do we have to do?"
"You don't have to do anything. I Willa, Alpha of the Wolf Pack call upon Lupus and Lupa and my werewolf ancestors to look down on these seven heroes and friends of the pack. They have given their all to help save our pack and now I commend them as true werewolves in their turn."
"Do you promise to uphold the rules of the pack, and defend your pack, even at the cost of your life?"
"I do." Everyone nodded solemnly, even if they were also nervously glancing at each other over what exactly they were agreeing too.
"Then I commend you all as werewolves and full members of our pack. Lupus honors your bravery, courage, and kindness, may it serve you well, until the moonlight fades. Awwooo!" Willa ended her speech with a howl that was joined in by the entire pack.
Everyone shared a few glances before Bonzo started howling too and everyone else also joined in with smiles on their faces.
Then Willa and Wyatt jumped down from the ledge they were standing on, and they both held a carved wooden box in their hands. "Congratulations and thank you for accepting us." Wyatt smiled.
"No, we should be thanking you. But just what exactly did we agree too?" Eliza asked.
"You agreed to always helping us, and defending us, but I don't see us having any battles in the nearby future, you can still live your same lives, but know you all will always have a place here. Also, we have one more thing to give you. That ceremony is usually when a pup receives their moonstone necklace." Willa and Wyatt opened their boxes to reveal a collection of intricately carved necklaces.
"Now, listen carefully, you don't need to take this if you don't want too. These ones have all been empty of their power so they're just pretty rocks right now. But if you want to power them up, you can, but there's no telling what they will do to zombies, and for humans…." Willa trailed off.
"What is it?" Bucky asked.
"There's a chance that it will turn you into a werewolf." Wyatt revealed.
"What?"
"If you're truly one of us, when you put it on you'll be transformed into a werewolf. Part of our pack. Forever." Willa promised. "I understand if you don't want to take that chance, because all of you are perfect just the way you are. But as members of our pack, they are your right."
"But seriously you shouldn't be obligated to take them or power them up or anything. We know you're our friends, and that's all that matters." Wyatt added.
"So have humans become werewolves before?" Addison asked.
Willa explained, "In the past, after the humans attacked and stole the Moonstone, a few werewolves lived with them in secret and even had pups I mean kids with humans, and since those kids never came into contact with the Moonstone, they stayed just like normal humans on the surface, but they still passed on werewolf blood. There have been a few humans that feel the call to the wild and rejoined us and when they do they become full werewolves. So it is entirely possible, if very unlikely that any of you three would actually become a werewolf, but we just want you to know. And again, we have no idea what it would do to a zombie."
"So just so we're clear, right now there is no chance of them changing us?" Bucky asked.
"Yes Bucky, right now they are just necklaces but they don't have any power." Willa agreed.
"OK then, I'm honored but no offense I don't want to mess with success or anything. I will gladly take this but I'm not going to power it up. You werewolves are cool and all, but I know I'm already perfect."
"That's great." Willa said, handing him one of the necklaces. Everyone else chuckled at Bucky's demeanor, seems some things won't ever change.
"Well this sounds interesting, I'll take it." Eliza said. Willa handed a necklace over. "So how do I power it up?"
"Eliza what are you doing?" Zed asked.
"It's science, I'm just going to see what happens, who knows maybe this is the next step in zombie evolution or something."
"That makes even less sense than your Zombies are evolving to not need the Z-bands hypothesis."
"Well, what's it going to do? Make me more of a zombie? That's literally the whole point of the Z-band Zed." Eliza marched over and pressed her necklace against the Moonstone. Then she took a deep breath and put it around her neck. It glowed emerald green for a moment before returning to its natural white shade, but nothing changed Eliza's appearance or demeanor.
"Well, that was anti-climactic." Eliza shrugged her shoulders and walked back to the group.
"You don't feel any different?" Zed asked.
"Do I have the sudden urge to howl at the moon?" Eliza rolled her eyes. "Nope. I'm still just as zombie as always. Do I look green? Greener than usual?"
"So, I guess we don't have to worry about them doing anything to zombies then." Wyatt grinned.
"I want one!" Zoey jumped up next and Willa gave her a necklace that she then ran over and charged up with the Moonstone as well. It flashed emerald before returning to its normal white color as she put it around her neck. "Now I can be like all the werewolves too!"
"I zagrr Luneztone Grazias." Bonzo said, held his hand out and then walked over to charge his up.
"So what exactly are the chances of me actually being a werewolf?" Bree asked nervously.
"Extremely small, but we don't want to trick you into it."
"Well thank you guys, but I'll just take the necklace too." Bree said.
"It's fine, we completely understand Bree." Willa smiled and handed it out.
Now everyone turned to Zed and Addison who had been softly whispering to each other.
"Well, I guess if it really doesn't do anything to us, there's no harm in me taking one and charging it up. If that's ok with you?" Zed asked.
"Yeah of course Zed, it's totally your decision."
"What are you going to do?"
"I want to be part of the pack, but do you really think I could be a werewolf?"
"No way that's ridiculous, you are Addison, no matter who you are you are Addison and that's all that matters to me, but in my opinion, you are way too adorable to be a big bad werewolf. But you don't have to, Bree and Bucky didn't and Willa was totally fine with that."
"Wait a minute, Zed, all the wolves have those streaks of white in their hair, do you think…?" Addison asked, nervously twirling a strand of hair.
"No, you are perfect and you don't need to change, but if that is somehow the reason, then it will be great for you to know. I will always love you, even if you are somehow a werewolf."
"Dang it, now that I thought of that, I have to know. Willa, I'll gladly accept the necklace and who knows maybe I am a werewolf." Addison smiled nervously.
"I will too, but obviously I'm not a wolf, I'm one hundred percent zombie." Zed and Addison both took a necklace and walked over together. Still holding hands they placed the necklaces against the Moonstone to charge them up.
Then they each placed them around their necks and Zed's also shone with a soft emerald glow for a moment. While Addison's glowed blue as it came to rest around her neck. They took a deep breath and as if they were reading each other's minds they each turned back to their friends and playfully spread their hands like claws and opened their mouths in a snarl. Making everyone around them jump for a moment until they realized nothing happened to either of them.
"So, am I a werewolf?" Addison asked, playfully.
"You're beautiful Addie, but the same kind of beautiful you've always been."
"Awe! Thanks Bree."
"She's right you know. You are beautiful just the way you are." Zed told her pulling her close in a hug.
"I know, just I know everyone else is beautiful just the way they are." Addison smiled up at him.
"Alright, let's welcome our new pack members to the Den. AWWWOOOO!" Willa howled.
"AWWWOOO!" Everyone howled to the moon, including the zombies and human guests, and pretty soon Wyatt started leading one of the wolves' favorite songs that they always used for celebrations and welcoming new pack members. The wolves began leading their newest pack members in their dance and everyone was having the most fun they had in ages.
This is how we're living our lives, living our lives, living our lives yeah
Can you feel the call to the wild, call to the wild, the call to the wild
We are the call, we are the call, we are the call to the wild
We are the call, we are the call, we are the call to the wild
We are a real community
Unique, but we have unity
We know who we're supposed to be
Release to the rhythm totally
I feel the wild when you're all close to me
And you can feel it too or hopefully
Now look up and tell me what you really see
A bunch of stray wolves or a family
This is how we're living our lives, living our lives, living our lives yeah
Can you feel the call to the wild, call to the wild, the call to the wild
We are the call, we are the call, we are the call to the wild
We are the call, we are the call, we are the call to the wild
You're in the den, because you've earned our trust
Now show us what you've got if you're one of us.
Near, the edge of the dance floor, Zoey was sitting beside one of the werepups with Puppy sitting between them on their laps, both had the happiest grins on their faces, and both were excited to be making a new friend.
"Oh my moonstone, your puppy is so adorable!"
"Thank you, his name is Puppy, I'm Zoey, what's your name?"
"Hi, I'm Willow." Willow introduced herself.
"I'm so happy to finally meet a werewolf my age!"
"Me too! I always wanted to learn more about Seabrook and humans and zombies, but I never saw one before a few days ago."
"I never saw a werewolf before a few days ago either."
"So, what is everything Puppy can do?"
"He is super smart, he can do all the tricks, and he is super good at following directions. He is the best puppy ever!"
"Cool, can I pet him?"
"Sure! He likes being scratched behind the ears."
"So do I!" Willow giggled. "We have so much in common already!"
"Do you want to come to school with me?"
"I would love to! Willa and Wyatt wouldn't let me go with them when they started going to school."
"Well now that everyone is happy again, you should ask if you can. I'll tell everyone that you are a great friend to have. Oh and we can cheer together!"
"What is cheering?"
"It's like dancing and having fun, but you want to make everyone around you have fun too."
"Like when you howl?"
"Sure, cheering makes me happy, that is why I love it."
"That's why I love howling too."
Everyone paused from their dancing to let everyone let out howls and this time no one laughed at them. "Maybe the moonstones make us speak werewolf." Zed joked in Addison's ear.
"Maybe they do, but I like zombietongue better."
"Why's that?"
"Because I can't say gar gar gaza in werewolf." Addison grinned.
"I'm sure we could ask Wynter and Wayde, they seem pretty committed." Zed glanced over to the two wolves that were dancing the night away with each other.
"Maybe we'll ask them someday, but for now let's keep dancing Handsome."
"Gladly." Zed agreed, "Werewolves sure know how to party, maybe this can be our new powerplant?"
"That would be great, but let's get through Prawn first tomorrow."
"Of course, I can't wait." Zed spun Addison around the party continued.
