SERENDIPITY

chapter twenty three together

NEW ORLEANS

A branch of pain entered the three witches that crouched down in pain, the blonde cired out, "It is too late."

The other two witches did not mutter out anything as they broke down after inanely of their failure. They stared at the older witch and smiled at them, "Yes you have failed and now my sister thinks she could win."

"Dahlia, my sister please do not do this. My children do not deserve this," pleads Esther as she shakes her head in despair. Dahlia smirks, bending down, "Now you care?"

Dahlia froze in the spot as something she was confused about. Turning to Esther as she sneered at her, "What did you do?"

Esther gave her soft smile, "What I had to."

A white oak stake came out as the original witch as she smiled at her sister before she stabbed herself with it. A dramatic shift as changed in the environment as the three witch smiled at each other as they were all given one more chance.

MYSTIC FALLS

An echoing feeling that surrounded the environment as the gust of wind surrounded the partly starry sky. Caroline, Bonnie, Stefan, and along with Kai walked towards the Mikaelson home. It was still an environment not a sense of living. Stefan turns around, "We think this is a good idea?"

"No but what choice do we have," murmur Caroline walking towards the front door along with Bonnie. Kai and Stefan shared a worried glance shaking their heads in worry and in a bit of fear.

What was once a simple mission began to be a worry of extinction of life and death– death as for the vampire in Stefan being really gone; ceasing to exist. Bonnie turns to them, "Don't be babies."

The two boys sigh as they enter the home. Walking further in the home it was pure silence. An unsettling feeling fell on all of them as they spotted the Mikaelsons knocked out on the floor with Sage. Caroline and Stefan shared glances as they flashed around the house but did not find the original witch.

Stefan gazes at Bonnie and Kai, "Esther is not here."

Caroline moves as she crouches down next to Klaus, her hand softly caressing his cheek. She sighs in worry, gazing at her friends, "How do we wake them up?"

No one answered as they did not know. Not even Caroline herself knew how she came to wake up. None of this makes sense, she thought that her coming back in time would just be to alter outcomes for people who deserved to live and not it being completely a mess that she never knew had existed.

Bonnie took a step forward as she saw Kol's mark. The Bennett witch sighs softly as her hand caresses the mark. Touching the mark it lightened up as the wildest original came to wake the state of mind. Kol gasped ready to attack until his eyes fell on a familar enchanted green ones, "Hello Darling."

Bonnie let out a small stifle chuckle as she brought him to hug. Bonnie helped him stand up as Kol nodded at Kai, Stefan, and then at Caroline. The blonde smiled at him, "Good to have you back."

Kol smiled at her as he turned to her and the others, "I had a lovely welcome by my mother. She is new orleans with her sister," Kol turned to the blonde vampire, "A temporary spell was on me and I'm not sure how to wake the others."

Caroline offered him a sad smile as her blue iris scanned the original hybrid. A fear crept upon her bones aching to reach over and make a certain sense of all of this. Stefan noticed his bestfreind despair sighing he turns to Kol, "Did you say your mother has a sister?"

Kol nodded leaning to Bonnie, "Yes. She told us before knocking the others out. She kept mentioning how her sister would perform a spell and then everything would fall into a destruction."

Kai shakes his head, "Okay then what does that have to do with the gemin coven?"

Kol froze on his spot, "They are all dead."

A pin drop of silence fell around the room. A confused feeling fell on everyone as that was not the news they expected to hear. Caroline and Bonnie gaze at Kai who had his brows furrowed. Even though Kai hated them, it was still odd news to hear. They were his family and if he wanted revenge it would not be as satisfying as they are gone.

Kai did not know what to think. He did not want to think so he just shook his head. Avoiding the slightly confused looks as he mumbles, "What does she want?"

"The children's dead," mumbles Kol. Caroline frantically her head, "She won't get a chance to even come close to my children."

All of them nodded as they helped her and their nieces. Grunts and gasps were coming from the other siblings as they slowly each came to wake. Carline took a step forward to Klaus as she whispered to him, "You okay?"

"I'm fine, love," murmured Klaus back as he put his hand on her cheek. Caroline had a sad smile as she helped him up. The others were quiet still coming to a wake state of mind. Without doubt they walked back to Bonnie's house as Kol had filled his siblings and Sage with what he told them beforehand.

Caroline had gripped Klaus'a hand which in any case his siblings would tease him but this moment was anything but light.

Walking towards the house they completely panicked as Enzo and Liv were knocked out. Caroline flashed upstairs as tears came out of her, "They're gone."

Bonnie rushed to her friend, "Hey we will find them.."

Bonnie felt a gut wrenching feeling, she gazed around the room as everyone stared at her in complete worry. Before Bonnie could mutter out a single word a light flash came to them. Binding them to spurt out of the world.

Caroline sat on the floor. Her entire body was in pain. She attempted to get up but couldn't. She was lying on her left side, extending her neck and wiping her sleepy eyes, which had begun to burn and itch. After a struggle, she got up, her brow furrowed in doubt as to where she was.

Taking in her surroundings, she realized she was in the woods.

Looking down at her tummy, she was grateful her top was loose enough to disguise the increasing lump. She wrapped her hand across her belly to feel them. Caroline listened intently to their heartbeat. She was pregnant again?

She carefully turned around and spotted the scene that played out the first time with the mikaelsons and her friends arguing. She closes her eyes hoping this is just a nightmare and not back at this. She does not want to do this again. She messed up the first time. Why are they letting her do this again?

Doesn't time travel have its own conquesnece?

This time she has one shot to kill whoever is Esther's sister. Caroline walks to them who are still arguing. Her presence is felt as they glanced at her in curiosity while the blonde just grabbed Bonnie's hand, "Excuse us."

The blonde did not let her friend protest as she dragged her across the town square. Bonnie was confused as to what her friend could possibly want. Her green iris scanned as they made it to her house. Entering the home Caroline pushed her friend to the couch with a stern look, "You are going to listen to me. Okay?"

Bonnie nodded in worry. Caroline spilled everything that has happened from her first arriving back in time to the events that occur. Her children are missing and now that she is actually back and pregnant again. The ache in her heart as everything was gone. A sob came in her throat as she breathed through it after telling every detail.

Caroline fell on her floor sobbing, "Tell me you believe me? Please, Bonnie. I can show you the memories."

Bonnie rushed to her friend as she sobbed to her feeling completely heartbroken for her. Caroline brushes her tears away, "Look we just need to kill her sister and a few more murders and it is all done."

Bonnie nodded, helping her friend up, "I will help you, okay? Because I do believe you."

Caroline let out a sigh of relief. As her hands wrapped around her friends next. Bonnie accepted the embrace as her head was out of place. Her blue irir's widen as she whispered to her friend, "My mom."

Bonnie helped her stand up as they were about excited out when they countered both Esther and Liz. Caroline felt panic set through her but her mother looked content as she knew this was going to happen as she knew that she was going to fail. But what concerned all of them was a dead body behind them.

Esther furrowed her brows as a apologetic smile was on her, "This is Dahlia my sister. We need to secure her death by the traditonal grounds."

Bonnie and Caroline shared a glance as they shrugged but were going to be completely aware of the original witch intentions. Liz grabbed her daughter's hand, "I'm sorry to make you go through this again. But I still need to go."

"I'm sorry I failed mom," Caroline mumbles to her mother as her mother brings in her for a hug. Liz caressed her daughter's hair, "You never failed me sweetie. This burden should have never been placed on you but it was. I'm so proud of you."

"I love you," she murmurs back. Probably knowing her mother wants to go instead of dealing with all the pain when got cancer. Liz whispers to her, "Go. I will be gone by then. I love you."

Caroline's eyes were filled with tears as she turned and exited the home where Esther and Bonnie were. They ended up walking further into the woods while Bonnie gazed at the original witch, "Why are you helping us if you tried to kill my nieces?"

Caroline had a soft smile as Bonnie had really believed her. She noticed Esther wince, "Yea. I did. Those children shall not exist but the existence of my sister is way greater than that for now."

Caroline furrowed her brows, "Seriously? You can just leave me and my children alone and pretend this never happened."

Esther smiled brightly at the young vampire, "I will be gone. But others will come after your children my dear."

Bonnie stopped in her tracks, "Wait you are willing to die for all this. What is the catch?"

Caroline snorted the way her friend put it but she had told the truth to everything. Why would she willingly die when she had been trying to kill all of them. Esther did not answer her question as she kept walking further in. She placed her body there after a circle of what seemed to be ashes.

Esther turned to the two as she stepped in the circle, "There is no spell you need to do. You just need to clean up after and as for my children their memory will slowly come back in months but due to you both being their soulmates, Kol and Klaus should get there's faster."

They watch the original witch circle around her sisters muttering out a spell as she stabbed herself. The original witch gasped as fell on the ground, ceasing to ever create a hectic creation of life. The breeze had transformed into the symphony director of the dirt, propelling roots into melodies' throughout the evening's melody.

The aroma of the nosatglic air and the tiny mist that fell as fiercely just like any viola outburst was all around them. It was as if existence itself had entered the tress, and the force was so strong that a big heartbeat rose to establish a continuous cadence.

"Incendia," mutter out Bonnie as the ashes of her body began to burn around all of them. For some reason Caroline and Bonnie found themselves mourning a person they did not know. It felt wrong to feel a heartache for someone that did not know them. Yet the grief stormed in casting rain drops down their minds.

But for Caroline it was reliving the pain of her mother being gone once again. Her hand began to tumble as she scoffed mentally as it is not the time for her weird magic to start acting up in the time of not needed. Well to be fair she completely forgot about if. Caroline sighs softly, turning to Bonnie, "This seems so anti-clamatic."

"That it does. What if this was just a terrible dream," murmurs Bonnie with a reductant sigh. A familiar voice came to them, "Would I be part of this dream, darling?"

Bonnie turned around as Kol was there with a small smirk on his face. Bonnie did not remember fully of their encounter but her heart still flutter as a delicate wing of a butterfly.

Kol came to her his hand touching where the mark would be as Bonnie wrapped around his neck. Bonnie whispered to him, "I'm glad you are here."

"Me too darling," mumur Kol holding the witch in his arm. Caroline had a soft smile on her face. She excused herself walking back to her own house. Entering her own room that she avoided for so long. Sighing, the blonde threw herself on the bed.

Hearing a chuckle the blonde turned around seein Klaus standing with a smirk on his face. Klaus took a step forward with his hands behind his back, "Hello, love."

Caroline jumped into his arms as she felt tears out of joy come out of her. They both held to each other tightly as they had some much left to do but they will figure it out together. One of the main problems is gone and now they have to do just quick murders and some rescuing.

He pressed his brow to hers, both of them looking at each other intently, "I'm, sorry." Caroline glanced at him, perplexed, and he nconfused. Caroline couldn't help but grip his hand, which he quickly tightened as she told him about an original promise she made him do before she came back to time.

She leaned back, keeping her gaze fixed on him. "It was a ridiculous vow to begin with, plus you knew I didn't mean half of what I said that day," he arched his brow as she burst out laughing seeing him be all confused.

Klaus leans to her as his lips brush across her ear, "It was a stupid stupid, sweetheart."

Caroline let out a hey as their laughing filled the air. Their laughing faded, and they both gazed at one other for what seemed like the hundredth time as if they always have been like this.

They laid quietly together on her childhood bed. Caroline rested her head against Klaus' chest, his arms around her waist. They just stood there, hanging on to one other.

They didn't say anything to each other; simply feeling each other's warmth was enough.
