I am currently writing this at 7:42am cause i finally have access to internet. I've actually been writing a lot on my phone but i think i'd prefer to write on my laptop lol. It just goes by a lot faster and its easier to type. Thank you all for sticking with me on this journey and I hope y'all have a good day :)
Percy woke up with a groan, rubbing his forehead. He blinked his eyes trying to focus on his surroundings and the first thing he noticed was that he was in his chair instead of his bed. The next thing was the fact he was holding a tortilla. Confused he kept glancing around and immediately let out a heavy sigh, noticing the contents of his tortilla on the floor next to a Baja Blast. He pouted slightly upset that his crunchwrap had been wasted but he decided he would make another run to Taco Bell and get another one.
Awkwardly glancing up he became very hyper aware of the fact that the moon goddess was in his dorm room. Turning to look at his bed he was faced with a very beautiful woman in his bed. He frowned at the position she was in and slowly stood up, the bones in his body cracking in protest. Shaking his head and stretching slightly he walked over to the bed. Percy gently pulled the empty drink from her hand and set it on his nightstand.
Artemis let out a slight groan and turned over, curling up over herself. Percy shook his head and grabbed a blanket from the end of the bed and tossed it on her. Artemis gripped onto the blanket and let out a sigh. Percy decided that was enough sign that she wasn't going to wake up any time soon and went to start picking up.
Percy hummed slightly trying to think about what had happened the night before.
Artemis continued to stare up at the sky, eyeing the moon slightly. They had just made the list on what Artemis should accomplish on her "extended" stay in the mortal life. Artemis didn't like being reminded that it was a punishment. Percy watched the duck's swim in the water and he started to wonder what he would do if he was in Artemis's position.
To start it off, he'd probably bitch and complain that the gods even had the audacity to make him a god. It probably wouldn't look to good because he just might launch himself across the throne room to get Zeus. No doubt it would be Zeus trying to force it on him so that he would have leverage over any enemy deity that decided to test his rule. Surprisingly Drama Queen was finally over the whole "the sea spawn must die" phase. Percy had to be honest, he was starting to think between Nico and him Zeus favored him as the favorite nephew. Which isn't that surprising because Nico really didn't like him.
Next on his list would be the fact that Percy would probably drop to his knees and beg his father to let him back as a demigod. Has there ever been a demigod that didn't want to be a god? He wasn't too sure. He was definitely one of a kind. The thing is, Percy just couldn't imagine watching the world go on without his friends and family. Watching the people he cared about die from old age while he still remained as he once was. No, Dying was a gift in Percy's eyes. It was a release from this stupid thing called life. One day, Percy would like to die and embrace the friends that he lost, the friends he will lose.
Percy glanced back to Artemis and asked her softly, "Lady Artemis?"
The goddess in question turned to look at him, her auburn eyebrows raised in question. "Please, call me Artemis and what is it?"
He smiled sheepishly at the goddess and tilted his head at her, "You interact with demigods and mortals the most. Does it not bother you to know that you shall live forever while they will die and you shall never see your friends again?"
The goddess was silent for awhile, contemplating his words. "Truthfully, Percy, it hurts a lot. Watching my hunters die... Knowing that I will never again get to see them?" A pained look crossed her face, "It hurts. There is nothing more that I want then to get at least five more minutes with the girls I have lived with and loved for centuries. I spent months grieving the first hunter I ever lost. Her name was Cassandra and she had been my first hunter. I was a foolish goddess, young and vain. Those flaws, my own flaws, were Cassandra's downfall. I thought that I was all powerful. Just shy of my first year in life we we're ambushed. At this time my hunt was not know much."
The goddess took a deep breath, appearing to steady herself. "Men pooled out from around us, swords drawing with plans to rape and sell us. They mocked us and laughed wondering why we were traveling alone. Asking who we belonged to and what men owned us. In my anger I had snapped at the head man calling him foolish and asking if he knew who I was. The man didn't take to kindly at that and threw his dagger at me. Immortal as I was, Cassandra stepped in front of the blade and took it for me. I remember the shock on his face not expecting us to defend each other in such a way. I collapsed to the floor with her in my arms. She was smiling at me softly, thanking me for giving her home. She was happy to give her life for me, to see the family she had once lost in Elysium."
Tears streamed down Artemis's face and Percy rubbed her back trying to offer her comfort. He had a grimace on his face, wishing to cause harm to this man he had never met. A man who had probably been dead for a long time. Percy knew that Artemis wouldn't let this go. She would extract her revenge.
"I remember seeing red, drawing my bow and then nothing. When I came too the man was gurgling on his blood begging for forgiveness. Begging my Father and Ares for help. Asking what he had done. I told him that they would not help him because he had already angered the gods. Horror had seemed to gather on his face as he realize that I was a goddess. Then he started to beg for forgiveness, the men of his I hadn't already killed we're just watching in horror as I once again punched him. He started to choke on his blood as he tried to scream for my forgiveness at that point. I refused to grant it. I cursed him and turned him into a deer, the wounds still inflicted his body. I had his own dogs tear him apart. His men had run away at that point, they told many stories and that was the Greek world's first taste of my anger and it wouldn't be the last. My hunters had helped me fall many of the men at this point as well."
Artemis shook her head, still crying silently. Percy could see how much this had affected the goddess and he frowned slightly. To see the goddess hurting so much upset him. Clearing his throat he spoke softly, "Artemis, Cassandra was happy to protect you. There is no greater gift then protecting your family. I, myself, have laid my life on the lines many times to protect my friends."
Percy looked away, trying to find a way to comfort the goddess. "Right before the Battle of Manhattan, I was on the Princess Andromeda. Hades, that ship still gives my creeps thinking about it. Charles Beckendorf and I were tasked with blowing it up in hopes that it would stop the war before it stared. A small hope but anything was something at that point. Beckendorf was a son of Hephaestus so it was his job to rig the ship with greek fire and I would stand point. Quickly we realized our cover was about to be blown so I ran out trying to distract the monsters and give Beckendorf time to escape. We didn't know that Kronos already knew what we planned to do. Beckendorf... After he had been captured as well he let me know he had succeeded. He detonated it and left me with no choice but to jump over the edge. I wish... I wish I had some how grabbed him and jumped into the sea."
A bitter chuckle escaped his throat as he thought over that memory, thinking of all the things he could have done differently. At some point Artemis had turned to look at him so they were looking at each other. "It hurts, Artemis, I will not lie but they did something to protect you. The best you can do is learn to accept their sacrifice and make sure people remember their memory."
Artemis smiled softly at him and nodded her head, "Thank you, Percy. It is nice to know that you understand what it feels like. Unfortunately most gods do not care to think about those sort of feelings. I haven't been able to speak with anyone openly like this since... Zoe."
Both of them winced slightly as they thought about the late huntress. Artemis and Percy decided to sit in silence and let their emotions calm down. When Percy asked that question he hadn't expected such an emotional response from the goddess. Tilting his head he realized that Artemis had actually felt comfortable telling him this. It was shocking he had to admit, that the stone cold goddess would open up to a male.
"Artemis, why did you tell me all of this?"
"You are different."
He snorted slightly at her response and suddenly got a huge grin on his face. "Want to get Taco Bell?"
Artemis matched his grin and nodded. Quickly Percy grabbed her wrist and stood up, taking off in the direction of the food place. At some point it became a race, both of them trying to beat the other even if Artemis didn't know where she was going. It was amusing because Percy would call out directions when she was in the front until the both crashed into the Taco Bell door. They panted heavily, leaning against the glass. The workers inside we're staring at the pair in shock, eyes wide. Percy just grinned brightly and sucked in a deep breath and opened the door.
"After you My Lady."
Artemis rolled her eyes but walked in and glanced at the menu. Percy walked up to her and looked at the menu as well. Percy was not going to let himself be fooled about how much this woman could eat, he didn't know why but he had a gut feeling she could put down a taco party pack and still be hungry. Artemis eyed him curiously as he looked at the menu.
"Yeah sorry about this order so late." Sucking in a deep breath, Percy ordered. "So yeah, We need one taco party pack, four crunchwraps, two chalupa's. If you don't mind making half those tacos with that like Dorito shell that be great. Oh yeah! And we need two large Baja Blasts."
The worker diligently worked to get their order down, Artemis just watched with calculating eyes. After paying an absurd amount of like forty dollars, Percy and Artemis just mumbled to each other as they wait for their order to finish. When it finally came out Percy grinned and they started the 5 minute walk back to the dorms. Percy didn't want Artemis to try anything much to her sorrow. She kept whining and complaining about how she was thirsty but Percy was adamant she didn't try anything until they we're in the dorm.
When they finally made it up to their floor, Apollo and Jason we're sitting there staring at them with raised eyebrows. Percy just grinned sheepishly and Artemis glared.
"Where did you two go? Hmm? We thought you guys got attacked." Apollo chided like a mother hen, popping his hip out and tapping the floor with his foot.
"We went to the park mom, then we got food now the only monster here is going to be me if I don't get in the dorm soon and eat because I am starved and Percy insisted that I wait to eat, so move." With that Artemis barreled through Apollo and walked into Percy's dorm. Amusement lit Percy's eyes as he grinned at Apollo and started to walk to his dorm.
Cackling Apollo called out, "You guys make a cute couple!"
Artemis was quick to respond, "You make a good pin cushion!"
Percy had never seen Apollo run back into a dorm so fast as he did in that moment, pure horror in his eyes. Jason shook his head and grinned at Percy. Percy returned it and walked into the room to see Artemis trying the Baja Blast. The goddess immediately let out a happy sigh.
"I'll give it to you Mortals, you guys can make tasty food." Artemis mumbled, her cheeks dusted with pink.
Percy equally spread the food out between the two and immediately moaned when he bit into the crunchwrap. A similar reaction came from Artemis and the two of them just ate in silence. Artemis on his bed, Percy in his chair.
Percy shook his head as he came out of memory to see that he had picked up all of his dorm, not just the Taco Bell wrappers everywhere. There was still left over food so he had put it in the fridge. He realized fairly quickly that they had an hour until their classes started. He smiled gently thinking about the night before. It might have been emotional but it helped Percy gleam an insight into how the goddess thought. She really was different from the other gods. She seemed to have more emotion and be more accustomed with the mortal way of things.
Shaking her shoulder slightly he woke her up, "Cmon Artemis. It's time to get up we have classes soon."
The goddess groaned but ultimately got up.
Well then! Chapter is now completely, leaves some reviews on what y'all think I should improve on! I'd also love some ideas on what I should incorporate with the story! Thank you for reading!
