What's up, guys? Sorry for the long wait as I promised to continue, but I was a little busy to keep my house clean from the mess. Now that I'm here, the next chapter where Anne introduce her favorite TV show to the Plantars, but things can go wrong when her phone dies when someone did. I'm going to give credits to two of my friends as long as I ask permissions. Thank you for your patience and enjoy reading.
Amphibia: Living In A Frog World
Taking Charges
During that day at the Plantar Farm, everyone in the house are relaxing after cleaning up the messes since their last encounter that evolved and tried to the frogs. Right now, Marcy is writing down her journal at the table, sitting next to Sasha who is playing her with her game app from her phone.
Cronaxx went into the kitchen for a cup of water while Tint takes off his neckerchief and practices basic handkerchief tricks. KJ is sitting next to Darrel that sat upside down feeling bored out of his mind until Hop Pop sat next to him.
"You know, that's not how we sit in this house" said Hop Pop, just as Darrel sits back up after he breaks out of boredom.
"I'm sorry, Hop Pop. It's just that there's nothing for me to do in my spare time." replied Darrel.
"Well there's plenty of things to do around here, Darrel. But, what do you usually do in your spare time?" Hop Pop asked.
"Yeah, your friends told us what do they usually do." said Sprig when he, Tint, and Polly sat next to him. Marcy and Sasha perks up as they listen from the kitchen when Darrel speaks.
"Back home, when I finish my homework, I play things called video games and watch movies. Whenever I have a creative thought, I use them to make my videos and publish them." Darrel answered.
"Wow, guess life where you're from is much more simpler" Sprig commented.
"It's not Sprig, it's just as difficult as it is in this world." replied Darrel.
"Not only that, KJ and I were planning to make a webcomic and publish them. It's like comic book, but on the computer." said Marcy.
"I start the music band with the five of us. We've usually practice for the concert at school." Sasha added, but looking bored.
"I played video games too. Sometimes, I went over to Anne or Marcy's house whenever I get bored." KJ added, as well.
"It may not be the same, but I know what I do when I'm bored." Hop Pop gets up from his seat when he walks over to his study room, jut to pick up the book and then come straight back to them. "Whenever I finish a hard day's work, I spend my spare time reading fictional novels."
"Here's another lesson, Darrel: Vision is the art of seeing things invisible." said Cronaxx, giving him another lesson.
But Darrel looked at his mentor, raising his brow with curiosity. Then Hop Pop gives him a book about an adventure novel.
"Just give this a few pages, and maybe you'll understand your new lesson." said Hop Pop.
"Thanks, Hop Pop." Darrel thanked him.
"Of course." replied Hop Pop.
"Hey, um… is it okay that I can read with you?" Marcy asked after setting her journal down.
"Sure." Darrel answered, much to her delight as she sat next to them.
While they are reading together, Darrel was getting attached to it and has gotten into the book. At the same time, Sprig was playing with Polly while Sasha was still playing with her phone with KJ sitting next to her.
Meanwhile, Frank was outside fishing on the back patio with his newly constructed fishing rod. Sending the thin wire out as far as he could, but patiently for a fish to come around. This was something he used to do with a spear, but for the past few days, he's managed to make a makeshift rod. As he leaned back on a sack of potatoes with his legs crossed, Frank started to close his eyes for a rest.
"AAAAAAAAHHHHH!"
Frank jolted upright when he heard Anne's screaming from down in the basement. Discarding his fishing rod, ran back into the house and rushed into the living, where most of his friends used to hanging out until all of sudden.
"Anne? Are you okay?" Frank ran to the door to the basement and was able to open it when Anne suddenly threw it open. Hitting him in the face and sending him onto the ground.
"Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys! Look!" said Anne, looking all too excited, and showed them her phone.
Their Amphibian friends were looking at her phone with confusion while Frank held his nose for a moment before seeing what was on her screen.
"What are we looking at here?" Polly asked.
Darrel, Sasha, Marcy, and KJ shared their glance at the phone, but they suddenly zips in front of her screen.
"NO WAY!" Darrel cried.
"What is it, Darrel?" Tint asked.
"Wait, is that…." Frank let go of his nose to point at the screen.
"Oh, no." Sasha deadpanned.
"Suspicion Island! It's like our favorite show back home and we used to watch it all the time." Anne explained when showing the title of the show on her phone, before climbing out of the basement and closing the door. "I've got the new season and didn't even know it. It must have auto-downloaded before we got here."
"Cool!" KJ smiles.
"Awesome!" Frank cheered, throwing his fists in the air.
"It must've auto downloaded when I got here." Darrel was hyped too.
"The new season?!" Marcy and Sasha exclaimed with unison.
"Who's this Otto?" Sprig asked, looking confused with a hand under his chin.
"And how did you download him?" Polly asked when cutting in by pushing his goggles over his eyes.
"My grandma watches this show. It's basically about a bunch of beautiful people doing dumb things while stuff explodes." said Frank, smiling.
"It's literally perfect. Just watch." Anne play and facing the screen towards the others as the video started.
"Previously on Suspicion Island." said The narrator, before showing a scene where the beautiful, yet dumb characters are walking through the jungle.
"I've got a lot of feelings about this place." said Randy
"Welcome to our life." Frank joked, which made Anne snickered.
"Look! More Annes!" said Sprig, pointing at the humans.
"Haha! They have noses." Polly laughs.
"Are you kidding me?" Sasha looked deadpanned that she really disliked it.
"I feel like everyone on this island is suspicious, Peruvia, except you!" said Randy, to Peruiva as he placed a hand on her cheek.
"But, Randy, I think you're suspicious!" Peruvia said, slapping his hand away.
"No!" Randy screamed with tears in his eyes, before the scene suddenly exploded.
"Suspicion Island. If you don't stay suspicious, you won't stay alive."
After the preview, the kids were fascinated while Cronaxx was slightly amused, but for Hop Pop who is not liking what he saw.
"What is this demonic nonsense?" Hop Pop asked.
"It's like a stupider version of Lost, but it makes sense It's actually pretty good with a big mystery element and a lot of humor that goes over kids' heads." Frank explain, leaning on the arm of the couch.
"It's an amazing show. Sasha used to host these back home, and she usually gives me the best seat. However, she sits with Anne and Marcy behind me and the others. I thought it was a personal space issue, but I always thought it would be special to share these moments with those close to you." said Darrel.
"Oh, right. I forgot about that." Sasha chuckled nervously as Marcy looked suspicious while Anne felt guilty about this, until she came up with an idea.
"Well, why don't we make one of these moments? As we watch the first episode together!" Anne suggested.
"Really?! What do the rest of you guys think?" Darrel asked, when looking excited.
"I'm in." Frank answered.
"Awesome!" KJ added.
"Let's do it!" Marcy jumps in.
"Heck yeah!" Sprig, Polly, and Tint cheered together, especially when they heard about the humor.
"I guess it couldn't hurt to view this suspicious island." Cronaxx shrugged
"Now, hold on. Instead of that garbage, how 'bout I treat you to some real entertainment?"
"Like what?" Anne asked.
"Oh, no." Sprig and Polly groaned.
"Yes." Sasha whispered cheerfully when Hop Pop reaching into his coach and pulled out a scroll.
"A scene from The Shallow Pond." He said, before clearing throat. "(ahem) Opening the scroll, he started to read the poem. "'Sadness. The world is sadness. But look. There. A pond! Is it deep or shallow?'"
At the end of the scene, the room remained silent for a moment.
"All in favor of Suspicion Island, say aye." said Frank.
"Aye! Aye! Aye!" All kids chanted together except for Sasha who looked annoyed.
"Okay! Fine!" Hop Pop gave in after outmatched by a reasonable vote.
"Woo-hoo!" Anne cheered.
"Yes!" Sprig added
"Yeah!" Polly added as well.
"Yay." Sasha deadpanned.
"But just one!" Hop Pop gave them just for one only.
Anne set up her phone in front of the couch, then she looks to Darrel, remembering what he said offered a spot next to her.
"Are you sure?" Darrel asked.
"We're creating a special moment where we get to watch the first episode of the new season together. Get in here." replied Anne.
Darrel smiles as he sits next to her before she pushes play on her phone. Sasha rolled her eyes, knowing that this is gonna be a long day to watch. However, she didn't even told them why she hate it that much.
Later that evening, the group watched half of the new season of Suspicion Island. The kids had their eyes glued to the screen, while Sasha and Hop Pop begrudgingly watched with them. Looking unamused as the story got more and more ridiculous. Cronaxx was okay as long as he's fine with it.
"It can't be, Vivica. These pterodactyls are clones of... my dead brother!" Chad yells with clones of Pterodactyls.
They all gasps except for Sasha and Hop Pop who rolled their eyes and grumbles.
"NO WAY!" Anne yelled.
"THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE?!" KJ exclaimed.
"NOOOOO!" Chad yells.
"Oh, yeah. You can see the resemblance,." Frank quipped, getting him a shush from Anne. "What? It's so easy to roast this show. It's why grandma watches it."
"Will these beautiful teens ever make it off the island? Find out next time on-"
Anne tapped on the screen to pause.
"And that's enough for tonight." said Anne.
"Aw, come on!" Sprig whines.
"This is torture!" Polly groans.
" Are you sure?" Tint asked.
"Don't worry Tint, we'll pick up where we left off another time" replied Darrel.
"Trust me, guys. You gotta pace yourself with this stuff." Anne assured to them as they all felt relieved.
"Alright everyone, off to bed." Hop Pop ushered.
"(yawns) Boy, I'm bushed. Goodnight, fellas." Marcy yawned when she went down to the basement along with Sasha.
"Goodnight." They all replied.
KJ, Tint, and Cronaxx had exit out through the door and head over to the stable while Sprig and Polly complained about wanting to know what happened next after rolling off the couch and onto the ground before getting up.
"How am I supposed to sleep without knowing what happened to Vivica and Chad?" Sprig asked, as he and Polly went towards the stairs.
"Stupid sleep! I wanna watch it right now!" Polly complained, following her brother up the stairs to their room.
That only leaves for Anne, Darrel, Frank, and Hop Pop that are sitting in the living room.
"So? What do you think, Hop Pop? Better than that boring stuff you read to us, right?" Anne asked.
"That 'boring stuff' is called literature, Anne." Hop Pop scoffed when walking towards his room. Before he closed the door, he turned back to the kids. "And maybe, if you had an ounce of culture, you wouldn't reject it in favor of your substandard, puerile garbage show!"
He slams the door, making them all startled. That only leaves for the three of them.
"Sheesh. Tell me how you really feel." Anne commented, but seems a bit upset.
"Don't take it so hard Anne." said Darrel, comforting her.
"Everybody's a critic. I know." Anne brushed off.
"It's okay, Anne. I had fun. Thanks for hosting the show." said Frank with a smile.
"Yeah, thanks for hosting Suspicion Island, Anne. I had a fun time." Darrel agrees.
"Thanks, Frank, Darrel. I had a lot of fun too and we're going to have even more fun tomorrow." replied Anne simultaneously yawn and prepare to get some sleep. "Goodnight, guys."
"Goodnight." They both replied with unison.
Both Darrel and Frank went back to the stable while Anne walked down into the basement, leaving the phone alone where she set it up.
During the midnight rolled around, Frank's body was twitching around. His face covered in sweat as his face twitched and winched. His breathing was heavy, and his fingers clenched the bed sheets tightly. All signs that he was having a nightmare. It wasn't one where he was chased by monsters or seeing something terrible happening.
It's the bad memories that he remembered when the sirens and flashing red and blue lights, being dragged away, the freezing jail cell he was put in for the night, and the argument with his parents. The tears of frustration, pain, and fear.
"N-No, please!" Frank gasped in fear, jolting upright.
" What happened?" Darrel shot up, startled by him, then saw Frank staring ahead with wide eyes, panting and sweating with tears in his eyes. Looking like he had just started crying. "Frank? What's wrong?"
"Huh?" Frank turned to him, snapping out of it. Darrel was the only one who takes notice while KJ, Tint, and Cronaxx were still sleeping. He quickly whipped his eyes of the tears. "Uh, yeah. I-I just had a bad dream."
"Oh, that's it? I thought you were being attacked. What was it about?" Darrel asked, while still concerned for him.
"I-I don't want to talk about it." Frank refused to answer.
"Oh, well, goodnight." Darrel looked a little sad that he wasn't telling him what was wrong, then laying back down, and going back to sleep.
Leaving Frank awake to contemplate his nightmare. He sighed and covered his face with his hand. He hasn't thought about it for a while now. Having been mostly focused on staying alive in this froggy world.
In the basement where all three girls were all sleeping, but then when Sasha open her eyes and heard something coming from upstairs. Grabbing her dagger, then walked up the stairs, and opened the door slightly.
Scanning the living room, but found nothing out of the ordinary. Thinking she just imagined things, then Sasha closed the basement door and went back to bed. Nobody knew what's crept inside of the house.
The next morning, Darrel wakes up feeling recharged from last night, then he sees Frank and KJ already got up and went over the house while Tint and Cronaxx getting ready to hike out of the farm.
"Good morning, Darrel. We're going to explore the misty peaks today." said Tint.
"What are we going to find there?" Darrel asked.
"Elemental strength for the Eternal Staff. There's word that a creature living in those lands harnesses the power of lightning." Cronaxx answered and explain the details about the staff.
"If we could get close enough to this creature, the Staff can call upon this element." said Tint.
"Let's get some breakfast and be on our way." Darrel suggested as the three of them went over to the Plantars House.
At the same time, Frank yawned as he walked over to join Anne on the couch and thankfully that he didn't have any more nightmares that night. Anne is bringing over a bowl of popcorn, then sat next to Frank before calling for her friends.
"Come on, guys! It's time to get suspicious!" Anne hollered.
"Just like you're suspicious of making popcorn without butter." Frank joked, dropping a cube of butter onto their popcorn as the two of them laughed and fist-bumped, before Anne tapped on her phone screen.
But then the screen turned on, and she got a low battery notification.
"Wait, what?!" Anne shouted in total shock, bringing everyone else to the living room.
"What's wrong, Anne?" Sprig asked.
"What's all the ruckus?" Hop Pop enters the room.
"Why you screaming?" Polly jumps in.
"Is everything, okay?" Marcy pops up from the basement with Sasha.
"My battery is low. But it was fine last night when I turned it off." said Anne, picking up her phone. Confused as to how it got like this.
"I'm surprised it kept its charge for so long." said Frank with eyes wide open.
But when she opened her phone again, she was puzzled to see that every episode of the show's new season was already watched.
"Huh? 'Watched'?" Anne puzzled.
Sasha's eyes went wide as she realized what that meant.
"Wait a minute. That must have been what I heard last night." said Sasha turning her head to Anne. "Someone was watching the show while we were all asleep."
"Who watched all these episodes and used up all the-" Before she finished her sentence, the phone started beeping. The battery had run out, and it was shutting down. Anne desperately tapped on the screen to keep it on. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!"
But it was too late, and the battery lost the last of its power. Anne's phone was shut down. The last connection she had to earth. Without her charger or the plug in on the wall, everything she loved was all gone.
"It's gone." Anne whispered, lowered the phone onto her lap.
"What's gone?" Sprig asked.
"Pretty much everything on her phone, Sprig." replied Darrel.
"He's right, that phone had everything Anne had to remember of earth." Frank explain before placing a hand on Anne's shoulder.
"Everything! My pictures, my texts! Videos of my cat! Now all my memories from home are gone!" Anne exclaimed before she began hyperventilating. Bringing her legs up to her chest and buried her face in her face.
"Oh, dude." Sasha went remorse for her.
"Poor Anne." said Marcy, felt bad for Anne.
It made Frank upset to see her this upset and rubbed Anne's back.
"It's going to be okay…." said KJ, went to comfort her too after seeing her like this.
Darrel was upset seeing her friend like this. Looking back at Tint and Cronaxx, then he realized something. Before he can say anything, Sprig went to comfort her just as he speaks.
"Um, there, there?"
"NO! Was it you?!" Anne yelled, pointing an accusing finger at Sasha.
"Huh?" She blinked
"Did you, or did you not, watch all those episodes and drain the battery on my phone?" Anne demanded to know with narrowing eyes, giving her a suspicious look.
"Anne, what are you talking about? I didn't watch those episodes." Sasha frowned
"Oh yeah? You said you heard someone upstairs last night and went to investigate it. You would have only heard someone if you were awake!"
"Hey! Don't blame me! Maybe Frank just went to hog the phone to himself rather than using his!" Sasha accused Frank in the process
"I had a nightmare, Sasha! You know that!" Frank yelled at her, standing up to glare at her.
"Guys, stop fighting!" Sprig quickly getting between the two fighting friends.
"Why, Sprig?! Did you do it!?" Anne yelled, pointing at him, now accusing him.
"Anne, stop!" Darrel shouted.
"What? No! I didn't watch anything. It must have been Polly!" Sprig exclaimed, pointing to his polliwog sister.
"What?!" Polly shouted angrily.
"Um, guys? Can we not fight each other?" Marcy felt uncomfortable when seeing her friends fight.
"I even heard her get up in the night." said Sprig, standing on the armrest and then leaned to the humans. "Very suspicious."
"Oh, my God." Frank groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. He knew full well where this was going.
"I needed to pee! Plus, if you heard me, you were awake too, like Frank. YOU TWO ARE THE SUSPICIOUS ONES!" Polly pointed at her brother and the human male.
"Don't change the subject." Sprig retorts angrily when glaring at his sister as he leaned close to her face.
"Will you guys stop fighting!" KJ covered his ears, feeling that it's getting out of nowhere.
"Wait, wait, wait, wait. What about...one of them?!" Polly points her flipper at Darrel, Tint, and Cronaxx as the two of them gasps, but the eldest salamander was unamused.
"I would never poke around my friends' stuff." said Darrel.
"We were in your snail's stable the whole night." Tint added.
"You know, Hop Pop could have done it as well." Cronaxx went skeptical at Hop Pop.
"Heh! Me? In case you forgot, I despise that garbage!" Hop Pop was unamused.
"Usually it's the one we least expect to use her phone." Cronaxx squinted his eyes.
"Exactly! Maybe you ran down the phone so we'd have to listen to your boring play!" Polly exclaimed.
"Oh, that's good," Sprig nodded.
"Stuff like that does actually happen. It could be you, Hop pop." said Darrel.
"That is preposterous!" Hop Pop denied.
"(groans) "Enough! If none of you are going to admit to it, the least you could do is help me fix my phone!" said Anne, having had enough of this argument after standing up.
"Fair enough, Anne. How do we bring this thing back to life?" Hop Pop asked, still holding his spatula and pan. "Magic? Live sacrifice? I know a guy in town-"
"What? No! We just have to charge it." Frank cuts off Hop Pop's sentence before frowning at Anne. "Which is pretty much impossible without electricity."
"Huh?" The frog family looked at him with confused looks.
"You know. Thunder? Lightning? Zap zap?" Anne asked.
"'Zap zap'?" Hop Pop repeated, scratching his head with the spatula.
"We need to find a creature" said Darrel as they all looked at him.
"What creature?" KJ puzzled.
"How is a creature going to fix my phone?" Anne asked.
"Because this creature zaps lightning." Darrel replied.
It sounded familiar to Hop Pop until he suddenly thought of something.
"Oh, I think I know what you're talking about. Quickly! To my study!" said Hop Pop.
They have gathered in Hop Pop's study as he placed a book down on his desk. He opened it to a page with a mountain picture on it.
"I've heard talk of a creature called the zapapede that lives deep in the Misty Peaks. It zaps its prey with a small spark of lightnin'. Yeah, it's pretty cool, actually." said Hop Pop, tracing his finger up a trail to a picture of a centipede-like creature.
"We just need to get close to one of those things with my staff. If we can get it to zapped it, then the staff will harness the power of lightning. It'll be like carrying an ultimate battery." said Darrel.
"Sounds like it's worth a shot. So, how far away is this bug, HP?" Anne asked.
"Don't call me HP. (ahem) It's half a day's travel, but that should be no trouble for this gang." Hop Pop pointed at his grandkids and the human friends, but Sprig swatted his hand away.
"Oh, yeah? Well, that's just what Chad Vanderblad said. Right before he was stabbed in the back by a backstabber, ON SUSPICION ISLAND!" Sprig yelled, repeatedly pointing finger guns at Hop Pop.
"Watch where you're pointin' that finger!" Hop Pop told him, swatting them away, but Polly jumped off Sprig's head and landed between the two of them.
"I would never stab Chad in the back, but one of you two would." said Polly, pointing her flipper at him.
"Hey! Every time you point, two fingers point back!" Sprig argues.
"No one is stabbing Chad in the back!" Frank shouted out of frustration before pointed a finger at them. "Now stop arguing with each other! Because as far as I'm concerned, you're all suspicious. Just look at you."
The way they were shifting their eyes back and forth from side to side, just to prove his point.
"What a minute! Every time you point, two fingers point back! Meaning you're still suspicious, Frank!" Sprig accused him.
"All of you, stop it! Now, come on. Let's get going. The sooner we move, the sooner I get my memories back." Anne is glaring at them before she turned and walked out of the study, leaving the other human kids feeling worried and then followed her as well.
"Guys, we're not going to get Anne's phone fixed if we keep arguing! Keep your thoughts to yourselves." said Tint.
"Tint is right. We need to get moving while it's still daytime." Cronaxx agrees as he and the other amphibians to followed them.
When her friends approached to Anne, she turns and sees them with their concerns look.
"You okay, Anne?" Frank asked.
"(sighs) Yes, Frank." Anne sighed, looking down to the ground.
"We are so sorry about your phone." Marcy apologized.
"Marbles, right. We're all worried about you." said KJ.
"Hey, it's gonna be okay." Darrel soothed her.
"Are you sure?" Anne asked.
"I promise we're going to get your phone fixed." replied Darrel.
"I…know it may seem silly, but my phone has everything to remind me of home." said Anne, pulling it out and looking at the black screen.
"Don't worry, Anne. We'll figured out a way to fix this." Frank assured to her.
"Are you sure you didn't use my phone?" Anne looked skeptically at him.
"No. Besides, I lost my battery charge a few days ago." Frank pulled out his phone and holding it up to her.
"Why didn't you say anything?" Anne asked while Frank put away his phone.
"I figured it was only a matter of time before our phones lost power together. Though, I have to admit, it's been a while since I've seen pictures of my grandma, Roger…." He hesitated for a moment. "...mom and dad. So, I know what you're going through right now. Feeling like you're losing your memories of home."
"You two are not the only ones. I missed my home too, taking pictures, recording videos. Besides, my phone was about to die before I went to bed." Sasha pulls her phone out to see the percentage.
"And mine too. I didn't even have my phone charger" said KJ after pulling out his phone.
"I did brought my phone charger, but I don't think they have the plug in on the wall here in Amphibia." Marcy pulled out her phone with the cord.
"You didn't use my phone, did you?" Anne squinted at Darrel, but he shook his head and pulled something out of his pocket. It was his own phone.
"I lost all my battery when I didn't charge it before school. I tried calling for help, but it was useless, and it just turned off. I was upset because all my work, my pictures with you guys and my family are gone. There was no way I was going to use your phone, because I didn't want you to feel how I felt when I lost my memories." said Darrel as he explain everything to her.
Anne expressed a guilty look on her face. She felt sympathy towards her friends that their phones are losing the battery.
"Hey, I'm sorry for accusing you, Frank. Sasha." Anne apologized.
"Nah, don't worry about it." Sasha brushed off.
"It's alright." replied Frank.
"And I'm sorry I almost accused you of using my phone, Darrel."
"It's okay Anne, because we're going to fix it." replied Darrel with a small smile.
But Frank looked over his shoulder at the Plantars, who were still giving each other the 'I'm watching you' gesture.
"I'm more worried about them." said Frank.
"I'm sure it'll be fine," Anne said, brushing off his worries.
Then they heard Sprig tripping over and looked back. Seeing his face down on the ground because he wasn't looking at where he was going.
"Sure it will." Frank retorted.
Within an hour and a half later, they made it to the mountain's base and began the long trek up the trail. As they walked on the rough walk away, Sprig started playing on his fiddle and sang.
(Suspicious Isling - Sprig Plantar)
My family distrusts each other,
On a dangerous mission,
Like the nearly-naked humans
on the island of Suspicion,
Peruvia, Felicia, and Randy - So hot!
Beguiling, hostiling,
We're all suspicious isling!
Sprig stopped when he bumped into Frank's leg. The group had stopped in their tracks as Hop Pop held up his hand.
"Quiet, boy. Look! There's one now! A zapapede!" said Hop Pop, pointing to the zapapede.
It was golden yellow, with a pale yellow underbelly. It had two green eyes, one slightly darker than the other. The lighter-green eye had a positive sign, and the darker eye had a negative symbol. It had many pairs of short brown legs, much like a caterpillar. It had brown horns with electricity zapping between them, with darker to lighter ascending layers and yellow, sharp mandibles at the front of their heads.
"Whoa!" KJ looked amazed.
"Oh, looks pretty cute." said Anne.
"You got that right." Frank agreed, but then he looked down as the clouds started to clear up, and saw that the zapapede was up on a high rock point separated far from the mountain. The only way to get to it was an old bridge that looked ready to collapse.
"This bridge looks too rickety." Tint noticed to the old bridge.
"It can't hold all of us." said Cronaxx.
"Me and the Salamanders will go first. The rest of you can follow us after." Darrel suggested as he and the Salamanders reach to the other side of the bridge carefully, trying not to wake up their sleeping bug.
He nodded to Sasha when she let KJ walks up in front of her, then followed by Marcy and Sasha until they made it, Anne, Frank, and the Plantars go last.
"Oh god, we're actually doing this." Frank mumbled, starting to become a little scared. Taking a deep breath before he stepped onto the bridge with one foot, then stepped completely on the bridge, stretching his arms out to balance himself. Walking out a bit onto the bridge, he turned back to the other. "Okay, it's good. But step lightly, guy. I don't think this thing can take much weight."
Sprig nodded and started carefully walking on the bridge. Then Hop Pop, Anne, and Polly. The five started making their way across the bridge where the others are waiting for them. As he followed behind Frank, Sprig yawned. Something that made Hop Pop stop and looked at him with suspicion. Walking up to him, Anne placed her hand on Hop Pop's shoulder.
"Huh. 'Sup, HP?" Anne asked.
"Sprig sure looks tired, doesn't he? Awfully suspicious." replied Hop Pop when squinting eyes. "And don't call me HP?"
"The old man's a lying snake, but he does have a point" Polly commented, looking from behind Anne's one shoe.
"You guys talkin' scum?!" Sprig yelled, pointing accusingly at them after stopped walking.
"Guys, what did I tell you about accusing each other?!" Frank said, turning around to glare at them. "We're almost there."
Sprig squinted his eyes at the others, before turning back to Frank. He waved for him to come over. Frank groaned exasperatedly and walked over to him, then Sprig signaled for him to come down to him.
"Sprig, we're on a bridge together. They're gonna hear you." Frank whispered.
"I just need to talk to you." said Sprig
"What?" Frank groaned in annoyance and crouched down to Sprig's level as the pink frog looked back at the others before turning back to him.
"I don't believe that you watched all those episodes. But I want to find out who's guilty just as much as you do. Let me help you." Sprig place his hand on his shoulder.
"Sprig, I just want this mission to be over with." Frank was anxious before standing up and starting walking again.
"But let's help each other out. Everyone thinks that I did it. Do you know what that's like? To be accused of a crime you didn't commit?"
Frank suddenly stopped, and Sprig bumped into his leg. Everyone had heard their conversation and were watching, but now their attention was on the boy. Frank stood still, facing the other end of the bridge where Darrel and the others were all stunned.
The human kids are aware about his past, but the amphibians didn't. The wind rushed through his exposed hair. He clenched his fists tightly as he looked over his shoulder at Sprig, when glaring at him. He does not like to talk about what happened from the past.
"Yes, Sprig. I do." Frank turned around and started marching towards the other side of the bridge.
"Well, then let's help each other!" Sprig insisted, Polly suddenly jumped in front of Hop Pop and Anne.
"Oh, no, you don't! You were trying to Chad him into trusting you!" She exclaimed.
"And you're trying to Vivica Anne into not trusting me!" Sprig argues, walking towards his sister, pointing at her.
"Oh, and look at Hop Pop trying to Randy his way out of this!" Polly turning herself to her grandfather.
"I don't even know what that means!" Hop Pop yelled, throwing his hands into the air.
"(groans) Will you please stop fighting! It's getting on my nerve" KJ groaned.
"I knew this is a bad idea to watch this television series." said Marcy, feeling cringed.
"I don't know why I agreed to this when I'm hosting." Sasha looks a bit annoyed.
"What do you mean?" Darrel asked.
"Uh, Darrel. We got company." Tint pointed to his finger.
As Darrel turned back around, he looked up at the Zapapede with the insect looked back at him as he drew closer. The Zapapede zapped lightning more quickly, preparing to attack its trespasser. Darrel took his staff and prepared to point it at its antennas.
"Guys, cut it out!" Anne cried, walking over to them in the middle of the bridge. "You're gonna-"
But before Darrel could do it, but then he heard a loud snap. He and the others turn their heads at the bridge that broke apart, as Anne, Frank, and the Plantars were plunged down into the mist.
"ANNE! FRANK!" Darrel, Sasha, Marcy, and KJ cried with unisons.
When Frank opened his eyes, he groaned in pain. As did the others. Luckily for him and Anne, they landed on a bush. Hop Pop, Sprig, and Polly, on the other hand, weren't so lucky. Having landed on the hard rock floor of a ledge. Then they heard Tint hollering.
"Are you guys okay?!" Tint shouted.
"Rope bridge? More like 'nope bridge.'"
"Why did we ever think showing that show was a good idea?" Frank complained, sitting up and rubbing his head.
"Just hang on! We'll climb down to you!" said Darrel as he let both Tint and Cronaxx to climb on his back and then he climbed down the chasm carefully.
Sasha, Marcy, and KJ went to followed them by climbing down the chasm, very carefully without slip and fall. Once they reached the bottom, the Salamanders got off when Darrel rushed to Anne and Frank.
"Are you two okay?" Darrel asked.
"Yeah, I think so. Good thing we landed on this bush." replied Anne.
"Other than a few cuts and bruises, you'll be okay." Darrel felt relief that they're both okay, despite that both of them are sharing a far number of cuts and bruises from the fall.
"But you didn't get to the Zapapede." said Anne.
"Anne, the Zapapede is the least of my worries. You are more important to me than getting more power for my staff." replied Darrel, making her smile.
"Thanks, Darrel." Anne thanked him, little did they noticed when Frank looks a bit sad for a moment.
Hop Pop was lying near the edge of the cliff, groaning in pain when he looked down and then react fast.
"(gasps) "Look! Down there! More zapapedes!" Hop Pop cried.
They walked towards the edge and looked down below. Down in a gorge were what had to be thousands of zapapedes zapping away at one another, in a frenzy from the bridge collapsing on top of them.
"Oh, man." KJ mumbled.
"They're pretty far down." Hop Pop commented.
"And angry. How are we going to reach them?" Tint asked.
Looking around for any way to get to the zapapedes, but Frank suddenly got an idea.
"We'll just link arms and lower someone down!" said Frank, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his phone.
"Just like the teens did in episode eight!" Anne smiles, pulling out her phone too.
"Great, idea Frank!" KJ liked the idea, after pulling his phone out and so does the others.
"Let's just charged our phones and get out of here." said Sasha.
"Ha! So that Polly can drop us to cover her tracks, just like Vivica did in the very same episode?!" Sprig cried, glaring at his sister.
"You callin' me a Vivica?!" yelled an angry Polly.
"Maybe…" Sprig shrugged, but suddenly Polly jumped on Sprig as the siblings started to fight.
"Kids, no! Stop fightin'!" Hop Pop yelled, but there was no stopping them.
Polly gave Sprig an Indian burn, and Sprig gave her a wet willy. Seeing that things have indeed gotten out of hand, Anne and her friends walked over to them.
"Sprig! Polly! Stop fighting!" Marcy tries to call out the fight, but no use.
"Hey, cut it out, you guys. Seriously!" Anne yelled, but Sprig accidentally kicked her in the face.
"Oh, sorry, Anne. You okay?" Sprig apologize.
"Anne?" Frank asked, worried by how quiet she'd gotten.
Darrel gasped, which got Tint's attention.
"Don't get angry at them Darrel. It was just an accident." said Cronaxx.
"It's not Anne I'm worried about here." Darrel shook his head.
"It's not?" Tint asked.
"Last time someone did that back home, Anne attacked them."
As the other teens recalls when Anne got into fight with a bully back at school. Frank remembers when she used to get into fight before she got herself into trouble. Anne pushed foot out of her face and rolled up her sleeve. She then let out a battle cry and attacked Sprig and Polly.
"Anne, NO!" Sasha yells when rushing up to her
"OH, GOD!" Frank cried in a panic and quickly dove into the furball to try and get them all split apart.
"Kids, no! Stop fighting!" Hop Pop said, watching in agony as his family tore itself apart.
Frank and Sasha was trying to pull back Anne, while she and Polly were attacking Sprig at the same time. Darrel, KJ, and Marcy were just standing and looked helpless.
"Guys! Quit it!" Frank yelled, before feeling someone biting into his foot. He tried to shake him off. "OW! Sprig? Let go!"
Not wanting anyone to get in more trouble, Darrel and Tint come over to break up the fight.
"GUYS! STOP FIGHTING!" Darrel shouted.
"BREAK IT UP, YOU TWO!" Tint yells.
The more they fought, things could get worse. Marcy started to grow worried that her friends are fighting. She couldn't stand like this. Hop Pop started sweating and looked around for a solution, but there was none. Seeing no other options, he finally caved in.
"IT WAS MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
The kids stopped fighting as the old frog's voice echoed across the gorge as they turn their heads at him. The rest of them stared at him with wide eyes. Shocked by what they just heard.
"I knew it." Cronaxx smiles as he predicted.
"You!?" Frank exclaimed, letting go of Anne. "You drained the battery?"
"That's right, Frank. I watched all the episodes. Every single one!" Hop Pop admitted, hitting the sides of his head.
"But why?" Frank asked, standing up with Anne.
"Yeah, I thought you hated Suspicion Island?" Anne looked puzzle, holding her phone.
"Hated it? Hated it? I LOVED IT!" He shouted, making the kids gasp.
"Oh, you've got to be kidding me?" Sasha looked even more deadpanned.
"Ever since the end of that last episode. I-I couldn't sleep. I fell in love with those crazy kids on their crazy island. I couldn't get enough! I did the only thing I could. I snuck out to the livin' room to watch another episode. I vowed only to watch one, but Suspicion Island had its hooks in me! And before I realized what had happened, I'd finished the season! With dawn approaching, I covered my tracks and made my escape."
At the end of his tale, the kids were amazed by the surprise twist in the mystery.
"Unbelievable." Anne was stunned.
"What a twist!" said Sprig.
"Why don't you just tell us that you liked it?" Frank asked.
"Yeah, none of this would have happened if you had." Darrel agreed.
"I didn't want to admit that I liked something that you all liked. But now I'm gonna make things right!" said Hop Pop when swiping all six phones from each kids when looked surprised from all of sudden before he shouts. "I WILL REDEEM MYSELF!"
"Hop Pop, WAIT!" KJ cried.
But he didn't hear him when the elder frog ran to the edge of the cliff, and jumped off it and fall straight down towards the zapapedes.
"HOP POP!" The shocked group screamed and looked down. Expecting to see him dead from the fall or the zapapedes. However, Hop Pop was still alive. He was just lying on top of the zapapedes.
"I'm okay!" Hop Pop called up to them.
"Oh, thank goodness." Darrel sighed with relief.
"Hop Pop! We're coming to get you! Don't move and or anything to provoke them!" Frank called down to the old frog.
"You know, it's actually kinda relaxing." said Hop Pop, but before the zapapedes started electrocuting him. When they stopped, Hop Pop looked burnt and in terrible pain as he whimpered. They shocked him again and again. With all six phones, he tried crawling away, but would just get zapped again.
"Stop screaming in pain! I think it makes them angrier!" Frank yelled.
"He can't last much longer!" Sprig cried
"What are we gonna do?" KJ looked anxious.
"We have to work together!" Polly shouted.
"I've got an idea!" Frank said, standing up and pointing to the tree trunk. "Sprig! Wrap your tongue around that trunk and hold on tight!"
Sprig nodded and shot his long tongue out at the trunk. Tying himself around it.
"Polly grabbed onto my legs, and Sprig, I want you to hold onto her. Anne, I'm gonna need you to my shoulders." Frank crouched down, and Anne came over to sit on his shoulders.
His head between her, Frank looped his hands around her legs like they were the safety harness of a rollercoaster. As he stood at the edge of the cliff, Polly bounced over and grabbed his legs, before Sprig grabbed her with his feet.
"The rest of you, grabbed on." Frank ushered as they all nodded when grabbing each other's legs. Taking a deep breath and exhaling, Frank fell over the side of the cliff. "Jeronimo!"
The kids fell towards the zapapedes, stopping when Sprig's tongue reached the end of its length. Sasha was holding on KJ's leg, then he holds onto to Marcy, then to Frank as he tried to keep his hold on Anne when holding onto to Darrel as he reached down and grabbed Hop Pop's foot.
"Got him!" said Darrel, but then he spotted a zapapedes that crawls closer to him. "Oh, wait a second."
The zapapedes zapped Hop Pop again, and the electricity coursed up to Darrel. He screamed in pain while being electrocuted. The electricity traveled up to Anne, then Frank, and then the rest of the group. The kids are all screaming, before being shot out of the nest and sent high into the air. Going high into the sky, before crashing through the trees and landing on the ground.
Both Tint and Cronaxx were in quite shocked. Charred and burnt, the group laid around, groaning in pain from the shock they were given and the impact. Hop Pop sat up and looked at the humans' phones and was shocked to see that all six of them were at ten thousand percent.
"Holy smokes. That's a lot of percent." said Hop Pop.
Anne groaned as she sat up against a tree and looked at Darrel lying on the ground.
"Darrel?" She rushes to his side and flips him over. "Darrel? Can you hear me?"
Darrel didn't respond, until he coughed the soot out of his mouth.
"Rough landing." Darrel wheezed.
Then she sees Sasha, Marcy, and KJ slowly got up as they all groaned until she turn towards Frank, lying face down on the ground. Also covered in soot.
"Frank?" She asked, nudging his body with her foot. When he didn't respond, she quickly got up and flipped him over on his back. "Frank?!"
Frank didn't respond for a moment, until he started coughing and sat up. He coughed up ash and soot from his mouth and throat. Once he was done, he panted for a moment.
"How are we still alive!?" Frank shouted, throwing his hands into the air, then his arms then plopped on the ground.
Anne smiled and chuckled at his outburst, relieved he was okay.
"Are you okay?" Anne asked.
Frank groaned as he pushed his hands on his back.
"I'm fine. Just a little burnt." Frank replied, panting himself off. He groaned as he stood up and offered Anne a hand. Anne smiled and grabbed his hand. "At least we got your phone charged."
She took him by surprise when she suddenly hugged him. Making him blush.
"True, but you're more important than my phone." said Anne, smiling.
"But it had all your memories." said Frank, still blushing.
"Yeah, but you're important to me too. You're my friend." Anne was blushing too as she held him tighter.
Frank smiled and hugged her back. Darrel just watched as the two hugged each other, however he seems a bit sad when he knew that he's not the only one that Anne cares. As the two pulled away from each other, before turning to look at Hop Pop.
"So, you love Suspicion Island, huh?" asked Anne, smiling.
"(sighed) Yeah, and I'm sorry I lied and drained your memory box. Can you ever forgive this old, silly frog?" Hop Pop looked away in guilt.
"Dude, you just risked your life to recharge her phone. Plus, you helped give my staff the power of lightning." Darrel shows his staff sparking with electricity. "I think you two are square, and I owe you one."
Suddenly, his pocket vibrates. He reaches in finding his phone charged up as well.
"Alright! My phone is charged too." Even though his phone charged, he turned it off anyway.
"YES! My phone is ten thousand percent!" Marcy smiles when looking at her phone.
"Me too!" KJ added when holding his phone.
"Great, now can we watch something else?" Sasha suggested to watch something else.
"Now that the staff has the power of lightning, you can call upon the element whenever you want." said Cronaxx.
"That's good to know," replied Darrel.
"Aw." Sprig cooed as he and Polly watched the friendly exchange and forgiveness while sitting on some rocks.
"Really glad I didn't push you off a cliff like I was planning." said Polly.
"Me too, Polly. Me too." Sprig chuckled.
"All right, enough fiddle-faddling. We gotta get home so you guys can finish the season. If I don't talk to someone about it soon, I'm gonna explode!" Hop Pop cried, turning and walking away. The others followed behind him. Beginning their journey back to the Plantar farm. "I mean, that part where the island itself is revealed to actually be-"
"No!" Polly yells.
"Oh, come on!" Sprig complains.
"Dude, spoilers!" Anne warned him.
"Keep it to yourself, old man!" said Frank.
"Ugh! I really hate that show!" Sasha yells out loud.
"Wait, you hate this show?" KJ puzzled.
"Well, I LIED!"
While they weren't paying attention, Marcy was the last one to catch up, but then she looked down and sees a small zapapede that was crawling towards her. Without very hesitate, she looks around to make sure no one was looking.
So instead, she just took a jar out from her satchel that she's been carrying, then she scoops the zapapede into the jar, closes the lid, and then looks at the insect that just looked angry with lighting bolt. She smiles at it before she went to catch up with her friends and it could be very useful.
And there you have it! Sasha doesn't really like Suspicion Island while Marcy scoop up the insect that I based off of on of the fanfic story, "A Witch in Wartwood". Tonight, I have five days to go and tomorrow I have four days left until my birthday comes. Hope you enjoyed reading and stay tuned for the next chapter! Goodnight!
