Listen, Listen. Firstly I shall apologize to Le Connoisseur for getting their hopes on more steady updates. Secondly I shall say thank you to Lightning Wave for always encouraging me to update even if it's them asking instead of encouraging lmfao. I want to apologize for my absence, it has been a long month. I'm nineteen now though! it's officially been 8 years since i've joined the Percy Jackson fandom and started my lifelong fanfiction addiction. I really would like to start getting updates out steadily, it's something i'm hoping to improve here. I'm working and plotting a fantasy themed book (a recent development) even if i'm terrible with grammar haha. I appreciate y'all for sticking with me and good reading!
It was the next morning and Zeus was feeling quite tired. He has listened to Hera scream at him all night because she caught him trying to kiss a nymphs feet. Really he wasn't trying to bed the woman, it just would have been a plus! He wasn't to sure why Hera had jumped on him like that but his cheek stung and his pride was wounded.
Poseidon was lax on his throne, looking quite pleased if he had to say so himself. Listen, he wasn't TRYING to gloat that he had a happier relationship life with Zeus but he hadn't cheated on Amphitrite since Sally and he wasn't about to start.
Hades? Well... The god of the dead was simply speaking with his eldest sister, Hestia. They often stuck together rather then spoke with the other gods seeing as they had been outcasted from their rightful thrones. Hestia didn't pay it any mind but Hades could be quite temperamental on the situation.
Demeter was doing Demeter things like shoveling a bowl of whole wheat Cheerios down her throat. The Olympians we're trying very hard to block out the sound of slurping on their poor godly hearing but it just seemed to make her louder.
Ares and Aphrodite we're making heart eyes at one another from across the room completely oblivious to the fact Hephaestus was currently building their next trap in front of their faces.
Hermes was speaking with George and Martha about Amazon and its status on shipping. They really weren't liking their numbers being so low so they we're planning to just start taking away the mortals breaks.
Dionysius was slumped over in his throne, an empty coke can in his hands and drool dripping down his face.
Athena was reading a book on the quantum theory, whatever that is, while eating olives. She had long since mastered the art of ignoring her family.
Zeus stood up and slammed his thunderbolt down into the center of the room, "SILENCE. This counsel is now in session."
Different lights flashed across the room as the gods made themselves presentable to see what exactly Zeus had to say to them.
Poseidon had narrowed his eyes remembering last night. Zeus had always been overbearingly protective when it came to Artemis so he was ready to defend his son. The night before he had secured Hades, Hestias, Hermes and Hephaestus vote to protect his son. Zeus would be severely outnumbered if he tried anything.
"I have called this meeting today because I wish to know what my children are up to in the mortal world. You all are here to make sure that everyone is up to date and everyone is aware of their current situation."
Some of the gods groaned, Ares and Aphrodite, before they all nodded their heads in agreement. It's not like they had anything better to do besides watch two Olympians play mortal.
"Iris, show me a one way IM of Apollo, University of San Diego."
The rainbow flickered for a second before an image of the golden haired godling appeared. He was standing with a girl that reached his shoulders. She was by all means plain, to the god's at least, but Apollo looked at her like she knew all about his sports chariot and how well to drive it.
The woman seemed bemused with the God as he walked alongside her speaking rapidly. Her short brown hair was even more restrained by a backwards baseball cap, her green eyes shining brightly. Although her face appeared blank her eyes were lit up with emotion, sparkling in the sun. Ironically, the sun seemed to bathe her in an ethereal light although it was clearly not the work of Apollo because he couldn't access said star anymore.
"C'mon Eren! Just one date! I promise just one and if you don't like it you can dump me in the dirt and tell me to kiss your ass!" Apollo cried out indignantly.
"No! I've heard the stories and rumors about you gods! You say all of these fine lies before leaving me with a child and never seeing them again. I've seen Percy's body, I've seen him break down over his past. I will never bring a child into the world like that. My answer is kiss my ass!" She stated before walking faster to her mortal class.
"By the way! Your Father is the Father of manwhores and infidelity, you can suck it!" Eren called over her shoulder as he finally made it to her class. The tired, overworked students around her laughed at Apollo's dismay but he was not deterred.
Instead a giant smile graced his face as he realized that for the first time in his life he was going to have to work for a girl.
Zeus shouted angry, obscene words at the IM. Fortunately, After he had thrown his lightening bolt Hera saw it fit to take away said bolt so that he didn't blow a mortal up. Apparently this was good thinking because Zeus looked red as a tomato.
"I'll kill you! Smite you down you ungrateful mortal! How dare you insult my name in such a way!"
Before he could speak anymore Poseidon sighed and looked at Hades who nodded. Together they restrained and gagged Zeus who only seemed to shout louder. The counsel chose to ignore him until he calmed down and instead focus on the IM.
Apollo turned around abruptly before slamming right into Percy knocking the air out of his lungs. Percy was hunched over ever so slightly as he tried to regain the air in his lungs.
"Cmon man! We gotta stop meeting like this." Percy whined out, rubbing his sternum.
Artemis stalked past them, effectively flipping them off and elbowing Apollo in the gut. "Tough luck fuckers, I'm gonna beat you guys to the class."
That put Apollo and Percy into hyperdrive as they suddenly shot forward trying very desperately to beat Artemis to math class. It didn't end well because Artemis stepped inside and forcefully shut the door laughing heartily as both Percy and Apollo slammed into it.
"Now, now Miss Olympian. I've heard you were a little violent but I wasn't expecting this violent." Came the reply from a melodic voice, full of authority.
A giant grin spread across Artemis's face as she realized who was speaking. Lupa stood there in all her glory. She was dressed in a white button up shirt, black slacks and a pair of worn leather boots. Her hair was up in a tight bun, the red hair striking compared to her pale skin. The two goddesses stared at each other for a moment longer before the door burst open. Apollo and Percy rushed in and to the back, their faces bright red realizing they had just ate a door. Lupa winked at Artemis before motioning with her head to follow the boys.
The Olympians watched curiously, although some were laughing at the boy's failure, as Lupa started the math session teaching the students how to do calculus. Athena was thoroughly enjoying the lesson but other then that the god's found themselves quite bored so they talked amongst themselves. Zeus had finally calmed down so he was released from the bonds his brothers had put him in. Aphrodite was staring intently at both Artemis and Percy a very predatory grin on her face that did not go unnoticed by the others.
"Aphrodite, why are you staring at them in such a disturbing way?" Hermes called out to the Goddess of Love curiously.
All the gods looked back to see Percy with a very concentrated face staring at his math book while Artemis read him the questions and he did the work. Apollo was copying what he wrote down not caring to try it on his own if the other two were going to do the work for them. Artemis suddenly let out a very loud sigh and placed her hands in her head as Percy blushed head to toe in embarrassment over something he had clearly done wrong. Apollo started laughing so hard he clutched his stomach.
Many of the gods we're silent as they watched this exchange. None of them knew what to say because even though Apollo had always been a light hearted god, he genuinely seemed carefree in that moment. For the first time the gods watched as one of them interacted with a demigod as if they we're on the same level. Even Artemis seemed happy to be there in that moment, of course they never really seen the goddess happy but she seemed to be enjoying herself in the moment. The smile on her face spoke a thousand words. It was almost a comical moment for them, all of the gods once upon a time felt emotions but they had always deemed them trivial. They never figured that had the room for them and yet, here Artemis and Apollo were enjoying themselves. Not having to care about the duties that had always taken up all of their time.
Hestia was the first one to speak, "They seem to be enjoying themselves, no? Should we not leave them to their devices and let them discover themselves. Mortality is a gift and they are experiencing it."
Athena was quick to add on, " The gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal, because any moment may be our last. Everything is more beautiful because we're doomed. You will never be lovelier than you are now. We will never be here again. As Homer once proclaimed."
"It would appear Homer had some sense in his old senile mind then, hmm?" Hades called out, amusement dripping from his tone.
Zeus shook his head and stood up, "Counsel dismissed for the night."
With that the god's quickly flashed out in different lights but Poseidon had a different idea so he reclined back in his fishing chair throne and placed a hat over his face, promptly taking a nap.
*TIME SKIP*
Poseidon woke up with a very ungodly snort and sat up. He blinked rapidly at his surroundings wondering why he was still in the throne room before realizing his goal and quickly standing up. His eyes caught on his elder sister tending the hearth, a warm smile on her face. Poseidon blushed and rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly hoping that Hestia hadn't been there the whole time he was asleep. Judging by his past experiences with the Goddess he had to assume that his assumption was incorrect.
"Not a word, Hestia, please."
The Goddess just gave him an even wider smile and he shook his head, flashing off leaving behind the smell of the sea.
Poseidon landed in a park, the sun just now starting to make its decent downwards. Humming slightly he patted his cargo shorts and started the walk into the park. He kept his senses open hoping to catch a glimpse of any other godly power. After strolling around for 10 minutes he was able to feel a shift in power and realized that he had finally found his destination and make a beeline for the power source. It would have been a wonder that no monsters we're in the area if they we're not still recuperating from the two wars.
Poseidon smiled as he saw his son sitting with a group of people, chatting loudly. He was incredibly happy that Percy finally got the break he had deserved. It had been a long 7 years since Percy discovered the godly world and he was just now finally getting to enjoy his life. Artemis sat at his side, Apollo on hers. In front of them sat Jason Grace and Eren Walker. On either side sat Annabeth Chase and Mark McGuire.
Percy was the first to notice his father and eagerly stood up and embraced the god. Both of them patted each others back and held each other for longer then necessary just happy to be in each others presence. It could be devastating if Zeus knew that Poseidon had gone to visit his son but it was a risk worth taking. Pulling away from the hug Percy gave Poseidon a smile that left a crinkle at the corners of his eyes. Just like Poseidon. The god was so happy to realize how many similarities between them.
Artemis and Apollo had stood up quickly, bowing at Poseidon. Annabeth, Mark, Jason and Eren had followed up quickly trying to not anger the Sea God. Eren was the most nervous having never actually met a god with access to their powers and she really wasn't hoping to offend. She had heard stories that Poseidon wasn't always the most level-headed god and she enjoyed being a human.
"Hello My Son, Niece and Nephew, Friends." Poseidon began, his voice warm as he continued to hold onto Percy's shoulder.
Said demigod did not mind it but before he could respond Artemis spoke up, "Hello Uncle Poseidon, to what do we owe this pleasure?"
Poseidon shook his head slightly, "Please I am not here for formalities just here to inform you of our most recent counsel meetings."
The group nodded their head, curiosity all beaming in their eyes.
"Beware your actions and who you choose to bed with" At this Poseidon looked Apollo in the eyes who just blushed brightly, "And continue to hold on. Zeus does not wish to keep this punishment on for long because he does not want you two suffering. I also do not think he is liking just how mortality is making you guys feel. He believes that you two are starting to lean on emotions again and you will not be the same when you return to your duties."
Artemis seemed to have an angry gleam behind her eyes wondering why her father was so worried when he had placed the punishment on them himself. She was not worried that she was staring to trust her emotions to much because she was still in control of herself the only difference now being was that she could easily understand things and she wasn't so uptight anymore. It was a blessing to her and one she was not willing to give up so soon just for the fact she was learning how to be herself again.
Apollo on the other hand almost seemed excited to know that he would soon be returning to godhood as if he could not wait any longer. Apollo missed his chariot and he missed the perks of just being able to summon anything to his hearts desire. Being a mortal had its perks, sure, but he genuinely did not care to stay mortal for any longer then he had too.
Poseidon cleared his throat, "I must go before Zeus gets suspicious but just know that he has us watching you three every once and awhile. Oh and Percy? Tread carefully with your heart."
And just like that Poseidon was gone, the smell of the sea in the air. Percy had raised both eyebrows up curiously wondering what he had meant but Annabeth glanced between Artemis and him. Annabeth could not be fooled, there was definitely something peculiar about their relationship. Shaking their heads they went back to the conversation they we're having before a god interrupted them. They we're all ready to enjoy their weekend tomorrow.
Whew y'all, thank you for reading this chapter! I apologize if it seems all over the place I kind of needed a filler chapter. I have a plan on how I want the romance to bud and play out but I also don't want it to be too short. Although at the end of the day I don't think the story will ever breach 55K words. Maybe, Maybe not. Hopefully it does so it's a genuine read and doesn't get done within an hour. Unless ur like, the god of reading or some shit. Anyways! Next chapter we're having some sibling bonding between Apollo and Artemis! Hopefully a longer chapter. (Cmon levi you can do it!) Have a good rest of your day y'all and until next time :)
